We were recommended Manuela's by a film producer friend in town, and it did not disappoint. The food, service, and atmosphere were nothing short of superb. We enjoyed our time and look forward to returning very soon. Thank you for making our visit one of the highlights of our trip!
Both times I’ve been here have been exceptional! The food is always delicious and the vibes are immaculate. Had a friend’s birthday here and the service was top-notch and so sweet, I wish I got the server’s name but I forgot to ask. (He had slightly wavy, dark, chin length hair?) Anyways, everyone enjoyed the food and had a great time. It’s such a cute restaurant. The biscuits and mushrooms are definitely my favorite but everything was good. I can’t wait to come again!
An exceptional meal with fantastic service. Had the biscuits (AMAZING), baked clams (AMAZING), scallops (very good), cauliflower (AMAZING) and choco butter cake (very good). Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a year or two. Also must mention that every staff member, and especially my server, was really top notch. Would def come back.
Manuela is an amazing dining experience in LA. The restaurant has a warm, rustic vibe with a beautiful outdoor patio that feels perfect for a casual yet special evening. The food is creative, fresh, and beautifully presented. Every dish I tried had unique flavors that blended perfectly. The cocktails were inventive and delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It’s one of those restaurants where you leave feeling impressed and satisfied. Definitely a must-visit spot for both locals and visitors.
Beautiful restaurant! Beautiful dishes! Everything surprised me, tasted amazing, and was presented so well! Currently writing this from my table because I was just so excited to talk about this place. Will definitely be back! My partner and I got two drinks, the honey dew me and the huckleberry drink. The honey dew me is exactly what I aim for when I order drinks, no complaints, not too tart, not too sweet, well balanced, delicious. The huckleberry was tart and refreshing, just what my partner wanted. For lunch we split a bunch of small plates. We got the smoked albacore dip (which was my partners favorite), the ocean trout tartare (which was my favorite, so refreshing), the sunchokes, and the bbq oysters. While I’m glad I tried the oysters and they were good, that was the only dish that we agreed that we wouldn’t order again. But everything else we will definitely be coming back for. Everything was fresh and refreshing and flavorful and fun in texture. Loved how the chickpeas added a crunch to the sunchokes. The bread and crackers were able to stand alone by themselves in the dip and tartare dishes. Absolutely loved our meal and will be back for more!
I’ve dined at countless restaurants, but the service here truly stood out. Every member of the staff was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely thoughtful I felt like royalty. Instead of being assigned to just one server, the whole team looks after you, making sure your water is topped off, checking in on your experience, and anticipating what you might need without ever being intrusive. Great food, incredible staff, and a beautiful venue an outstanding experience from start to finish.
Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Located in the Arts District, the space is beautiful — semi-outdoor and filled with natural light. There’s an art gallery right next door, and the moment you walk in, it feels very artsy and thoughtfully designed. Super photogenic and definitely a place you’d want to take pictures. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honestly exceeded expectations. I didn’t come in with super high hopes for the food, but everything was surprisingly good. The cream biscuit was a standout — probably the crispiest biscuit I’ve ever had, and it paired perfectly with the butter and apricot jam. The salmon with bread was also delicious, and the bread itself was a big plus — very crisp and well done. Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came for the vibes, stayed for the food. A rare case where a “pretty brunch spot” actually delivers on taste. Would definitely come back again.
I’ve been to both brunch and dinner and Manuela always delivers. Great food, beautiful atmosphere within an art gallery. The popover benedict is superb and the albacore dip is always a must get. It can be a little pricy but it’s a nice place to take guests from out of town for a uniquely LA vibe.
Food, vibe and staff were all amazing! We were a large group and ordered several dishes - all more amazing than the next. My favorites were the shrimp aguachile, cream biscuits with prosciutto, sea bass with beans, and banana pastry dessert. Drinks were also delicious! I has the Florida Man with mezcal - yum! Only negative is I got several mosquito bites. Some candle repellent would work well! :)
Loved this restaurant including the vibe. Impressed with the albacore spread served with a bold rice cracker that was so large , you broke off a piece at a time and spread the delicious tuna. Outstanding! Also the little neck clams in a rich broth served with delicious toast. I never wanted this to end! Try the BBQ oysters , you will want to order this again and again. So yummy! The cheesecake was very unique with a topping of
Manuela is a gem of restaurants. The atmosphere is like a peaceful garden, inviting you to sit & enjoy. The service was top notch, everyone made us feel welcome. All the food recommendations were perfect. We could not have ask for anything better. I'm excited to return for their brunch. This is a must!!
Manuela is truly a gem in the heart of the Arts District — a perfect blend of unique atmosphere, creative energy, and unforgettable flavors. From the moment you step inside, you’re immersed in a vibrant yet relaxed vibe that perfectly captures the spirit of downtown LA. We started with a series of appetizers that set the tone for an incredible meal: the rice crisps with smoked albacore dip were a delightful balance of texture and smoky richness, the fresh oysters were impeccably briny and sweet, and the shrimp aguachile was bright, zesty, and perfectly refreshing. For our mains, the duck breast with tangerine slices was absolutely outstanding — tender, juicy, and complemented beautifully by the citrus. The grilled sea bass served on a bed of fava beans was equally impressive, showcasing masterful cooking and a fresh, earthy flavor profile that tied the dish together perfectly. Every plate was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. While the overall service was good, our particular server’s approach felt a bit out of sync with the laid-back, artistic vibe of the place — a little too over the top at times. That said, it did not take away from the overall wonderful experience. Manuela is a must-visit, and we will absolutely be back for more. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great food in a stunning, truly authentic setting.

Went to Manuela for lunch and really enjoyed it. The space is beautiful, the service is great, and the food is very well prepared. People complain about portion sizes, and usually I think those reviews miss the point. Restaurants like this focus on quality and preparation. But compared to other restaurants at this price point, the mains are quite small. The steak is over $40 and the portion could feed a small child. Highlights were the cornbread in cast iron, the cucumber tomato salad, and the mushroom main which was the table favorite. I would not steer anyone away. Just go in knowing the portions are smaller than expected and decide if the value works for you. For me, the company picked it up so I’m good with it.
Manuela is a solid lunch spot in the Arts District and it’s easy to see why it’s listed in the Michelin Guide. Set inside the Hauser & Wirth Arts Complex, the space is beautiful, with an open-plan kitchen and a strong art-forward atmosphere that makes it feel intentional and thoughtfully designed. I went with work colleagues for lunch recently. We were hoping to sit outside, but were told the outdoor tables were reserved for larger parties. That didn’t totally add up, as we saw smaller tables outside available during our visit. We were seated indoors instead, which wasn’t ideal, but fine. Another small miss: the restaurant is pretty rigid about seating the full party only once everyone has arrived. For a weekday lunch, that felt a bit unnecessary, especially when many spots are more flexible. Where Manuela really delivered was service. Our server, Lauren, was excellent. Very attentive, warm, and on point with timing. We didn’t feel rushed, but we also didn’t feel like we were waiting around. Since we were hungry, we asked her to curate our lunch, and she nailed it. Standouts included the cream biscuits with Col. Newsom’s aged country ham and Steen’s butter, baby market lettuces with pickled carrots and ricotta salata, chicories with persimmon and maple vinaigrette, green salsa chilaquiles with crema and fried egg, hanger steak with jerk rub and pickled green mango, blistered snap peas, roasted cauliflower, and Butterball potatoes. The food across the board was solid, thoughtful, and well executed. Overall: good food, strong service, and a great setting. Not sitting outside and the inflexible seating policy were misses, but still a reliable Arts District lunch spot, especially if you’re already at Hauser & Wirth.

My group really wanted to like Manuela, but our experience this past weekend was disappointing overall. Once we were seated, our hot water and napkins were forgotten, drinks took over 25 minutes, and the burgers we ordered took over 30 minutes, came out somewhat cold and fairly bland, and for $30 a burger don’t even include fries. We tried to be understanding because it was clearly a busy service, but we dine out a lot in LA and know other restaurants can be just as busy while still providing faster, more attentive service. When my friend politely asked for ranch and ketchup, the staff member who responded (who seemed like a manager or floor lead) looked displeased, said they don’t have it without offering any alternatives, and looked visibly annoyed, which didn’t feel great as guests on top of the long waits. To be fair, our main server was very kind and attentive despite how busy it was, and we liked the relaxed ambience and plenty of seating, but for about $30 a burger plus a mandatory 20% tip and an additional 4% employee benefit charge—especially compared to other busy LA spots where we’ve had better service and value—this place unfortunately just isn’t for us :(
We had a wonderful experience at Manuela a few months ago while celebrating a friend’s birthday, and we were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food and the menu. Based on that visit, we decided to return for dinner. Unfortunately, this experience started off poorly. I accidentally selected the wrong reservation time and was unable to change it through OpenTable, which directed me to call the restaurant instead. Over the course of two hours, I called 19 times and was never able to reach anyone. Since a credit card was already on file, we did our best to arrive as close to the original time as possible, and thankfully we were still seated. The food itself was disappointing. The cornbread was subpar, the duck breast was decent, but the small sliver of mashed potatoes served alongside it felt confusing and incomplete. The burger bun was completely burnt (see photo), and overall the dishes lacked the quality and execution we remembered from our prior visit. Everything felt very average. All things considered, this did not feel like a $200 dining experience. Given how much we enjoyed our first visit, this was especially disappointing
