Opinions de Kazu Nori Los Angeles
We had a wonderful experience at Beit Al Mandi Al Yemeni. The food was absolutely delicious and very authentic. We were a group of 6 people, and each person paid around $35, which was totally worth it for the quality and quantity. We ordered two mandi lamb dishes, haneeth, okra, gravy, and a variety of salads. Everything was flavorful, well-cooked, and very satisfying. Special thanks to Amani, who provided outstanding service. She was extremely kind, respectful, and attentive. Her professionalism and friendly attitude truly made our dining experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Yemeni food and excellent service. We will definitely come back!
It was my first time trying a Yemeni restaurant, and I will definitely repeat the experience when I come back to Los Angeles. Everything was beyond amazing; the mandi, the lamb liver, and the wonderful Yemeni dishes like haneeth, madhbi chicken, and the fattoush salad. The desserts were great too, especially the crème brûlée, along with the lemon mint juice. Thank you so much you truly made us happy. We appreciate your warm hospitality specially Ahmad and thank you for your excellent taste.
Amazing and Authentic Food! This was a great experience! We went for a birthday dinner with a very large group, and Malik took excellent care of our table. We chose to sit on the floor cushions, which added to the authentic atmosphere. However, if you prefer, they also have regular tables. Just a heads-up, if you go for the cushion seating, you'll need to remove your shoes. Everything was incredibly tasty. We started with lentil soup and fattoush salad, both were delicious, and the salad was one of the best I've ever had. For shared sides, we had Mushakal Forn, a fried mixed vegetables, including eggplant and potato. It was absolutely delicious. We also tried the Yemeni kebab, which I highly recommend, as well as their hummus. For the main dish, we went with The Impossible Dish, a mix of lamb and chicken varieties. If you're unsure what to order, this is a great choice. Most dishes also come with a large piece of bread as well. They gave us complimentary tea and coffee since we were a large group. Their traditional tea was incredible, but I wasn't a fan of the coffee. Overall, a must try!
Great place for yemeni food. The portions are massive good food overall. We ordered the 5 person haneed with lamb and Mandi chicken and also the hrada with shrimpna. Both items were so delicious. The shrimp was cooked so well and it was the favorite dish of the group. The 5 person dish with a fully tender bone in lamb, lamb item and Mandi chicken was so delicious. It came with pilaf that includes raisins and tons for fried garlic and onions. Overall the food was really good. The Arabic coffee was also very good with large hints of cardamom. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the items we ordered and answered any questions we had. There is a sit-down without shoes section which adds to the experience. The only downside is they only give you water bottles when you request water.
My first experience with Yemen’s cuisine and it was delicious. The breads, dips, stews, and rice were all excellent. The ambiance with bright light and the smell of cleaning products takes the atmosphere score down for me but all 5 stars for food and service. I would absolutely come back.
Incredible food and overall atmosphere!! This is my first time trying Yemeni cuisine and I fell in love!! I have fell head over heels for their Hrada of Seltah and Lamb Mandi. THE TASTE IS LIKE NOTHING I’VE EVER HAD BEFORE!! It’s worth the traffic, plus the servers are very kind! Will be returning as often as I can!
Yemeni hospitality has a warmth and generosity that makes you feel honored to be there. Every dish feels deeply rooted in tradition, rich with perfectly balanced spices and slow-cooked care, as if generations of love were poured into it. The mandi was unbelievably tender and fragrant. My friends and I enjoyed every meal, thank you once again for the amazing hospitality.
Flatbread absolute best and tea was delicious, meat is tender and rice is flavored well. Comfort food at its best, kids loved it, leftovers at home heated up nicely later. Overall, great experience!
Wow, wow, wow!!! Thank you so much Kori!! We came in for a new experience and came out with the best experience. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was such a big serving and the offer variety as far as me and also vegetarian options. We came in a group of 16 and we all left very happy and please. Thank you so much Kori for all your service. This was absolutely the best.
Food was amazing!! I've had middle eastern food in the past and this by far has been my best experience. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. I had lamb chops; they were really tasty--even ordered another to go. The bread was delicious as well. I will definitely go back. Such a great find!
Scrumptious food & lovely ambience - I was initially hesitant coz I had never tried Yemenese cuisine before, but wow it was so good! The portion size of the Mutton biryani was beyond expectations, but the one thing I absolutely fell for was the Chai/Tea which they served - I have rarely found good tea even in the Indian restaurants, tbh. Overall, strongly recommended especially for South Asians.
Our waiter Moseat was great. He showed great care and was very professional. We ordered lamb Mandi and lamb haneeth. Also Karak chai which were all great.
Mandi House in LA was such a great experience. The mandi was incredibly flavorful, the meat was tender, and everything felt authentic and comforting. Perfect spot for sharing a hearty meal and really enjoying Yemeni cuisine.
Really festive atmosphere, and around the clock service between multiple servers. They keep bringing extra bread to keep you going. The bread looks large in size, but you burn through it really fast. We really enjoyed all our food, and there are green chilies on top of the entrees incase you want to spice it up, but the food is mild. The dessert was a little too sweet for me, but the hubby enjoyed it, and finished it off. We ordered the banana bread with banana slices. We got Mandi rice and two entrees, one was potato, okra, and ground beef, and second was lamb and beef mix. House sauces are delicious too and the hummus is very fresh. We ended our meal with some warm black team. They are open late as well. Great place to come as a couple or as a family. Traditional and festive decor inside.
First time trying Yemeni food and it was outstanding. The food was hot and flavourful, very filling as well. Malik was excellent
Mandi House in Los Angeles is a true hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Yemeni and Arabic cuisine. The restaurant offers a traditional Arabic-style floor seating area, as well as regular tables and booths, giving everyone a comfortable dining option. The food is absolutely freshly cooked and full of rich, authentic flavors. Every single dish has its own unique taste, from the tender meat in the mandi rice to the perfectly balanced spices in their stews and curries. You can tell that each meal is made with care and tradition. The ambiance feels warm and cultural, the portions are generous, and the overall dining experience is one of a kind. If you’re looking to experience real Yemeni food with great hospitality in Los Angeles, Mandi House is a must-visit. Highly recommended for food lovers and anyone wanting to try something authentic and delicious!
Update 1/20/26. I've probably been here 20ish times. Can't be beat! Best handroll place. The nori is crip, the rice is warm, and the fish is cold. The juxtaposition of textures, temperatures, and taste is just phenomenal. I always come back here. The rolls can't be beat. I usually do the 5 roll and then an additional scallop and shrimp. Comes to $43. The scallop roll is my fav!
It's a regular spot for me. Streamlined and efficient for a quick bite. All I need is my sake or beer with five hand rolls and I'm good to go. No other hand roll can compare!
Everything was spot on—from the freshness of the fish to the perfectly warm rice and crisp nori that held up until the last bite. Sitting at the bar made the experience even better, with quick, attentive service throughout. The quality you get for the price is impressive and makes it feel like a great value. If you want to sample a variety of hand rolls, their curated set menus are a smart choice and offer excellent value with some of their most popular options.
Kazunori is one of the best sushi handroll bar in town. The seaweed is crispy and the portion is great. Try to find parking on the street because the parking lot is pretty pricy
Fresh, flavorful sushi and incredibly friendly service! Every roll was beautifully made and full of clean, vibrant flavors. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is attentive, and the prices are fair for the quality. Easily one of my new favorite sushi spots!
Live a few blocks from here and it never disappoints. Not actually that “sketchy” of an area if you’re actually a big city person. If you’re from the suburbs and scared of stuff, park in the garage next door, go to the restaurant and then go home. If you’re down for a great night out, go to one of the neighboring galleries, bars, clubs etc and have a great time.
KazuNori offers an amazing dining experience with incredibly fresh and flavorful hand rolls. The quality of the fish is outstanding, and every roll is made perfectly right in front of you. The staff is friendly, attentive, and efficient, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Everything tastes authentic and high quality. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves sushi and hand rolls!
Incredible, I highly recommend. The best hand rolls I've ever had, I crave the food here. If you do not like seafood or hand rolls this place is not for you. Ingredients are fresh, with warm rice and made in front of you. Seated at U shaped bar style table with chefs and servers in the center. Rolls are made and delivered overtime, not all at once. You choose your meal via a paper menu, from set menus of 3 - 6 rolls but all rolls can be added a la carte. Service is quick and friendly. There are a few locations, lucky me, so the parking and wait time vary at each. All locations are usually busy but service is quick which supports a timely turnaround. The one downtown (main) has limited street parking, the one in Ktown is probably my favorite and has a small parking lot but fills quickly. Buon Appetito, Piatto Pulito 😋
The convenience of a nearby parking lot makes it a breeze to access, saving you the hassle of searching for a spot. However, be prepared for a bit of a wait as the seating is limited. Once inside, grab a menu placed conveniently on the side and mark your order before taking a seat. For first-time visitors, I highly recommend starting with the Set Menu. It's a fantastic way to sample a variety of flavors and find your favorites. Personally, I fell in love with the Toro hand roll; it's a must-try and easily my top pick among the six rolls in the set. The balance of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients are truly commendable. Additionally, the Salmon Sashimi deserves a special mention. The seasoning is spot on, enhancing the natural richness of the fish without overpowering its delicate taste. Each bite was a perfect blend of freshness and flavor.
Came for the first time after hearing so many good things about this place from my son. We decided to come here to celebration my son’s graduation. We came on a weekend and the line was long but fast. The dining concept is simple, grab a menu and seat down and tick off what you want. For the indecisive eater like me, the menu has 3/4/5/6 set dinner and a drink list. Four of us tried from 3 to 6. We all felt full. The crispy seaweed and warm rice with the fresh fish are perfect combination for a great sushi dining experience. Service was friendly and efficient. That’s why the wait was not too long despite the long line. You can park in the garage next door or on the street.
I came here with my family yesterday and had a nice experience. Service is pretty slow (we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to take our order- they need a lot more staff than what they had) and the place was very busy but the food was awesome. We ordered the grilled chicken with rice and hradha of shrimp which were very flavorful. Fasolia with eggs was good but a bit bland. The setup is great for sharing food with a large group. Would definitely go again.
Cool spot in Westwood near UCLA. It was busy on Saturday night but it was a fun experience. We had to park about a block away so be prepared to walk. Overall the food was good And service was good too.
Food was great and presentation was even better. The servers were there kids(?) which was a cute touch but they were attentive. We had the mandi plate which was suited for 3 people but it was just 2 of us, so plenty of food leftover. Leftover tasted great too. Id highly recommend coming here with a guest visiting the area.
First time in a hand rolled sushi place. The seaweed wrapping was surprisingly crispy. The fillings tasty. The sushi is rolled in front of you surrounded by a wrap around counter. The rolls we ordered were delivered as we finished each one. This place is not about the atmosphere but about the food and rapid roll sushi. I would definitely go back. There is a parking garage next door.
Fast paced and casual with counter seating that keeps things lively. Hand rolls are fresh, crisp, and meant to be eaten immediately. Staff moves quickly and keeps lines flowing, making it ideal for a quick, satisfying bite. Portions felt fair for the price, my favorite is the Toro roll
Nice Hand Rolls It’s Tuesday afternoon. It’s a good day to have some hand rolls and they did not let me down. There weren’t many ppl in, so it’s cool to have some space for myself. The menu was easy to understand with their sets and drinks. I ordered 5 rolls and toro sashimi. They were all good!
I was left without my regular carpool buddy on a Monday night after work, so I decided to be mysterious and treat myself to a solo-dining adventure. I settled on Kazunori since their bar seating is perfect for dining alone, and decided on the flagship location of DTLA. I didn’t realize, however, that the DTLA location is right next to Skid Row. Even though I found street parking almost right outside of the restaurant, I felt unsafe as I walked over. The guard at the door gave me a little bit of comfort, but just out of safety alone, I would not come back to this location. There were two empty spots at the bar, and I chose the one less cramped (it was still cramped). Service was lackluster. I didn’t even get a pair of chopsticks when I sat down and had to ask for them myself. I opted for the 6 piece handroll set: toro, yellowtail, salmon, bay scallop, crab, and lobster. The first half, the fish, disappointed me. The toro tasted flat. So did the yellowtail and salmon. But the shellfish were pretty good. I usually don’t like raw scallops, but the bay scallops were good. Fresh and slightly sweet. The crab was good too, but the crab is good everywhere. The lobster was fine. I was still hungry after these 6 handrolls, so I ordered an eel handroll a la carte. The eel handroll was good. And it was hot. It was the hottest out of all the handrolls I had, presumably because it was taken right off the grill. In terms of size, it was also the most substantial. I wouldn’t say that I was full or satisfied even after the eel, but the eel got me to a point where I could comfortably leave the restaurant (I was hungry again later that night). My bill came out to $45. For the quality and quantity of food I received, I wasn’t completely satisfied. I might be willing to try a different branch of Kazunori another time, but I would not return to the DTLA location.
Let me start with the fact that we drove 7 hours from Arizona to try this place. Let our server know of this upon arrival. Ordered the chicken Mandi x2. Hummus with naan bread, and mint drink. The chicken was extremely dry and the rice was stale. Both came out cold. The onions were cooked from way before. Nothing was fresh. The naan was cold which we asked to be changed but the new one was clearly heated up and for some reason very chewy. Hummus was watered down. The sauces had no taste to them. The service was odd - our server walked out half way through our meal without telling us so we had no one who was helping us. No one asked if we needed anything or how the food was. We skipped dessert knowing it would likely also be bad. We really wanted to like this place and give this place a good rating (especially as a power reviewer on Google) but are extremely disappointed and would never come back.
