Opinions de Cielito Lindo Los Angeles
This place is quintessentially Los Angeles Mexican Food in a nutshell. It's historic, the food is all made from scratch and the flavors as a result are magnificent.
It is an absolutely beautiful place to visit--and the food is probably the best there is--a rich history (almost 100 years) that is very much evidence of the beauty and majesty that is Los Angeles in the heart of Olivera Street.
El Rancho Grande, October 31, 2024, On 🎃Hollween Day👻 me & my family had came here to enjoy the best "Taquitos & 🥑 Guacamole Sauce" around here in (Olvera Street) is a true family tradition for years & their 🌮 Tacos & Enchilada's was just as good plus the beans & rice & salad you get with the combos or just as side orders. The Horchata & Jamaica was so delicious & tasty 😋 plus don't forget the 🌶️ chile salsa red or green. "Thank You" to your family for the years of great Spanish food & keeping the tradition alive. Viva! Marie Cajero & her family & descendants. 🇲🇽 🎉🎊 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s Great Job! 😎👍
El Rancho Grande is a hidden gem that brings the flavors of Mexico to Los Angeles in the most authentic and delightful way possible. Located in [insert address], this restaurant has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots for Mexican cuisine. The moment you step inside El Rancho Grande, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor, colorful artwork, and traditional music create an ambiance that immediately transports you to Mexico. It's the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. The menu at El Rancho Grande is a true celebration of Mexican culinary traditions. From classic dishes like enchiladas and tacos to more unique specialties, they offer a wide variety of options that cater to every palate. The flavors are rich, vibrant, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite is a taste of Mexico's finest ingredients and culinary techniques. One of the standout dishes at El Rancho Grande is their mouthwatering carne asada. The meat is tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, making it an absolute treat for the taste buds. Paired with their homemade salsas and freshly made tortillas, it's a true delight that keeps me coming back for more.
It’s looks pretty longtime of his owner still same person ever since my first came here a El Rancho Grande restaurant on Olivera Street in Spring of 1993s, He’s been here almost over than years because of his family business was here, ( I Dunno 🤷♂️, I thinks possible dat early in 1930s) Right here have a too small space with eight tables. Depending how popular gets nearly crowded on weekends and less crowds of the weeks. I liked here because it’s inexpensive worthy food really deliciously it! Yum! 😋
This place has a soft spot in my heart, been coming since I was a child and my parents came to eat here since the 70's. Nacho (the tall gentleman) is always friendly, takes a quick order, and preps your food. You're here for an affordable, genuine home style meal, taquitos in particular. Prices have closely crept up over the years but you can get a meal for around $12 (including small drink). I usually order a #4 - 2 taquitos 1 cheese enchilada, beans with cheese and iceberg salad with tomatoes, and add an extra order of taquitos just to make my trip with it. It's a small dine-in with quick turnover on the tables. All meals are made as soon as you order so everything is fresh. My only complaint is that the sauces are not spicy, very mild, BUT they have good flavor. Tacos, bean and cheese burritos, enchiladas, sopes, quesadillas, and tostadas. Make sure to wash it all down with an horchata or Jamaica. Be warned, parking is a pain in the general area. There's a small parking lot directly behind Rancho Grande but they charge by time if you just want to make a quick stop (and I mean quick) to avoid the $15+ flat fee parking lots around.
Absolutely wonderful. I was walking around while waiting for a connecting train, and found this gem. I felt so welcomed! They made me a delicious breakfast and horchata, and my soul was full ☺️🌶️
I loved the food and especially their service. They were on top of it. Checking to see if everything was good.
Very tasty food, friendly staff, versatile atmosphere
I’ve enjoyed dining at El Rancho Grande several times, especially for their tasty tacos and classic Mexican favorites. The ingredients are fresh, and the portions are quite hearty. It’s a great place for a relaxed, satisfying meal.
My wife and I have enjoyed the “Numero tres” and multiple “dos de dos” for over 40 years. The family are always kind and respectful and the Taquitos are the bomb. My wife’s grandmother use to take her boys (my father in law) back in the 1940’s. Now my children love to go and hopefully soon they’ll bring their children to continue in the enjoyment of “Una numero tres por favor!” Thank you El Rancho Grande for being such a wonderful memory for our families. God bless you with many more memories to come.
It's a Historic place to stroll. Get some souvenirs, see the famously known "The Sepulveda " and History is amazing. The food is mouth watering and especially the world famous hot sauce at Cielito Lindo e23 Olvera St, Los Angeles, CA 90012.... Revisited on 09/30/2025.........
This is a landmark of Olvera Street. You can find it open even when the tiny shops are closed. It stays open late and it’s a great little spot to get traditional Mexican food. It’s even worth it to go here from the Union Station to get some food and walk back to the Union Station. Their chips and salsa is really good. Sometimes there is mariachis playing music snd singing along Olvera Street. If you are in the area make sure you visit this iconic restaurant.
Classic and a must when in DTLA, Olvera Street has many places to choose from, but this is always my go-to. The prices are affordable, they fry the taquitos fresh, and the more green sauce, the better. This is a historic spot with limited seating, but it doesn't matter because the local market makes you want to walk around while eating.
This joint is over a hundred years old. Famous for their taquitos that come smothered in a homemade green avocado salsa. Re-made famous by Anthony Bourdain, may he rest in peace. That green salsa is key. It’s basically a science. The end of the taquito sticks up out of the salsa. Allowing a full spectrum of crunch to be experienced as you delve into the entire taquito. Normally, taquitos are too crunchy. Or too soggy. But these have the perfect texture. Taquitos are not the only thing on the menu. Their burritos come with a huge, delicious flour tortilla shell. At first I was confused why my burrito came with a fork and knife. Until I tried to eat it! It is big and juicy and just does not stay together in your hands. Which is totally fine by me. I got their veggie burrito with no cheese. It came with sautéed potatoes in a soyrizo blend, and beans. I was totally in my comfort zone. I saved half and asked for a piece of foil to take the rest home. They have a red salsa on the side in large squeeze bottles. Totally recommend adding some of that hot sauce onto your heavenly plate of goodness if you are a fan of hot and spicy.
So tasty! I had the taquitos with tamale. They were out of beef and chicken tamale so I had the queso and chile tamale. It was spicy but well seasoned and yummy! Perfect place to grab food before or …

Took the metrolink to Olvera Street to get some good eats! After reading a few reviews, our first stop was El Rancho Grande. Very friendly, reasonable prices and good food.
It is a small place in the middle of the market. The food was delicious. The waiter was nice and it was not so expensive.
Quick service Mexican restaurant. Menu is pretty limited, but seem willing to make something not in the menu, if it's a variation of something they serve. The enchiladas were very good and flavorful, the taquitos were a bit dry with minimal filling inside. The red salsa was amazing, would definitely recommend buying some chips and red salsa. Close/convenient walking distance to LA Union train station
There are many taquerias on Olvera Street, but our favorite has been El Rancho Grande. Their Taquitos and Guacamole Sauce are the best in my opinion. Their tacos and enchiladas are also very good. The service is always good and they’re usually packed, just wait your turn for a table and be ready to enjoy delicious Taquitos. There is a small lot close to the entrance on one side and two big lots on the other side.
My family went to olvera St for the day and it was great !! So to end the day stopped at El Rancho Grande and it was awesome for us 😍. Took pics with pepe & Jr. Owner and cook.🤣🤣. We even had Mariachi come play a few tunes to top the day off..
Food was Alright customer service was excellent but the food is not for me but other people may like it. It’s something different

Taquitos 5 stars Cold beans 1 star. \n\nNext time I am not ordering beans. It's always hit and miss. If they only heat them up better we would be good.

No love or care put into the food, rude service, long lines for unremarkable food. Taquitos had burnt ends. Workers would not answer basic questions.

Mid taquitos, nothing special other than the location and how long they’ve been in business. The taquitos did not have much flavor and they skimped out on meat. Their avocado sauce also doesn’t taste that great and is super watery. My wife had the chile relleno and as usual, she didn’t finish it so gave me the other half. Relleno was by far much worse than the taquitos. Lacked any flavor and too much batter. Save your money and go somewhere else where rolled taquitos are much better and worth the calories. Just another tourist little trap taking advantage of the location. Oh, and my parents are from Michoacán where flautas reign supreme so I have a little experience with this food type.
Traditions are great but don’t always mean leading edge innovations. So I had been craving guacamole sauce. Watery guacamole according to my friends. We were on date night and decided to stop by and get a taquito plate. Wifey wanted her sauce on the side. She remembers it being very spicy when she had it as a kid. Well the guy at the counter said the magic is the sauce. He was right. Food was ok. Like high end fast food which stands to reason since it’s a small stand in a historic location. Definitely would order again if in the area, but may not be one of my destination spots. Olvera street needs some TLC, maybe a craft brewery. Lots of history and potential to be had.

Lukewarm enchilada with unmelted cheese. It seemed like they just didn't care enough to heat it up. There is so much good Mexican food in LA, I regretted going here.

Very disappointed with my last visit with dia de los muertos - drove from nevada very excited about this day. They were busy so I stood by the counter watching this man who looked like the owner just walk back and forth - people on the tables waiting for their food. After like 15 minutes standing there I did not ever get acknowledged by this man. The service is terrible. If you can organize yourself and get and order of fried tacos in timely manner then there's some work to be done. Unfortunately had to to drive (after paying 20 dollars for parking) to king taco.
