The Mole had lots of flavors and was not overly spicy. The pork from the Cochinita Pibil was deliciously juicy, with powerful flavors from the fruits. For dessert, we highly recommend the churros and the fried ice cream.

My first visit. Decor is in theme with a south of our border tourist experience, but right here in Palo Alto California. The food was inspiring. I tried something I've never had or even seen on a Mexican restaurant menu before. For the Record I am Hispanic. I had the second item on the special menu. Chicken chili en Nogada. Excellent. I'm terrible with remembering names, but our waiter, was polite, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. Outstanding young man. I'm not from the area. But when I return I'm looking forward my next visit. Compliments to the Chef and back of the house staff for my beautiful delicious meal.

Wow! Had a great experience here. They served wonderful food with a superb atmosphere. Their service was outstanding with very friendly Spanish waiters (not necessarily from Spain). We had a wonderful waiter named Nate who recommended some excellent food and gave us super hot hot sauce tasters. He described the hotness perfectly as “mild when you swallow it but every time you swallow something else, it gets hotter.” So, I recommend you ask for him, and that you sit outside since it is beautiful. Food arrived after about 5-8 minutes and was really tasty and well worth the short wait. I would definitely go again next time I am in town. In sum, great place and I highly recommend it.

There are so many reasons Estrellita has been in business since 1958. As long term residence of the area, we are very familiar with the varieties and quality of Mexican restaurants. most of them seem to just phone it in, but not Estrellita. We have not been to this restaurant for three years (Covid) and feared for the worst when we returned. we need not have worried for the place is as fresh and bright and the food is as unique and as high-quality as ever. For example, the Cochinita Pibil a Mayan dish from Yucatán, turned out to be flavor, full and savory! I had a Chile Riano made out of a fresh poblano chili and wonderful cheese with delicious sliced tomatoe on top. You won’t find a speck of grease on anything, not even the home cooked, fresh tortilla chips. Tgey have other wonderful regional dishes that you will want to try and they always feature specials, including at least something from a region such as Oaxaca. If you want extraordinary Mexican food, this is your place.

Totally loved the outdoor ambience and food. We are vegetarians and the options and quality was excellent We ordered avocado with chips which was well severed and good for 4 Ordered taco salad bowl , which I would highly recommend and order again whenever I go back again. Ordered the enchiladas plate which was good too. Enjoy the pictures

Estrellita has been around this neighbourhood for more than 50 years and it is not your average Mexican chain. They make awesome Oaxacan food and will the mole I had here was out of world. Though they give you free chips we got the super nachos while waiting for the entre and it kept us going for a while. They even have nice combos if you are unable to settle for their tamales vs child releno.. more than food I like the servers who were engaging and knowledgeable when it comes to recommendations. I would recommend this place for a large party but may be not for a date night...

Authentic Mexican place near Palo Alto. It has a bunch of vegetarian options and the ambience is really nice. Almost like you’re in Mexico! The guacamole and chips was great. I had the tamal with rice and beans and it was almost like it was made at home. Finally finished with yummy churros. We felt like the service was a bit slow and can be improved. I understand we were a large group of 12, but we had to wait 30 mins for the food.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating, it is far enough away from busy street that the street noise is minimal. The drinks are good, didn’t get refills on lemonade but the margaritas were a hit. The chicken enchiladas and carne asada were great as was the fried ice cream.

Definition of a 4-star spot - not going to blow your socks off but reliable for a tasty meal. The enchiladas hit the spot, and La Gringa is great too. Don't sleep in the beans either. The rice is meh but it's ok for one piece of the meal to be a safe spot to return to between more flavorful bites. The delivery was packaged very well.

Amazing Food, average drinks, great seating, difficult parking, but overall positive experience. Come here if you want good food and aren’t too concerned with having top quality cocktails. The food alone makes this place worth it! The food: I’ll start with the good - the food here is excellent. They have a wide variety of offerings. I recommend the chicken mole enchiladas or the burritos. The mole is some of the best I’ve tried in the Bay Area. I also love how the grilled steak tasted (it had a lovely charred flavor). The Mexican rice had an amazing spice to it and the refríed beans were great! Can’t say enough good things about the food. The drinks: The drinks were okay but we felt there was too much sugar and not enough alcohol. The two margaritas we tried just felt a little artificial. I think if they added a bit more tequila and cut down on the sugar a bit - it would be much better! I ended up just ordering a shot of tequila instead! The location: The location is great but parking can be difficult during busy times. There’s only a few spaces out front. However, it’s in an easy location next to el Camino real! Safe neighborhood, quiet, and peaceful! The Service: The staff here is great! They were very attentive and friendly. They made a small mistake on my receipt but explained it - so no worries there! Super friendly staff! Overall, 7/10 experience if you’re looking for drinks and food - but 9/10 if you’re only concerned with food! The one point off is for the parking.

My chicken enchiladas weren’t that flavorful nor saucy. Kind of dry relative to everything. The salsas with my chips were ok better at other places. Services was fine

Pretty basic Mexican plates, nothing was bad (except the queso fundito had an inedible amount of onions) service was ok. They have few vegetarian options, margaritas were big but pricey and didn't taste like fresh fruit. For the price I'd probably go elsewhere.
