Opinions de Darya Persian Cuisine Los Angeles
Came here for lunch with our bosses and co-workers. I was told this has the best Persian food, and it didn't disappoint. I tried everything they ordered, and everything was definitely made with love. The chicken kebobs were my favorite. The service here is A1. They are very attentive and kind. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for any occasion. It's a must try.
Lovely place with amazing staff! We loved the tahdig mix and koobideh! Just know that the portions are huge and I advise to share each plate between 2 people
The food is great, fantastic. Overall we all liked our dishes. Our server seemed to be in a bit of a hurry though, not sure why. Luckily, Amir was available and we got to chat with him for a bit. We enjoyed learning about the background of the food, his background, and he helped us out with some bread as well. Be aware, the parking lot is meant to be used for them.
Found out about this place through Instagram, and it definitely did not disappoint. The ambiance, the food, and the customer service were all wonderful. The waiter recommended the lamb choices for the best meat, along with filet mignon kabobs. We decided to stick with the lamb choices, and he was so correct. They were both delicious. One of them was the rack of lamb, and the other was the lamb shish kebab. We will definitely be back! Thank you again for a great night.
I’m always on the lookout for new Persian restaurants, and while passing through Santa Monica we found Darya. At first it looked a bit old, but the warm welcome from the host immediately changed my mind. Our server was polite and professional, and the food was the real star. I ordered the chicken kabob—so flavorful and tender it literally melted in your mouth. Id definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some awesome persian food.
This place is so great. They have the best salmon. My phone is acting up so I did not get a photo of it, but trust me, it is the best. It is a nice portion and it is cooked to perfection. This Darya is in Santa Monica, but I consider it the West Side. It matters not. The food is amazing. We love Persian food and often forget to go, but we have been to a few in the past month and are hooked again. Darya is just lovely. It is very comfortable and the lighting is perfect. It is clean inside and out. It has an adorable awing outside so you won't miss the place. The service is very nice. It takes a minute to get your food, but when you do it is cooked to perfection and ever so good. There is nothing we don't like on the menu. They carry a yogurt type soda and that is just weird, but everything else is great. I love their salmon and all of their chicken dishes. Their Zereshk Polo has steamed white rice mixed with barberries and is served with the best seasoned slow-boiled chicken. We also love their lentil soup, which is something I never order elsewhere. It is just so comforting. All of their salads are great, our favorite being the Darya Salad which is a combination of Romaine lettuce, mixed greens tossed with tomatoes, cucumbers, lentils, raisins, dates, imported feta cheese, walnuts, and great olives. You just can't go wrong here. The prices are fair for what you get and you will want to nap when done.
Darya Restaurant in Santa Monica is an outstanding Persian dining experience! The food is flavorful, authentic, and beautifully presented from the tender kabobs and fragrant saffron rice to the fresh salads and perfectly seasoned stews. You can taste the quality and care in every dish. The ambiance is elegant yet comfortable, making it perfect for both family dinners and special occasions. The staff is warm and welcoming, always making sure you’re well taken care of. If you’re looking for authentic Persian cuisine with excellent service and a great atmosphere, Darya is one of the best spots on the Westside truly a hidden gem!
The food was good a solid Persian spot. I thought that the kashke badenjoon was very average and could have been better it needed more mint in it. The chicken kabob was very good, flavorful and juicy. The barg and koobideh was also flavorful and juicy. Not very tough. I’d rate this a 7/10 as far all the Persian places I’ve been to across to country. The inside of the place didn’t seem that nice and the parking was a bit weird. Still im being very nit picky and these things aren’t much of a problem. The portions are large and the price was very good for what you get. Highly recommend and will come again
This is the best Iranian food I've ever tasted in the US. The atmosphere reminded me of an old-fashioned restaurant in Iran, which was quite nostalgic. Both the gheymeh bademjan and koobideh were delicious. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. I highly recommend it! Although the presentation could be improved—I would prefer to see the eggplant served in a stew—it didn't detract from the overall experience.
We went to the other Darya restaurant in OC and had a great experience, so we know the food here is good and authentic. As in every Persian restaurant, the portion was decent with huge piles of rice with different toppings and flavors. We ordered the rice sampler with three different flavors, smoky eggplant paste as appetizer, and a HUGE meat platter with grilled chicken, beef koobideh and filet mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection, tons of juice and flavors! Highly recommend.
My experience at Darya was simply outstanding! The Kebab Koobideh and Rack of Lamb were perfectly cooked – juicy, flavorful, and truly memorable. A big thank you to Amin, our waiter, who went above and beyond to make our evening special. He was super friendly, patient, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. This was a dining experience to remember. Highly recommend Darya if you’re looking for delicious Persian food and amazing service!
We’ve dined at other Darya restaurant locations, however this one takes the cake. Although the location and the exterior of the restaurant don’t look impressive, once you walk in, things look much better. This spacious restaurant offers, large portions, delicious kabobs, Persian long grain rice with saffron and so many other delicious dishes. We loved everything we ordered as well as their Shirazi salad (small chopped Persian cucumbers, tomatoes and onions with lemon juice, olive oil and herbs.
One of the best Persian restaurants in LA with food tasting authentic and homemade right from heart of Tehran. Darya is always my #1 recommendation of Persian restaurant to my non-Persians friends when I wanna have them taste OG Persian food. The thing that impresses me most is getting the taste of stews right as we call “mom-cooked” taste and Darya is the one I swear by. Esp their Fesenjan & Ghormeh Sabzi stews. Their kabobs are up there too. My most favorite and recommendation is Barg. Also their juicy chicken is great but I deducted one star cause there have been a few occasions when I order the juicy chicken but it was very dry. And I had it ordered it for my boyfriend who is not Persian and it was disappointing. Also for to the price, they could do a bit better on salad and sides. I have always offered pickup or delivery but I have seen the inside sitting area, feels very homey and cozy and again reminds me of restaurants of Tehran. Overall this is always my #1 recommendation as Persian restaurant
The outside look of this restaurant does not represent the Inside. Very lovely décor inside. Lunch was pretty busy but service is great. Food does not take long. I had Ghormeh Sabzi. The stew as its described, is different from my understanding. Basically had one type of herb and meat plus the sauce. The sauce taste very strong. I cannot describe the flavor. The prices are not bad. Very reasonable. Stick with the Kabobs.
The rice was extremely greasy, and the portions were half of what you get at most Iranian restaurants. While most Iranian restaurants will give you grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers with your order of Kebab, Darya gives you one grilled tomato. The service is terrible. The Latino servers were nice, but the Iranians were extremely rude which is almost always the case at Iranian restaurants. Our Iranian server left as I was ordering appetizers and came back a couple minutes later, and of course no apologies or anything. I asked her if we could get more bread, and she said "NO". Darya is definitely more expensive than most Iranian restaurants in LA. $11 for mast musir. Overall, Darya is a mediocre Iranian restaurant, nothing special. For better food, bigger portions and better prices go to Shamshiri or Raffi’s. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find any Iranian restaurant with good service.
It was my first time trying Darya Restaurant ,overall it wasn't a very pleasant experience. We ordered 2 dishes, sultani and chicken The only good we had was the Barg (filet) kabob, chicken was very tender and jucy was not cooked well, In closing, I want to say that this was the worst experience I have ever been to in my life. I have never had a good experience with Persian restaurant in LA. I always go to Raffi Place Restaurant in Americana Glendale. It is one of the best and cleanest restaurant in LA, I always wondered why people from Orange County and Irvine came to Rafi's Place restaurant and it was proven.
I genuinely regret spending my money at Darya Restaurant. This place was a complete disaster from start to finish. The food came out cold and my order was totally wrong — which tells me no one in that kitchen is paying attention to anything. When I tried to get it corrected, the staff was unbelievably rude and acted annoyed that I even brought it up. No apology, no accountability, just attitude. That kind of customer service is embarrassing. The restaurant itself looks run down and poorly maintained. It felt dirty, and several employees had noticeable stains on their shirts, which makes you seriously question the cleanliness standards behind the scenes. If you care about decent food, basic hygiene, or respectful service, avoid this place. There are far better persian restaurants
We came for lunch at 12:30 PM and asked for the lunch menu, but the waiter made us order from the dinner menu instead — which had the same items listed at higher prices. We ended up being overcharged. The food was disappointing. The fesenjoon was very sour with barely any walnut, and the baghali polo with lamb had an unpleasant smell. After we paid and left, the server followed us to the parking lot claiming we hadn’t signed, even though we had, clearly hinting for a tip. We felt pressured and gave 10% unwillingly, but they charged us $10 instead, which was completely unexpected. For a restaurant that positions itself as fine dining, the experience felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Very disappointing.
⭐️ Very Disappointing Experience at Darya Restaurant I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience at Darya Restaurant was truly upsetting. When we arrived, there were plenty of empty tables, yet the staff asked us to wait without any explanation. After standing there for a while, they came back and said they didn’t have a seat for two — even though we could clearly see several open tables right in front of us. What made it worse was how rude and dismissive they were. There was no warmth, no courtesy, and no effort to make us feel welcome. We left feeling completely disrespected. Thankfully, we decided to go to Toranj Restaurant instead, and what a difference! The staff there greeted us with genuine smiles, treated us with kindness, and served the most delicious food. It was a reminder of what true hospitality should feel like. Sadly, I can’t recommend Darya Restaurant. Respect and kindness toward customers should come before anything else — and that’s something they seriously need to learn.
I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at this restaurant. I ordered the Albaloo Polo with chicken, and it was absolutely awful. The rice tasted like it had been cooked in chicken stock or something spoiled—it was so bad that after the very first bite I couldn’t eat any more. The chicken was even worse. The smell was so unpleasant and strong that I couldn’t even bring myself to try it; I just pushed it aside. What made it worse was the service. The waiter saw that my food went back completely untouched, yet didn’t even bother to ask if something was wrong. That level of indifference says a lot. Honestly, this was disgusting food and terrible service. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Food here is “NOT HALAL”, so don’t get confused with Mediterranean restaurant. Yes it is Mediterranean but “not halal”. My bad that I didn’t ask before ordering and when food was served, the beef had a different smell. This led me asking the staff that if it’s halal or not. And he went inside and confirmed that it’s not halal so I ended up separating the beef. So if you’re looking for halal options then this place is not right for you.
