Opinions de Barista Society Los Angeles
I’ve been seeing this spot on social media as a hip spot to go to for excellent coffee. Luckily I went when it isn’t super busy. I ordered a latte with almond milk. It only came in one size but it was delicious, perfect flavor and temperature. I’d definitely come by here again for a cup of Joe. I think if it’s a long line, then it’d be a different story. Worth checking out and they have some convenience store items.
Currently this spot in LA is on everyone’s radar. I had to give it a try. The exterior is simple and clean and the interior is quite small. When I went the line was coiled inside and went outside all the way to their yellow sign. I waited in line for about 35-40 mins. As I waited in line and watched them make drinks I noticed this fluffy sweet cream they kept pouring into drinks. It looked so good. I ordered an iced matcha with oatmilk and the sweet cream! It was delicious! I think this spot is worth the hype but hopefully they figure out how to optimize the wait time better. Possibly more locations? Highly recommend trying!
First time I came, I tried the iced Maple latte, and it blew me away. It was so yummy and definitely delicious . Second time I came I had the Vic’s cafe con leche and it was also very yummy and delicious. Absolutely best coffee I had in my life. The froth on top was so so good, bravo to the baristas!
all these people waiting in line were onto something. community goods is actually worth the wait and those might be the best breakfast sliders i’ve ever had. matcha drinks were solid and flat white was also tasty. there’s seating in the back patio to enjoy your meal. overall, this spot is a welcome addition to the must go places every time i’m in town - try to do mobile order next time though! flat white: for a place known for matcha drinks, the flat white held its own hojicha latte: tasty but would try the spanner next time matcha spanner: top tier drink and worth the hype. on the sweeter side, especially with all the cream top. loved the slight saltiness. coffee spanner: one of the most complex tasting coffees i’ve had in the best way possible. sweet, salty, bitter and creamy. really enjoyed. baklava croissant: pretty tasty, unique flavor but croissant base itself wasn’t top tier breakfast sliders (+bacon, avocado): simple stack up but executed perfectly. ratios were great and ingredients were fresh. the 2 sauces on the side turned this great slider into a top tier one. banana bread (+passionfruit butter): solid banana bread and mustard try with the butter
YES - THEY HAVE A LINE!! I got there when they opened and it still was a line, I waited about an hour but my food and drink came out fast. Food - Breakfast Sandwich is so good and pretty thick and matcha is a nice grade, very delicious. Parking - Street parking, easy to find if you come when they open, harder to find after 10am. Atmosphere: Cute, vibey, outdoor seating. Overall: I would love to go again but the line was pretty long so you have to be willing to wait. I think it’s worth trying at-least once.
Food: delicious drinks and food. Lovely spot to get good quality matcha and small bites in the heart of melrose. Service/Atmosphere: overall good service but I wish they would prevent customers from bringing their dogs into the cafe. Because the space is small and crowded, I saw multiple dogs that entered and immediately caused fur to float all over the place. I thought this was super unhygienic.
After seeing this place mentioned multiple times on IG, decided to check out this place. I came here around 9am during weekday. (I did street parking nearby) There was already a line but not too long. I waited about 20 min to place my orders. I ordered matcha latte with cream top and breakfast slider with avocado. Their matcha latte with cream was quite good. Not heavily creamy or rich as Stagger but soft and SMOOTH! I really enjoyed drinking their matcha. Their slider was even better like some other people mentioned. How should i describe it.. they just melted inside my mouth haha. Very flavorful and great choice for breakfast if you come here. Conclusion: hype is real. Solid choice for cafe if you are around!
Here to try the new drink Cinnamilk latte, so good. they were prepared with great dedication and the flavor is very unique, it is very busy place the line is a little long they close at 4pm so you should get there much earlier to be able to get your drink. you will have to wait in line longer than normal since their new drink is very popular.
i wasn’t a “belieber” in the hype, probably because i didn’t want to waste my time in the line….but unfortunately, sadly, it was worth the hype. i got the iced matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla syrup, and the bacon breakfast sliders. the matcha was great, amazing even, but you can also find this matcha in any ktown cafe. but the breakfast sliders…now THOSE were worth the wait. I will be back, also i waited about 50 minutes total for everything, from when i parked, the line, and to when i got my food. 8.5/10
We ordered the matcha latte, pistachio toast, and breakfast slider + avocado. Even though the line is always long, this was my second time here and it was definitely worth the wait. Fortunately, we also found seating outside. Next time I visit LA, I will definitely come back for a third time!
Community Goods lives up to the hype and I can see why people line up. We came yesterday around noon but the line was huge and the heat/sun was not it. So we decided to come back today (Sunday), we arrived at 7:30 am. We were third in line (that very quickly grew around the block), so I’d recommend you come before opening. Once inside the service was friendly and swift. We ordered 3 coffee drinks: the einspanner latte, vic’s cafe con leche and a vanilla latte. I ordered the einspänner latte and it is easily one of the best iced coffees I’ve ever had. We also ordered the breakfast sliders, we got some regular ones and another order with avocado and bacon which is $4 extra. These were also so good! As other’s have mentioned, there’s limited seating in a small outside space, and there’s also a bathroom.
The matcha latte at this place is amazing—easily the best I’ve ever had. The flavor is smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, not too sweet or bitter. You can really taste the quality of the matcha. It’s made so well that I keep thinking about it after I leave. If you love matcha, this drink is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back for it again.
Unfortunately, the line was worth it. If you are just getting drinks though, probably not. It’s good, but not worth waiting 45+ minutes for a drink you will most likely finish in less than 5. However, the breakfast sliders!!!! Chefs kiss. 10/10 would wait again for over an hour for them. Definitely add the avocado (and bacon if you aren’t vegetarian)— you already waited so long in line, just spend the extra $2! Come with a friend, and the time will pass fast. I read a lot of reviews before deciding to just coming here (it’s annoying to find parking in this area and the lines are notorious) and thought I knew what to expect but wow! When I took that first bite, everything truly fell into place, and I’m already planning to persuade friends to come with me. I came Friday at around 11am and got my food around 12pm, just a little over an hour. If i only got drinks and ready made pastries, it would have been under an hour. I’ll definitely try to come on a Mon- Thu next time
Really nice place & food. As you can see from the pics.the line gets long so quick so u better come early or they might be sold out quickly. If you wanna try smth different & light, def. Worth the wait / experience. Worth to try it once. Matcha is good but lil. Sweet . Eggs sandwich to the point. Good for dates too Space inside is super limited so probably you will need to find a spot to eat. Overall vibes are nice
I ordered the breakfast slider and matcha while my friend did pistachio toast and hojicha latte! The matcha was exceptional well done while the sauce with breakfast slider brings the perfect balance! However, the wait is a little bit long but certainly worth it!
I HATE that I love the matcha so much, so yes unfortunately it’s very much worth the wait. The food is good but nothing special. The workers are flirty and very sweet haha. Not a whole lot of seating but you end up always finding a seat.
Not to be a basic b(oy), but Community Goods arguably has the best matcha in LA. I took a detour on the way to work on a Wednesday morning and thank my lucky stars that the fabled line wrapping around the corner was not there. I arrived around 10:30am and the line was only a little bit out the door. The total time from the start of my queue to receiving my drinks was probably less than 20 minutes. I even found free parking nearby! But I also was probably extremely lucky so take my experience with a grain of salt. But even though the line wasn’t that long, the inside of the store was still cramped and overcrowded because of how small the shop is. There’s not much room inside to stand, so we were asked to wait outside. But while I was waiting outside, I noticed that I didn’t hear any names being called out. I sat there for a while, wondering how I was supposed to know when my order was ready. Eventually, I just decided to go back inside to check and found my order sitting on the counter. This was mildly irritating. I can understand asking guests to wait outside, but if you’re going to make them go outside, you should have a way to communicate with them to let them know when their order is ready. I did not receive a text message. I was not given a buzzer. It’s impossible to hear your name being called if you’re standing outside. And a worker never came outside to call my name. I got the matcha einspanner (secret menu), matcha latte, and hojicha latte. The matcha latte was perfect. I had mine sweetened with maple syrup. The matcha was rich, nutty, and not too sweet. I’m also not the biggest hojicha person, but this hojicha was very good. The roasted flavor was vibrant and tasted like kinako powder. But my personal favorite was the matcha einspanner. The whipped cream on top makes the einspanner especially creamy and indulgent, and that creamy foam coupled with the lightly salted flavor complement each other very well. And despite these different flavors and textures, the taste of matcha is not lost. Even though the service had room for improvement, the drinks were very good. I would definitely come back on a weekday morning for another matcha einspanner.
the matcha at community goods is just chefs kiss + the breakfast sliders are also to die for you can find some long queues and waits but trust me; it’s so worth it and it’s hyped for all the right reasons. will be missing community goods matcha deeply and can not wait until I’m back in LA for another
Waited about 45 min in line but worth the experience! Everything tasted delish! Would love to come back and try more matcha and coffee next time but probably in the afternoon with less line :) the breakfast sandos are served until 12pm so it's usually more packed until then
Yes, it's excellent and yes it's better than most other coffee places. My personal pick is the tonic coffee. I tried it elsewhere but this is by far my favorite and no one else gets it this good. Unfortunately, the portion was small, and the wait is way way too long. No, I wouldn't wait in line, but I'd try it at least once.
If you know, you know. Community Goods isn't just a coffee shop; it’s basically the unofficial living room for the coolest crowd in Los Angeles. Whether you're stopping by for a quick caffeine fix or sticking around to soak in the minimalist-chic aesthetic, this spot hits the mark every single time.
By far best matcha i know. The environment is very lovely and fast paced but if you're just ordering drinks they come out in no time. Will 100% recommend trying their matcha einspanner whenever ur in LA
Got here early and waited in line for 30 minutes and I’ve gotta say….sadly it’s worth it. I wouldn’t come here later in the day but the matcha flavor in the matcha cream top is sooo good. I’ve never had a matcha that had that kind of taste. The employees were very friendly. Also the sliders were out of this world, I would come back just for the sliders. I definitely recommend getting bacon and avocado on them. The only thing I was not obsessed with was the pistachio toast, definitely very mid.
Community Goods is an absolute gem in Los Angeles! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the beautiful interior architecture and atmosphere. The space is so thoughtfully designed, with a warm and inviting vibe that makes you want to stay all day. Yes, the line was long, and we waited quite a while, but it was absolutely worth it. The sliders and pistachio toast were incredible—bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The coffee and matcha were equally delicious, with rich, balanced flavors that had me savoring every sip. Sure, it’s on the pricier side, but for the quality of the food, drinks, and the overall experience, it’s totally justified. Community Goods has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in a stunning setting!

Excellent drinks and great vibes. Staff were friendly and welcoming - trusted the staff recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. A must visit in LA for good coffee. Long queues and pricey but worth a visit.

Went to this coffee shop because there is a lot of hype for their matcha’s and coffees. Reading the reviews, I was preparing to be disappointed but everything tasted amazing. The gentleman at the register was very friendly and helpful. He recommended matcha latte with vanilla bean syrup. My friend and I each got an einspanner and a matcha latte. My friend got iced matcha latte and I got mine hot. I LOVED my hot matcha latte. I think getting it hot really made a difference. It tasted so good! The notes are more distinct. The einspanner was delicious; the coffee was so smooth. I hate to say that the hype is real because that means we must return here as we love coffee and matcha. We went early on a weekday and the line was about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the pistachio toast had already sold out by 10:30 ~ish. Highly recommend this place. Go early on a weekday if you want to avoid the line.

We arrived just after 7 AM and encountered a queue, but it moved relatively quickly. The staff were polite. The coffee was okay, not the best I've had, but the matcha was excellent. The breakfast sliders were to die for. I recommend coming early as the queue got longer as time went on.
The food is really good. I loved the breakfast sliders (I got mine with avocado) and the spicy sauce is amazing. The matcha is also great; the first time it was a bit too sweet, but the second time it was perfectly balanced. However, the crowd management inside the store really needs improvement. When my friend and I were entering with the line, we were suddenly told to step out because it was packed, even though we were following the queue properly. It was confusing since others nearby weren’t told the same, and it made the small space feel very chaotic. The pickup and order lines overlap, which makes everything even more crowded. Still, the food and drinks are delicious, I just wish the system inside the store was more organized.
I have no idea why there is a line outside, they actually serve pretty fast. Is it because the coffee and the matcha latte is over the top good? No. Is it because the sliders are magical? No. If it wasn't for the chive/dill/sour cream/mayo dip and the chili vinaigrette dip that comes with them, they are nothing special. Maybe it is the pistachio toast that was sold out at 8am. Otherwise it is just a tiny neighborhood coffee house with a small outdoor seating area. So what is the hype? Oh wait, everyone is here to see Justin Bieber 😂
The drinks here are hip and tasty, but overpriced. The einspanner was sweet and rich, but quite frankly way too small for the price (or there was way too much ice). My friend got the matcha latte, which was fragrant and definitely a notch above other matcha lattes I've had, but still not worth the premium and queue time. I probably wouldn't go out of my way for this, but would visit again if I'm in the area. I'm aware the breakfast sliders are incredible here, but haven't tried them yet. Will update review when I do!
Best Pistachio toast I’ve ever had.10/10!Everyone here must give it a try. The waiting time is not too long on weekday early morning.Space inside is super limited so probably you will need to get the food to go. Worth to try it once.
Tbh, too hyped up? People there are kind but coffee and matcha are just meh. I make my matcha latte a lot at home and my matcha is better tbh. I can't really taste strong matcha so it is a bit bummer. My dad said coffee was just mid. We waited for almost 40minutes? But hmm not worth the wait. Good for the experience. Not worth than one time in my opinion. :)
Went around noon and there was plenty of street parking since it's right in a neighborhood. The wait was about 45 minutes and when we finally got to the front to order, the menu was actually smaller than expected. The cups themselves are pretty small for the price and when I saw the barista spill some of it, I thought he was going to refill it but he didn't. The seating is actually really cute. It's all outside and nicely shaded.

If you are looking for a fun, LA style matcha/coffee this is a good option. The line moves fast. We got a regular coffee here too which was ver expensive, served in a small cup and only 2/3 full…
Not worth the hype in my opinion. The breakfast sliders were pretty good but nothing out of this world. The coffee was honestly mid and pretty underwhelming for having to wait an hour in line. Probably wouldn’t do it again. We tried the einspanner latte and the Vic’s. I’ve had better einspanners elsewhere in LA and could barely taste the coffee. Also pretty small size and way too much ice in the small cup. The staff was rude and the inside of the place is really small and some mediocre seating on the side of the venue.
After waiting 1+ hours we finally got to order what we want We tried pistachio toast, matcha einspanner and coffee einspanner. The pistachio bread was a 9/10 for me and worth the wait. The price was about 35 dollars While the matcha and coffee wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. The color of the matcha was so vibrant and due to the sweetness I couldn’t really taste much of the matcha. I hate to compare but I tried other places and they were same or even better and I didn't have to wait 1+ hour. The matcha was delicious but I can't say the same for the coffee wasn't as good but if I add in the 1+ hours wait time I don't think it was worth it besides the pistachio toast. They got our order ready on time roughly. There wasn't much seating area as well which I already knew about ahead of time. So that's why I am giving it a 3.5/5 mostly for the pistachio bread, I would go back for more.

I went there because I’ve heard it’s a popular spot these days. They only have chair-style seating inside, and there aren’t any tables. It’s pretty small inside, and the tables are all outside. The matcha latte wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, just like at other coffee shops.

I didn’t get to try their sliders when my turn finally came at 12:03 pm due to poor service and an extremely disorganized team. There were many staff members behind the counter, yet the process was completely inefficient. There’s no dedicated cashier and everyone seems to be doing everything, which slows down the entire ordering process. They also don’t inform people in line when they stop serving their breakfast menu. Many first timers end up queueing for a long time, only to reach the counter after the 12 pm cutoff and be told it’s no longer available. And frankly, stopping the item you’re known for right at 12 pm seems like poor planning. The team should reconsider how they organize staff and improve the service flow to make the process more efficient for both customers and the kitchen. You don’t necessarily need more staff — you need a better system.
Waited a whole hour and thirty minutes to try out the sliders and honestly it’s mid. It lacked flavor, the bacon was raw, and barely any seasoning in general. I tried the vanilla bean latte and it’s any generic latte but it sucks you can’t customize the drink to add cold foam. It’s not worth the wait, and honestly I can definitely make a better version at home and saved the gas and money. The only good thing about this place is the banana bread with the passion fruit butter. I mean what do I expect from an overhyped influencer spot and I was just curious to check it out and unfortunately it’s not worth it.
Definitely overhyped, made the trip here after wanting to go for a while, took an hour just to get order and the coffee and food was not worth the wait and trip. Plus over 24 dollars just to get 2 order of sliders and 10 dollars extra to get it with avocado and bacon added and as seen in this picture the bacon was not cooked thoroughly having noticed too late. And if you like customizing your coffee this place is definitely not for you. Save your time going somewhere else.
