We got the vegan west coast deep dish and holy crap was it amazing!!! Probably one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve ever had and definitely the BEST deep dish vegan I’ve had. Amazing!!
If more business were run like Purgatory Pizza, the world would be a better place. They are mindful above all of providing the customer a quality experience. Their ingredients are high quality and the recipes are creative. Everyone behind the counter always seems like they're in a great mood. I like cauliflower on my pie and I don't care who knows it.
UPDATED! I want to thank management and the PP team for doing right by their customers. I honestly appreciate that most of all and it's what will keep me a customer for as long as the calzones stay amazing, no matter the cost. (pls see before and after pics) I've been a Purgatory customer for over 10 yrs because I love the calzones, even though they are sometimes inconsistent in size. Today's calzone, however, left me beyond disappointed as it was more like a hot pocket! I don't know if my order was understood or not, the guy taking orders was somewhat rude and didn't give me a receipt. I ordered and really wanted extra pepperoni, mushrooms and pineapple....please see the following photo for what I actually got. I'm sorta sad because the price of the calzones has gone up so significantly from the time I first discovered them, and I happily pay no matter what if only I got what I ordered.
The BEST thin crust pizza you can get in LA... FO REAL! If you like it thicc, and buttery, the Bombay is good! Lots of Vegan options 🙌🏼🌱
Great pizzeria, I’ve been coming here more than once and I’m always satisfied. The atmosphere is very pleasant — cozy and comfortable. I’d especially like to mention the cashier Elizabeth: she’s very kind, helpful, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. The pizza is the best in the area — really delicious. Highly recommend it to everyone 👍
Delish Thin Crust Pizza w fluffy cheese and fruity beer. Loved every flavor. 👍🏼 (has coconut water always costed more than beer?) they even have gluten free pizza
Their BBQ Chicken house pizza is highly delicious!!! My whole family loves every slice of pizza filled with organic chicken, pineapples, and red onion. Their BBQ sauce is also highly tasty, much better than the other pizza brand we tried. I don't know how they create such a wonderful sauce.
The first time I ordered from here it was 1 pepperoni pizza and 1 vegan pepperoni pizza. They were delicious but the vegan one was not vegan. I was OK with it tho bc cheese only gives me a stomachache (that's why I order vegan). I ordered again a few days ago and I definitely got a vegan one this time. Lol It was good. But if you NEED to eat vegan, make sure that's what it is before you leave the restaurant.
Their BBQ Chicken House Pizza is absolutely delicious and a favorite in our family! Every slice comes loaded with tender organic chicken, juicy pineapples, and perfectly cooked red onions, all topped with their signature BBQ sauce that tastes far better than any other brand we’ve tried. The flavor is rich, smoky, and just the right amount of sweet — truly mouthwatering. The place itself is very inviting, with a cozy and family-friendly atmosphere where kids can have a great time. The staff are welcoming, and the ambiance feels cheerful and relaxed, perfect for both small family dinners and friendly get-togethers. Plus, they offer plenty of free parking, which makes visiting super convenient. Overall, a perfect spot for pizza lovers who enjoy great taste and comfort!
Looooove Purgatory! The vibes are good, pizza is delicious and the beers are always cold. Grab a Sicilian slice if you see it available. You won’t regret it. Anytime I take the Metro E line I make a stop before, sometimes on the return, going through as the stop is right in front of the entrance. They have 3 columns of pizza. Regular, veggie and vegan so everyone’s happy.
Found a new place to get a quick munch on with a great atmosphere and street art all over the place. And if you don't drive or ride a bicycle like I do, you can take the Metro Gold line and get off at the Aliso Village station directly across the street from here. The lobby and dining area are great and I'll be sitting at the table next to the entrance facing the register from now on. The crust to their Detroit and Sicilian styles are really good and as far as myself, 2 slices were enough to satisfy me. Due to inflation and possibly the tariffs, you'll pay quite a bit more. I think each slice averages the price of $7 each. I didn't ask because I was hungry and it was a hot day in Boyle Heights during my visit. Plus it's better than that corporate pizza stuff you see on TV. 🍕
Great tasting vegan pizza, the dough is risen to perfection. You can order by the slice, can’t remember what I ordered but I do remember I had a hard time deciding which was my favorite slice since they were all delicious. My husband is not vegan so he had the regular pizza which he said was pretty delicious too. Friendly staff, great atmosphere if you’re looking to grab a mid day meal.

Oh my gosh, this place is amazing. I haven't had this good of pizza in years. Great service, clean facilities, amazing selection of food. I'm from Western NY... if there is something I know is good chicken wings, And this place has good chicken wings. Very impressed and an overall great experience. I hope to come here again next time I'm in LA.
Pizza is amazing!!! Loved their deep dish vegan pizza, with all the garlic, pesto, and tomato bombs topping the super soft dough. Parking is hard to come by in their little one way alley with around ten spots. Be prepared to circle around or park in the blocks down the street. Super friendly staff and great and quick service.

Classic New York style pie. They actually put oregano unlike the other so called best places. A1 pies and pastas.
Amazing pizza! Delivery was friendly. To someone who is not local to the area, a welcome choice!!

Top 3 vegan pizza places in LA... all day. The vegan caesar salad is amazing too. The staff is always great.
Great pizza, good vibe and cold drinks. The staff is super helpful and friendly. My favorite is the white Iverson but all the pizza selection is tasty. The prices are on par with other pizza places…
This place is always bomb. Been offering for years. It's expensive tho. And in this economy it hurts my heart to pay so much for pizza.
Great environment/atmosphere and great customer service. The food is also just as great, the vegan pizzas are very delicious and I would recommend the Pineapple Express pizza and garlic knots. If…
Amazingly delicious and fresh pizza & calzones Highly recommend! Awesome service and cool environment.
This was my first time eating in the restaurant. I would usually order pizza delivery when I worked in DTLA. \n\nMy friends and I were near the neighborhood and I suggested we come to eat here. The…
Very delicious and very good service the have good customer service and nice place \nUsually there is a wait \nI like the restaurant
A friend took me to this spot a few yrs ago and I have been spark🎆 every since. The staff treat you very nice and respectable. The vegan pizza is in a class of its own, I mean so good that I took a bus a train and walked 2 blocks to get there when my ride was down😂 "True story"! They have a pretty big menu but to keep it a💯 I go for the Vegan Pizza They use to have a vegan cc cookie and brownie👻yea I'm calling you out what's up wit dat🤨 but if you haven't tried it definitely gotta get ur tongue on dat fr. & who knows ya m8ght run into me down there and if ya do please 😎 No autographs! (Photo coming soon)
Great pizza. I order from them often. Big slices with a variety of different flavors. I love that you can order half and half so that you can get multiple flavors in one order. They have a Detroit style pizza, but if you've been to Detroit, this pizza isn't quite Detroit (in terms of flavor and texture) but close enough.
6 dollars for a slice of thin pizza? Rip off.. The prices use to be reasonable. Not any more

Horrible service. Made a order paid over phone with debit card with a nice tip. Was told it would be 40 minutes had to cancel my order after waiting 1 hr and a half. And was still told driver would…
Tasty pizza! We had a 14” pizza with half White Iverson and half Sexy Beast, and both sides were really good. The one thing I found frustrating is that there are no prices listed on the menu or on the fridge for the drinks, so you don’t really know what you’re paying until checkout. We ended up paying $50 for one 14” pizza and two Olipops, which felt very overpriced for lunch. For those driving, there’s accessible street parking nearby, and it’s also close to a Metro stop, which is convenient.
I've been to Purgatory in the past , I always thought their pizza was decent. Fresh ingredients. Fairly priced. Fast-forward to 2025, and quality has gone down. I give their pizza a 4.0 out of 10. First time trying their wings, no flavor on either the wings or the sauce. They were decently cooked just no taste to them. Service can be better, I was waiting for my pie and wings for almost and hour, after I reminded them about my order, I noticed that my order was sitting on top of the ovens the whole time, and was handed a cold dried pizza, I warmed it up at home, which I don't mind , but the pizza quality still didn't hold up on its own. Staff needs to be more attentive on orders that are just sitting on top of their ovens, on why they haven't gone out. Seems like they don't care handing out cold food. I don't mind paying a premium price for QUALITY food, but this place is not worth it.
What I Ordered:\n-Sloppy Pig $5.01\n-Sicilian $7.29\n\nI was excited to finally check out this place since I always drive by. I loved the street art on the building, especially the Teenage Mutant Nin…
Ever since they tried to "improve" the online ordering experience things have only gotten worse. Pizzas are delivered thru Door Dash now which makes the delivery experience dodgey. And it's very ha…
Super happy to find a place with vegan options, unfortunately the pizza was under salted or under seasoned. There are also no prices listed, spent $49.99 for a Detroit style pizza. Seemed pretty high for a medium sized pizza. Just wish I had a heads up when I looked at reviews beforehand. The staff also cleaned the table next to us with bleach before our pizza even arrived an hour before closing.
Sloppy Experience (and not in a good way)\n\nPurgatory Pizza, I love y'all... but this visit? Straight purgatory for real.\n\nMe and my girl waited in a long-ass line, stomachs touching our backs, …
service sucks at this place. Ordered a pizza and never got delivered. I'll make sure I never order from this place again.
Went in last night for Valentine’s Day and spent $160 on a take out order and all my food was wrong. I was given dairy Ranch even though we are allergic to dairy and became really sick. The cashier ignored me and my daughter for over 15 minutes as soon as we walked in and stood in front of him, He purposely refused to look us in the eyes or acknowledge us in any form, this rude behavior appeared to be on purpose because when delivery men came to pick up orders he acknowledged them quick and was even helping people that came after us! When I tried to speak to him and get his attention when he was standing in front of me he spoke over me and refused to help us. I’ve never spent so much money on a meal or been treated so hatefully with disdain then the way this kid treated me and my daughter, we were in shock but not surprised because a short girl that was the cashier for us last week was Also extremely hateful and dismissive. it was like pulling teeth communicating with her too. these employees clearly hate their job and have so much disdain for the customers even some kitchen guys would come out and give everyone dirty looks last time and by reading the reviews I see I’m not the only one getting treated like this. As far as I’m concerned the whole staff needs to be scrapped and new people that respect and value the customers and actually Acknowledge them when they come in need to be hired. We were regulars years ago and stopped coming in for the exact same reason and things seem worse then ever! Yesterday was a Saturday and Valentine’s Day and there was only one guy and last time there was a concert and there was only one person working the front and taking orders and serving, who’s the manager here?? They are doing a horrible job they obviously need to hire more people and they are setting the standard bar low for how customers should be treated because Owner/Manager your employees are a Reflection of You! This place seems abandoned by the owners and these little punk kids in charge of running the place know that they are unsupervised and running this place to the ground. Sure you may have customers but Not repeat customers because you treat them like trash. This place also lacks consistency, the food is never prepared the same, the quality is not there, also I ordered two 14 piece wings extra well done and they were are soggy/fatty/undercooked and overly drenched in buffalo sauce to the point thy weren’t even edible. I ordered a large buffalo bill and it was undercooked/pale too like it was made in a rush. I ordered a Vegan ziti pasta that was completely pale and undercooked. I ordered 2 large Cesar salads and was given 2 Real Cheese Cesar’s which we couldn’t eat because they were covered in real cheese. We ordered potatoes wedges and those were the only good thing! I ordered a bunch of of extra sauces extra Cesar, extra buffalo, extra vegan ranch to dip my pizza, wings, wedges and for my salad and was given only 3 ranch and they were all regular ranch Not Vegan, I started to feel sick when on my drive home I ate wedges dipped in ranch, So we called the restaurant to ask if he gave us regular ranch or vegan and he said regular ranch and lied and said there was vegan ranch too, but that he’d refund the sauces. We drove 8 miles back to the restaurant and 8 miles home,so 16 extra miles to pick up the vegan ranch and all the other sauces he’d forgot, but we hadn’t opened up the two salad bags so at that time we didn’t know that we had been given real cheese salads and we found that out when we got home and called the restaurant again and he said he’d give us a refund on the salads which we never got back on our card. It was such a bad experience and it sucks because we enjoy the food when it’s done correctly as ordered but we are treated like our business isn’t welcomed here. I also feel like it’s racism and sexism going on here, seems like if you’re not a dark skinned Latino or male then you won’t be treated with respect here by the employees. I’m done with this place. I’ve had too many bad experiences here
I love this place. Changing my 5 star to 1 star, because I was pushed out... I came here to relax and calm down and meet friends, order some pizza and have a good time. I figured I could be happy here. I sat in the car for a moment. Was getting ready to get out. A guy approached me and told me to leave. The guy that was telling me to go was raza too. I've been here so many times, so many good memories from going after we throw an event at Self Help. I'm used to parking here as it has never ever been a problem. I just had to take a breather and take a quick dr call. It was real quick less then 5 min. I guess I didn't look like a person that should park there? This guy told me that I have to leave and not occupy the parking lot. I then took a personal call. He said I can't be here waiting unless I order, I must take my call inside, even if it's personal. My wait was less than 5 minutes. He said I can't be here. I told him I was there to buy pizza. I truly was. I was also waiting for friends. He didn't believe me. I've been a customer before many times. I recently dyed my hair brown from blonde, idk if that changed anything... It was such a stressful interaction. He tried to act like he didn't push me out when I went into the restaurant. Get off my call and buy. I've never ever ever had that happen there. I am sure if I looked different he wouldn't talk down to me like that. Why be in East LA if you don't like East LA people. Basically told me hurry up and buy. We ended up just driving down the street and going to try the Pinks. Guess it ended up ok.
