Such a hidden gem. Fresh handmade pasta. We love the TAGLIATELLE VERDI AL RAGU. Also super thoughtful decor. Everything from tables to utensils/plates are thoughtfully selected. Lovely ambience. They also apparently sell fresh truffle (we never bought any since we don’t cook truffle at home).
The pasta dishes are outstanding and bring a true taste of Italy to the table. Dining here feels like a little escape, with rich flavors and authentic touches throughout. Easily one of the top spots for Italian food around the Brentwood area.
I've seen Casa Modena a few times in my searches for new spots to try. My wife and I made an 830pm reservation. We arrived and literally thought they were closed. We went in and sat down in a beautifully decorated dining area. Italian plates on the walls, authentic dining tables from Italian homes, pictures, and books of Italy all over. Our meals were phenomenal. Why is this place not packed? There was not one thing for me to complain about, which is rare. We will be eating here a lot more, and you should too...
Casa Modena is a gem tucked into a small shopping area in Brentwood on Wilshire where you'll get amazing food (the home made thin layers of pasta in the lasagne is the stuff of DREAMS) wonderful service from Umberto, and the feeling of local neighborhood spot from the moment you walk in the door. After living in Italy for 5 years, this makes me miss true Italian food, culture, and language so much!
Best Italian meal since we left Italy!!! Authentic food, pasta cooked to perfection, generous portions & adorable ambiance. This place is so much better than Capo, Felix, Via Veneto which we have been to many times. These are all family recipes passed down generations. We came for DineLA which was a fantastic deal at $59 for 4 courses. Two of the four courses were topped with truffle and this restaurant serves the most generous portions of truffle I’ve seen! It’s a steal! $59 Dinner Menu: _Crostini Burata e Tartufo - simple, elegant, packed with flavor. Perfect way to start the meal. _Tagliolini al Tartufo - hands down my favorite dish. Comparable to Spago’s white truffle pasta at $130 - no joke. _ New York Steak, Arugula, Shaved goat cheese & 12 year aged balsamic - perfectly cooked, tender, I’m gonna top my steaks with balsamic at home. It’s amazing. _ Dessert profiteroles - not too sweet, crispy & filled with luscious cream and Italian candies. _ $18 Tagliatelle Verdi al Ragu (Bolognese) added this to share and for 2 people it was a ton of food. This dish is their Grandmothers recipe. One of my favorites! Best, friendly service by Nico. He knows his food and wine. He recommended a fantastic wine Reasonable prices for Wine at $8 & $10 for our Super Tuscan & Negramaro. Dog friendly patio & Nico our Server even asked if our pup needed water. Doesn’t happen all of the time and I really appreciate when they ask. The Marketplace is filled with authentic Italian pastas, sauces, olive oils, balsamic vinegar and the like. We bought a jar of house made minced white truffles. Nico says to scoop one spoon over each serving of pasta & a spoon of pasta water and that’s it - perfect pasta dish. Can’t wait. Casa Modena is now one of favorite restaurants in LA!
Fantastic food. Mediocre service. Slow!!! But such a nice environment it was OK!! We got the Black Truffle Prix Fixe. I'll definitely return to try more.
😷 Safety: staff wear masks, everyone is seated at a great distance from each other. Sitting is only outside on a nice patio with a roof. 🥗 Food: AMAZING. It was so delicious!!! don't forget to leave some space for dessert. Tiramisu and panna cotta were just so good. 🍸Booze: haven't ordered any this time, but they have good choice in their list. 🛋️ Interior: it's cozy and an owner is very nice and welcoming
Out of the way gem! Parking lot is tiny and shared by three restaurants. The food is phenomenal, portions might be a little small but everything was fresh, delicious and handmade. I will be back.
Very nice restaurant with good food and a super nice owner. He recommend me some nice red wine and a pasta. You can also get some really good coffee after dinner, which is nice for a European.
Have never had a bad meal here! EVER! Hidden gem of Italian cuisine!! We loved the sauce so much in the Tiger Shrimp appetizer, they made us 2 quarts to go! Now that's service at its best!
Amazing pastas- feels just like you’re dining in Italy. Some of the best Italian food in the Brentwood area.
Beautifully humble little restaurant. Feels like home, with the exceptional hospitality and comforting food as home as well. Had the pleasure of meeting Umberto, and seeing his family photos decorated over the dining area walls. Luciana left you in good hands Umberto, thank you for the delectable lunch today! Look forward to coming back very soon.
So happy my fiancé and I tried this restaurant! I called the restaurant directly and placed an order for pick up. The food was SO GOOD - my fiancé said it was the best steak and pasta he's had in years! Also, HUGE PERK!! If you place a takeout order of $100 or more over the phone, you get a free bottle of chianti! Definitely recommend ordering from Casa Modena!
Unassuming but absolute gem. All Italian staff. Our server who I believe is also the owner was charming and brought us homemade macaroons to end the meal. Truffle pastas are to die for. As authentic as it gets.
I don't write a lot of reviews unless it is something really worth mentioning. I used to live in Italy on 2 occasions when I was younger and when returning to the US, have been disappointed constantly in trying to find a place truly authentic. The reviews of Casa Modena were promising and I walked 15mins from my hotel to check it out. I can say that this place is well worth your time if you would like an authentic italian experience. The prices are appropriate for what you are getting but this is not fast food and it is not a chain italian restaurant. If you are looking for a proper Italian dinner with wine and multiple courses, expect to spend $50+ per person. If you are only looking for some quick pasta or something, there are several options under $20 all worth the price. It has been some time that I was able to go into an italian restaurant, speak italian (even poorly), get good food, have an authentic experience, and be satisfied with money well spent. I wish they had pizzas but other than that, great place. One extra note, when I went on a Wednesday evening, the tables were staffed by 2 servers who alternate attention to the tables. I did not find this troubling or problematic. It seemed appropriate for the volume in the restaurant, and did not sacrifice service. It will not be the same chatty server experience found elsewhere which I feel is typical for the cuisine and probably also by design.
Hidden gem in Culver City near LAX. Although prices are on the high end, the owner takes great care and service. Food was awesome with lots of truffle on top for you

Food was delicious. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Dog friendly patio is a big plus. Highly recommend the filleto and the tiramisu.

Very cute Italian restaurant. I like the portion sizes but it is expensive for what you get. They’ll ask you if you want sparkling or still water. I thought still was tap but it’s just non-sparkling bottled water. So if you don’t wanna pay 5$ for imported Italian bottled water, ask for tap. That being said it was pretty good water lol. We got the bruschetta, penne arrabiata (meat free, spicy 😋), fussiloni alls salsiccia tallegio and salmon. I felt the salmon was a little over cooked/chewy however the sauce it came in was very good. It came w mashed potatoes but photos online showed veggies. I would have preferred the veggies but the potatoes were good. Some ppl might’ve preferred it more smooth but I liked it how it was. I didn’t try the fussiloni dish but my husband said it tasted “musky.” He knows that sounds “bad” but he really enjoyed it but didn’t have another word to describe it. Bruschetta (4 slices of bread) was good but bc we also got free bread after our appetizer , I wish they would’ve just added more bruschetta topping to the free bread slices (4) since the price for 4 small bruschetta slices was a lot (13$) Really enjoyed the ambience. Very cute and eclectic inside. Reviews kept saying the restaurant is always empty but when we went, there was one other family there and during our dinner, two more parties arrived. The restaurant isn’t huge so 4 parties seemed like a lot !
Came for dinner - their covered patio had plenty of charm and romance and was a very comfortable temperature on a late evening in October. We had the lasagna, tagliatelle Verdi al ragú, bruschetta and the panna cotta. The restaurant had a wonderfully welcome and inviting feeling that immediately makes everyone feel comfortable. The meal was tasty and the setting was unique. This is a special place for a meal.
My favorite pasta dish is now the Fusilloni alla Salsiccia e Taleggio here at Casa Modena. Any Italian place can make pasta, but to make it like this? Rare! I do think the prices are a bit steep, but still find it to be a nice future date night spot. It's right on the corner of Mesmer and Jefferson in an oddly-shaped, teeny-weeny parking lot, but don't worry--plenty of spots on the street. Great find on the edge of Culver City.
