Great Japanese food and a fun Showa atmosphere.

An update for yesterday review: Finally was delivered. If not that - food is amazing. Best I tried in LA till now. Would be good to have an better description on menu Would never recommend ordering online- waiting 1.5 hr now instead of25/30 min and not sure it arrives. Restaurant “has no control on delivery” even though I ordered directly from website, delivery guy has not even asked for any details like phone number so most probably he will not be able access the building, the worst ever experience with delivery

I love this place. The sushi is really fresh and always good. Their signature rolls are delicious. They have these potatoe cake things that are amazing. One order is never enough. The butter fish is also really good. Unlike anything I've ever had. Go ahead and order 2 orders, you won't regret it.

Real chill vibe and great food. Reminds me of the casual spots in Tokyo. The izakaya is tasty and sushi is good too, plus you can’t go wrong with Sapporo on tap. The staff is really friendly and makes you feel welcome.

One of my go-to places. The only down side is that La Brea is so loud and parking is hit or miss.

Favorite Japanese restaurant in LA. Such a fun atmosphere and thorough customer service. I recommend the Uni Lovers Roll, yakitori, karaage, and tofu salad. Many of the staff has worked here for years so you know it's a good place to be. Great spot for going out with friends and family to eat and drink. Weekends get crowded so it's good to call to get a reservation.

Great place, from the time you walk in until you ask for the check the atmosphere friendly and upbeat. The interior looks like those in every Japanese movie you have ever seen. The food is excellent and the customer service is typical Japanese over the top. They make you feel like a regular and it kind of makes you want to be one.

This is a fun little izakaya style bar restaurant. Had a good vibe and friendly staff. Let my pup sit outside and I was grateful for that. Both the sushi and bar snacks were great, I had the chicken liver, which was very yum. The tuna rolls and nigiri was fresh and better than what you often get at theoretically "nicer" spots. I found the unpretentious menu a relieve, particularly in this neck of the woods.

I must start by say this was great sushi . Really good food . Great for quick bites or a romanticish dinner with your love one. The sushi was really fresh , really tasty and forth every dollar . The dynamite was really good the Philly roll like always one is one of my favorites follow by the California roll . Definitely recommend the garlic edamame ; spicy and garlicky . Shared with a nice cold glass of Sapporo premium beer . Definitely going back. 3/26 went back chill quite food and service was great

Great sushi, with some vegan options. This place makes you think you’re in Japan lowkey! Good service, staff was on top of our orders from beginning to end, very attentive and the workers made sure our table were clean at all times, and always refilled our water. Very happy I found this sushi spot at my new neighborhood!

Unfortunately this is the most mid level sushi. I used to go here all the time pre Covid and it had a long wait, really delicious rice and rolls. I think they must have changed sushi chefs and their products because the taste and texture is similar to that of grocery store sushi. I think they need to make some major upgrades to the ingredients and menu, and do a grand re opening. They are right beside several very busy restaurants, and they have the potential to be great, and stand out; since they are the only sushi restaurant on that block. The ambiance and service are just right, plus they are open late. I am rooting for this place, but can’t go back here as it’s not worth it for the quality and taste.

Food is consistently perfect every time I go here. It is now my favorite spot for sushi and mentaiko udon! The servers are very attentive, pleasant, and welcoming. They always deserve fat tips. It is a small, cozy, homey little place and it seems like they just added outdoor seating too! Only thing I hate is the parking situation, but it’s a 5 minute walk or less if you park further and really isn’t too bad. I absolutely adore this place and highly recommend it!!!

Like a lot of Japanese eateries, a bit pricey but a vibe :) drink Sapporo and have chicken tail, salmon belly, okra, and pork jowel skewers.

We LOVE this place! Super fun lively vibe from the warm animated crew of servers and the great music! The sushi is consistently beyond delicious and fresh AF! They do traditional offerings and their own creative twists equally well. They also have a robata grill if you like skewers. Highly recommend!

My favorite hole-in-the-wall place to get fantastic sushi. Always fresh and so good. Atmosphere with old Japanese movie posters on the wall is really cool. Good sake selection as well.

Stumbled into here on New Years Eve because the pasta place just on the corner was closed. Got seated immediately chose the bar just for fun. The service was good nothing to complain about and the food was great too! That jalapeño roll was NO joke about how hot it was going to be and it was perfecccttt. The atmosphere was really what got me. Not just the decor but the upstairs DJ that started at 10pm turned on the disco ball and played oldies it was amazing! Got the large sapparro and the lychee sour and it was perfect. Definitely coming back to being more friends <3

I have a soft spot for classic Japanese restaurants that have Yakitori as they remind me of a childhood restaurant. Sake House Miro was a recommendation from good friends who moved to LA so naturally we came to try it! The Yakitori we ordered was all delicious. Favorite was probably the salmon belly skewers: fatty and satisfying! Their version of curry was good, darker curry with light sweet flavor rather than with any heat. We had a bottle of sake which was also fine. The staff all seemed friendly and very helpful. All in all really good. Will visit again!

I had the hand roll special came with 1 ca / 1 salmon / one shrimp tempura / spicy tuna. Side of salad and miso soup. The rice is well seasoned and the rolls are just well made. Cant wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. My host sayaka and vicky definitely set the mood with their smiles and vibrant vibes. If you are around the area stop on by they will welcome you gracefully.

We loved this place. Everything about it was an amazing experience. The staff was very entertaining, the food was incredible, their sake varieties were amazing and just the entire atmosphere made us feel like home. If you have been to Japan you have to come here. It is an authentic restaurant that will definitely feel your belly and make you want to come back.

The fish swims onto your plate just moments before being served to you. The freshest ingredients prepared in authentic style to perfection. We just found Japan in our backyard. Everything from the lanterns hung above, to the wood planks we walked above transported us to the land of the rising sun. We ordered the zucchini roll, avocado roll, tuna roll, Godzilla Roll, and pork gyoza. All of it was phenomenal and would highly recommend. The Oolong tea served from a can imported from Japan, was extremely refreshing and delicious. Service was attentive and detailed, the best of the best at welcoming guests and showing them to a splendid dining experience. The second we left we talked about when we are coming back because this is our new favorite restaurant. Arigato, Sake House Miro

You know what, I “should have” written this during my first visit - I technically came here three times in the course of a week but only dined twice - but I ate so fast the first time, I didn’t have a chance to capture the food. So here I am, making up for it and giving this place its rightful props. I was completely oblivious to this gem of an establishment, that is right in my neighborhood mind you, until a visiting friend of mine pulled me out of the house for a post home brunch drink; and I’m so glad she did. I very much looooooved my first visit, having had hot sake and a maki roll - spicy yellowtail. That sake was perfection and the roll was super fresh, like the catch just came in at 8pm. The second time I visited here was with another visiting friend - you might notice a pattern of this in other reviews of mine, as I love bring everyone I know to my new favorite places. The wait was a bit ling for our level of our hunger so we took the L and decided to come back the next day. So arriving the next day (my 3rd visit) made up for the night before and increased the joy of the experience with the added mutual friend who came to dine with us. I know, I know, get to the food… I the rainbow maki roll and a hot sake (of course), while my friends had the Bul Ko Ki w/rice and the Udon. I didn’t taste their food but it was clear that they were as satisfied as I was with mine. That roll was, again, so fresh and surprisingly filling, considering I can take back 3 or 4 rolls before I bow out. Simply perfection. We dine outside since it was a great evening out and it all made for a wonderful time. There is zero doubt in my mind that I will be back, especially since it’s only a walk away. Sushi and sake are my go-to food fix and to know that I have a nearby option to pig out puts me in my happy place! See y’all soon!

Great sushi option in my local neighborhood. Note that this place is not your typical sushi restaurant, it's more of a joint, and I would best describe it as a sushi diner. It's not trendy and doesn't create a romantic ambiance, but that's part of its charm. It's kind of like a local bar but that happens to serve sushi/japanese food. The food is good and fairly priced. We've tried various skewers (chicken, scallops etc) and sushi rolls, and all has been surprisingly very good. Service is slow and could definitely be better, but it actually doesn't bother me because of the feel of the place and the food. It's nice to have found another neighborhood spot my fiance and i can walk to!

We fancied some sushi and my friend had already been here before and liked it. We were thoughtfully given a table inside and proceeded to browse through the huge menu. Even the sushi menu was big and informative. So many choices, so many temptations. My Dragon Roll was a satisfying combination of smooth and slightly crispy textures, savoury and slightly sweet flavours. The Blue Crab Roll also contained avocado, cucumber, and a dash of mayo - still really good but pipped at the post by the Dragon Roll. My friend enjoyed her Spicy Tuna Roll and the assorted sushi pieces. Service was thoughtful when available but a little patchy. The woody decor transported us to a little part of Japan, cozy and functional. The overall experience was positive and aligned with the good ratings here.

Went looking for sushi at 11pm on a thursday night. Found this very small place. Sashimi quality was good. The yellowtail sashimi portion was a decent size serving. Too many places slice everything super thin nowadays to save $. Enjoyed the Agedashi Tofu. The beef skewer was too tough to eat. The only let down. But i will return.

Food is 3* Atmosphere 5* Service 5* Food is available until midnight! It's a decent budget range menu. Did not expect butter fish would be fried, but it was juicy and soft, however way too much salt. Too much salt in the truffle roll as well. Crab salad in our Rainbow Roll left me craving for more, it was addicting! Ikura eggs are huge and clear. Avocado roll was super fresh. Atmosphere and service are a whole another story! If you need an instant mood elevator, come to this place! It is eclectic, with brick wall exposed, big and small posters all over, this restaurant is buzzing with chatter, crew shouts out greetings and good-byes. The place is electric with positive vibes. Stopped in for some dinner after a movie. I like the tapas style restaurant. It gives you a chance to try a lot of menu items at once. I had the yellowtail roll, yellowtail sashimi, Philadelphia Rolls, Karaage. Everything was solid. The Karaage was a little overcooked though. Overall 4/5. Good service. I'll definitely try this place again.

Fantastic atmosphere. Fun inside and also pleasant to eat out front. Service is typically prompt and efficient. Menu is vast and varied. Food is generally very good. We enjoy the yellowtail collar, the yakitori, and sushi. There’s a mackerel, shiso, ume maki roll I love. A great spot we’re lucky to have in the neighborhood!

Sushi is just ok. The menu is misleading for some sushi rolls. I ordered a truffle infused roll but there was no truffle smell or taste at all. I asked a server and she said they use truffle salt but I guess it's a very low quality one because there was nothing smell or taste wise in it. Overall I would not come back here. Service was good but the food was not so much.

Had family in town and wanted to take them to a place that we previously had good experiences at. Unfortunately this did not live up to previous expectations. We were waiting at least 1.30hrs for sushi to arrive, the waitress clearly had forgotten to input our order and needed a reminder. The tables on either side came in, ate and left before our food had even arrived. The worst part is that there was no apology for the late food or any suggestion to discount the bill in any way. Shame to have experienced this

The portions here are ridiculously small. We ordered 2 dishes just as a light snack but they were so small. See images for the ridiculous size of this. We got the mini Ikura Bowl ($8) and the salmon yuzu ($13) and the portion was literally 1/4 of an appetizer. With the amount of money you are paying and portion size that you receive, expect to spend literally $40-$50 a person to be full which literally goes against the entire spirit of izakaya which should be cheap affordable bar food. Yes, I understand "American" izakaya is more inflated but this is straight highway robbery. I cannot emphasize how tiny the portions are; look at other picturea. Would not recommend this place unless you're ready to pay fine dining prices for izakaya food.

This place IS fun for drinks and perhaps after you’re drunk enough the food becomes edible. Do not come here for lunch or dinner expecting a tasty meal. Everything we ordered except the meatballs was mediocre at best. Would definitely chose another Izakaya in the future.

This review is for the rude service upon arrival. Our first time and last time trying to check out this place. We didn't get a chance to eat there. We showed up at 7:30p and put our names (2 ppl) on the clipboard hanging outside the door. Waited a few minutes but then saw people walking and seating themselves. We asked the male server/host about how the system works. And his curt reply was, "we just opened. no table, no bar, don't no how long the wait is" and he rudely walked away from us. We tried to flag someone else down to understand if it was reservations only, but were also ignored. The clipboard outside indicated that they take walk ins. We decided to leave and not bother giving them out business after that interaction. Learn how to treat customers. THEN, also had to pay $7 valet on top of it for even just 10min.

By far the worst ramen I’ve ever had. Spent a long day at The Grove and was looking forward to eat ramen and found this place since it had a good rating on google maps. Ordered the premium and spicy tonkotsu ramen and they were both very disappointing. The blandness of the food still didn’t go past my hunger. It was overflowing with soup, very tasteless and the spicy ramen was not spicy at all. Tasted the same as the regular one. I would’ve expected better or somewhat decent for an almost $20 ramen! I don’t know about the other food they serve but definitely not the place to go for a ramen. Will definitely avoid this place from now on when I am in LA looking for ramen.

Walk with my service animal to have dinner and they refused to sit us inside the restaurant. The manager said it was because they could smell my dog and my dog did not smell. I told the manager numerous times he is a service animal and refuses to see the dog information. Worst customer service and rude management. I do not recommend this place

M
Marlie B

The services was awful. Placed a drink order with the same worker who took my dates order and she rolled her eyes and walked away. Luckily another woman came to check in with us and I was able to order with her. This was not a shorthand issue it was a rude issue as the same worker would not acknowledge me after the eye roll incident. Sad because she was a beautiful girl for such an ugly attitude. The vegetable skewers were mush and no seasoning at all. Good place if you want cheap beer. Obviously I won’t be back or singing this places praises anytime soon.

V
Vivia Liang

I have to say the atmosphere was the only good thing about this place. I saw some of the reviews mentioned good things about sushi, I did not order sushi so can't comment on that, but everything I ordered didn't taste good, either too heavily flavored or had no flavor at all. Not a place I would go for food again. Also they required 18% gratitude which was built in the bill.

A
Albina Baimurziyeva

none of the food was tasty, the waiter was rude, they insisted that I pay the bill in advance. I explained that I would pay when I left. But they still said no, I had to pay in advance. Where is the rule that you have to pay in advance? So they ruined my appetite. The food is not worth the money, I usually eat at Ramen La Brea, but unfortunately they are closed today, and I had to try the new Sake House Miso cuisine. The waitress was also very clumsy, she broke a bottle of soy in front of me. Ruined my clothes. I am attaching photos. I do not recommend this place to anyone, go to La Brea Ramen or Tatsu Ramen instead!

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! This is not just the first time. The waitress was so rude from the time we walked in. We got there 50 minutes earlier than their last call which is at 11:30 pm and the waitress was still rushing us to order the food saying it is almost last call. She came up to us every single minute asking what we want. When I asked if they have any roll without fish she told very vague answers like she was annoyed of me and when i said okay got it give me a minute she rolled her eyes and left. After we put in our order she brought some plates and just threw it on the table and left. After about 10 minutes we got the food and the waitress was just staring at us like we have done something we shouldn’t have done. After paying I didn’t leave tip on purpose and she was like “WAS THERE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE” after I explained everything she was like “you didn’t leave tip last time either” like she was holding some kind of grudge and arguing with me BECAUSE I DID NOT LEAVE TIP.
