Opinions de Shiroi Sushi Los Gatos
The freshest sushi, outstanding and friendly service. Ambience is clean, fairly small, usually sports are playing discreetly on mute. Lots of happy customers.
A quick sit in and a takeaway. Really delicious.
So glad I found this place. Very interesting dishes instead of just the usual rolls. Hamachi carpaccio is my favorite. Bright modern space. Great service. Mochi with whipped cream:yum!
Best sushi in Los Gatos. The sashimi is always fresh. Love the toro sashimi, sake, crunchy rice, Los Gatos roll, ikura, grated wasabi etc. Friendly staff make you feel special and they even have a few TVs with live sports. I’ve been coming here for years now and wish I found it sooner. The bad reviews are from people who want quantity over quality. If that’s what you want, go to an all you can eat sushi place. The prices here are very reasonable for Los Gatos and the food is high quality.
Shiroi Sushi is an excellent sushi restaurant that provides friendly service, consistently good food, and reasonable prices. The staff is friendly which enhances the overall dining experience. Consistency is key, and it is reassuring to know that you can expect high-quality sushi each time you visit. I find the prices at Shiroi Sushi to be reasonable as well. Definitely a good place to go!
The... Best... Service of all time. My drinks were never empty. Empty plates were taken quickly and with the most polite, "Pardon my reach." The food was equally excellent. My Lion King roll didn't stay together very well, but that didn't detract from the excellent taste. The edamame was salted in layers and cooked perfectly. The presentation was just as appetizing as the food itself. I don't give them 5 stars lightly. They earned every star AND a fat tip. We'll be returning and recommending Shiroi Sushi.
This restaurant is tiny and packs in people nightly. The food, the sushi rolls are delicious! The staff are so friendly too! They’ve always got the featured b-ball or football game on to watch while you indulge. Thanks Shiroi you make the experience worth it every time!
Love this sushi spot! It’s quaint with great service and delicious food. I’ve been coming here for over a year and have never had a bad experience. The sushi is always fresh, service is always prompt and friendly. Would recommend Sofia’s special roll!
All around delicious! Crispy rice was to die for! I will be back! A bit on the mid-high rate for sushi rolls but totally worth it! Well proportioned and big menu!
My understanding is this used to be a local french restaurant, but is now a small sushi place. It was nearby where I was staying and I was pressed for time so decided to give it a shot. Turned out to be a great choice and the sushi was excellent. I generally have pretty high expectations for any sushi place in California and they didn't disappoint. Prices are a little high as you'd expect in this area, but service was quick and efficient. There are a lot of other restaurants crowded into this mall so parking can be a bit difficult during the most popular times. But I don't think you'll be disappointed coming here.
Had a really great lunch here. Food is reasonably priced, service was friendly, sushi tasted great. Would definitely recommend
Second time here, same great experience. The sashimi is excellent and they packed the to go stuff so well I could carry it on a motorcycle with no spilling :) Oh and I rarely see scallops being served in sashimi combo. Excellent!
Great food and very clean. The service is so so nice, they are always very aware even if the place is packed. For lunch it usually gets very crowded but for dinner is a quite and zen place. Please don’t go so I can enjoy it more!
Excellent menu options with really tasty fish and miso soup. The wait staff was so nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend. The 49er roll, Netflix roll (pictures) and Barracuda roll (eaten before pictured) were my favorite.
Very tasty. Fresh fish and elegant presentation. They have a wide variety of Sushi and Shashimi and if you are going here it's probably because you like Sushi. If there are a few people in your party that aren't fans they do have some other classic dishes. The one I tried was very good, but as a Sushi lover, I had to save room for the fish. I would absolutely go here again.
Good small Japanese restaurant with tasty food. A bit pricey but the fish and rolls are really fresh and service is nice and friendly.

Comfortable dine-in + Beautiful food! Definitely a neighborhood go-to! I ordered handrolls in soy paper. . Delicious!
Love this restaurant- they have the freshest fish! My whole family loves this place.
I can’t believe I didn’t find this place sooner. They have delicious, high quality food at a reasonable price and the atmosphere is perfect- clean, modern, intimate. Our server was lovely. Make sure you have time though since everything here is made to order and, when I was there, there is only one server. It’s worth the moderate wait!
Wonderful little sushi place, nice staff, excellent fare, meticulously prepared. A little pricey but this is to be expected given that it is fresh seafood. The quality and portion sizes definitely more than justify the price as does the service. I lived within walking distance for a year and a half, and prior to Great Pandemic, this place was always packed. I still work within walking distance, making this the perfect spot for picking up and bringing home. My only place for sushi now.
Shiroi’s chef, David is amazing. Being a good sushi chef is not just about the art of making it, it is about the freshness amd quality of fish. We’ve been there countless times over the past 10 years, and the quality of the fish and freshness has been uncannily consistent. The preparation and creativity is excellent. So if you are looking for a goto sushi place in the San Jose area, there is no finer choice. Thank you David!!!
It all starts with the fish and the fish here is fantastic. The place is small (super cozy, friendly, clean) and has a very friendly/family feel to it. I like to sit at the bar and enjoy the fish the sushi chef recommends. There aren’t a lot of sushi places in the LG area I’ve found that I love. This one…aces.
From an Arizona resident visiting Campbell. Great service. Excellent food. My tuna Sashimi was on point. Extra thick slices and extremely fresh. I could the difference immediately. Soo good. Ill be back the next time im in town.
The best sushi in town! Great service and Dave does a fantastic job running the place. Great TVs and always superb atmosphere!
The environment was relaxing and clean. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly.

We like the Hamachi carpaccio here. They have a large variety of rolls here. Everything is delicious. Glad to see they have reopened limited seating indoors and outdoors. I ordered takeout and waited much longer than expected.
We went for lunch during the week. I really appreciated that they give a bowl of miso soup as soon as you sit down. Kinda pricey, but reasonable for Los Gatos. The decor is clean and modern, sort of industrial.
Food was delicious. Services started off a little slow as they were just opening but improved once they got into motion.
I was inviting by my friend for dinner with his son. Sadly we walk in and the first greeting duration our walked was "we are closing in 5 minutes" not even a Hi or Good evening. Well, well, well I cannot be selfish and I will say the food was delicious...! And one of the lady who helped us until the end of our dinner she was adorable, adorable kinder. So for those reasons I will give you guys ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice little place on S. Winchester. First time here and I would come back. Menu is traditional, but not the stereotypical "bento box" delivery. You actually get food on a plate!!! In short, good food, attentive service, and small / intimate location, so no large and loud dining room. My kind of place.
David and staff are great. Food was great as well. It’s too bad that the new ownership doesn’t understand why people become regulars at restaurants. It’s the food/atmosphere. We’ve been going to Shiroi since way before Covid. We went tonight and it was terrible. New ownership is absolutely garbage. I almost left before we started because there wasn’t the football game on TV. Apparently the new ownership is cutting costs. Apparently they are okay with cutting customers as well the place was almost empty on a Thursday night at 7:30. As a family that will no longer be spending between $700-$1500 a month in this restaurant I feel bad for David, Sara and the rest of the staff. Looks like we need to find a new spot that’s not run by incompetent owners. ***** update. Things have definitely gone almost back to normal. Great food. Great people.
Quality wise sushi were ok. But quite pricey. Service was kind of ok. We ordered bento box for kids and rolls and nigiri for us. I expected them to bring everything at the same time, but they brought sushi and rolls first. So by the time the bento box arrived hungry kids are half of our sushi.
This is the Panda Express for Japanese, except it looks more upscale and sophisticated. The quality is fast food Japanese. The taste is not fresh but looks good and the restaurant itself is neat and clean. The Sushi chef told me there is nothing gluten free and that gluten free soy sauce tastes bad. He is rude and unfriendly. I ordered miso soup for my son and beef teriyaki for my Aunt who said it tasted fatty and poor quality meat. The California rolls were tasteless and boring. I was going to order more authentic Japanese , sushi, etc but I was afraidto after the sushi chef gave me a weird vibe.. so we went for something really basic.. I came in when it was busy at lunch and waited for a to go order. No one offered me anything to drink or a place to sit. It's basically a little lower class restaurnat than I'm use to . They are imposters!
Poor customer service - stood outside for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement. I decided to put on my mask and go inside to ask if they will be able to serve us tonight. Instead of a No or Yes I got yelled at by a guy behind the counter that I need to wait outside and be patient and they will come to me when they are ready. The place was not busy at all but regardless of how busy they are they should not yell at the customers. If they can't serve then simply say no. Needless to say I will not go there again.
Ordered.a $20 bowl of veggie upon. Received a bland bowl of skimpy veggie broth, with little vegetables. Small handful of tiny broccoli, carrots, onion, seaweed, and that's all. The best part was the salad. I will not be returning
Didn’t get to try their food unfortunately but either their customer service or their store hours information could be improved: - Called at 8:30p to make a take order, they didn’t pick up. - Went in at 8:40p to make the order in person… chef tells me they’re closed… all the fish still out. - 10min later the chef walks out for a smoke break. - 9pm is when they supposedly close. I get it, I’ve had long days too, but either be clear on your marketing or offer the service you claim to.
The food was delicious. However, I will not be coming back to this restaurant. Here is a short summary before the long review: the food is good, but the service is bad. The atmosphere feels chaotic like a fast-food place, and the food is not good enough to make up for it. The female server made the entire dining experience feel stressful and disorganized. Even though we ordered sushi, she gave us soy sauce dishes only after a long time. When our order was not properly taken and we ended up waiting for a long time, she did not apologize or acknowledge the situation at all. Service and basic courtesy were either missing or extremely slow, but the bill was brought to us faster than at any other restaurant. The food itself was good, and the male chef quietly focused on cooking, but the server completely ruined the value of the experience.
As a semi regular, I previously gave Shiroi 5 stars (which I now deleted). Unfortunately, our most recent experience was so bad, I came to the reviews to see what's changed. We walked in and there were no familiar faces, the entire staff was new. The sushi chefs were impersonal, no recommendations or acknowledgement. They had only one server working and she was clearly overwhelmed with all the tables. (Eventually a couple came from the back to 'help' at the end of our meal. We assumed new owners/managers). Food service was always on the shower side here, but now it was ridiculously slow. The food quality and portion sizes aren't as good. Our Katsu order was cold, tempura app was much smaller and also cold & oily. The sushi/sashimi had much thinner slices of fish and the proportion of fish to rice wasn't like anything we've experienced here before. The interior decor is the same, which we've always liked, but nothing else is. New menu prices, new staff, new pos (use to have hand-written order taking, now they are using a hand held tablet), which was painfully slower because she had to scroll and scroll to find each item we ordered, she wasn't well versed on the system based on the hunt and peck. Plus, it certainly didn't make her more efficient because our food still came out in odd order and often cold. So, I agree with the more recent reviews, we missed the old crew. I'm bummed to say, after this most recent dining experience, we all walked out saying we'd likely never return. In all regards, it's not worth the price.

Poor customer service. Didn't provide any tableware or plates for my kid. In most of the time, the staff just disappeared therefore we even didn't get any chance to ask for those. Price is too high for such level of service. Will never come back.
Food is generally good but the service is terrible.. staff is rude and unhelpful. Thus has occurred on more than 1 occasion.
Terrible experience. Had to wait. When we had a table. It took forever. Then the worst part is at the end. I paid for a $61.00 meal. I left a tip in cash and as i left she stopped me and told me to come here. Yelled at me in front of customers outside about the tip not being big enough. Then repeated saying "come on come on what are you doin?" Honestly that place was packed but no excuse. We will never come here again. Terrible customer service. Learn how to talk to people. And thanks for ending my day with your terrible attitude.
We had to wait for 50min to get our food, only after complaining about the wait. And when I complained, the waitress simply suggested that we should simply walk out! Well my son was hungry, and it was already 8:30pm …. Will never go back again.
I have been with my four kids to celebrate. After we eat she brought the receipt. I signed and gave how I feel the service was. Water never really got filled up. My plate came first and I was done when the other got something to eat. And so on 12 percent is enough for such service. On the neighbor table it was couple minutes before a big issue. As we wanted to leave she shouted very unfriendly at us 18 percent for 5 people is the rule. Through the receipt at us and didn’t let us go. Unbelievable unfriendly staff. For us definitely a no go again even we are in walking distance to them.
Sushi was warm and tasted sour, the waiter insulted my disabled child and made rude comments about his facial deformities. Extremely disappointed and will never be coming back.
Well for one I am a very generous person when it comes to leaving a tip for the waiter/waitress if I feel that they were outstanding with providing me with great service. The service was OK!! but the one star is for the guy chasing me out to the parking lot telling me I am not welcome in the restaurant anymore simply because I didn’t leave a tip. You don’t have to ask me twice to find another sushi place to go to because there are plenty that are much better, if you must know
Decided to give it a try, asked if they had lunch specials and we picked two. Came in to find the standard Korean run Japanese restaurant. Saw the specials come out and they were simple and small (California rolls are imitation crab and avocado, no cucumber) which wouldn’t have been bad if they weren’t $18 a piece. Really expect more that that price point, especially for a special.

The rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced. Went in at about 8:10pm, asked “ Do you have a table for 2?” Mind you , I see a 2 top and 4 top open. The response the rude waitress gave was just a flat “NO” waving me off with her hand. I turned around and left. I liked their food, but I will never return. At least not while she still works there.
My kid was in tear right in front of me because after an hour wait, finally getting a sit, the rude waiter refused to take our order. We are the only two Asian customers in the restaurant. We ordered Unagi Sushi and a large beer. The rude waiter said we have to order more and asked us to leave the store. After my boy burst into tears and then every Caucasian customer starts paying attention to the side table we sit, I got to talk to the boss who was behind the bar the whole time and explained what happened. Finally our order was taken. I would never come back to this store again. The first time I felt so left out after being in the States for 15 years was in this Japanese restaurant. I felt sorry for my boy. I was so embarrassed when he asked me why she ignored us but helped another family that came after us. I don’t know how to explain. If you have children, make wise decisions before you step in this place.
If I can score a negative star on this place I would. The service in this place is extremely sad and disheartening. I feel sorry for the people who work here. The food is good but decided to give it a poor score because of the service. I come by to get a couple items and the lady who attended me had a face like she has a stick up her you know what. So sad for her.
Crazy lady ran out to our car after us after she forgot to add a $3 Miso soup to our bill. She accused us of not paying the whole bill. Very rude service, wouldn't even acknowledge us when we said thank you for the meal. Would NEVER EVER come back to this place. I should have taken back my tip.
