Poolside at the Hollywood Roosevelt. Good food and excellent service
My favorite pool in LA. Prices are reasonable and it's never really crowded. Pool is painted by David Hockney. There's plenty of shade and umbrellas just ask. There's also a ping pong table if you feel like having a bit of fun and it's in the shade... The menu isn't bad either I kept it simple and just had the chips with guacamole and salsa. I also had the salad which was pretty tasty as well.
My friend and I went to the Rosy Cafe at Tropicana. We had an amazing experience we bought sliders, calamari, and hot wings. All so tasty and their drinks are awesome. I happened to order a virgin drink, however, they inserted a shot without knowing, which was an interesting experience. Raul was our bartender and waiter and he did a great job serving food and drinks. Scene was beautiful and to top it off Raul brought a cake and shot for my friend since it was her birthday.
5 Stars...Ultra cool vintage vibes and sophistication!
This poolside bar is packed with all the good vibes one could ever hope for in such a wonderful environment. The drinks are tasty here, although my dining was in the adjacent cafe.
It is a nice bar, that is located inside Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. They have nice pool parties in the summer, and the entry is usually free. The pool is quite nice. However, the drinks were, while I was there, on the expensive side. Of course, I have been here in 2016, so things might have changed. I might visit this bar again, when I have some free time.
One of my favorite lunch spots in Hollywood, the food is great, the service is friendly, and what better place to eat lunch than poolside. I recommend the chicken Cobb salad and the burgers.
Fantastic place with a great atmosphere :) A perfect place for breakfast with champagne in the pool among palm trees and club music. Service at the highest level. I will definitely come back👍🏼
Great poolside vibe and a warm fire place with amazing drinks and good but limited food options . The best part is we do not have to go out of the hotel to enjoy our evening drinks . The staff were super friendly and very understanding . You get limited options in the food but its a place to enjoy your drinks in the evenings with bite size food . Highly recommended .
Their breakfast was really great and the cocktails were terrific! One of the dishes were served with a bad ingredient but the staff was quick to remedy the issue and even comped both the dish and one of our drinks.
Simply my favourite place to hang out when in LA. The Tropicana bar at The Hollywood Roosevelt offers the highest standard customer service and simple, flavoursome food and drinks. If you’re looking for an outdoor venue with a touch of vintage class, this is your spot.
I'm really not much of hang-out-by-the-pool kinda guy, on account of my easily sunburned skin. But I risked the blisters and spent a whole afternoon here, slamming mojitos ($16 a pop, ouch, but hey I wasn't about to skimp on my vacation), taking the occasional dip in the slightly too-warm water, getting a free massage from a nice lady name Yootie (sic?), and checking out the bikini babes. The music, mostly motown and jazz, was at just the right volume and really added to the chill old school vibe.
Best breakfast since leaving Aust nearly a month ago. Great food, amazing smoothies, good coffee, great atmosphere based around the pool. Highly recommended....
The food was good. The service was great. Everything was made to order , Probably will be coming back for more. I ordered the lunch combo and it was more than enough and even had leftovers!
Beautiful cafe with a pool view tucked away in the Roosevelt hotel Coffee is great especially considering they have a La Marzocco espresso machine
I recently spent the day at the Roosevelt Pool and the service was absolutely amazing. I started at the bar with a bartender named Craig, who was outstanding. He was so professional and made the best cocktails ever. He made my time there so enjoyable. My server was Shonda, and she was beautiful, kind, and incredibly attentive. She had the best attitude and I couldn’t have asked for a better waitress. A runner named Gabriel was fast and made sure I had anything else I needed, and I was truly grateful. It was a really nice day to finish off summer with my best friend. The burger was so good, cooked perfectly, and I truly enjoyed it. My only disappointment was that fries weren’t included, and the burger was $30. Fries should definitely come with it for that price, but overall it was a great meal and an amazing experience.
Servers were great, food was good, love the eggs, turkey sausage good but need some moist, maybe some sort of sauce or something. BTW manager was concerned with apple pay that she wanted my ID 😅, apparently is safer with a fiscal card which I found kinda interesting (I wasn't dress for the occasion maybe thats why she thought so) was kinda uncomfortable. Overall recommended.
This poolside restaurant is so great. We ate there a few times and also had breakfast by the pool. I had the açai bowl with potatoes on the side, which was such a good combo. We also got the margarita pizza, chips and guac, and of course a margarita. Everything was really delicious. The service was incredibly slow, but we didn’t mind since we were relaxing in the sun.
My friend invited me here spontaneously and I loved it! The atmosphere is a must place to be this spring and summer! We ordered delicious food, drinks and sat outside by the pool!
Awesome poolside bar/eatery. Decor/colors has a 50s/60s pool party vibe. The Roosevelt has done well in maintaining the look. Food/drinks were all legit. Will definitely be back. For visitors/tourists, it's LA, so don't expect cheap drinks/happy hour, & they charge automatic 18% gratuity for ALL orders. That being said, it's a chill little hidden gem.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and setting. It looks and feels so exclusive and glamorous but this teacher from Missouri (me) felt very welcomed. Great place to relax and visit!
The pool and bar is conveniently located in the heat of Hollywood. One can relax at the Tropicana pool bar of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. A buzzing atmosphere, great service, and good food/drinks. There are plenty of events taking place statue pool. Some of those events are not available to the public, but hotel guests may attend.
The Tropicana Pool is an icon and worth spending some time there for drinks, breakfast or a swim 🏊 the mural was painted by David Hockney and Marilyn Monroe had one of her very first photoshoots by the pool
One of the best bar in Los Angeles. If you are a guest of the hotel you can have acces to the pool and the bar, it is a really nice atmosphere
Sam and Sami make an excellent team. Our hostess was kind and helped us to our beach chairs. Our waitress was friendly and timely. We had an excellent experience!
The Roosevelt's poolside club. Marilyn Monroe lived in the cabana above the bar and legend has it her ghost still sunbathes on the terrace. Great drinks great service.
I would definitely recommend, for a pool side relaxful day. The drinks were perfect. The ambience was great.

An amazing day at the pool with my friends from school. The bartenders' service is excellent.
Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to let Abigail, the manager, know how exceptional Magen and Michael was from the start of their shift till I took off at 1pm. She got busy and I get it. I enjoyed my overnight stay here and woke up to a great service and vibes! I just wanted to make it know that they did a great job!

The Roosevelt Bar and Grill delivers the kind of experience that makes you recalibrate your expectations for what a neighborhood spot can be. The moment you walk in, the lighting hits that rare balance between warm and cinematic, and the space hums with the confidence of a place that knows exactly what it’s doing. The menu reads straightforward, but the execution is surgical. The signature Roosevelt Burger arrives stacked with a perfectly charred crust, a melt that means business, and a brioche bun that actually holds its structural integrity. Their steak—medium rare requested, medium rare delivered—is seasoned like someone in the kitchen takes personal pride in proving you right for ordering it. Drinks are where the Roosevelt shows off. Cocktails come out looking composed but not pretentious, and the bartenders actually know how to build flavor rather than drown it in sugar. The Old Fashioned is the quiet assassin of the lineup: clean, assertive, and exactly as strong as you hope it is. Service is efficient without hovering, the staff moves like a coordinated unit, and the timing between courses feels engineered rather than accidental. Even during peak hours, you don’t get that “lost in the crowd” lag that ruins so many otherwise good restaurants. The Roosevelt is the kind of bar and grill that nails the fundamentals so well it feels premium without trying. If you want a place where the atmosphere carries you, the food grounds you, and the drinks remind you why you left the house, this is it.

$18 for the spawn rice bowl. I still can't believe the restaurant costs $18 for their spawn rice bowl.I thought my mom who was very bad at cooking could make it better. I'm upset and very disappointed about their dishonest. Restaurant owners must not indirectly force customers to pay something is not worth for the price. Even the spawn rice bowl tasted bad as well.
Pretty pool bar in Roosevelt hotel with an old-world Hollywood style atmosphere. Very pricey drinks, but a fun place to stop in at to impress out of town guests or for out of towners visiting LA.
Good jukebox with a nice selection of beers on tap. Fortunately, this place is open after some of the other bars close. The pool table and foosball are a nice addition, just wish I could find someone to play foosball against...
After waiting 20 minutes nobody had come to take my order or ask if I wanted anything. Pool excellent.
The ceviche was amazing but service was terrible. It took so long to be served and even longer for our server to check in on us. It would be understandable if they were very busy but we saw our server chatting at the bar with other employees the entire time. Atmosphere is great though. The restaurant is located right beside the pool and it's a great vibe!
The Roosevelt pool is as important to lore of Hollywood as the walk of fame. I've been here literally hundreds of times and although the prices are insane, the food mediocre and the service usually TERRIBLE, the scene is still fun and always a good time. If you're visiting I advise you get a pool room, bring you own "party supplies" and you're gautanteed to have a blast!

I’m rarely compelled to write a review, but I had to after visiting on a Sunday night. I swear I’ve never felt like more of a bother at a bar than after ordering a drink at this place. After ordering one of the 18 dollar cocktails (all the cocktails were around that price, including their draft margaritas), the bartender made it seem as if I had just asked her to grow the fruit herself and say a prayer while she blessed the drink. It wasn’t a one-off moment either, we tried to be super nice since she seemed bothered and her attitude didn’t change when it became apparent some of the ingredients were out of stock. The rest of the staff had the same attitude. Even when switching to a draft marg, we felt like we should rush and get out or she would spit in our drink. At 10pm on a sunday at a Hollywood iconic bar you’d think they would at least try. Marylin Monroe’s ghost has hopefully seen better service at that place, watching from above.. The margarita was decent, the parmesan fries were great, the vibe was strange and relaxed like other hollywood bars. pool of course was a nice view. I hope the staff however has had a chance to fix their attitude problem by the time we visit again.

This place USE TO BE the best place in Hollywood to go too for a pool day. It is vintage with lots of history of old Hollywood.l Ever since 2023 it is Owned by new management and it is going extremely downhill you are no longer allowed to smoke by the pool. You can’t have dogs by the pool anymore. but you ARE allowed to have your top off in front of children? It’s still an topless optional pool. But god forbid I light up a cigarette… The food is outrageously priced $20 for one drink. I’ve been coming here for over a decade and was extremely disappointed this time.
The worst service I ever had. The place itself is very nice and I would like to back but service there … We came for the movie night on Thursday. Hostess let us in and told that in few minutes server will come up to take your order. 20 min nobody came. When we found out who is serving we asked for a menus and that will be ready to order in 5 minutes. Again nobody came for 15 min. We asked the guy who was wearing uniform who got our order, in 7 minutes after that another server came to repeat the order and it all was wrong. They don’t know menu, they don’t know what drinks they have at the bar. Anyways food finally came, no napkins, no cutlery. We closed our check at the bar coz of Apple Pay, they asked us to walk there. Then they lost our check and one by one were coming to ask and ask what was the last name and telling all the last names they had. I got a drink, tables there are wobbly, after 1 sip my drink dropped on the floor. They didn’t offer napkins, didn’t clean, didn’t offer a new drink. At that time I was already pissed of this servise, I told about that tables is shaking can you do something about it, we still have other drinks there and lot of food. Our server answer killed me ( Don’t you see that the floor is uneven that way the table wobbles, if you want a new drink, go get it at the bar, if you don’t like something I can get you a manager ) Well I said yes please call me a manager, but manager never came too … I believe your guests deserve better service!!!!
The worst bar food ever!! The $27 tacos shouldn’t even cost that. There was no flavor, and the octopus made me sick because it wasn't cooked right. I threw away the wings, which were undercooked and without flavor.
Since it was a holiday weekend, they SEVERELY restricted the menu to just a few items, including NO green salad or vegetable options. 3 out of our party of 4 were unable to find even one menu option that fit our dietary restrictions. Happily, though the service was very good and our server was able to get the kitchen to provide 2 options that worked for 2 out of the 3 of us. (The 3rd person basically had very little to eat 🙁) The food was pretty mediocre and the dj music playing in the background was SO loud we couldn't hear ourselves think. Okay, so maybe we aren't the right demographic, but... they should have at least let us know ahead of time the menu we thought we would be ordering from wouldn't be available. Not returning pretty much ever.
The service was very bad and poor, the waiters were very slow . Waited forever for refills for coffee. The whole hotel needs a good scrubbing very dirty. The elevators were not working and it took forever to get to our room and to the lobby.
The photos on Yelp looked very promising, but our experience was quite the opposite. The breakfast was incredibly expensive, and the quality did not justify the high prices. I'm willing to spend good money on food, but it must come with value, which this place lacked entirely. We ordered a basic breakfast platter that cost a small fortune, yet the portions were disappointingly small and lacked flavor. The Benedicts were lacking ingredients, simply served with a side of potatoes. The toast was barely warm, and the bacon was overcooked and greasy. To make matters worse, we ordered espressos, expecting a rich and satisfying coffee experience. Instead, we were served burnt-tasting coffee in paper cups, and to our shock, we were charged $10 for each espresso. The presentation and taste were absolutely unacceptable for that price. On top of that, we were forced to pay an 18% tip since it was added to the bill automatically. This would be fine if the service was exceptional, but it was very disappointing. Overall, this restaurant did not deliver on its promises. The high prices are unjustifiable given the mediocre food, poor coffee quality, and lackluster service. I won't be returning, and I suggest you think twice before dining here.

I am being generous to give one star. I wanted to take my teenage grandchildren out for a nice lunch while they were in town. I called before going to see if we needed reservations and if my well behaved dog was allowed. The young man that answered my call was very polite and accommodating, and assured me we didn’t need reservations, my dog was welcome, and was gracious enough to give me detailed directions to the Tropicana. When we arrived, we found our way through the hotel lobby, to the outside poolside cafe, after stopping to speak to a less than welcoming bartender. She told us we could SIT ANYWHERE. There were only 2 occupied tables, and we found our way to a table, no problem. We waited at least 20 mins to be acknowledged, the waitress, not unpleasant, but definitely not hospitable, took our order. After another 20 mins, we still did not have drinks. The table that seated immediately before us had finished their food. We left. On our way out, we saw the waitress and told her we were leaving and why. She offered the excuse of being THE ONLY ONE SCHEDULED TODAY. maybe true, but she had 3 tables. Completely unacceptable.
