Opinions de Osteria Mamma Los Angeles
We tried this place out for Restaurant Week. It was a pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. Friendly and attentive.
Absolutely amazing service and food! We came to celebrate my daughter’s 24th birthday, and the staff went above and beyond—so friendly and accommodating. Our entire meal was fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you to the team for making her birthday so special. We’ll definitely be back soon!
I visited Osteria Mamma after seeing so many good reviews, and it truly lived up to the hype. They had a carrot soup as the special of the day, and since the weather was chilly, I ordered it — it was absolutely delicious. The bread you drizzle oil on felt a bit greasy, but the soup itself was incredible. I also tried the squid ink pasta, which I’d been really looking forward to, and it was so delicious. The shrimp was super fresh, and the flavors were spot on — you can tell they really know how to cook. I went on a weekday evening and the service was wonderful. The ambiance was beautiful too, and I thought it would be a great place to come back for a date. Valet parking is $15, but there’s plenty of street parking in the surrounding residential area. Overall, if you’re craving truly delicious Italian food, I highly recommend this place. I came because of the great reviews, and it ended up being even better than expected. The price is a bit high though it worth it to taste this flavorful pasta.
Osteria Mamma is one the best Italian restaurant in LA. I suggest you to make reservations. I got there at my reservation time, 7.30pm on Friday, it was fully packed. There was literally only one table left in the restaurant, which was ours as we reserved. The charming decorations made the place more fancy, but the friendly service made it feels warmed. I love everything I ordered. The black spaghetti, panna cotta, wine. My friend recommended this place to me and it did not disappoint. I would also recommend this place to my family and friends for sure.
Osteria Mamma is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I felt the warmth of an authentic Italian family atmosphere. The decor is charming, making you feel right at home. The food is simply outstanding! I started with their homemade pasta, and it was one of the best I've ever had—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The risotto was creamy and satisfying, and I couldn't resist ending my meal with their delightful tiramisu, which was the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. I was also excited to learn that Mamma Loredana's first cookbook is available! It’s clear that her love for cooking and sharing meals shines through in every dish they serve. The staff at Osteria Mamma were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our dining experience was top-notch. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Southern California, I highly recommend visiting Osteria Mamma. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu! Buon Appetito!
If you're in Los Angeles and in the mood for some of the best Italian food around, Osteria Mamma on Melrose Ave is a must-visit. Though it's not cheap, the quality and authenticity make it worth every penny 💸. Our meal started with the pizza Nico Nico, which was delicious. The only minor critique is that it had a bit too much arugula for our taste, but the flavors were spot on 🍕. The Polipozzo was next, and it was spectacular. Easily one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had, complemented perfectly by the unique addition of purple mashed potatoes 🐙. We also tried the Risotto Speciale, which was nothing short of amazing. Each bite was rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor 🍚. One thing to note is that their portions are quite generous. If you’re dining as a couple, you might want to consider sharing dishes to fully enjoy the variety without feeling overwhelmed. Overall, Osteria Mamma offers a phenomenal dining experience. From the attentive service to the exquisite dishes, it’s a place that Italian food lovers will appreciate and remember. Definitely worth a visit if you're in LA and craving a taste of Italy 🇮🇹🍷.
True fine dining. Excellent food and service. Slightly sad someone beat us to their last Tiramisu as that was the top of the list item I wanted to have there :(. The other coffee desert was good consolation. Would highly recommend for vegetarians! Parking will be on the street and we could find one right in front of the restaurant.
Food was amazing at this place. Definitely good Italian food with amazing pasta. Bolognese was on point and wild def come back for it. The wine flight was also extremely worth it for 20$ We did have an interesting encounter with the waitress. Might be having a bad day which cause a bad attitude. Regardless, didn’t let that ruin our meal.
Best Italian food in Los Angeles!! Been coming here for years. All authentic and delicious. Great prices and very nice environment. It's casual and yet you can still dress up. Super perfect for a date night or a night with family/friends. The staff is friendly and makes you want to keep coming back. I love a place in the neighborhood that gives you a sense of community! I will keep coming back here time and time again. The food is delicious and so is the wine!! Seriously the best. I have a hard time deciding on what to order because I want to eat everything! I went to Italy and was disappointed in the food at some restaurants. I seriously thought it was better in LA here at this restaurant. That’s how good it is. Bon appetito!
CUTE DINNER SPOT- among the hustle and bustle of LA it’s nice to have a place with good food and no fuss. We went here on a double date. Very relaxed and nice atmosphere. The staff was super attentive and explained the menu to us and made a great wine recommendation. All plates were clean when we were done. Nice sized portions for the cost. We loved the Branzino and the Mushroom Ravioli.
I really enjoyed coming here. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The ambience was very relaxed. I was so happy to see all the varieties of wine they had. The pastas were so fresh and delicious as well. Very nice experience. Looking forward to coming back. There were a few things on the menu I am looking forward to trying. The tiramisu...omg.
I visited on a Monday dinner time, so there weren't many people, so I was able to eat leisurely. An Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The service was friendly and good. The food was a bit salty, but overall it was delicious. Parking is free at the back of the restaurant. Even if there is a space on the street, you should look carefully at the signs and park.
Osteria Mamma is a great italian restaurant. The food was so good. I tried the DineLA menu and it was a great option for my first time. I can't get over how silky and delicious the pasta noodles were. I'm already thinking about my next visit. It's a cute little place and our waiter was so nice. Would definitely recommend to all my friends. I went back in 2025 for DineLA I love the food still but we had some metal in our wine. We asked for a new one and the waitress went off to talk to someone and talked down about how we were DineLA customers. If the restaurant has an issue with DineLA customers, maybe they shouldn't participate.
Wife had linguini with clams, very good. Lasagna was good but not near the best I've had. The bottom edge was burnt and hard. Also, a little too much romano or parmesan cheese on top. It was a thick hard layer of super sharp cheese on top. And I'm usually a fan of sharp cheese but this was a bit overwhelming. Fresh bread was tasty. I would go back to try something else.
Tried Osteria Mamma and started with the Crostini and Arancini both were very good, but the arancini was my favorite. The meatball with tomato sauce was also excellent full of flavor and very tasty. For my main, I had the Maltagliati alla Vodka. The pasta and sauce were very good, but it only came with three tiny pieces of shrimp I finished all of them in my first bite. I wish they were more generous with the shrimp to match the price and portion. Ended with the Panna Cotta and Sorbet both were delicious and a nice way to wrap up the meal. Overall, I’d recommend this spot if you’re coming for the wine (which they’re known for), but since I don’t drink wine, it wasn’t a standout for me. Personally, I think there are way better pasta spots nearby, like Louise’s Trattoria down the street, that offer a fuller experience , generous portions, and better pricing . Nice experience but probably wouldn't come back .
⭐☆☆☆☆ Heartless, Greedy, and Completely Unprofessional If you’re wondering whether this restaurant values its guests, let me save you the trouble: it doesn’t. One of our main guests became seriously ill on the day of our reservation—a real medical situation, not a casual cancellation. I called immediately and left a voicemail explaining exactly what happened. Their response? “We don’t check messages.” That alone is absurd. Why have a phone line at all if you ignore it? Despite being informed, they charged my credit card anyway, without a single attempt to call back, confirm, or show even the slightest bit of human decency. No compassion. No flexibility. Just greed masked as “policy.” This wasn’t a no-show—it was an emergency. The fact that they hide behind rigid rules instead of basic courtesy says everything about how they operate. If this is how they treat guests before you even walk through the door, imagine how little they care once they already have your money. There are countless restaurants that understand emergencies happen and treat people like humans. This is not one of them. If you enjoy being nickel-and-dimed and dismissed when life happens, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually deserves .
We booked a table in advance. They put me on the veranda. In February. Without warning in advance. OK. The weather and heaters allowed for dinner. But not the waiters, who only brought food to the veranda. It was impossible to call them. May be too cold for them. Even to make a point that there are pieces of another paste in the paste. It's a rare case when you didn't leave a tip at all.
