Asa Restaurant is highly praised for its excellent service, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food, particularly seafood dishes like trout, scallops, and halibut. Some found the paella and certain appetizers less impressive, and parking can be challenging.

Opinions de Asa Los Gatos
A truly memorable dining experience worth coming back for. Parking can be a bit challenging because the area gets very busy, so reservations are highly recommended. Inside, the atmosphere feels refined yet welcoming, and every staff member we interacted with was genuinely friendly and attentive. We started with the Classic Caesar, and the freshness of the lettuce was outstanding. The subtle hint of anchovy added a beautiful depth of flavor. The Carbonara was another highlight — the crispy pancetta and generous shaving of Parmigiano Reggiano were a perfect match. It’s a simple, classic dish, but they execute it with a level of skill that’s not easy to replicate. The Bone-in Pork Milanese was exceptional. The pork was incredibly tender, and the coating was thin and perfectly crisp, creating a wonderful contrast in texture. ASA is absolutely a place I want to revisit, and I can’t wait to try more dishes on their menu. Highly recommend!
We had the most magical evening dining at Asa Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely service team that made us feel right at home. The dining experience was impressively tasteful, with each detail thoughtfully curated to enhance our evening. At times, out of respect for our newly met friends, I refrained from taking out my phone to snap photos of the food, which is something I usually do. However, when the second course arrived, I couldn’t resist capturing the delightful meals we were enjoying. We even wondered aloud if Asa might be a Michelin-starred restaurant that we hadn’t heard of, given the exceptional quality of the dishes. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the truffle mushroom slice (though I couldn’t recall the exact description and unfortunately didn’t get a photo). It was incredibly fresh and bursting with umami flavor. For my main course, I opted for the sustainable tuna, which I requested to be cooked well-done. It was prepared just the way I like it—flaky and flavorful. I typically don’t enjoy dishes that are overly sauced, as some meals simply don’t pair well with their accompaniments. However, Asa’s head chef and the team managed to present everything beautifully, with flavors that danced harmoniously on the plate. Another standout dish was the double-cut pork chop, which was nothing short of insane! It was juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. Now, whenever we crave a delectable pork chop, Asa in Los Gatos will be our go-to destination. 🍷🍷🍷 Overall, our experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and we can’t wait to return! 👍😋😊
Service was impeccable, food was amazing as well as drinks. Our server Yamila stood out, she was knowledgeable, punctual, sweet and honest. Gave great opinions, and choices/recommended. Prices are a little bit up there, but if the service is delivered with such exceptional food, it is worth it.
The service was first-class. This Christmas, it brought us a wonderful sense of warmth, and the food was exceptional. Highly recommended.
Drinks and main courses were great. Blood orange cosmo was yummm! Halibut and scallops were made to perfection. The appetizer and salads we tried were not so special. The anchovies on baguette were salty and too creamy. The salad had too much dressing Parking is shared with the hotel and can be challenging on popular weekends.
Lovely restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere and the dishes were so good. Like really good. It might be a little bit overpriced (thinking particularly for the crab pasta). But both my husband and I loved the food. For dessert I took the pecan rum cake, it was perfect. For a date night I highly recommend it.
Outstanding food and service. My first time will definitely be back. Delicious oysters to start with. Trout, Scallops and Halibut were all perfectly cooked and so delicious. Wow. We had the chocolate bomb for dessert and it was delicious, not too sweet and great with the raspberry sauce. Nice outdoor seating as well.
Came in on a Friday afternoon for dinner and was very happy with everything. The service was absolutely wonderful! Our waiter gave us recommendations for appetizers, main courses, and wine. He was very knowledgeable! The clams and trout were my favorite dishes. Look forward to trying more items on the menu.
ASA Restaurant in Los Altos Hills, California, offers an unpretentious yet gratifying gastronomic experience. Perfect for a relaxed dinner with good friends, its pleasant atmosphere and simple design create a perfect setting to enjoy its delicious food and excellent selection of wines. The service is impeccable, and I can’t help but recommend their anchovy bread, one of the best I’ve tasted, with an exceptional balance of flavors, and their clams are delicious. Without a doubt, a place I will return to soon.
Exquisite. Fresh ingredients prepared perfectly and plated beautifully. Had a refreshing rosé and started the dinner with fresh mozzarella and ricotta drizzled in olive oil and basil with a baguette on the side. Then we enjoyed croquettes in an amazing spicy tangy sauce. And topped it off with garlic shrimp. For the main course we had to go with the New York steak with organic broccoli and roasted potatoes. The service we received was excellent and the dining experience was lovely. A must try in the bay area!!
They were able to accommodate a large party with same-day reservation. The service and food was top tier. Our server made excellent wine recommendations. The paella was the best I’ve ever had. Two men in the party had the pork chop. It looked divine and they said it was (see photo). I can’t wait to go back.

Had a great dinner. Service was on point. Loved the anchovie bread appetizer, the duck for a main. The dessert was kind of disappointing. Lemon lavender cake was just a cupcake; depth of flavor was just not present for me. Others in my party had a nice pistachio/rum ice cream.

Came for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away with no issues. The restaurant was definitely busy which is always a good sign in my book. Parking as some have said is tricky as they share the parking lot with the Best Western Hotel. Although signs say hotel parking only, it’s OK to park there. Started out with apps (truffle fries, burata and tomato soup special). All were excellent except soup which didn’t have much flavor. Our waiter was nice enough to comp it which was a nice touch. Out mains were halibut x2 and the Ahi Tuna. The halibut was amazing and the tuna wasn’t too far behind. Highly recommend either. Our waiter, Jose was attentive and provided great service. There had been posts about slow service, but all our dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time and hot. No issues at all. Net/net we had a really nice experience, good service and excellent food. We will definitely be back!!!
Had a fantastic experience. The food is very good. I am picky with my steak and was impressed. Portions and prices are better than expected as well. (Dinner for 2 might run you $140-$220) Had a billing concern and Andrew was incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive in helping me to resolve it. I will be going back happily.
Brilliant experience!! Chef Vu has created a beautiful menu. He delivered our delicious shrimp in creamy sauce with baguette followed by the always perfect Blue Romaine salad finally the perfectly cooked steak! Delightful non-alcoholic creation by Ron!!
Loved the food. Everything was delicious!!! Even as a vegetarian, I found plenty of great options. The staff was wonderful and the service was excellent. I usually hate tipping, but this time every penny felt worth it. Glad we picked this restaurant for our anniversary dinner

We eat at Asa at least weekly, and there's a reason we keep coming back! Owner Andrew and managing partner Sara are fantastic, and the entire staff is always so welcoming and thoughtful. The food is consistent and done well, with attention to detail in every dish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for regular dining. It's clear why the Michelin Guide recognized this incredible restaurant! I can't say enough good things about Asa.
ASA is a Michelin guide recommended restaurant with cozy romantic vibes throughout. Food was delicious and they were able to accommodate dietary restrictions such as pescatarian, alcohol free and gluten free. Highly recommend their scallops and seafood dishes as that is what I ordered whereas the rest of the table enjoyed their meat dishes.
We opted for ASA on New Year's Eve, impressed by impeccable service from start to finish. While the extensive menu offered a variety, the food, unfortunately, didn't reach stellar heights but tasty nonetheless. Despite the generous portions, my usual favorite at any restaurant, truffle fries, fell short, lacking the expected truffle seasoning. The pork chop, on the other hand, was colossal, providing leftovers for two meals. ASA's cozy ambience remains a favorite for gatherings with friends, date nights, or family outings. And the cocktails are delicious!
Quite a lovely place and enjoyable fusion Spanish cuisine. Ordered a papa pork chop but rather too overly cooked at certain part of the chop. Too dry to my liking but near bone area was perfectly done. Great flavour with good seasoning. Ordered the pasta and is very unique in taste : name called angry pasta! The uniquely prepared paella and very appetising. The Columbia oyster are good, love the size and brininess. You can’t miss Jamon when you come to Spanish place too! Good wine selection and enjoyable dinner!

Wonderful atmosphere with food that was good, but not stellar. 3.75 stars Food: 3.5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 2.5 (app/starters $20-26, ~$40 pastas) Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: sure Highlights - Atmosphere: fun sexy sheik environment with an energetic vibe was my favorite part of this place. Inside split into bar area and dining room and a covered outdoor patio as well. - Menu: little bit of everything and part Spanish, part French, part Italian which I appreciate doesn't follow the standard mold of the same items many restaurants have - Mushroom pasta: signature dish with rigatoni type tubes coated in a delectable silky sauce reminiscent of Marsala or cognac. Only con is the price at $38 seems steep. 4.25 stars - Delica squash: fresh squash with a delightful cashew puree and brown butter pomegranate sauce elements. Beautifully plated stacked. One of the surprise stars of the night. 4.25 stars - Shrimp: great size of shrimp and amount (6), perfect cook, but surprisingly needed more flavor in the seasoning and sauce. 3.75 stars Midlights: - No champagne by the glass Lowlights: - Crab pasta special: spaghetti with small bits of shredded crab in a tomato sauce overwhelmed it. I was so excited to see this being crab season here, but was disappointed. 2.5 stars - Random location: in a Best Western parking lot across the freeway in a remote area not in downtown. We have a few drink spots we like to hit up downtown before we go to dinner that are walkable so this isn't optimal. Enjoyed my night here and would like to try a few more food items to see how those are.
Great food and atmosphere. The steak was awesome and ribs a hit. The paella was okay — would not recommend. But overall the food was good. The service? Not so good. Waitress rushed us. Constantly interrupted us when we were talking — not even an “excuse me” — she would just launch into it. And how about a smile from time to time? I observed others — and the servers all seemed friendly - so she was an outlier. She needs training. And when I paid, didn’t even look me in the eye — she thanked my guest. If the food wasn’t so good, she would have ruined the experience
Overcooked steak and ZERO accountability My family had dinner here a few days ago. The atmosphere was great. All pointed to a good night, until it’s not. I ordered my steak medium rare - but what I got was clearly medium well. I wasn’t planning to complain, but the server came over with a practiced smile asking how everything was. I simply asked whether she put in the order as “medium rare”, and she said she had. I pointed out the doneness was way off, and instead of acknowledging it, she snapped, “But you’ve already eaten a lot of it!” For the record, the steak came pre-sliced—I had one piece, gave another to my son. That’s it. I told her I just wanted to point out the mistake, not looking for anything. She went away and i didn’t give it much thought. A few minutes later, the manager came over. She said she was told there was an issue. Although she apologized, but she really didn’t. “Well, you’ve already eaten some, so what exactly do you want?” I said I just wanted to understand how they define medium rare here. The response? “Next time we’ll make it rare for you.” There won’t be a next time. — See photo attached. The bottom one is fine. The top one was supposed to be medium rare as well. I’ve seen some photo posted by others. Some steak looked really good. Unfortunately, not the one I got.
