Our host was Chris, We dined during lunch time and it was extremely busy. Nevertheless the less Chris was beyond attentive and his service was accurate and totally memorable. This was and amazing birthday experience and I would recommend not only the venue but Chris the service as well. Kim W.
A friend recommended this spot for brunch, and while the food made it completely worth it, parking was a bit tricky at first. We initially looked within the complex, which surprisingly has no parking, but eventually found street parking nearby. Once we arrived, there was about a 20-minute wait. They do not take reservations, so you have to put your name and phone number down, and they text you when your table is ready. We walked around while waiting, which helped pass the time. Once we were seated, the service was excellent. Everyone was very welcoming, and I believe the restaurant is Black-owned, which I absolutely love. I enjoyed it so much my first visit that I came back two more times with different friends because I wanted everyone to experience it. The chicken and waffles are some of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken is incredibly well seasoned. I always order it extra crispy and it never disappoints. The waffles are also delicious, with several flavor options. I usually stick to the original plain waffle, which is amazing on its own, especially with the brown sugar butter. They also offer a sweet potato waffle, which is one of their best sellers. My friend tried it and loved it. The drinks are another highlight. We usually order either the mimosa flight or the sangria flight. They are flavorful, fun, and perfect for brunch. I would 110% recommend this place. Just be prepared for limited parking and a wait, especially on the weekends.
During a recent visit to Los Angeles, my BFF/sister brought me here for breakfast. I must say the food and experience was top notch!! The chicken and pancakes were SO GOOD, and the brown butter is a must!!, I took half of it back to the hotel. I found a new beverage- pineapple lemonade...I wish I had time to go back and try something else on the menu!😃
This spot was recommended to me as having good food. The food did not disappoint! I arrived about an hour before they closed and was still able to be seated and served without feeling rushed. The food came out quickly, it was hot, my order was correct, and the food was good! The service by the host and bartender were great and I felt right at home. If you're ever in LA or have a layover go check them out. They are very close to LAX and the food was worth the trip! I can't wait to get back out there myself...
We ordered the peach cobbler French toast, taco omelette, breakfast tacos and catfish and grits. We all enjoyed our meals, I especially liked the brioche bread on the French toast. Breakfast tacos were the least interesting I wouldn’t recommend them. Service was a little slow but friendly. We got there at 9:15 and by the time we left at 10:30 it was getting packed.
The Court Cafe – A Must-Visit Soul Food Spot in LA While in Los Angeles, my daughter’s friend insisted we check out The Court Cafe—and wow, we're so glad we did! There was about a 20-minute wait, but let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. From start to finish, the customer service was top-tier—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We kicked things off with their mimosas, and they did not disappoint. My daughter and I ordered the Jolly Rancher mimosa (a refreshing green apple twist), while my dad went with the Strawberry Mango mimosa. Both were delicious and set the tone for an incredible meal. For food, I chose the Lobster & Grits—a 5 oz deep-fried lobster tail served over creamy smoked Gouda grits, topped with a flavorful etouffée sauce. My daughter had the Catfish & Grits, and my dad ordered the Big Back Grits. We also shared a side of pancakes—and let me just say, those pancakes were among the best I’ve ever had. If you're ever in LA, The Court Cafe needs to be on your foodie bucket list. We’re already planning to go back next trip!
BE PATIENT!! I can’t say it enough! The initial wait was long, once our wait was over the food came out quick and fresh. Our waiter was amazing! She was so busy not once did she miss a beat. Frequently checked to make sure we had everything we need. The vegan shrimp and grit were perfect. Shrimp and grits well seasoned did not need extra salt. Strawberry waffle was FIRE! Tastes like a fresh baked strawberry cake no syrup required. Parking was horrible.
The food was amazing, fresh and delicious. It came out pretty fast, the service was great. The mimosa tropical flight was very pleasant. We ate shrimp and grits, catfish and grits, and strawberry crunch pancakes. I would rate the food 10/10, drinks 10/10, service 10/10. The atmosphere was light and pleasant, the walls were full of nostalgic memories.
We had a large party and they quickly and efficiently sat us and brought our water and menus. The service was great and the food tastes amazing! I had the taco omelette with home fries. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The home fries were cooked to perfection. The ketchup had a fresh taste to it; not like it'd been sitting in a bottle for days. I also had a really good strawberry/pineapple mimosa. They have a very interesting mimosa menu. I wanted to try more flavors but I'd just met the people I was dining with and wanted to keep it cute with just 1 mimosa. But... Next time I'm in Inglewood, I'm definitely stopping by here.
My wife and I visited this establishment and were truly impressed with the quality of the food and wholesome atmosphere. They are a bit pricey, but again, well worth it. I had the catfish and grits. That fish was incredibly fried to perfection. My wife had the big back breakfast . It had fish, shrimp and lobster tails, eggs, potatoes, and toast. I will definitely eat there again
I’ve been to this restaurant many times and I’ve never had a bad experience. I love that it’s family-owned and the food is always on point with phenomenal service to match. Our server, Dinora, was super attentive and friendly. We ordered the build-your-own breakfast platter with catfish and the veggie omelette which were excellent choices. The strawberry and pineapple mimosas were a nice touch. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and even though it was busy, there was plenty of seating and the wait time was only about 5–10 minutes. All in all, the experience here is always great. This place is definitely a must visit!
I went to the Cort Restaurant Sunday Evening. The waiter was great. His service was great. I can't remember his name. He was a black Gentleman who been working there about 7 months. The food was good , but what surprised me was the extra service charge that was on the bill. I didn't notice it on the menu butIthought it was a bit excessive. Also we wanted to order the kids meal wing and fries extra to go along with our order and was told that we couldn't because we didn't have kids there with us. It shouldn't matter if we're spending money we should be able to order what we want. We couldn't take food home to our daughter.
First time here, I celebrated my birthday 10/7 with my friend and my aunt and we had a great experience. All three of us ordered the Big Back Grits that came with four jumbo shrimps, and two pieces of catfish that was perfectly cooked and was covered with their famous étouffée sauce that complements the entire entree. We also ordered their various lemonades that were excellent and a side waffle that we tried with the brown sugar butter and the peach cobbler butter with warm syrup to pour over. Those were excellent as well. The reason for the four stars is that I did not agree with their 12% automatic fee they charge to dine in customers in order to supplement their expenses they incur on their food & other items. Because of this, I will not be dining in anymore. This fee should be discretionary. Be responsible for your own expenses. Don’t try to force your customers to pay your expenses when we’re already patronizing your establishment for support.
Hey, you guys, so im back with my review on The Court Cafe. The parking is like none so you might get lucky and find a park in that parking lot but it's small so you probably will have to find street parking. The restaurant is small inside, but it is packed with vibes and flavor. The wait was about 20 minutes. I had my kids and grandbaby with me, so it was not a lot of room for a stroller, and we have the Doona. The setup wasn't bad, but they had the bar like to the back. I did not order drinks like that, but the people that did got the mimosa flight. I had the blueberry lemonade, and my daughter has the strawberry lemonade. It was good. I ordered a variety of things so yall can see and decide if you wanna try these items. So we ordered the chicken with red velvet waffles, which was actually really good. The chicken was good and seasoned, but tell them to cook it a little harder because those some big pieces. I got the fried lobster tail with the sweet potato waffles, and let me tell yall those dang waffles are so delicious and a ten out of 10 period. The lobster was good and seasoned. My other child got the fried shrimp with waffles and Nutella and bananas that was ok. The shrimp was on point, though. We also ordered the strawberry waffles with the fried lobster that was ok. Then we ordered being extras just being ridiculous we got the pancakes with Nutella they were really good we ordered the peach cobbler French toast but it was ok because they gave us some like end pieces of the bread and they were thick as hell. Like a 3 out of 10... lastly, we ordered the catfish and shrimp with grits, and the catfish was good. The shrimp was good, but the grits were ok. My daughter didn't like them, but with the etouffee it tasted a lot better. I didn't use the restroom, yall, so I can't tell yall about that. My bill was about 272.00 and I tipped the lady like 50.00 because she was a vibe and checked on us properly thanks friend.... so yall go try and see... yall know I let yall know whats up.... Later..
The waiter was very friendly, he got all of our orders correct. There is a 12% up charge (read the red writing on the bottom of the menu) . Everyone enjoyed their food, no complaints. It shares a parking lot with a Snoop Dogg dispensary (very interesting). Lines are long so make a reservation if possible.
Made it here on Memorial Day so I will say I’m sure some staff called out that day, I’m speculating since there seemed to only be 2 wait staff. He was super friendly, apologetic & was doing his best. The food was really good. I had the fish & grits, I also tried the sweet potato pancakes, YUM! Friends had chicken & waffles & said it was really good. The chicken sausage was good heavy on the Sage if that’s your thing. Overall the food was good, I would go back & besides the wait & lack of maybe one more server or host this place was good. We got lucky to find parking but it seemed to be possibly a little difficult. Wait time was about 45 minutes
If you are craving some soul food like chicken & Waffles or shrimp and grits, this spot is food you. Great customer service, our waiter was friendly, check on us regularly. I don’t recommend the French toast, not a fan of the bread used, a little dry. Top items to order the shrimp and grits, chicken & waffles, and the pancakes. You gonna want another order of the wings. Crispy, flavorful, and juicy, don’t forget to add the hot sauce. Very little parking, but what part of LA isn’t lol. To drink the homemade strawberry lemonade and pineapple lavender mimosa.
The Court.... have you had their shrimps and grits... they have some good chicken there. So I went today to give them a try. They were packed so I felt good about trying out the food. Ordered the grits and chicken wings. Grits were ok nothing special about them. Chicken was under cooked and lacked seasoning. They were big wings tho wished they tasted good 😞. Don't know what the hype is about... but under cooked wings so a no return for me.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. My group and I arrived around 11:00 AM today (4/26/25)but weren’t seated until 12:30 PM. We ordered peach cobbler oatmeal, chicken and waffles, strawberry shortcake waffle, scrambled eggs with cheese, and the tropical mimosas flight. Our total was $111.47, which we paid in cash ($130), but we were never given a receipt. The waitress that we had was fine but everything else is very disappointing We were seated by the door where there was a strong draft of cold air. Despite repeatedly asking to move, we were not accommodated. Shortly after leaving, we all became very sick with food poisoning symptoms, including severe vomiting. We also took pictures of some of the food items before leaving. When we called the restaurant to report what happened, the person who answered the phone gave us an incorrect email address and basically told us there was nothing they could do. Completely unprofessional and dismissive. This was a highly disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this restaurant based on both the food safety concerns and the poor customer service.
I ordered at the store and waited there for my order. When I open my take out box (while in store) My fries had oil dripping from it and they were fried in a very old oil by the color. The burger came in pieces, like someone had shaken the box, it had no flavor at all. I’m not sure if they forgot the salt and everything else. It was pretty plain and tasteless. I couldn’t eat the fries, they were soggy and burnt. I would not recommend it!
