I have been here a couple times now in the past 7 months. Both times were excellent! It is not very noticeable from the road, but once you walk through the front doors it opens up to a pretty nice size restaurant. They start you out with chips and salsa that is great! The tacos and chimichanga were both very tasty! The staff is always very friendly and welcoming! My favorite place to go in Agua Dulce!
Service there was very friendly and involved with banter, conversations, a little singing. Cool/old vibe to this place. Food was HOT and the plate was almost overflowing. Very good margaritas too. 10/10 experience with friends and family
Our family loves this place!! We've been going here for at least 30 yrs. It had a name change once but the food and service has always been great!
Besides delicious meals and lunch, the restaurant added a large cement patio to accommodate outside seating to comply with the covid 19 rules. All servers were wearing masks. The patio is dressed with umbrellas, and decorative lighting for night dining. I will go there again for a great tasting meal with peace of mind!
Old school yummy Mexican food. Fresh and they'll make it however you want. Drinks are flowing. They start you with fresh chips, Pico de Gallo and warm beans. Definitely the place to go in Agua Dulce!!
Probably the best Mexican food I had on our trip! Really delicious 😍😋I definitely recommend, even if it's a further drive than another option - choose this one, you don't regret it.
We came in starving after a long day of hiking, the food was absolutely delicious (especially the avocado salad and the nachos), portion sizes were big and price was very reasonable. Everybody was super friendly and accommodating
Delicious authentic food with wonderful employees. Atmosphere is cozy and you feel like part of the family. Friday night karaoke is really fun.
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. Tastes great, great value, great salsa. I finally got the food for what I paid in LA area. Especially great after finishing hiking at Vasques Rocks.
Amazingly good food, great service!
I live in the San Fernando Valley and my parents live in Lake Los Angeles. This restaurant is half way between us and the food here is so delicious and the staff is beyond fantastic, welcoming and friendly. If you go here or pay them a visit you will not be disappointed.
I grew up in Agua Dulce, I’ve been eating here for 40 years. Had like my first 10 birthdays in this place. They’ve catered multiple friends weddings. Maybe it’s a little bit of nostalgia, but I swear it’s the best Mexican food and margaritas I’ve had anywhere. The chips and salsa is top notch. Far and away the best carnitas on the planet. Small town restaurant and bar vibe, just the way I like it. I never come home without stopping back in. If you find yourself in Agua Dulce in need of a meal or drink, this is really the only place worth considering.
This is the place to eat and drink! Don’t pass up the opportunity to exit this amazing establishment. The customer service is top notch as is the food and atmosphere.
Many thanks to our awesome server - 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the bar area. The food and service were amazing. You had a party of 13 in and out in just 75 minutes. Each plate was beautiful and flavorful. Our entire party was delighted. Carousel Ranch staff made the recommendation (thanks!), and we're grateful! We will be back again!
I have loved Maria Bonita's Mexican food since at least 2001. To this day, the food is still delicious and the portion sizes are plentiful. The rice is tasty and a side of rice gets you a large portion. I have never had bad service. I just recently tried sitting at the bar (though I've had their alcoholic drinks previously), and the ambiance was quite nice, which included 4 HD TVs playing different things. The atmosphere is nice, though it's nothing special. Definitely one of my go-to Mexican restaurants!
This restaurant always has the best food and service! They are always consistent when we go in. I always say I’m going to take a photo of the food and put it in the review, but the food looks so good I always forget. Just know the chimichangas are amazing!!
What I have to say about this restaurant is wow! The food here is excellent delicious, the service is great, the people are very nice and always there to help you, I will definitely go back to this place, I definitely give it a 10
Always friendly and welcoming. Love the small town atmosphere as they make you feel like they've known you forever. Able to tell jokes and waiter fit right into our crazy group. Bar tender was quick Ann's drinks very favorable. Awesome family friendly place.
I have been to Maria's over a 100 times and highly qualified to submit an experienced review. The food and Service is always great A++. I would expect some issue after 100 visits but nope, always perfect. They also have the best Cadillac Mararita's I ever had. The beer selection is just enough and have frozen schooners. Taco Tuesdays are busy, so get there early. The town of Agua Dulce is small and quaint, heaven in my opinion and probably one of the last small country towns left in Los Angeles.
Peter - the PCT HIKER . It's amazing SERVICE AND FOOD. i came here twice. They knew my name, what i ordered last time and what drink i like. They are carrying and kind. I love this place. Food is amazing !!
I was very impressed with our server. His name was Jamie and he made our experience so nice. He had killer recommendations on drinks. He got all of our orders correct and kept our drinks filled. He recommended the avacado margarita and it was fantastic. He was polite and accommodating the entire time. I can't say enough about how good the service was. If you check this place out, make sure you sit in Jamie's section, you won't be sorry.
Excellent food and customer service. Best Mexican food ever. The service is super welcoming. Manager Luis makes you feel like family. I will definitely, drive 1 hr and 30 minutes to go and eat there again no doubt. 5 ⭐ restaurant.
This was the best restaurant in all of Agua Dulce. The service was extremely fast and the food was hot and delicious. This place is perfect if you’re driving through the back roads and in the mood for authentic Mexican food.
This is my favorite restaurant of all time. My family has been going here since I was a child some 30 years ago. The food is insanely good & everything you could want for from a family style Mexican restaurant. My favorite dish, that I ALWAYS order, is the Zarapes - which is like an enchilada, but filled with fajitas, covered in sauce, and served with rice, beans, sour cream, & guacamole. I’ll usually add a side Chile releno bc they are incredible. It’s a ton of food, so I always have leftovers! Beyond that, every other menu item is top notch, and compared to their one other location in Santa Clarita, this place is better. The chips and salsa are my favorite I have ever had - The only chips / salsa that comes close are Tex Mex chips & salsa that I had in Fort Worth, TX when on tour. I hope this place never goes out of business - the people here are like family & they treat you like family. Of course, we’ve known them for many years, but they are awesome to everyone. The bar is great too- I don’t think there are many places where you can get classic cocktails like strawberry daiquiris or pina coladas anymore…the beer is served in gigantic fishbowl stemware too. It’s an experience! For us, it’s nice to have a nice huge beer after working outside all day in the desert heat - a real treat. If you are on your way to the sierras from LA, or just passing through Acton/Agua Dulce, stop here if you are hungry. Or better yet, go here on purpose, drive specifically to this place. It is wonderful. Thank you MARIA BONITA for being here all these years and making quality food! I hope to take my children here for dinner someday too. Recommendations: Zarapes w chicken Tostada Chile Relleno Carnitas plate Fajitas plate Cheese enchilada combo *everything is good, but I like these things the best- also taco Tuesday is really fun!
What a great find! This place is an amazing Mexican restaurant with food that stands up with the best in LA. The staff at the restaurant were exceptionally friendly - huge shoutout to them. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. You get a lot for what you order including the drinks. I had the Al Pastor burrito and my wife had the carnitas. I drank a huge mug of Pacifico while she had a pina colada. We also had chips and salsa to start which were excellent. Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside, the atmosphere inside very nicely reflects the rural community of Agua Dulce. There are many tables, Spanish and Western decor, and an even a full service bar. We will DEFINITELY come back!
Food here is absolutely delicious
Really good food and great staff. Huge portions!!!
Maria Bonita in Agua Dulce has the best Mexican food. The staff are friendly and polite they always go above and beyond to provide good customer service.
For our first experience here, it was very pleasant.. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, portions are generous, and food was very good. It is a casual dining atmosphere with comfortable seating.. We ordered the Molcajete Azteca, which comes with carne asada, filete de pollo, chorizo, queso panela, cebollas, nopales, and camarón in a molcajete on a bed of sliced onions & sweet peppers.. It is not spicey but is also served with chiles gueros for those who need some heat. It's portion is large and is meant to serve 2 people, therefore it is also served with 2 plates of rice with beans and their sides of sour cream, guacamole and your choice of flour or corn tortilla. We also decided to try the Chimichanga, which was also good. The Chimichanga is generously filled with chicken and topped with salsa. Very happy with our visit tonight, we would gladly return for another date night.
We've been going there for 20 years. Consistently good food. Great Mexican dishes. Ice cold beer. Molcajete Azteca is to die for!!! Good service.
Good food, enormous portions (for me as a European 😅) but super tasty. Nice and helpful staff, we felt so comfortable!

Expensive but it's nessisary to survive as a small town buissness. Very good food, staff always sweet and generous.
Food was terrific, and only surpassed by the wonderful and hospitable staff!!! Highly recommend this spot, especially if you are a hiker.
Great place to visit with friends and family. Decent wine and good food.
This was our first time here, I went with my family, the attention was very good and friendly, food taste good flavor and fresh, we definitely recommend and we will come back
I’ve been coming to this local Mexican restaurant for years, and it continues to set the standard for what great food and genuine hospitality should feel like. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family — the staff remembers faces, checks in at just the right moments, and somehow makes every visit feel personal. The food is consistently outstanding. The pollo Acapulco is one of my longtime favorites — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and comforting every single time. If you’re in the mood for heat, the pescado filete a la Diabla absolutely delivers with bold spice and incredible flavor without overpowering the freshness of the fish. The carne al pastor is always tender and packed with authentic seasoning, and the chile Colorado is rich, savory, and clearly made with care. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the combination of quality and service. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in every plate, and the team on the floor genuinely cares about the experience they’re creating. In a world of rushed meals and inconsistent restaurants, this place remains reliable, welcoming, and truly special.

This is absolutely my favorite restaurant. Tastes great, great value, great salsa. I finally got the food for what I paid in LA area. Especially great after finishing hiking at Vasques Rocks.
Great but I wish they had vegetarian beans (they make them with lard). A vegetarian burrito with only veggies is not a burrito. I had to warn some friends who thought they were eating vegetarian by not adding meat. Be aware that they also make the fried fish with lard!!!! The waiter said the only thing they don't make with lard is the shrimp, that is made with butter.
Great dining experience. I haven't been to this location in years and forgot how great it was. The service was exceptional, and I would return for that reason alone.
Great place to fill up on food and drinks. Their margaritas are amazing with a variety of options to choose from. Servers are great friendly people that make the place more welcoming. Definitely recommend you stop by and check it out if you are ever in the area
Amazing place, food was excellent, I had a carnitas plate ( I think it was the best carnitas I have ever had). Thank You
Some of the best salsa I've ever had! The portions were huge and my steak taco was delicious. The rice had some kind of salsa in it, so not as good as regular rice...but still good. Not much service here, so expect to wait.

Their menu has changed somewhat. I ordered the grilled shrimp. It was terrible. It was split so you couldn't eat it. Messy and disgusting. Greasy. They have me a salad and no dressing. Very shoddy for the price. I used to really like them. Not any more.
They charge you more for the food than the menu says and they are very shady about it. The food was fine and portions where large but the idea of being lied to really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Had a very nice dinner with 2 margaritas each. Got the bill and it was over 100.00. The margaritas were over 18.50 each and it was not any special tequila!! Same size you get at other restaurants for 13.50. I asked the waiter (not ours) who came out about the prices his answer was ‘it is what it is’. We have been here a few times and the food is good and the service has always been decent. We have never paid that much for the drinks though. To receive that kind of answer was rude and not customer friendly so I called the manager when I left and was told the person who responded to us that way was actually the Owner. We definitely won’t be going back.
Terrible service, the guy was simply ignoring us didn't great or gave us menus, we left after 15 minutes.
Went with a family of 10. No one was at the front reception so we went in and sat down. Then the owners son came to tell us we could just sit without being checked in but failed to acknowledge that no one was at the front to help us. Despite the attitude we decided to try it out. Because we had a huge order the food took a while. The waiter was awesome and friendly. Over all we did not have the best experience and the food was decent but the owners son should not look down on others.
Too expensive and place not clean at all has to be checked by health department. Workers and cooker seem to be drunk, they have a bar that's irresponsible and nasty. Tried a disgusting fish and seafood. If you want to get drunk and you don't care what you eat come to this place
