A very small restaurant in downtown LA, serving creative seafood with a hint of Japanese and Nordic favor. The omakase menu said to have five courses, but it’s actually eight. fishes were prepared beautifully, what’s very refreshing and delicate taste. Surface is also amazing with the open kitchen, so you can kind of smell the food as they’re cooking it over one of the best restaurant in Los Angeles.

I was ready to be harsh with this review but honestly, food quality and an amazing service fixed it all... It all started with my wife and myself arriving 15 minutes early. And guess what... Yeah, they left us outside the restaurant (a small place without a waiting area) until the time of our reservation. Yeah, outside on the 7pm cold and in a not-that-pretty neighborhood... However, once they allowed us in, everything changed... The attention was superb, the 8 (yeah, not only 5, which is not a complaint at all) courses were delicious, the pairings (highly recommended to choose the wine pairing option too) and the timing among courses was nothing but perfect. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they even included a little candle in the dessert, strategically placed so that it didn't affect the presentation of the dish. I mean, that might sound dumb but I didn't need to remind them that we were celebrating something, which for me is a huge detail. Totally worth the price. Totally deserved that Michelin star. Don't miss the opportunity to try it!

Incredible meal and service. Went for the 5-course omakase and added the special seafood porridge dish (a must!). Very unique and creative dishes utilizing seafood, vegetables and fruit, that you won’t find anywhere else. Chef Centeno delivers flavor combinations that are sometimes surprising, and absolutely delicious, using ingredients at their peak. It’s on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it.

4.5/5 stars This Michelin star restaurant offers a 5-course tasting menu ($150 per person), but they added some extra dishes, which was nice! Overall, I enjoyed most of the dishes, except for the vegetable dish since the sauce was way too overpowering. Also, some of the dishes tasted too buttery, but they were still edible. The cornbread would have been better if it were hotter. The lobster pieces in the pasta could have been more tender. I think my favorite dishes were the scallops and the snapper. Service was great. The dishes came out quickly

We had an exceptional dining experience at Orsa & Winston. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted, with fresh and unique ingredients. The service was great—attentive yet unobtrusive. Our server provided clear explanations when we had questions about the ingredients. The recommended sake pairing was a standout, perfectly complementing the flavors of the dishes. Would definitely try other restaurants run by the chef next time in LA.

We had recently gone to Orsa and Winston for a birthday. The entrance is not flashy and easily missed from the street and the restaurant itself only has a handful of tables set up. With that said, the food was immaculate. Every component was so flavorful and the progression throughout our meal was fantastic. For its price, it was almost a steal for how good it was.

I enjoyed every aspect of our dinner here - the minimalist but classy decor, the casual yet elevated vibe, and the delicious food all came together for a great experience. The menu was fantastic, and we ended up with additional dishes based on what the chef had whipped up that night; the focaccia plate that came out was really something special. My partner got the wine pairing which was a lovely supplement of wines and sake to go along with the meal and definitely well worth it. We also got the seafood porridge supplement and cannot emphasize enough how much I’d recommend it! The seafood is perfect and goes extremely well with the risotto it comes with - it’s savory, creamy, and all around excellent.

THE BEST tasting menu I have ever had. Orsa and Winston is exquisite. We finished each dish so quickly the server said “I would ask how it was, but the plates are still warm….” ☠️.

Went this past week and had the tasting menu. I am gluten and dairy free and they accommodated flawlessly. Each course was unique, beautiful to look at, and memorable to eat. My friend had the vegetarian tasting menu and loved it, too. The timing was excellent, no rushing or hovering. Yes, the plates are small but by the end I promise you will be full. Highly recommend.

I had the tasting menu, and it was delightful. The meal lasted just the right amount of time. I don’t enjoy when restaurants drag out meals too much, this menu had the perfect amount of food and every dish I was served was to my liking which is rare! The dishes I enjoyed the most were the egg custard, the crab, the vegetable dish and the pasta- but really, everything was good. The service was also, very kind. Special thanks to Roman! I would love to visit again in the future.

Great meal! This is among some of the more affordable, great value tasting menus in LA that have a Michelin star. I liked the casual and unfussy atmosphere and really appreciated all the extra dishes they threw in.

Positively delightful experience. Very high quality and delicious food, excellent beverage pairing, and a very cozy atmosphere. The tasting menu is advertised as only “5 courses”, but you get way more (see pictures). Reasonably priced for Michelin star standards.

Good fine dining experience. Place is very limited in capacity so make sure you reserve ahead of time. Parking is a pain but it's worth it. Every dish was great. I am a fan of Japanese and Italian food. I don't usually like fusion restaurants but this place nailed it. My favorite dish was the supplemental course. The menu said it had uni but it did not. Still not complaining, it was delicious. Reminded me of a risotto but with scallops and roe. Service was also great. Really enjoyed the drink recommendations although there aren't cocktails. Everything pairs better with wine or sake anyways.

Fantastic dining experience and the food was amazing! We made the reservation a month in advance on OpenTable. I recommend ride share to the restaurant since parking is limited and the surrounding area is not the best. Service is top notch and pacing was one of the best I've experienced. They tailor the pace to each table's progress. There were 6 other parties dining at the same time and we finished first since we didn't add the optional course or wine pairing. While the menu talked about 5 courses, we were pleasantly surprised to receive any gifts throughout the meal. Everything was tasty and well executed with a variety of textures, tastes and presentation. Highly recommend!

This was our first Michelin star experience in LA and we were quite impressed! The standout was surprisingly the beverage pairing, mostly European wine and one pouring of sake. The pairings all tasted great in their own, but with the food, the flavours were truly enhanced by each other! During our seating, the chef actually gave us a feel complimentary items which we very much appreciated! It seemed like the other tables did as well. While it was thoughtful, we actually felt like the complimentary items ruined the flow and rhythm of the tasting menu. We really appreciated the extra dishes but it kinda downgraded the experience actually…. Maybe they were trying new dishes? The actual items on the menu were very delicious, well thought out and creative. The salad and pasta dish were the most memorable!! In terms of the Japanese and Italian fusion, I did see elements of both but the dishes were leaning towards the Italian side. I want to say 30% Japanese and 70% Italian. Atmosphere-wise, I really like how it was a bit more casual. The open kitchen was very nice and they only had a few seatings so was a very intimate experience with my fiancé. WOULD I COME AGAIN? Yes, mainly because I was surprised by the beverage pairing and really appreciated it. I don’t feel like other restaurants truly do the beverage pairing this well and would want to come back to experience this again. The pritce point is also fair. I wouldn’t say the $$ was worth it in ingredients, but in the “art” of the dishes.

Unassuming little restaurant in downtown LA. Kind of low key and minimalist, but authentic and classy. The staff are really proud of their dishes, the food and service are amazing. The tasting menu is presented as 5 course, but in reality lots of little surprises keep coming. The fusion of Japanese and Italian really works. Some dishes blew us away. Absolutely worth it!

Fine dining but confused and messy composition - Ambiance - Modern Japanese jazz / pop - a bit of a strange choice that didn’t seem to have much cohesiveness with the food Small restaurant sitting - of about 15-18 people but comfortably spaced out. Decor is clean modern albeit a bit basic in taste. Sometimes simplicity work in its favor with taste, but this was an average modern clean open kitchen design Service is good and polite - but nothing out of the ordinary or remarkable. - Food - Prefixed menu of “5 courses” with an option to add one more. But really almost a menu of 10 items (many of which not shown) The menu design was just overall feels random. One example was a sweet potatoe ravioli, duck stew and truffles in a tomato Italian-Indian sauce. The truffles felt completely misplaced that neither went with the ravioli nor the duck nor the sauce. The overall execution of the dishes were modern fine dining cuisine done well, but again was confused and difficult to connect the dots between dish to dish. It’s almost as if you ordered à la crate - except you have no choices. Lastly but unfortunately not controlled, we had a very rude set of customer next to our table. Who constantly coughed and had no conscious morale to not affect people around. It was uncomfortable to sit through the meal as a result.

A chic Michelin 1star restaurant in DTLA. Menu is very simple but you’d be surprised by how many “gifts/dishes” chef send you. You’ll end up having way more than what’s indicated on the menu. Definitely full after the meal. All ingredients are fresh and delicious. Not fishy at all. Ingredients compliment each other and create a beautiful harmony. I recommend adding the seafood porridge. It’s savory and delicious. 1 serving can be shared between 2 people. Services is to the standard. Seat arrangements are comfortable and provide enough privacy for each table.

This is probably the only time I have ever given a truly terrible public review for a restaurant that I have visited. I simply cannot understand how on earth this place could be considered a Michelin starred restaurant when your service began with an empty restaurant and a host telling you “sit wherever you want” No explanation of the entire menu. It’s normal to receive a menu card vaguely explaining what the courses will be but then the waiter is meant to explain what actually goes into the dish. Wine list also not at all explained. Open kitchen and absolutely no evidence of any cooking being done except for the main course. 3 of the first dishes were served within 15 minutes. All courses were lukewarm and preprepared The extra course was vaguely explained so we added it for 49$. While promising at first, also cold. I have visited Michelin starred restaurants around the world and this is the only time I have felt compelled to leave a review. I feel horribly for people who would look at the glowing reviews of this restaurant and choose it as a special occasion restaurant. We did not complain in person as it was clear the staff who were working there had nothing to do with the kitchen For a meal that cost us almost 500$ with tip this was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had in the USA Also who calls petit fours two freezing cold cookies on a frozen plate? We really wanted to leave as much as the staff did at that point. As for Michelin starred presentation, I’ll leave it up to you to judge.

The food was great, but one of the servers—a white male—behaved in a way that was incredibly upsetting. My husband and I went together, and it felt as if I wasn’t even there. The server only spoke to my husband, explained the dishes to him, and completely ignored me. This wasn’t a subtle thing—it was very obvious and uncomfortable. You can be sure I’m not exaggerating. I have no plans to return.
