Berlin Currywurst – A True German Gem in the Heart of DTLA 🇩🇪✨ This was my first time visiting Berlin Currywurst here in Downtown Los Angeles, and honestly, it felt like I took a quick trip straight to Germany without ever leaving the city. The moment you walk in, the energy is warm and inviting — you can tell this is a spot where locals and travelers come together to eat, drink, and vibe. The food was incredible. I tried the classic currywurst and it was bursting with authentic German flavor — the perfect balance of savory sausage, tangy sauce, and just the right amount of spice. You can tell they take pride in keeping things authentic, from the ingredients to the way everything’s served. The German fries were crispy and full of flavor, and the beer selection had a true European touch that made the experience complete. 🍻 I came with a friend, and we ended up meeting a few new people at the bar — everyone was super friendly. It’s one of those rare places in LA where you can actually talk, laugh, and connect with others while enjoying a great meal. The atmosphere is cozy but still lively — perfect for tourists, locals, or anyone looking to switch up their usual DTLA routine. If you’re exploring the Downtown LA area, this spot should definitely be on your list. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before a night out, meeting new people, or just looking for a unique cultural food experience, Berlin Currywurst delivers on all fronts. It’s not just food — it’s a vibe, it’s community, and it’s authentic. Will absolutely be back for round two. 🔥🇩🇪❤️ My first visit to Berlin Currywurst in Downtown Los Angeles was such a pleasant surprise. You don’t come across many places in LA that truly capture the taste and energy of Germany — but this one does it perfectly. It’s more than just a place to eat; it’s a whole experience. The food here is seriously next-level. I went with the traditional currywurst, and you can instantly taste how authentic it is. The sausage was perfectly grilled — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside — and covered in their signature curry ketchup that gives the perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and mildly spicy. Every bite reminded me of the kind of street food you’d find walking through Berlin. They also have different sausage options (pork, beef, and vegan), which I thought was awesome — something for everyone. The German fries are thick, golden, and perfectly seasoned — a must-order side. I also tried the pretzel with mustard, which paired amazingly with my drink. Speaking of drinks, the bar selection is spot-on. They serve authentic German beers on tap and in bottles — from crisp pilsners to darker brews — and each one complements the food perfectly. I tried a Paulaner and later a Bitburger, both refreshing and smooth. If you’re more into cocktails, they’ve got some creative ones too that mix LA-style flair with European influence. The vibe of the place is what seals the deal. It’s laid-back but lively, with a friendly crowd that makes it easy to meet new people. I came here with a friend, and by the end of the night, we’d met locals and travelers from all over the world. The music, lighting, and open setup all make it feel like a cozy neighborhood bar in the middle of Europe — right in the heart of Downtown LA. Whether you’re a foodie, a traveler exploring LA, or just someone looking for a fun spot to hang out and eat something different, Berlin Currywurst is 100% worth a visit. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and the vibe is unmatched. This place truly brings a piece of Berlin to Los Angeles — and I’ll definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. 🍟🌭🍺
Food was delicious bun was a little thicc but it's cool lol potatoes was fire definitely will be bac
Very accessible little spot in the front of GCM. 7 or so seats at the bar, and several tables right across the aisle. Sausages world pretty good, but maybe a touch bland. Brioche rolls are too big for the sausage, and kind of drown it out. French fries were recommended, and 100% on point... Some of the best I've ever had! Worth your time first stop, great grab and go or sit down, whichever works for you!
I see Currywurst. I eat Currywurst. This place nails the Berlin curry ketchup, the sausage was perfect and the fries were amazing and crispy! Highly recommend to any Currywurst lovers or people who’ve never had it.
Quick and friendly service. The Kase sausage with sauerkraut is quite tasty and brings the heat. I suggest the sweet mustard as it compliments the sausage and pairs well with a pretzel and beer :)
I went here because I was looking for a legit Currywurst and i was really satisfied with what I found. There was no lines or wait and the service was fast. I would defined come back.
No wait. Super nice lady behind the counter. Delicious curry flavored ketchup. Reminded me of my mom's cooking.
Currywurst and beer 16 bucks. It’s good to share you know? Nice spot! I recommend you give it a try. 🌭🥨🥨

Berlin Currywurst is a must try. I had the Sausage hash with a Brat and it was amazing! The bratwurst was tasty with a savory curry sauce that wasn’t overpowering. It came with an egg that gave it a creaminess and the roasted potatoes had the right amount of crisp. Definitely would have again!!
This has been my favorite place to eat for many years. The best fries ever and incredible authentic, tasty sausages. I've never been to Germany but I can imagine this is as close to being there as you could get in LA. Thank you for always taking pride in making excellent meals.

Dear. Berlin Currywurst, I love you and I've been loving you for a loooooong time--like since you opened on Sunset in 2012-ish and I used to also frequent your Hollywood location too. I'm a vegetarian and your tofu kielbasa is wonderful, although I do recommend getting it in the curry sauce, or getting the curry sauce on the bun. That curry sauce...dear god, if it weren't spicy, I would bathe in that stuff. Those German fries are thick cut, but somehow light and so flavorful--they actually taste like potato, not a fried salt lick like so many others I've had. I'm munching on a pretzel with your sweet mustard as I write this and it's all a pretzel needs to be--truly. To the naysayers who says it's not like they make them in Berlin...this is Los Angeles...we do what we want here. Never change. You have my heart. Love, Melissa
Ordered beef and chicken sausage with bread and onions grilled. At $9 I was expecting a little more sausage and more flavor. It was ok. The potato’s and fries were great. I like the curry ketchup. I didn’t need much of it. It was different/unique. I love all of their mustards. For a small place, they do well. I’m thinking the sausage should be more of a star. I’m sure it’s a quality sausage. Maybe it should be smoked and larger portion. I’d order fries from here.
April 2024 The hotdog and chips were decent. The chips were unusual as they tasted more like roast potato than chips.

The fries here are spectacular. Seriously some of the best fries I’ve had. I ordered the tofu wurst since I don’t eat meat. It was average, on the dry side. Maybe I was supposed to order sauerkraut with it, I don’t know. It was tasty, but dry. The sauces are delicious. The employees are nice. Overall I recommend it and would come by again for the fries and to try the tofu wurst with sauerkraut.
Good overall: nothing to write home about, but solid and not terribly overpriced. We got a Nuremberg sausage and a käse sausage with sauerkraut and onions and it was satisfying. The beer selection was great - they had Great Nation with a lot of other craft beers. Seating was quaint - there was a nice little bar overlooking the grill. One word of advice for any OCD or super clean person throughout the market: don’t look up 👀
The curry wurst is good, but nothing to write home about. A good quick snack. Though, given all the other good food around here, some of the others might excite me more next time. The wurst was nice and tender, and the bread was good quality fluffy bread. I couldn't taste all that much curry though.
I've been wanting to check this place out for a while, and finally got the opportunity today. Great service, great menu options, and great tasting food, but -- TINY portions at the cost. I really enjoyed the bratwurst breakfast hash, but it was so small that I was still hungry right after finishing. One would think that a bowl of meat and potatoes with egg would be pretty filling, but nah. Literally had to get more food right after eating. I don't mind paying $20 for a meal, but my hope is that it's worth it, and this left me feeling a little buyers/diners remorse. Might be a good place to go if you have a small appetite and don't mind dropping a lot of cash on a very tasty snack.

First time there today and I ordered the basic currywurst to go. I was expecting a sausage sandwich and got a box of a sliced up sausage. The signs say everywhere “on a bun with sauerkraut.” I didn’t even know there was a non-sandwich option. I wish they would have been a little more clear with me. It was not obvious. A long drive and challenging parking to not get what I wanted.
Very mediocre. Even the service. Wasn't very impressed on the taste of the sausage the toppings or sauces. Felt rushed off. I been to the old Hollywood location before and I liked it but really wasn't impressed with this one. In words of Randy Jackson "It's a No for me dog!"
The food was good and fresh. Tasty. Customer service sucked. Very unwelcoming, cold, with a 'whatever' attitude. I get it—this is L.A., everyone has an attitude. You don’t give a damn? OK. I don’t give you a tip (or a positive review).
I saw this place on Instagram. Thought I was about to have a life-altering sausage moment. Spoiler: it’s not. What I got was… well, a hot dog in a bun that looked like it was told to dream bigger but didn’t have the confidence. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine. It’s edible. But it’s not “stand in line at Grand Central Market” fine. And the market itself? Still has the charm, sure, but I miss when “good food for a decent price” wasn’t something you had to dig for like buried treasure. Now it’s just people paying $14 to say “I saw this on TikTok.”

Came back to this spot for this first time after a few months, as this place is very expensive for the small portions you get. They serve me my food, but I had wanted it to-go (they didnt ask), so I asked them to pack it up to-go. Guy with the wispy beard and packers hat throws away probably half my bread and fries for reasons unknown to me. I already paid a whopping $17 for 2 sausages and a handful of fries, why be a jerk on top of it ? The worst part is I tipped too, so I shouldve been getting more generous portions if anything. I regret giving this place a second chance
