Opinions de What the Fish Los Angeles
Cute little sushi spot! I can tell the employees all seem to be enjoying themselves and having a good time. We got in before they closed and were the only people in for a quick little date, the employees were all very friendly and witty. Good rolls! The 911 roll is my new favorite for sure although I only got pics of the rainbow roll.
I got recommended this place from one of my local friends. I was going to help her doing something at her house, so we stopped by to get some delicious take-out order. Even the restaurant has small space, but their fishes are big! My definition of the word big is variety of fishes, creativity, quality, taste and service. We got sashimi, Nue: Tuna, salmon, yellowtail wrapped in cucumber. This menu is very good for my diet because I try to avoid eating too much carb. I got 3 orders of premium sushi, Sea Urchin. Fish is fresh and I love all food I got from this place. Stuff was friendly and welcoming. My friend said this restaurant is one of her most favorite.
Ordered BSCR Roll for pickup. Really yummy!
Great service and funny owner!! And great food and atmosphere
Amazing little place. The shop is very small and cozy. Service is super fast. I LOVE their garlic edamame sooo much! Their teriyaki salmon bowl was also delicious! Highly recommend. The only downside is it’s in a pretty busy area and parking kind of sucks a little. It’s still totally worth it tho!
I ordered via Postmates. This is the most vegetarian and vegan friendly sushi place I've found in a while, I'm so impressed. Normally vegans are stuck with edemame and an avocado roll but this place had so many options. I got the veggie gyoza, green roll, spicy vegetable roll, and tempura sweet potato roll and they were all delicious. I'll definitely be back to try all the other veggie options.
Great little sushi spot. Small, but never a wait. The dinner sushi combination is delicious and plentiful. It was a great variety of high grade sushi and soup. Get it, you won’t be disappointed.

Great affordable sushi in the hood. Is it fancy? Hell no, it's a tiny little cramped place that probably does 90 percent of its business with takeout. We get takeout from there all the time but my son and I also drop in pretty regularly. The fact that Kombu down in the junction is rated better is obscene. Kombu is disgusting and this place always delivers. You'll see a lot of the whiny reviews are bitching about the interior. Bro, it's a tiny little sushi joint. You people are why Silverlake isn't cool anymore.

I was very happy we stopped by. The service was very good and the fish was very fresh. Great place for sushi, but parking is tough and the restaurant feels a bit crowded (not by patrons). Good prices imo. 4.5 stars.
Went here for lunch the other day - had always wanted to try it. Was looking for a solid, reliable lunch spot for sushi - found it! Ordered one of the "lunch specials" (which they serve all day) - 5 piece sushi, 8 piece California roll & miso soup. Nothing fancy, but everything was very tasty. Service was fast, friendly, but the interior is small, so expect a wait during prime times.

I'm going to be honest before anything else I type here: I only found this place because of its close proximity to Magpies Ice Cream down the street. This afternoon, I found I had a sushi and sashimi craving, and this place handled it pretty well. Firstly, the inside of What the Fish is tiny and cramped. There are only about three tables available. I'm 5'6" and I felt like I was too tall for the seats... Umm, I've never had that happen at any other restaurant before, and I eat out often. Their fish was somewhere in the middle; not the best, but not the worst. Certainly better than grocery store sushi. They also offer some varieties I've never seen at other places. For example, the baked Rowena Roll consists of tempura yellowtail, avocado, and cucumber with eel sauce. They even have sweet potato rolls. As for me, I liked my scallop nigiri and baked mussels. The others, like salmon and yellowtail, were alright. Probably wouldn't return unless I was with someone who wanted to.
Your standard strip mall style sushi place. Food is ok... but was dissapointed by protein portions for the hot bowls which seemed a bit on the stingy side.

This place is a true 3. Sometimes it’s a 5 sometimes it’s a 1. The first few times were amazing and fairly priced then 2-3 times in a row the food was bad. And then it has been a roulette « are you catching What the Fish on a good day »
I just ordered here, so sad on what I got, I ordered Obama roll and size was too small and seems like they made it in a rush and for $19??? Overpriced. They forgot to Put the main sauce. Quality has changed for bad. I’ll never gonna order here again.

I order the bento box … The teriyaki chicken was dry and in pieces look like precooked …. The California rolled tasted like the ones u buy like at a supermarket the avocado on the rolled was brown tasted not fresh …. I guess these restaurant is like a McDonald’s of such I
I'm wondering what happened to this place. The rolls were esthetically poorly made. The main ingredient in each roll was so minimal, that I barely tasted it properly. The rolls were cut so unevenly that a few pieces were impossible to eat without biting into them. Once my food was served, I never saw the server again. I needed more sauce. When I went home, I had food poisoning.

I ordered miso soups that weren’t particularly cheap. The fotos show nice and full miso soups with all the usual ingredients- seaweed, tofu, scallions etc. if I order miso soup I expect the usual ingredients, especially with such an abundant photo. This is what I got instead: a container of broth with zero tofu, herbs, or seaweed, and not even full to the top. Rip off.
Priced higher than Sugar Fish, and quality is about grocery store level. Went in and ordered edamame, rainbow roll, and albacore role: that was 37$ (13 piece of sushi total) + tip ended up paying 42$. Service was terrible, asked for a side of sauce and they said it would be 1.50$ extra per sauce. I absolutely do not recommend this spot.
Don’t order anything from this place. I ordered gyoza and few rolls. Gyoza was burnt, rolls are not tasty and a lot of rice. Some rolls was falling apart. All the rolls had different size. And i paid for this bs $50. Very disappointed.
AVOID THIS PLACE - they refuse to take phone orders so we ordered a few vegetable rolls and seaweed salad through their online service. When the total came to almost $45 we assumed it would be a decent amount of bites - like there isn't even fish included. There were less pieces and poorer quality than what you'd find in an average bodega. See the photo, that the bagged this - WITHOUT soy sauce and chopsticks - and tagged it as take out is embarrassing. Lastly, it was dry, the roll pieces were falling apart. Had I been the one picking it up I would have asked for a return. What a messy expensive joke.

I will order first time today . Deluxe sashimi 12pcs and salmon sashimi 6pcs , laker roll and miso soup I can pay $ 81.53 +tip so expensive and I was shocked. , I was so disappointed and money earlier. It was so terrible, so insincere, so small that it was very expensive and I won't be ordering again. I won't be spending my money on delivery charges and even tips. Waste of money it was such a terrible order.

We ordered 2 bento boxes. We normally order a la carte sushi from you but thought we would try the bento boxes. The quality was awful. Tiny rolls (there were only 4) that fell apart, very tiny piece of teriyaki salmon, cucumber salad was just slices of plain cucumbers (I added rice vinegar, myself). Food courts offer better bento boxes than this. I miss pre-pandemic What The Fish quality. You’ve now lost a customer. 😥
