On our first night in LA, we stumbled upon this Michelin Star Mexican restaurant, and it was a delicious find. Among all the dishes I tried during my LA stay, this ranked among the best. The Metro made for a quick commute from downtown LA. Plus, post-meal, Little Tokyo's vibrant bars are just a short stroll away.
Atmosphere is spacious. Not feeling very close others at the next table. Very chill vibe. Great staff & was very friendly and attentive. My sweet shrimp plate was delicious!!! Hey they compliment you too. They loved my shoes!😁😄😄
This has been my favorite Mexican place in LA for years. And it is closing on May 31, the end of this month. It is an amazing space, beautifully designed in the worst part of downtown LA (unfortunately, one of the reasons they're closing). The design and decor of the restaurant is super dope. The space is open and beautiful. The service is always top shelf. I've never come and had an issue. The bartenders are fun and have a lot of charisma, happy hours are the best. Their drinks are tasty and have a kick. The servers are knowledgeable of the menu and friendly and very personable and I'm going to really miss this place. The food... the food is unbelievable. Full of flavor. Just the right amount of bougie taste mixed with good old fashioned Mexican food. The tablitas which is for 2 is what my daughter and I usually order. She ordered it for herself tonight. The special was a ribeye and it was perfect. They calabacitas make me want to go home and try to cook them myself, they're so tasty. My friend and mom loved their fish tacos (couldn't even get a pic of them) and the churro ice cream is my daughter's favorite dessert. Everything I've tried there is great. Guacamole. Beef tacos for appetizers. They are known for their pork tacos and my friends love them. If you can get there before they close, check them out. Make a reservation. Otherwise, they have 2 sister restaurants, Mercado and another one on Pasadena I do not know the name of. But it's on Mercado's site. Yxta, we love you! You will be missed! I pray you open up somewhere else. You have the best staff and best manager, and I pray they are taken care of once this is gone. Thank you for food times, good memories and good food!
Excellent margaritas and tacos. The service was very friendly at the bar. The bartender was quick with refills, but not overbearing. It’s location on Skid Row was a negative, but take a Lyft or Uber and it will be well worth it!
One of the best pozoles I’ve ever had. With the most tender pork bits yet firm hominy, I ordered myself two bowls. Pozole is only available on Saturdays for 8$! It’s a small bowl but that’s why I got two. Sooooo good. The right amount of spice and savory. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 the staff is so friendly here! I felt right at home. After coming here again but for more!!! I was especially impressed. Everything here is delicious. Expensive but OH SO worth it!!!
Great food and excellent service. They had really tasty mocktails. The neighborhood isn't the best but the inside is great.
Food is delicious! The prices are worth the taste! $30 for carne asada but very tasty. Love the fact the have black corn tortillas. Agua frescas too. Melon con mango! Hard to believe it's near Skidrow. Revisited today and had the Chile Relleno. So delicious. Robert Luna was there too. New sheriff in town. Great atmosphere in the heart of Skidrow.
One of my favorite spots in LA! I have tried all the menu and all is delicious! Make sure to order the Flan is so good!
This time I tried the: TACOS DORADOS DE CAMARÓN Jalisco-style crispy shrimp tacos, salsa mojada, avocado. Perfectly cooked! Yummy! Tacos de camarón and a Mezcalindo. Both tasted amazing Bartender was super friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the trip to DTLA! MEZCALINDO sombra mezcal, tamarindo, lime juice, cucumber, sal de gusano rim. Just a touch of spicy Smokey. Ahhhhh! I looked up gusano!!! Never look up something you already really really like!
First time here. Stopped in for a quick bite before a concert and it did not disappoint. Parking can be a challenge but you can valet. I was there just prior to end of work rush hour. Might be good to call for reservation. Once in, place passes the eye ball test. Clean, organized and staff is taking care of you. Nice drink and bar selection. Top shelf stuff is 🔥. Happy hour is a big hit. Food and drink specials are legit and tasty. I will be back.
I had the Ceviche and a few spirits. The atmosphere was great and the bartender Ami was very knowledgeable in his craft.
I love this place! The ambience is very nice and modern. Food is delicious, I don't think I've ever had Mexican food this good! I'll definitely come back here with friends and family. An easy recommendation!
We had blessed time during our visit Chris was amazing server with knowledge & friendly ,we like the fish plate & shrimp plate & our favorite spicy cucumber margarita definitely I recommend this restaurant.

Food here is delicious. A must try. Service was excellent too.
One of the cooked salmon's I've ever had. The outside was perfectly crispy and the inside moist and tender. A must stop by.
Enjoy a very Lovely time out on the Patio celebrating my Nephews Birthday! Food was excellent, Service was Superb, and we All left Happy!!
Love this place very friendly staff delicious food and cocktails never disappointed prices are responsible great any time of day salmon was cooked to perfection and is big enough to share. great portions very flavorful and lovely plating ..👌👍
The food and drinks were spot on! The tables for social distancing made me feel safe while eating.
Amazing food! The complimentary Tortilla chips are amazing. The waitress was so lovely and very helpful to help me decide.
The most delicious cocina and tortillera restaurant outside of mi abelitas casa.
So good. Guacamole was perfect. We had the steak (carne asada), comes with corn and calabasitas (zucchini) Delicious 😋
great food, not be decieved by the neighborhood surrounding it. all three dessert choices were the hands down bed desserts I've had in years.
Great presentation, quality, and taste of food. I would definitely come back again. Little bit expensive but worth it.
Delicious food and great service. We especially loved our agua frescas with tequila, the guacamole, and the flan.
Tasty, quality food and drinks. Great service!
The happy hr is just great , but I’m always here for the carnitas nachos and the yxta margarita , 10/10 🥵🔥
Best Mexican food in socal. Pictured is the fish tacos! Its a bit expensive, but worth every damn penny.
I’m absolutely in love with their services! Definitely I good restaurant.
Beautiful place. Food was excellent as well as the cocktails. We will definitely come back
A little pricey but great atmosphere and delicious food!
Came in for dinner on Saturday night and ate at the bar. We got two apps and shared an entree. Everything was well prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. The bar service was very good and attentive. The restaurant is well designed and elegant with tasteful music. My bf enjoyed the mezcal cocktail and it was amazing. They have excellent beer on tap as well. If you haven’t been here, yet - WHY NOT?!
I have been to Mexico at least 20 times, and the food here is the real deal. It is unbelievably fresh and authentic. The handmade flour and corn tortillas are exceptional, and what's even better is that these handmade tortillas, are what's used for the tortilla chips. The only downside was that the service wasn't attentive ( never brought a drink that was ordered and never refilled water or checked up after the food was delivered). I would however return for the culinary delight
This place is amazing! We are tourists, staying at the Intercontinental. We have a local friend who suggested this place and it didn't disappoint. The food and drink were delightful, but the service was incredible. Everyone, from the host to buss person were lovely and helpful with great suggestions. Portions are large. We took a lot home. Tip, if you are a tourist, you could walk from the hotel, but DON'T. You go through skid row. Not good. Cab or ride share always, but the restaurant itself is beautiful.
Great place and atmosphere. My waitress Francesca, was very warm and inviting. She had a lot of knowledge about the menu and drinks. It was strange going through Skid Row to get to the restaurant. Felt unsafe at times and scary. But it’s not impossible. I had the enchiladas. They were pretty good but lacking the extra zing I was looking for. The food presentation is beautiful tho. I had one of the weekly special margaritas. It looked pretty but didn’t taste much alcohol. The only downside. The architecture and overall style of the restaurant is rustic and sleek. Very elegant in its own way. I’d come back.
Good service. Not standard fare. Food is creative but not crazy. They do things their own way here - and well. You won’t find much if any mouth burning overly hot dishes either. Best thing I ordered was flan. It looks like regular old flan, but was WAY better. I have no idea how they did that. Either they’ve got the magic secret or everyone else is doing it wrong.
Was here today and pretty much impressed! Everything was great, food is super delicious and fresh, drinks and appetizers were served maybe 3 min after they were ordered, the main dish - around 10-15 min after, and our waitress (don't remember her name but she works mostly in their Hollywood location) was extremely professional, helpful and fun. Very glad we went there. A bit expensive but it worth it. Recommend for having a dinner here for sure (all of us were full so we could barely walk). Bravo!
Our food and service were out of this world. We had mango margaritas, guacamole, ceviche, fish tacos and the Mahi Mahi special. I almost licked the plate. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. $7 self park in their lot.
Yxta Cocina checks all the boxes! It’s located in the Lucky corner shopping center, valet is around 4$4-$5. Their food Is amazing, everything on their menu looks incredible, it’s well seasoned, well proportioned and presented with style! When we got there we were seated right away during happy hour which tends to be 4-7 Tuesday through Saturday! Can’t wait to come back! 🌯
I am a big fan of Mercado and I had a lunch meeting in the downtown area so I decided to try here. Menu was very similar to Mercado and the food is always delicious, if you’re a fan of high-end Mexican cuisine I highly recommend this restaurant.
delicious guacamole and amazing food. our service was very slow and we had to constantly ask for tortillas (that came with our meals) and for our drinks. also can be a little pricey... HINT never go on Cinco de Mayo.
Potato tacos were okay but the ceviche and avocado were on point! Went on a Saturday night. The place is dimmed and would be a good place for a date or dinner with friends Would come back to try the other items!
Bring cash for Valet parking ! Was here for Happy hour, great menu and service. I had an order of the Carnitas tacos with Guacamole and an order of Gringas tacos. Carnitas was well packed tacos like a hefty amount of meat which isnt bad at all, loved them, they did not taste old really fresh. Also had a side order of Guacamole, and that too was great, just needed a little salt but simple yet amazing. I also had a specialty drink, which was very refreshing to me. It was a Mandarin with mint and Basil, topped with some Tequila Reposado. First time here and wont be my only time. See you soon
Tortillas de mais morado and the best mixed fresh fruit juices! Shrimp meal was delicious! Flan to share for my birthday !
Good spot for downtown..parking in their private lot w valets is very nice for Central Ave industrial area. Food is fresh and good.
Delicious Mexican food and good service.
The food here is really good. The only thing I've tried that I really didn't like was there guacamole because they're so many onions. I'm not an onion fan so to me that was a big turn off but everything else is fantastic. It's right on the edge of skid row and they secure shopping plaza but with plenty of parking there every time I've been they still charge you $6 to Self Park.
This is a wonderful Mexican Restaurant with a really high quality atmosphere and food that matches. The food is a little on the pricey end, but it is worth it. The guacamole was really fresh and paired well with the chips and salsa. I ordered the mole enchiladas and made it vegetarian by substituting the chicken for cheese. The sauce was really sweet, which was unusual for me and why I'm not giving it 5 stars. Also, a warning that there is only valet parking here, which costs $5.
Good place, it's on the edge of skid row. So there's today.Service was mostly good, it was pretty loud in there and hard to hold a conversation. You have to pay for parking: $4 for dinner. Not bad for downtown LA. But I had enchiladas with mole. Really good. The guacamole was even better. The blood Orange margarita was pretty strong.
Happy Hour drinks are a little pricey but taste good. They’re not watered down. The food was great, but small servings. I paid $20 for carne rice and beans and the portions were tiny. I was a little upset and disappointed in that. Then, we were rushed along for the next reservation that was coming.
