Opinions de Queen's Raw Bar and Grill Los Angeles
I came here over a year ago, the food and service were top notch then and it’s still top notch now. My husband and I thought that both crudo dishes were all star choices-they should not be skipped. The raw bar items were all fresh and high quality. The surprising star to end the evening was the jasmine tea and yuzu sorbet. It was cold outside tonight, and even though I knew the sorbet would freeze my core, each bite was worth the pain.
This is a lovely restaurant serving predominantly seafood on York Street in Highland Park in L.A. The restaurant is on the small side, but they have a nice amount of outdoor seating. We shared a number of starters. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and nice, the hush puppies were moist with a lovely dipping sauce, and the artichokes were nicely cooked. They have oysters on the half shell as well. The she crab soup was tasty, but lacked the roe that makes it pink. Maybe this is hard to find in L.A. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were nicely cooked, and the accompanying sauce on the grits had a nice flavor. It was a good version of this classic southern dish. The fish in paper was excellent, and the fish varies from day to day. The chicken portion was huge, but it was delicious. The fries were nicely cooked also. I really liked the passion fruit caramel sundae, and it was big enough to share. They only serve beer and wine, as well as non- alcoholic beverages, at the moment. The service was excellent, and they were super good about having things for children to color .
Queen’s Raw Bar & Grill is a charming take on a Southern seafood and raw bar. The space is beautiful and the service friendly. Standouts were the fresh oysters, grilled artichokes, fried code sandwich and passion fruit sundae. Friendly dogs are welcome on the patio. It’s a perfect afternoon spot, or evening date spot.
We had a really delicious dinner here from the same owners of The Lonely Oyster. It’s a south eastern inspired seafood restaurant with a large bar in the middle and rotating sharesize plates. The only issue we had is we both are taking an alcohol cleanse so we wanted to order iced teas but they don’t have that. Then we tried to order Coke, but they only have Diet Coke. If you’re ordering alcohol you have many options, but in terms of nonalcoholic drinks, they are really limited. Aside from that our server was very polite and everything arrived fairly quickly. There is a parking lot right out front, but it only has room for about 8 to 10 spaces, otherwise it will be valet or free street parking. They have a fairly large menu filled with all sorts of great options so we really had to take some time to choose what we wanted to order. We started off with the Hush Puppies, which were a great start and as good as expected. Next came a personal favorite of mine, the She Crab Soup. I have spent a lot of time in the Carolinas so it was great to have this again. Next came the Bluefin Tostada, and it was very light, fresh, and filled with flavor. After that came Hamachi, which was also light, fresh, and very good, which was followed by the Oysters Casino and the Crispy Brook Trout, which was my favorite dish of the night. The trout was extremely crispy, but still filled with lemony flavor, and I honestly loved every bite. Overall, we really had a great dinner here and it’s easily one of our favorite places in Eagle Rock. I would definitely recommend to anyone searching for a great seafood dinner and it would be especially great for a date or dinner with friends or family.
The raw bar items were fresh and bright and perfect summer evening food. The fried calamari was crispy. The hush puppies were nice and sweet/savory. Everything was great! Went for my birthday dinner.
Spectacular oysters, clams, and wine selection. Especially fond of how clean and grit-free the shellfish was. Everyone working there is lovely, and the service is absolutely wonderful. Just be aware that there's an automatic 20% charge for that service, which is probably my only complaint. Favorite bite of the evening was either the oysters or clams, with the asparagus salad as a surprise favorite. Honorable mentions include the scallop crudo and the crab soup. The fish collar is a tough recommendation, it was easily the best cooked collar I've had, but the buffalo sauce definitely detracted from the overall flavor. Overall, a good recommendation, as long as you stick to the raw bar and be mindful of the final cost.
Updated after another visit: Still excellent, with efficient and friendly service on the patio. This time, we shared the Perfect Storm platter with friends, and every single item on it was delectable. Loved having dinner here on a Saturday night. Service was efficient and friendly, and food was delicious. In particular, we loved the Spanish mackerel tartare, chargrilled oysters, and fish baked in paper. There is a 20% service charge, which was fine with us. My only complaint is that it's a tad too loud inside, which makes conversation difficult.
Cute spot with good food, service and drinks!
Came on a rainy day when we booked a patio reservation and they were able to get us in shortly after arriving (inside)! Server was amazing (Caiden), & management was amazing. Food was a 10/10! Highly recommend: -Oysters 10/10 -Anchovies with olive and blue cheese 10/10 -Bluefin Tostada 10/10 -Pecan Pie Desert 10/10 Great place for dates, chatting with friends, or even coming alone.
My buddy and I got some oysters. We’ve been thinking about it during our many bar excursions for the day. We reserved seats at the oyster counter. We got ourselves an assortment of oysters, shrimp scampi and stuffed clams. Couldn’t really take photos because we were busy hanging. We have a selfie and while we are scrumptious, I don’t think we are on the menu.
Good service. Good food. Ask what they recommend. Enjoy some oysters and a glass of wine.
I had Mere Point oysters, mackerel tartare, tuna frites. I am pretty much sure that those oysters were harvested that morning but I cannot prove that. Creme Faiche neutralized the oily mackerel yet dill was a bit too much taking the stage from mackerel. Ponzu on tuna was just amazing. Tuna was cooked as it should be. The only thing I can say is, they need more glass wine options. Arnauld Lambert Midi Saumur was great fit to most but Albarino was left open for sometime and acidity was lost. I have been to most raw sea bars across the city and from now on here is by far my favorite.
Completely enamored with this little southern gem of a restaurant! Interior, service, ambiance food & wine are all exceptional. No notes. Can’t wait to go back
A tiny seafood spot with big charm, much like their sister spots Found Oyster and Barra Santos. The raw bar is top notch, the crab fritters are delightful, and the pork chop is one for the books. While a reservation can guarantee you a table you should opt for a bar seat instead where the action is.

don’t listen to those people below. i’ve been here several times and it’s always an amazing experience. if you’re afraid of shrimp with the heads on and order a pimento cheeseburger with lettuce instead of a bun, you are infinitely unqualified to critique food. what takes this place from good to great is the service. the host and servers are attentive without being overbearing and are deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of the raw bar, cooked food, wine, and beverages. i’ve never had an issue with accommodating simple modifications (like removing a pork product). I was in fact at the restaurant the night one reviewer below (complaining about the service) was there. they were an entitled group of drunk girls asking for difficult requests (trying to split the bill a number of ways). as they were walking out of the restaurant and waiting for the uber, they were extremely loud and rude. I wouldn’t be particularly excited to serve their group either. all in all, highly recommend this spot. the menu is always evolving, and now that they have a full bar, they make a killer martini.

The inside decor and set up of this place is nice and comfortable. I took my dad here for his 90th bday because he loves oysters. I researched ADA access in advance and it seemed to accommodate but onsite it's very tight navigation. Tables and seats on the patio partially blocked the wheelchair access route. Some diners weren't pleasant or accommodating about moving. Also parking is difficult if busy. Very small shared lot and tight and limited street parking. We were fortunate because we had an early reservation but when we left cars were stacked on the adjacent street waiting for space. Physical mobility and parking loses this place a star. The food and service were otherwise good. Met our expectations. The prices are pricey but we knew that and didn't mind since it was for my dad's experience. It would be tough to make this a regular dining experience due to cost. Otherwise the shellfish was fresh, but their Cesar salad was a bit overdressed, the presentation was very good and 3 of us left feeling satisfied. Only bummer was my dad was not offered a bday treat, they don't really do that I guess.
Honestly, I want to give Queen’s a 5 star. We’ve been here several times and the experience has been epic. This review is based on my last experience. Walking in, we were greeted by the host. I booked reservations for indoor dining but she recommended outdoor, the weather was prime and we agreed and were happy we did. The breeze and their music selection closed the deal. An old school jam, ABC - Jackson 5 was playing as we were being seated. We were feeling the vibe. It didn’t take long for our server to appear and ask us if we wanted water or maybe a little something harder. He mentioned a special on martinis. 10 bucks. So we opted for both, martinis and mineral water. Looking through the menu, there were some standouts: Oysters, halibut crudo, shrimp cocktail, their house salad, a chicken dish and black cod. Drinks were served shortly after and we made our order. I gotta say the $10 martini went down extremely well. Food? The oysters were heaven. Tasted like they were picked right out of the sea, the vinegar sauce was a nice complement with a spritz of lemon. East coast oysters. The shrimp cocktail? This was our only downer. Although the dipping sauce was excellent, the shrimp prepared perfectly… it was extremely over seasoned. It was hard to get down, and good thing that the halibut crudo came out right after! Exceptionally dish, fresh with a citrus sauce, very pleasant dish. Shortly after the salad came out, damn good. Then the chicken and black cod on rice. Lemme say, that black cod elevated me from the first bite, the outer texture was crispy, but once you bit through that it melted in your mouth, the rice complimented the fish well - seasoned to perfection. The chicken was a close second, crispy outer with a moist inner, it came with really tasty and crispy fries - the dipping sauce was 🔥 . With the exception of the shrimp the meal was sublime. Stand outs: oysters, black cod, chicken, raw halibut. Why 4 stars? A significant part of the dining experience is the service you are provided. Our server appeared inexperienced and not very personable, but to his credit we was very young. I would think an establishment like this would provide more seasoned staff. Also consider, be prepared to spend some $. We’ve been here 3 times, and for a party of 2: with appetizers, drinks and a couple mains the check has always exceeded 3 bills. For the culinary experience and ambience I do not mind the price of admission. Service is usually on point. Either way, for any seafood lover in the area, this establishment should be in your hit list. We will continue to explore their menu

The name suggests a regal command, yet the kitchen has an unfortunate knack for missing the mark. This is an overpriced place with detached service and uninspired hospitality. I began with a half dozen oysters, split between two different kinds. The oysters themselves were ok at best, and arrived on a platter that gave no hint of the raw bar excellence their name advertises. The queen street salad should’ve been a pile of fresh greens, but instead it was an afterthought. The shrimp and grits. Good grits, flavorful enough shrimp, but the choice to serve the shrimp with their heads, eyes and tentacles still attached felt like a miscalculation, a small but jarring detail that speaks for itself. The fried fish sandwich sinks quickly, and lacks the crispy exterior that makes a great sandwich. The bread was unremarkable, and the lettuce was bland. Then came the pimento cheeseburger, the true undoing. It was a catastrophic failure. It smelled like a mistake and tasted even worse. One bite was enough before I sent it away. Easily one of the worst restaurant burgers I’ve had in Los Angeles. A disappointing parade of below-average ingredients. If you're looking for a great seafood experience in LA you'll find plenty of exceptional options, just not here.

Came in on Friday for a friend's birthday dinner. From the very start our server was annoyed and seemed very inconvenienced by our presence. When my friend tried to order fish but asked if it could be made without being cooked in pork butter, she was flat out refused. This attitude just continued throughout the meal to the point that I didn't even want to ask where my meal was 1.5 hours in, so I never received my food. Others in the group that actually received food thought it was decent but I don't think this sort of treatment warrants the 1k dinner bill. Disappointed all around.

The food was ok. Not terrible but not worth the money. However the service was truly awful. I felt anxious from the moment I entered as the server was so rude and abrupt. Anything we asked for seemed like a big deal. It was my friend's birthday and she didn't enjoy her birthday dinner because of the service. None of us would go back. P.s. @ Brandon Kennedy - I'm genuinely thrilled you had a wonderful time. I don't want anyone to have the same experience we had 😂 but I literally asked the server to remove the bacon and they refused to sooo....I'm glad you think you were part of our evening but we also didn't ask to split the bill or take ubers (most people weren't drinking due to driving 🤷🏻♀️) so I feel like you're invalidating our experience having not been part of it ..how do you feel about the #metoo movement? You strike me as someone who maybe likes to invalidate women's experiences? Enjoy your life and your dining. Please mind your business and don't comment on things you weren't a part of 😇
I visited Queen's Raw Bar with high expectations for seafood and atmosphere, but the experience unraveled the moment I walked in. The host at the door set the tone: curt, dismissive, and visibly irritated by basic interaction. No greeting, no warmth, just a clipped "name?" followed by an eye roll when I asked about the wait. It wasn't busy, yet I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them by showing up. That kind of attitude filters down. When the first point of contact treats guests with contempt, the rest of the service rarely recovers. Inside, that proved true. The staff were aloof and acted as though they were above their own clientele. They were detached, cold, and uninterested in basic hospitality. The food didn't save the night either. The hushpuppies were the worst offender: dense, greasy, and strangely sweet, with no crispness or corn flavor. They tasted like oil that had been reused too long. For nearly fifteen dollars, it was ridiculous. The actual cost to make them (cornmeal, flour, eggs, milk) barely hits seventy cents. That's a 2,000% markup for something executed poorly enough to ruin the start of the meal. The rest of the menu followed the same inflated logic: raw bar platters nearing $100, $32 for crab louie, $48 for a pork chop. High-end pricing, low-effort cooking. Nothing about the meal matched the cost or the posturing. Queen's Raw Bar sells the illusion of sophistication but delivers mediocrity wrapped in arrogance. From the rude host to the disinterested servers and overpriced, underwhelming food, it's the kind of place that mistakes attitude for quality.
