Opinions de Rakkan Ramen Los Angeles
Great staff, great sushi chefs. I walked in on a slow weekday and they sat me at the bar. Fish was very fresh, good value for the the portions.
I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for years! It’s always so busy with a line out the door. Amazing service, great food. Must eat at spot if in the area!
This was hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Sitting at the bar was a fantastic experience, allowing direct interaction with the chefs and a perfect view of the sushi-making process, complete with their insightful comments. We ordered as we went and tried multiple sushi options, including chef recommendations. The Crunchy Vegas roll was the standout—absolutely incredible. The staff was incredibly polite and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. We loved it so much that we returned the very next day for more. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny. The location in Little Tokyo is also perfect. Highly recommended!
Authentic Japanese sushi at finest quality. This place serves sushi prepared at high-end style. Everything will feel perfectly enjoyable. Hence, they do use a bit of yuzu, but it makes the sushi a bit more unique and stylish. The roles are great, and prepared in the right size for a bite. It is size also the kids can enjoy easily. Hence, the price point is not in the lower end. But the quality justifies it.
Sushi Enya - omg. All expectations met. From the freshest fish, to the delicious sauce combinations, to the amazing staff. Our party came hungry and left beyond satisfied. Saturday, no reservation - we waited 15 mins before doors and were seated right away.
One of the best sushi places in LA! Super high quality, tasty with least amount of rice in the roll, so that you dont feel full after! Great Unagi, we ordered twice, as it was sooooo good?
Visited October 2019. Best sushi experience I've ever had. We waited to have bar seats (definitely recommended). We really enjoyed the interactions with the chefs and watching the art of the delicately put together intricate creations. The flavours were fresh and top quality. I will definitely be back.
The best sushi I’ve had in a while! Must try their truffle toro - absolutely worth it! All the rolls were great as well.
Always a treat to eat here. This isn't a fast food sushi place. Instead its a 45 min wait to be seated. Reservations are 2 and 3 months wait. Getting a table is a waiting game but you won't be disappointed. Sushi is fresh, no fishy smell inside. The rice is perfectly sweet and sticky, the 60 dollar plater is done with perfect... enjoy the pics because this food is worth the wait.. our chef also very kind and helpful on foods we didn't know what was being made as we sat at the sushi bar.
First time trying the omakase and was blown away! Completely worth the money and chef Jeff was amazing!! The ambiance is great for a date or an upgraded family function but smaller groups only. I will definitely return for the omakase experience!
Sushi Enya is one of the better sushi experiences I’ve had in Los Angeles, and it completely caught me off guard. At first glance, the space is very understated. It’s not flashy, not trendy, and not trying to impress you visually. If anything, it feels almost unassuming. But that’s exactly what makes the experience so good. The focus here is entirely on the fish and the craft. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the uni stood out immediately. It was sourced from Japan and prepared right in front of us, and you can see the care that goes into it. The texture was perfect, clean and silky, and it melted the second it hit your mouth. You can tell right away when uni is handled properly, and this was top tier. The video I posted shows the preparation, and it eats exactly how it looks. The sushi across the board was phenomenal, precise, and clearly handled by someone who knows what they’re doing. The head chef behind the counter was incredible. Skilled, confident, and clearly passionate about his craft. He walked us through what we were eating, made the experience fun, and genuinely added to the night. He even took shots with us, which somehow never took away from how serious he was about the food. It felt authentic, not performative. Pricing was very fair for the quality, especially considering the level of fish being served. It’s not the cheapest, but I don’t go out to eat cheap Sushi. Sushi Enya isn’t about scene or hype. It’s about execution, sourcing, and respect for the product. If you care about great sushi and not just appearances, this is absolutely a place worth going out of your way for.
This was the first time trying Sushi Enya. We got great service, the food came fast, and tasted as good as it looked. We ordered four special rolls and they were all delicious.
I’m a regular here - absolutely one of my favorite meals in LA. The fish is supremely fresh, the prep is simple, methodical and super super consistent. Have had ~10 meals here, usually at the counter bar - and it’s a pleasure every time. The daily list of nigiri is worth hitting up always, and the evergreen options are thoughtful and delicious. Absolute recommend. Ends up being around 75-80$ as a solo diner for a mix of nigiri maybe 10-12 pieces. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. In my opinion, really worth it.
Sat at the sushi bar on a wednesday right when they opened. Got happy hour drinks and omakase (less expensive option). Fish was very fresh. Service was very fast. Receieved miso soup, ten nigiri, and a hand roll. They hooked up the otoro! Great experience.
Had a good meal here for my friend’s birthday. Their vegan ramen and gyoza was pretty tasty, and our server Cece was super friendly and accommodating!
Delivery: spicy Garnet had great flavor and spice level was perfect. Pork Chashu Flavor was awesome too. Pork gyoza was also very good. I will be coming back to try more :)
My youngest daughter loves cooking ramen at home and I needed her to know what Little Tokyo and the soups at this location are about. My family loved the welcoming from the staff. We were able to be seated immediately. We placed our order and while discussing the restaurant our plates were soon at the table. Not boiling hot but definitely not cold! Overall, we enjoyed the food. I had the Spicy Quartz. Wife had the vegan spicy Quartz, my son had the Amber, and both my girls shared the Quartz. May I add free refills on the hot green tea! Thank you and God bless.
I was in Osaka (Japan) and tried takoyaki there...and I want to say that the takoyaki in this restaurant is top notch!!! Maybe even tastier than they were in Japan back then 🥰 I really liked the beautiful presentation and, of course, the incredible taste! 🐙 Plus, while I was waiting for my dish, I saw a huge portion of ramen at the next table 🍜 I immediately wanted to try it, so I will definitely come back again! I would also like to note that it’s cozy inside + it smells delicious. The staff is very nice and friendly ✨
This place is great if you want a lighter broth ramen. There's outdoor and indoor seating with a wait-list for you to sign up for. I got the Garnet miso ramen. I've had the shio and shit before and loved it. The broth is very flavorful and the cha siu is great and the noodles were soft and chewy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They made sure to come by to make sure we were doing ok and also attended to our needs in a timely manner. The place was very lively and popular. There can be a wait for this place and I've often gone to the Torrance location and it is of the same quality and service. The exception is that this place is open fairly late.
RAKKAN is a ramen spot that originated in Tokyo and expanded to DTLA 🍜 We arrived with a bit of a wait for a party of 2, but got seated soon after. The ambience inside is warm and cozy, perfect for dinner; they also have outdoor seating available. For ramen, I ordered the Pearl (shio/salt base). Though the presentation was nothing to be excited about (lol the egg) the flavor was indeed "clean and refreshing" with its blend of soy sauce. I also ordered an accompanying 4pc aburi salmon sushi to make it a combo and the fish was fresh, smoky, and meshed seamlessly with the rice/mayo/chives. I'd recommend this spot if you're looking for a solid ramen choice; do come early though for a reduced wait time.
Eating at Rakken Ramen is an unforgettable experience for me because of its delicious food, good service, and accessible location. The restaurant offers a good amount of vegan options, including the ramen and gyoza. The broth is so delicious that I had to eat it all. The pork ramen was also delicious, and the portion was big. The hosts were friendly and the food arrived quickly. The restaurant is close to Litte Tokyo. There are some paid street parking options, and it might take you a while to find one, In summary, l recommend it for vegetarians and lovers of Asian cuisines.
RAKKAN is a cozy little ramen spot located in the heart of Little Tokyo in DTLA. We got a seat right away and ordered two bowls of ramen (vegan, one spicy one not) and crispy vegan gyoza, as well as the spicy cucumber. Everything came quickly and was really tasty, particularly the spicy cucumber and gyoza. The noodles in the ramen were delicious, though I didn’t find my spicy ramen that spicy but that’s okay…I added some chili oil and that helped a lot! We also got some hot green tea, which was free refills, a nice touch! The ambiance was nice and so was the service. I would recommend this place and I’d come back if I was already in Little Tokyo and craving ramen. Thanks, RAKKAN!
This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Sushi Enya. The place is on the same street as the popular ramen place. We orders the 18 piece sashimi set twice and the chef was thoughtful enough to put different fish slices on the two orders. We also tried their specialty eel roll which is served on a very long dish since eels are long? Quality of the fish are quite high and attention to details are there. There are not many tables so it gets crowded. Usually there is a wait so suggest to arrive early (5PM) or use table reservations. They have a cancellation fee if you make table reservation. There is no parking on site so you have paid street parking or paid parking structure near by.
Came here for dinner in a group of 7 on a Friday night. We had to wait for an hour to get seated since we had a large group with no reservation. Indoor seating only. They have a omakase option but we all opted for a la carte. I had a chirashi bowl which was quite filling and had a lot of fish. I got green tea which came with free refills. Service was friendly and there are gendered restrooms in the back. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. It’s a classy spot to eat high quality fish.
Pretty cute lil spot! Came on a weekday around 6pm so it wasn’t too busy and conveniently during happy hour (which is 5:30-6:30)! I’m vegetarian and there were some pretty decent options. Loved the vegan green man and the Japanese potato fries were pretty good, but could use a dipping sauce like sriracha mayo or something. Shishito peppers were good as well!
The atmosphere and service are excellent! Unfortunately the food was just okay. Lacking flavor, I got the spicy quartz and my girlfriend got the standard quartz. The chicken in the ramen itself was pretty tasteful. Had a hint of sweetness. The chicken karage was excellent. Overall it was okay. We'll continue to try the other ramen places on the same street. Total for 2 ramen and 1 karage was $44. Not too bad.
Well, it was dinner time, since my hotel is in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, I've really been enjoying Asian food. I've enjoyed Ramen a few times and have never been disappointed. Tonight I dined at Rakkan Ramen and really enjoyed their Ramen and Bean Sprouts Salad. I know I say this most every time, but this was excellent. The Bean Sprouts salad was spicy, but not overly so. I ordered their Spicy Garnet Ramen and didn't feel it was Spicy at all. Maybe the salad overpowered it. It was still quite good, just not that Spicy. Stop by, you'll enjoy yourself. But arrive early, the seating area is small.
Tried this ramen spot in Little Tokyo (Japan Town, DTLA) with my family it was definitely worth the visit! The ramen here is a little different from the usual spots, but that makes it unique and memorable. Flavorful broth, good portions, and everything felt fresh. My favorite was definitely the miso Ramen, also I loved the fact that you can customize it. My kido love the kids ramen options as well. Service was friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. The location is great too—perfect for grabbing a bowl of ramen before or after exploring the neighborhood. Solid choice for ramen lovers looking for something a bit different!
cozy ramen spot with outdoor seatings. We ordered pork gyoza and fries as appetizers, port gyoza is good and crispy. Then we ordered ruby, spicy ruby and spicy garnet, overall is fine. Spicy miso soup from the spicy ruby is good, ramen noodle is good chewing texture, just didn’t really like the chicken chashu, it’s just a slice of chicken breast, nothing special about it (to me, chashu is grilled style pork with charred favor). Overall is fine for a quick dinner
You can find better sushi place. Price is even more expensive than other better sushi restaurants. Sushi Enya doesn’t have variety of fish, it seems like its kain target customer base is not Asian. If you are willing to spend this money and experience better sushi, try Sushi Gen or Hama Sushi. Sushman and clerks are very kind and professional.
The fish is fresh and tastes delicious. The prices are crazy though for the rolls. Almost 30 dollars for one roll. I can get a better roll for cheaper. They are always awkwardly cut too. I come here all the time. I think I’ll just sticks with the crispy rice and albacore sushi pieces. At night they also spray this cleaning solution while cleaning and wrapping up. It’s so overpowering that it’s makes the dining experience terrible. If go ill go before 9.
At Rakkan Ramen in Little Tokyo, the dining experience feels distinct compared to the many tonkotsu-focused ramen shops in Los Angeles. Instead of heavy pork-based broths, Rakkan highlights lighter soy sauce, salt, and miso varieties, which give guests a refreshing yet flavorful option. The broth itself is light in body but still carries a slightly stronger taste, offering a good balance for those who prefer something savory without being overwhelmingly rich. The thin noodles complement the soup well, holding the flavors with every bite, and they are neither too soft nor too firm. Toppings are simple and not overly elaborate, allowing the quality of the soup to shine through. The chashu, rather than being extremely tender, has a firmer and more structured texture, which some diners may find pleasantly different. The restaurant is cozy and compact rather than spacious, with a darker, calm interior that creates an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. It feels like the kind of place where you can take your time and enjoy your meal quietly. In addition, the staff members are attentive and friendly, providing warm and efficient service that enhances the overall dining experience. Altogether, Rakkan offers a refined yet approachable ramen experience that stands out in Los Angeles for its unique broths, thoughtful presentation, and comfortable ambiance.
Fish quality is great really. But this is only worth it if you get nigiri or sashimi and even then I feel it’s a bit expensive for the area. Do not get any rolls because you will be skimped out on sushi. I ordered the rainbow roll and had tiny thin see through pieces, ik they won’t be as big as a sashimi piece but still this is insane because ik a few sushi places in la for slightly cheaper w bigger chunks on the rolls. Sushi enya is not worth it
