Tip: Woodbines is dog-friendly with outdoor seating. The spicebox dish is very good, and they serve a proper Guinness.

Opinions de Woodbrine's Long Island City
The food was great and the service was excellent. I enjoyed the Irish Combo Breakfast. It was well prepared and substantial - you won't leave hungry! We sat outside and the lovely waitress was very accommodating. You'll have a good time here.
Loved this place. A little loud at night but that's half the fun. The chicken curry is the best I've ever had. Fantastic service! Decent prices. Safe, well lit area along well lit, clean stretch of Vernon Ave. We went for a stroll along the beautiful East River boardwalk after eating - the perfect way to end the evening. It's a very short walk from this pub. Recommend Woodbines highly. I would definitely return.
I went for dinner and had the burger with fries. I thought the it was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure she got everyone's orders right. They have a wide selection of beers and cocktails too. I'd come back.
Came here for lunch with a few friends. We got a few apps, grub and drinks. Everything was delicious and came out fairly quickly. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly as well. The vibe was chill with all different types of people. It was also a HOT day and the ac helped a lot to cool us down. Highly recommend!
I had a really nice brunch here. It’s a very dog friendly place! The staff is very welcoming. The food was delicious, both steak & eggs and a French toast. Will definitely come back.
Took friends here from out of town and we loved it. Had an amazing brunch. The French toast with the strawberry butter was amazing. The breakfast burrito is another amazing choice or the breakfast burger. They were all tasty. Will definitely be going back.
Food was very good! I Had short rib grill cheese sandwich and it was excellent. We had a big group so we tried alot and everything was really good!
Great place! Cool vibe, good food and good selection of beers! 👍👍👍
We’ve been coming to Woodbines for at least three years, and it remains our favorite spot to grab a drink and a hearty meal—whether it’s after a long day at work, to catch a game, or just to enjoy a fun chat with the friendly locals and amazing bartenders. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
So when I need a really good drink from a place that actually has staff that knows how to properly pour, combine ingredients, and exchange great banter, I only go to Woodbines. Marta, Terry, Abby, Taylor, and Lucy are diligent and the main reason I stay loyal to this fine establishment. I feel appreciated and respected for spending my money, a mentality a lot of businesses have forgotten. It’s my destination weekly and my only suggestion for the LIC area. Grab an Aperol Spritz, a Screwball shot and enjoy the day.
I was visiting NY with my husband. My brother in-law invited us to have appetizers and some beers at Woodbines. We ordered the Crispy short rib spring rolls, Scotch Egg, and the Sausage rolls. Everything was amazing. The dipping sauce that comes with the sausage rolls is a curry ketchup that was so tasty. The staff was very friendly and the general atmosphere of the place is very nice, like if you were eating at home with family. I would definitely come back. The manager Donna is so friendly, I absolutely love her. I recommend this place, if you are ever in NY. I definitely will be coming back.
What a quaint restaurant and the food was excellent! We had some fantastic fish and chips! The service was first rate and fast! Try the fried pickles for an appetizer! The batter is yummy, crispy and light!
Good and service is tremendous. Not at all pretentious. Always love going there and I could not recommend it anymore highly. Bonus: short walk to the waterfront.
Perfect neighborhood spot for elevated pub food. They have an extensive menu including tons of gluten free options. They have both healthy and “dirty” options depending on your mood. Awesome drinks, lively crowd and late night hours!
I absolutely love this gem. I travel for work from California to New York couple of times per year and stay in Long Island city. Due to the pandemic I haven’t been able to see New York as frequently I did in the past. I stumbled across this restaurant last weekend and absolutely adore it. My business partners and I stopped in Saturday and was greeted by a friendly woman bartender. We had such a stressful day at the office and needed a quick bite and a few cocktail to take the edge off. The sweet bartender was so knowledgeable about all sorts of cocktails she definitely made our evening, it was a busy place for them but made sure we had everything we needed. I can’t wait to go back in May and enjoy our evening with great food and great drinks. Best chicken sandwich!!!!
This review covers a dine in experience and delivery. We dined in about a year & half ago and it was great. Friendly, fast service. Had a couple of scotch eggs, beers and the burger. Fair Prices. This past week we had delivery and tried the short rib grilled cheese, the classic burger, and the house salad with salmon. Everything was delivered within the estimated delivery window, and everything was hot. I would highly recommend and cannot wait to dine indoors once again.
Very dog friendly, they offered my dog treats immediately and offered a second option as she's a picky dog. Food came fast and was very delicious and fresh!would come again ! Was seated inside with my dog and was greeted with a smile and nice alternative soothing music. Not too loud and very calm environment.
Delicious brunch! Not as busy as other places nearby but the food was excellent and a little different. I had a lovely Brussels and eggs dish with a wonderful cream sauce and hard cheese. The combination of flavors was fantastic. My friend had a lovely omelette and both of us left full and satisfied. Service was so so in terms of attentiveness but very friendly and warm. I think the owner, an Irish guy, was in later Highly suggested to grab some of the Buffalo wings sauce for your meal when you stop in!
Simple neighborhood joint that you can’t go wrong with. Everyone in LIC loves this place and it’s for a reason. The quality is consistent and they have a wide array of options to choose from. The lamb burger is delicious and they have some great beers on tap. Always looking forward to coming here because you know what you’ll get!
This is THE neighbourhood establishment. The staff is exceptional (shoutout to Donna, Marta, Dave) ambience is always abuzz and there is always something interesting on the menu. The team takes an interest in having quality vegetarian options (which matters) and their fish options are aplenty. Whether it’s for brunch (Latin Scramble, Breakfast Brussels or Irish Breakfast), post work drinks or a weekend night out, Woodbines stands out. There’s a reason NYT mentioned this gastropub as a must visit for fall 2022.
Woodbines is amazing and all bartenders are super friendly. The food and service is unbeatable. Thank you Marta, Terry, Abbey and Taylor for always taking care of me!
Very clean and well styled place, Terry and all the other bartenders are fantastic, friendly bartenders. But the real star here is the food. The food ALWAYS hits here. Like anything they make seems to have been mastered by their kitchen staff. It's great. For good food and a good time, trust woodbine.
Great all rounder friendly neighborhood gastropub. Fantastic weekday lunch deals, and reasonably priced weekend brunch. The only things to be wary of are that the high top banquette seats by the entrance do not have a step or bar rail so your legs will just be dangling and circulation will be cut off, and it’s not an accessible space as it’s in an older building without a ramp.
The care put into each dish shows in every bite. Their kitchen staff knows their craft. The service approach was notably excellent and supportive. The mood is perfect, workers are friendly, and it seems like a peaceful escape in the busy city. Visiting again is absolutely necessary.
I've been here a couple of times. Whether to work and drink or just party and drink. Owner is delightful, makes it his business to speak to the customers and remembers a face very well! Great vibe for the neighborhood. Always a great experience when I so seldom and randomly come on in. I highly recommend if not for the awesome menu, definitely the hospitality. Good old fashion Irish style. I love it!
Really good hamburger with Gluten Free bun. Large and juicy! Usually I like some kind of dressing cause burgers can be dry, but this was so tasty I enjoyed it with just the usual veggies. Will return for happy hour and sample some other things.
Great burger, I had the woodbine burger and my daughter had the lamb burger. Both were cooked perfectly. Our server was excellent, my only reason for 4 stars on the atmosphere was it was a bit loud. . Can't wait to go again
Great service, very welcoming! We came for dinner and loved our food. The drinks were great. We had a great experience here and will be coming back again!
The food is delicious, the location and the atmosphere is great and I really love this place except The only thing that turns us off when we go is the bartender that is usually intoxicated and then has been rude We have been there many times because the food and atmosphere is awesome but unfortunately we won’t be going back there again because it’s not an isolated incident On our last time there: The bartender was rude when we even asked about the happy hour options and it seemed like she expected our usual order instead and then just walked away ( and it’s really just being intoxicated ) We ended up having to walk up to her bar to order ( she never came back to our table ) and then as soon as our food was ordered the bartender then took the ticket and yelled across to another bar patron DO YOU HAVE A CIGARETTE??!!!! This restaurant has wonderful food and has a great location We just don’t appreciate that attitude to come and pay 20plus bucks for a meal while the bartender yells over us it’s better in a dive bar Again we love the place but it’s been more than one experience with the bartender being wasted
Just moved to LIC and locked into this as a go to spot. Food is solid, staff is great, aesthetic is attractive. A nice spirit and beer selection to boot!
Plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. Spacious! Nice selection of cocktails and food. My favorite was the shepherds pie which was a seasonal meal but my friends got the tacos, grilled cheese and burgers and said it was delicious. The serve was friendly and attentive. Service was great!
Great spot close to Gantry Park. We were quickly seated with great service, with what felt like genuine suggestions from the menu. Went with the short rib grilled cheese and it didn't disappoint. Overall, my personal taste, I felt everything needed a pinch of salt but that is my opinion. Outdoor seating available. Several TVs broadcasting several games.
Irish-ish bar with praise-worthy entrees. Multiple TVs with sports channels on low volume (if you’re looking for that). I went here on a Monday and business was good. I ordered the shepherds pie and my dining companion ordered a burger with fries (see pictures). Service was friendly and efficient. Solid neighborhood mainstay.
Love the food and the service. Small suggestion, kindly educate the staff about what the different charges are. This misconception that the credit card 3% goes to the city is not only false but damaging. They should know that it is the restaurant that is pushing on this charge from the banks to the customers.
Woodbine’s has been one of my favorite spots in LIC for years. My husband and I go often for relaxed date and quality time, and the food is always consistently good with great weekly specials. I also love popping in on my own and sitting at the bar — it truly feels like home. The bartenders are amazing, always welcoming, and some of the best conversations happen right there. There’s a real sense of community with the locals, and it’s clear how much the owner and manager genuinely care about the people who come through their doors. The holiday decorations are always such a nice touch and show how much love goes into the place. A true neighborhood gem.
Went here yesterday for a date night and the food and service was fantastic. We got a wide variety of things: beet salad, nachos, spice box, sliders, and a couple of drinks. Everything was truly amazing, the only suggestion I would make is not even a complaint about the food but having the option to upgrade to Irish nachos (potatoes rather than tortilla chips) would be amazing. The spice box tasted like the spices boxes I had in Ireland over the summer. Going again next week and bringing my girlfriends! Also, the drinks are strong and portions are large- this is not some place that will try to give you tiny portions for your money- you get a bang for your bucks. Loved this place
Woodbines is one of my regular spots because I can always count on consistently great food, drink, and atmosphere. The staff's outstanding service makes the place feel like a cozy second home. Marta is the best-- so professional and so warm at the same time. She always makes my visit a delightful experience. Highly recommend.
My only regret is that I did not take pictures for my review. The service, food, drinks and atmosphere were all excellent. We had a larger group the team here accommodated us with ease. We felt welcome and well taken care of. Food recommendations: chicken curry, Irish rolls (app), bangers & mash, shepherds’ pie and sliders.
UPDATE: Excellent burgers and food! Nice beer selection as well. Ran into a friend of mine that ordered me a couple of shots on his behalf, only to find them on MY bill after he left. It was clearly an "honest mistake" and was quickly rectified and corrected by Clive and staff. :) It's always a plus, when an establishment with excellent food and drink, also has management staff who care enough to apologize and try to make up for it. I will be returning soon :) Thank you Clive.
Always good to be back at Woodbines. This place has that classic, welcoming vibe that’s getting harder to find these days. Great drinks, solid food, and friendly staff who make you feel like a regular even if it’s been a while. They serve a proper Guinness here. A reliable go-to in LIC that still holds up!
Only stopped in to grab a drink and watch some NBA. To my surprise there was fettuccine Alfredo on the menu and took a chance ordering some since I’ve been craving white sauce pasta for the last 2 months. It was AMAZING and exactly what I was hoping for!!!! I will definitely be back just for the Alfredo. The drinks are reasonably priced and the chicken wings and fries were good too :)
I had the basket of sweet potato fries, and the nachos! The fries were divine but the nachos, not so good! They were really dry and didn't have much black bean or filling! My friend had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich and the fried pickles, OMG, heavenly!! I gave a 4 star for food, but it would have been lower if I didn't taste my friend's grilled cheese and pickles...
Loved visiting this place with a friend for brunch! The food was great for the price and it has such a cozy vibe. The drinks are a good price as well during brunch and I would love to come back again alone or with friends. It’s small and the seating is a bit tight but it’s a good place to hang out. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area! The brunch burger was delicious and cooked how I like it but the main star for me were the truffle fries.
Although we were heading to a different place to have dinner on Vernon Blvd we ended up at Woodbines. From the moment we stepped in the staff was very friendly and kind. We sat by the window and we ordered two glasses of red wine and a few plates to share. The food was simple but it was delicious! We got the jumbo wings, truffle fries, short rib spring rolls, spinach artichoke dip and in the end we shared one lamb burger. Everything was so tasty! The servers were happy and they came several times to our table to check on us. The place is cozy and the vibes were cool. We loved it. We are going back for sure!
1/21/23 we were looking for nice to have brunch. I’ve heard of this place many times, but I’ve never gone. It’s on a quiet street on the corner. Not very big inside, but very cozy. The food is incredible. The drinks are very good. The ambience is very nice. It can get crowded but overall It’s a must place to go to Martha is very attentive, and the waiter home I do not know his name was very good
This is a great dog-friendly bar on Vernon Blvd. There’s outdoor seating, both on the sidewalk and in a protected covered space on the street. They serve up really good cocktails that are decently priced and they also serve food. I just had the Scotch Egg appetizer and it was delicious. There’s plenty of other options on the menu, including craft beers, and there’s a TV inside by the bar. I’ll definitely be coming back here as one of my new favorite local bars, particularly because they’re so dog-friendly so I can bring my fur baby along for the fun.
found my pub without rich/heavy meals but very light healthy & flavorful choices!!! relaxed place, the service as good as the food! not only about sports nor super loud music .. you can actually enjoy your time there while appreciating UR diner, talking or reading, inside or outdoors
I like Woodbines because it offers a variety of dishes to choose from. You can easily eat there or order to go. I got the lamb burger, which paired well with the goat cheese. The lamb burger has this unique, unforgettable taste that one may either like or dislike. I can’t say I’m in love their price, however, I do go back for it because it satisfies my craving for the taste.
This is a very solid place. Has better than normal, in quality and inventiveness, bar style food. They have a good beer selection and some of the best prices on Belgian beer I have ever seen in a bar. That alone would keep me coming back. I went once for lunch also on a weekday and they have a killer lunch special. I will go back again.
I was hesitant to give Woodbines a second chance after my first time here, had a bad experience with a male server who was very sarcastic and rude. However, this is my second time here this week (ordered take out two days ago and dined in tonight). The service was beyond amazing. The blonde bartender was welcoming, kind, and checked on me constantly. The drinks were better than I was expecting, I had four drink total and I liked 3 of them so that’s great! The food came out so fast, literally ten minutes after ordering it, and it was hot! It didn’t look or taste like it had been sitting out which means their kitchen is on top of tickets. For having $14 cocktails (which is cheap for being in LIC), their ingredients were refreshing and delicious. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was the lack of flavor in the food, their fish in the fish and chips entree definitely could have used more salt. As for my take out order, the buffalo wings were subtle in spice and while the taco appetizer tasted very good, whatever sauce they put on top was over powering (definitely put too much sauce). Overall, woodbines is a great restaurant in LIC, their staff is welcoming and friendly, and the ambience (music, crowd, and the space itself) is worth experiencing.
A cozy welcoming place. We had great draft beer, the food was really good and we loved all the dogs that were there as well. It was out first visit and we will be back!
Overall a pleasant experience. Situated on a busy block, the service here was classic and easy. Prices are very reasonable overall. I went with the burger, and it's pretty basic. Big downside for me is the brioche bun, which I never enjoy seeing paired with an already rich beef patty. Food presentation is very 2010's, wood board and faux fryer basket. Could almost feel my eyes rolling backwards in my head. This is why restaurants shouldn't follow trends!
4.5 really, randomly walked by and became intrigued by their menu. This place did not disappoint. We ordered the kale Cesar salad, lobster mac n cheese, truffle fries. The fries were on the crunchier side which are my favorite kind and the salad was delicious. Would definitely come back time and time again.
This cozy little bar has a great atmosphere and I was excited to walk in and sit down on a Tuesday evening while in town for work. I requested a beef dish that I guess, was on the special menu, and they weren't currently serving, so I got the pork schnitzel instead. I don't care for kale, so asked to substitute broccoli instead and was accommodated after correcting my order initially. Dinner was excellent. The wait staff was slightly inattentive. But I think he was the only person there also running the bar and therefore it is completely understandable. If I ever come back to New York I will visit again.
Had gone to Woodbines for brunch with family and to watch Giants play Rams. The only disappointing thing about this experience was the way Giants played. Just very terrible! But this review isn't about the Giants! It about the amazing staff, a well priced brunch menu, and excellent service that we experienced at Woodbines. They have decent outdoor seating, but it was a relatively chilly Sunday afternoon, and we sat indoors on one of their comfortable seating opposite their bar. They had some good beers on draught, but we were in mood for some brunch cocktails and got an extremely sour Greyhound ($9) and Bellini ($9). The greyhound was quite sour and it felt like the grapefruit/concoction had gone bad. A very strong drink though! If you stick with the same cocktail, they had refills for $5 which I thought was pretty cool. I knew I should've started with their Bloody Mary ($9) which was a much better drink as compared to the Greyhound. For food, we got Avocado Toast ($15) and Beet Salad ($13) - both extremely flavorful and delicious options. Service was absolutely excellent and they have a very friendly team here! The place started getting busy around 3:15 pm. We will definitely visit again, but not when Giants are playing!
Had a good time there. The fries portion for appetizers is really good, not like other places where you get 5 fries in a bowl, this one is good for a side with beer. Menu is decent, tried the butter milk chicken burger and it is doing the job ! Could be better with some homemade mayonnaise, but that's OK without too. Service was friendly and efficient, inside it is not too noisy even with the TV turned on (why having TV in a "gastro pub" ????!!!)
This place was to loud for me. On a Tuesday night you could barely even here the person next to you or cross the table. I found this very frustrating. However they are open later than most places in this area. So there is that. The food is ok, the curry was delicious, truffle french fries off the hook. The chicken sandwich is hit or miss, sometimes it's good and other times it's dry. Same goes for the Cubano, something it's good and other times there is no meat and to much mustard (there has to be a lot of mustard for me to say this). Overall it's fine. The service, well they only come to the table twice, once to take our order and then once to give us the bill, never checked in on us or refilled our drinks. And it was not particularly busy either. They charge a service charge of 3% on every bill. I hate that they do this, but more and more it's on the customer.
I went to Woodbines with a friend to grab dinner and catch up. We went relatively early on a Thursday evening and had a perfectly pleasant time. Woodbines is a typical NYC bar in terms of design. The layout is unremarkable if you're familiar with the smaller bars in NYC. The menu has a British pub slant. They serve shepherd's pie and fish and chips, and their curry options are derivative of British cuisine. They also serve chicken sandwiches and burgers. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and it was just okay. The flavors were good, the bread was lovely, but the chicken was a bit too dry. My chips and curry sauce were great! My friend was happy with their shepherd's pie, but they left 2/3 of it behind. They have a good selection of beer, with many of the usual beers and a few standouts. It should be easy to find something great. The cocktails were good, and they even have a few signature cocktails. My friend stuck to their hibiscus margarita, but I switched to beers after one cocktail. Service was okay. The food came quickly, and it wasn't too hard to flag down the wait staff. And they were flexible with the "order food and drink at the same time" rule. Overall, I had a good experience at Woodbines. It's a good place to go for a casual meal with friends or colleagues.
We came here for New Years Eve for a late lunch/early dinner. We had been having a craving for a traditional British Christmas dinner and they had advertised online that they would be serving roast Turkey and ham, which is just what we wanted. We booked for 3.30 and arrived on time and the place was absolutely heaving. There only seemed to be one person working and he was covering both the bar, serving tables and bringing out food. We ordered our drinks and looked at the menus. We asked if they had the Turkey and ham special and was told no. This special had been the entire reason for us to book Woodbines so we were disappointed to hear this. We decided to order the scotch egg and sausage roll to start and then we would decide on our mains. The scotch egg arrived quickly and then our server rushed off to deal with the bar (entirely understandable as the place was full so too busy for one person really). The scotch egg was ok but nothing special. Whilst eating this we decided there was nothing on the menu that we really wanted for our mains and had found another location that was doing roast Turkey. Our sausage roll never arrived so we asked for our cheque and left. The bill came to $55 including tax and tip for 3 drinks and the starter. We wouldn’t return, this is not “local” to us, but if we lived in LIC we would give it another try on a day that isn’t so busy.
I debated leaving this review, so in full transparency, my goal here is to be constructive and hope that it somehow leads to improvements. I can honestly say that I have never received such poor customer service from a waitress in my life. Two friends and I went here for lunch. The waitress took my friends drink orders and walked away from the table without acknowledging me. I am editing this review after reading others because—I am black and my two friends are not. When the waitress walked away without taking my drink order, I wondered if it was racially driven. After reading many other reviews about how POC were treated in this establishment, I feel justified in my perception. She also neglected to bring utensils or water, and forgot both when she returned after we asked. My friend and I ordered Bloody Mary’s and both agreed they were the worst we’ve ever had and barely took a sip. The waitress never asked why we didn’t touch our drinks, and given her initial demeanor, we didn’t feel comfortable asking her for a replacement. The three of us instead decided to try the mimosa flight, and asked if we could get 3 glasses so we could all taste each drink. Her immediate response to our request was, “three glasses, why?” We also asked for straws and only got two for the table. When our food arrived, she handed me my plate instead of placing it down in front of me. This normally wouldn’t bother me, but the less than subpar service thus far, clearly indicated that she did this intentionally. She also walked away from the table so fast after delivering the food, (we barely uttered the words thank you before she was gone) that we didn’t get a chance to ask for salt, pepper or ketchup (for the French fries we ordered!). When we needed her she wasn’t there. And she never stuck around long enough to make sure we had everything we needed. I should also mention, the place was not even close to busy. She just couldn’t be bothered. At the end of the day, we turned to another server for the rest of our requests. She was helpful, friendly and kind. I regret that she was not our waitress for brunch. She is the only reason I am not leaving a one star review. I wish I could leave a name, but she obviously neglected to tell us that as well.
The good part first: excellent location with a variety of seating options. The menu options are also great. Which is where i get to the Bad part: There were hardly anybody inside when we sat at the table. Yet, it took forever for the food to come. The service was pathetic and the wait staff were curt. All of that would have been still okay if they had great food to hang their hat on. Something as simple as french toast was completely burnt. We ordered the creamy Brussels sprouts which was teeming with potential. Unfortunately it fell short by a mile. The fries that came with the chicken fingers were by far the only thing that was good.
The previous waitstaff was much better. Arrived at 3:40 on a Sunday and asked to order brunch.(brunch ends at 4) Waiter rudely told us no. Didn’t even check with the kitchen or anything. Meanwhile, one of the bartenders was sat right next to us chomping down on his full breakfast. Not a good look having staff eat amongst customers. Have them eat in the back or out in the rear patio. Also, after we ordered drinks and food , the waiter never came back to fill water or ask if we needed anything. Not sure how they expect to even get a tip with that level of service. Such a shame, as I’ve been coming here for 3 years now and have spent quite a bit of money here.
Will not be back. It used to be good, so disappointing to see it go down. Last few times my wife ordered delivery, always the same delivery guy. We have always tipped in cash when we get togo food but everytime he delivers, he's rude and demands money before we have the bag in my hand. The first time my wife gave him $5 for 2 burgers and he got mad. It's the same every weekend. We decided to go in for lunch since I cannot reach a manager to speak to. Low and behold, we see the same rude worker but no manager in sight. I used to love coming in and bringing friends. I dont know what's happened in recent months but the welcoming, everybody knows your name atmosphere has left the building. Foods not worth it, and being shamed at a 20% togo tip is not what I look for in a neighborhood place. I have never written a review, but felt the need to since I can't reach anyone and it's happened so often
My husband and I stopped in for lunch this past weekend as 1st time customers. I mentioned to the waitress that I had celiac and needed gluten free. I ordered a burger, she asked if I wanted fries, I proceeded to say no because they are cooked in the same oil. Celiac's can NOT have cross contantimation! I have been so sick since lunch on Saturday & its Monday. This place is not celiac safe, I was fooled by their menu. It's ashamed that us as celiacs cannot trust restaurants to cook properly for us. RESPONSE - yes, I did everything correctly. I ordered everything correctly. This was my 1st meal of the day. Your staff is uneducated on how to cook for gluten free. I am sick because of cross contantimation! Educate!
Not Gluten Free. Server should tell you 'If you have Celiac you shouldn't eat here.' Right after eating here this is the worst my wife has been glutened. The previous worst was when she was given a regular roll and told it was gluten free (4 years ago). RESPONSE BELOW..... My wife told the server she had celiac. And followed it up with a 'She can't have gluten.' The server mentioned the fries. My wife said I saw they weren't safe. The server mentioned cross contamination and ask 'DO YOU STILL WANT THEM.' Obvious no. My wife did everything correctly. Except check a gluten free app with horror stories of your restaurant. IF ANYONE NEEDS GLUTEN FREE FOOD LOOK THIS PLACE UP ON THE APPS.
The avocado toast was not good. I returned the food and they did it again and it wasn’t good either. The toast was saggy, they put too little avocado (seriously, like a table spoon for two bread slices) the eggs were overcooked and the fried potatoes were cold. Honestly one of my worst meals in LIC.
Absolutely vile food. Chewy, frozen cod fillets battered without seasoning and fried in old spent oil. But while it may be the greasiest thing I’ve ever taken a bite of (and I grew up on the boardwalk) it was also burnt. Served with HOT tartar sauce. Burnt broccoli was a just unseasoned (can someone please introduce this “chef” to salt and pepper) steamed broccoli that was, I’m guessing grown under a broiler for 30 seconds. And some pie that clearly runs the risk of melting sandwiched between two hot dishes so lucky me I’ll never know how vile that was as well. If you’ll excuse me I have to dump all of this in the garbage and vomit up a pint of spent fryer grease from that one bite of fish.
Stopped in with my girlfriend for some food on a Sunday as we were specifically craving the wings and the grilled cheese with tomato soup, we live in the neighborhood and have been here a couple times before. We got seated in the back room with 2 other tables. It's a small bar & restaurant and was not very busy at the time (early evening.) We ordered our drinks and continued looking at the menu. The drinks came quickly and were of good quality, but that's where the good service ended. Our original server went on a break and a new man took over. The gentleman who was now serving us passed our table no less than 10 times without even glancing in our direction. It had been at least 15 - 20 minutes and we were never asked if we wanted to order food, which is the only reason we chose to patronize this establishment. We saw the gentleman interacting with other tables around us and attempted unsuccessfully to get his attention. After a while of this we gave up. Our drinks had been finished for about 15 minutes already, so we walked up to the bar to pay. Only at that point he asked us if we were ok and wanted to order food. We did, but it simply took too long and left a bad taste in our mouths. It was almost comical how bad the service was, but it did make us question why we did not receive service while others around us did, in a small, not very busy bar. I don't want to call anybody out for being discriminatory unnecessarily, but we were the only non white table in the room and also the only table not being served, so we will not be back, as a result. Went down the street and discovered a new restaurant that had opened recently and we were welcomed with warm, gracious hospitality and delicious food.
I placed an order from Woodbines on DoorDash. Their menu isn’t updated, so items that are brunch-only still show up as available on days that they don't serve brunch. Since I don’t work there, I have no way of knowing what days/hours they serve brunch or not. I called the restaurant myself because Woodbines doesn’t let you add order notes on DoorDash which is annoying I should be able to request my meat cooked at a certain temperature etc.,. An older woman with an accent answered, and the attitude was immediate. She told me the item I ordered was "brunch-only" and acted like it was my fault, even though the restaurant accepted the order in the first place. I tried explaining that I didn’t know their brunch schedule, but she kept arguing. Instead of helping or canceling the order on their end, she told me I needed to contact DoorDash and cancel when that's not how it works if an item is unavailable the restaurant cancels the order. The whole interaction felt rude and unnecessary. I won’t be ordering from them again.
