Opinions de Donut Man Los Angeles
This place definitely brings a mixture of decadent donuts with messy goodness. The prices are somewhat high per donut but this is a great place to treat yourself or your coworkers. It’s conveniently located in Grand Central Market. *beware the bees, these little guys are attracted to the sweet smell, but the didn’t bother me or the workers and add a bit of charm to the place.
Besides being hot in the market everything was great. The tiger tail was thee best donut I ever had in my life!!!! The strawberry and apple was good too. They so good we ate them so fast I forgot to take a picture of those donuts and you’ll see the tiger tail was already half eaten before I took the picture. We don’t go downtown much but we will definitely be back here to try all the donuts!!! #BigBackBehaviot
Wanted to try these donuts for years now. Went in and the woman behind the counter was so nice. She gave us recommendations for another food spot next to them that was also amazing. She gave us free donuts added to our order too. I had the strawberry donut that was soo good and the one my girl got was the custard one which was way better than Krispy Kreme amd I always swear by Krispy Kreme. This place is the real deal.
My wife and I were at Grand Central Market two weekends ago. It amazes me how strong the mom and pop donut shops are in Southern California. We walked past The Donut Man as one of their employees was putting all of those fresh strawberries into the donut. We knew we had to have one! It was $6.00, but it was big enough that two people could share it. It was one of the freshest donuts I have ever had. The taste of the donut kind of reminded me of funnel cake from the boardwalk. Sometimes you just have to splurge! I understand why they have been around since the early 1970s.
Finally checked out Grand Central Market in DTLA (Recommend going on a weekday since the place was packed and lines were long😥) Decided to grab some Strawberry Donuts for brekkie and for friends since they had another branch here👍 Wait was long, waited about 15 minutes but could see them making fresh donuts as we creeped closer to the register. Once i ordered, the donuts were boxed fast.... Now the hard part was getting out of their small parkimg garage 😥😥 Probably would recommend the Glendora store if you dont like crowds or traffic👍
I haven’t been here at Grand Central for years. I happened to have an assignment in the area and happened to run into this donut place. I stopped and purchased a couple of their glazed donuts. I think their specialities are their fruit donuts but I am not a fruity person. The donuts were still warm when they served them to me. The staff were friendly. I have another assignment their next week so I will for sure stop by again. I definitely recommend this donuts place when in Downtown LA area.
Maybe the best donuts I’ve ever had! Made fresh right in front of you. The donuts themselves are delicate and have a great flavor. The stuffed ones I had expected to be overly sweet and make me feel way too full. I’m happy to say they are not overly sweet or filling! You can taste that everything is fresh and high quality. I’m so glad they opened in the grand central market, which is way closer to me than their main location in Glendora. We went between 8-9am and only had to wait a minute. Will be back!
Exhausted Canadian tourists stopped for sugar and caffeine refreshment. Family of 4 odered 2 ice coffees and 2 fresh orange juices and 2 signature strawberry donuts. I give 3star for coffee, 5 star for orange juice. It was fresh squeezed juice. It was worth for the price of juice not like other store. 5 star for the strawberry donut. Strawberry was so fresh and tasted real fresh fruit. Quality of dough was excellent, too. But don't order too many(for those eat small people). I donut for 2 people is plenty for us. I will definitely recommend to everyone. But there were a lot of homeless people outside patio.
Came here when I was visiting the Grand Central Market and I saw the window case showing all these cool donuts and decided I had to get it! I got the strawberry filled, sprinkled and Boston cream donuts and these were some of the best donuts I ever ate! Absolutely flavorful and the size of the donuts were also great! It was a bit steep in price though ($16 for the three), but it was really good. I recommend to eat this as a dessert when you’re here!
We were on a sugar mission, and Donut Man at Central Market answered the call like a sugary superhero. Craving sweets? More like desperately needing a donut intervention. One bite of that legendary strawberry donut, and suddenly we were in a rom-com montage of pure joy. My wife said, “This is life-changing,” and I’m not convinced she wasn’t talking about the donut. 10/10, would risk a sugar coma again. Donut Man, you complete us.
went here for something sweet after dinner, the strawberry stuffed donuts are what they’re known for and are their most advertised donut but are definitely more for looks than flavor! however, they are FANTASTIC donuts overall. we got the strawberry stuffed, apple stuffed, raspberry jelly, and cinnamon crumble. at the bottom is strawberry stuffed, it was tasty but would be better if the strawberries were cubed like the apples but i understand the look of the donut is very appealing with the large, whole strawberries. next is raspberry jelly, this was a great donut! but for me the filling was very starchy, more starch than raspberry. i liked that it was not too sweet though! second for me was the apple donut! it was great. hesitant to get an apple donut in the summer but it’s not overly cinnamon-y so it was nice and fresh rather than spiced and warm. the best one to me was the cinnamon crumble! i loved that this wasn’t just a plain donut rolled in cinnamon sugar, it seems to be glazed then rolled in a cinnamon crumble which makes sure the crumble stays on the donut. all the donuts kept great for next day except for the strawberry one which got soggy. overall i would order the cinnamon crumble again but the others were nice to try!
I'm not a donut person, but these are the best donuts we had ! The dough is light and crispy. The filling was abundant and so so good - we had the raspberry jam and the cream cheese and lemon jelly. Even if it's so much stuffing, the whole donut is good and not excessive. There is quite a line waiting, but they are quick to serve. Prices are unusually more than fair, I would venture to say cheap.
I mean how could you go wrong with fresh donuts? As soon as you stumble upon this place you will want to purchase something. Their fresh strawberry and peach donuts are amazing and somehow strike a balance that is not too sweet and makes you coming back for another bite. A perfect way to top off your visit to the market and enjoy a nice sweet treat.
These donuts were amazing! I'm not a donut person and I almost didnt come because I was worried that it'd be overhyped. But after some reddit reading and persuasion from my bf, I bought a box of donuts. Quite expensive for donuts personally, but it was totally worth it!! The donuts are so fluffy. The texture is insanely good. The ones with filling are stuffed to the brim. So worth the cost! And the calories! Tried french cruller, glazed, chocolate glazed, raspberry filled, boston cream filled, peanut butter and jelly filled, along with cinnamon sugar. All of them were so amazing and they tasted so fresh!
Stopped by The Donut Man in Downtown Los Angeles on a rainy day after my gym session and before heading to church. Even with quite a line, the wait was totally worth it! The vibes were cozy, the donuts smelled amazing, and the staff kept the line moving smoothly. I was assisted by Gio at the register, who was super friendly, patient, and provided great customer service even with the rush. I left with three donuts the Pumpkin Cream, the Chocolate with Coconut Flakes, and the Blueberry Cake donut. I can’t wait to share them! Photos attached & they look even better than they taste! Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in DTLA. I’ll definitely be back on a cheat day.
Love these donuts. Made fresh and the strawberries didn’t disappoint. Pleasantly surprised, not overly sweet or artificial taste. Very good quality and service.
The Donut Man at the Grand Central Market is great. Fast service and donuts were fresh. The market has an awesome atmosphere and lots of places to grab a bite to eat. The French crullers were so good as always.
Absolutely worth the hype! The Donut Man is an iconic spot that truly lives up to its reputation. We tried the fresh strawberry donut, and it was a showstopper—juicy, sweet, and bursting with flavor. The chocolate-filled donuts were decadent, and the Tiger Tails had the perfect chew with a satisfying glaze and chocolate twist. Despite the long line, the service was quick and friendly. You can feel the legacy in every bite—handmade goodness since 1972. A must-visit when you're in LA, especially before they sell out
I think I made the right choice by buying the fresh strawberry donut for $7. There are a ton of options but this was their most popular I’d say because they pioneered it nonetheless. I mean the donut itself was pretty standard for LA (note that LA has a lot of homegrown donut shops, like A LOT!) but what stood out in this one is the strawberry jam that coats the strawberry, it is not very sweet and not very tangy as well, it is the right balance. And the texture of the jam is perfect too, not very sticky but not loose as well. It’s weird it’s like they perfected that part of the fresh donut. It basically is pretty amazing! So I’d say it’s worth the hype.
The Baseline: For a donut shop the flavor of donuts must out-weigh the taste of pure sugar, the yeastiness/cake-ness of the donut must be a good consistency, there must be unique/rare offerings that drive me to go there, and the value of the desert must be balanced with the fact I probably just finished a meal. Food: There was a point and time in life that the world did not have donuts. It was a dark time where cooked dough and sugar glazes did not know each other and that was not a good time in history. The donuts at The Donut Man truly helps correct that dark era of history. #1 Fresh Peach Donut - get it-eat it- love it… all in that order. #2 Fresh Apple Donut - get it-eat it-love it… recognize the pattern of what to expect. #3 The Chocolate bar is the basis of understanding the love, because that is how I noticed the yeast quality that came out in the dough and while I may be dealing with a very sweet chocolate glaze top it matches the mellowness of the dough. So follow the formula: Get donut - Eat Donut - Love Donut. The dark times have ended. Service: Great service because Step #1: Get Donut. Also the staff are serving and working hard with a friendly demeanor. Ambiance: Grand Central Market vibes and bustle makes for a good donut hustle. I have no real clue what that means but GCM is a fun spot to get a donut.
No complaints , best donuts I’ve ever had in my life . The lemon one, changed my life.
The Mog Champ sends his regards. Decided to try this popular donut shop for breakfast today. Definitely not disappointed as the donuts were delicious! The strawberry donut were one of their most popular ones and I thought it would be too overwhelming however it felt fine as it wasn't as sweet as I'd expected. They balanced it nicely! I also ordered their normal round glazed which is also high quality, better than what you can get at Krispy Kreme in my opinion. Service was quick and friendly! Thanks for the donuts! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ
So yum!! My partner and I bought a range of donuts and they were all amazing! By far the best donuts we have ever had. Very reasonably priced aswell. The cinnamon roll donut was a standout. So soft and fluffy and the flavour is perfect. We got seconds for the way home 😍
We went in July and happened upon some of the best donuts ever from here, with fresh peaches and strawberries the season lined up perfectly for both. Also tried this lemon custard donut. They were so good some of the best donuts ever! They have benches outside to enjoy the donuts. Please do yourself a favor try these donuts!!!
The strawberry donut is worth traveling for! Remarkable! The others that we got were incredible too, including the cinnamon roll 😋
I came here for a quick donut for breakfast. They have A LOT of options here and honestly these are the kind of donuts that could put Krispy Kreme OUT of business. I got a traditional glazed donut, a devils food cake with sprinkles and a small maple glazed donut (not pictured). These donuts are soft, decadent and absolutely delicious. I paid $6 for 3 donuts. Tik Tok raves about the strawberry donuts so must try those out. This place was great, quick and easy. I highly recommend it.
There’s always a line and for a good reason! This place serves gourmet, classically glazed donuts and they are delicious. They have extra long long bars, and seasonal fruit donuts like their famous strawberry or peach donut, depending on the season. The fruit is fresh and pops out of the donut, it’s so picture worthy on top of being decadent. We got their small sprinkled donut and the chocolate topping that held the sprinkles was rich and creamy. They serve coffee here, you can get a half dozen or a dozen donuts in a box to go. Sometimes you’ll see bees hovering around but they’re totally just interested in the sugar around the area. Located on the corner of Grand Central on the Broadway side of the market.

I have seen this placed being mentioned in various YouTube LA food tour videos, so I tried this world famous fruit donut. To my surprise, it’s not super sweet, which I really appreciate. Donut is crunch and yummy, and strawberry’s freshness gives a reconciled taste to the fried donut. This is a well balanced product. Hope I can try their peach donut in July.
We weren't really interested in the strawberry donut—it looked like it was filled with strawberry and served on a thin, soggy donut. We opted for the tiger tail and apple fritter instead. The tiger tail was okay; it’s a glazed donut with a hint of chocolate, but the flavor was subtle. The real winner was the apple fritter—it had a nice soft, chewy texture with bits of apple inside, and the outside was perfectly crunchy. I’m thinking it’s probably better than my usual donut spot.
Great donuts! Lots of variety to choose from I highly recommend the lemon filled donuts. Some of the regular donuts were a bit average but I highly recommend the fruit based ones. The line up is pretty long so you can use the time to make a decision during the lineup. The prices were reasonably priced for a box of donuts to share.
We ordered 3 donuts and a coffee. The coffee was good and fairly cheap for LA. We got a maple French curler it was about the same as a regular donut shop. The sprinkle cake donut was ok. The last was the $7 strawberry filled. The strawberries were really good, they were naturally a little less sweet and a slight tart but they had a tasty sugar glaze on them that made them very sweet and refreshing. The donut was a title soggy and we didn’t really eat it after we ate the berries. Nice people and quick service. No need to make a special trip here but if you are at the market and want a donut or desert this place will work,
I was passing thru the Grand Central Market after grabbing some lunch from another stall when their strawberry donut caught my eye and called to me. That thing is a beauty to look at and tastes delicious with its freshness. They also sell a lot of other mouth watering donuts and baked goods. Its nice to stop here and get a dessert or something sugary along with all the savory and hearty meals you can find in the grand market.
Really cool do it shop with an extensive selection of donuts at a really great food hall. Definitely worth trying some of the interesting flavours they have.
More than enough options for everyone to find something that they like. Many options. Fair pricing for what you get. Easy to order process. Tried the apple fritter-loved it. Filled just right. The PB&J was cool too but the pink icing I’m not a fan of. It had a pb&j taste though. It was ok. The coconut donut was ok. I got my sweet fix. I wouldn’t rush back but I’d recommend and see why people like this place.

Donut was fluffy and soft. The flavour is a little lacking, it mostly tastes like a plain donut. I think it might take nicer if it was thinner.
I love donuts and these were so good they were soft fresh. I got peanut butter and jelly filled. Delicious. There was a line but got through it quick.
Just near the entrance to the market, you can get the freshest most decadent doughnuts. They fry continuously, just get in the line choose and collect a fresh handmade piece of heaven. The preserves and syrups are just perfect too. The dough itself has a bit of salt which helps balance everything. Really well worth the effort to go here.
The strawberry donut was expensive ($7) but unique, fresh, and refreshing, although the dough is a bit soggy. Bavarian cream donut had good skin, but the filling was way too sweet. I made a mistake ordering the old-fashioned donut, instead of the classic glazed donut which I wanted. The old-fashioned donut was terrible. It was literally a crunchy dried and super sweet sugary overfried dough.
Came to try the strawberry donut. It was good but imo overhyped. The donut base itself was a bit chewier that I’d like. I would also ease on the sugar amount that they used
The Donut Man is a popular donut shop in So Cal; they are known for its fresh, handmade donuts, especially the seasonal strawberry and peach donuts stuffed with real fruit, and the year-round tiger tail. Originally from Glendora, it has expanded to a location in Los Angeles's Grand Central Market. I rarely eat junk sugary pastry but today is the day I cheat. My Glazed donut was my go to flavored donut. And it was soft, sweet and love the crystal glazed appearance. One bite and you’re hooked. I like the variety of donuts they have and the prices were oohhhlala economically competitive. Staff were competent. And their greetings were warm albeit perfunctory. Overall, I enjoyed my last bloody donut of 2025. Now, it’s time to hit the gym.

My group tried the strawberry donut because my group said that it's what they are known for. For me, it was ok. One of my group member and I took the time to wipe off most of the jam since we felt it was excessive. Other than that, they thought it was decent.
The old saying: looks and smells much better than it tastes, sadly, the experience for me! The fresh fruit (strawberry) donut looked so very appealing, appetizing....but, the actual flavour and taste of the accompanying syrup left quite a bit to be desired... unfortunate, because it looked so very mouth-wateringly wonderful! And the price, given the experience, was definitely over-priced....one and done for this doughnut shop product.
Hi, I heard great things about this place and was extremely excited to order the famous fresh strawberry donuts. I ordered a box of those plus some cruellers and cream filled donuts, but when I opened the box at a friend's it was not what I ordered. My box didn't have any of the donuts I ordered, and I ended up paying more for my order than for the box I received. Is there a way to get a refund as I did not get the correct order?
