Cash Only but good food and service. Found this little restaurant on our coastal vacation last summer. Yumm

La Casita is a cozy Mexican restaurant! The chips were warm and served with salsa...tasted so delicious! Our waitress was friendly and gave very good service! I was happy to see that they had a few vegan menu items. I had the street tacos: 1 with potatoes and the other with vegetables. My boys had nachos and a burritos. I also had the kombucha that is made in house...it was great. My son had the horchata and loved it...they sell the Horchata in a to go bag too!The food was fresh! We will definitely return to La Casita!

Cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. I loved the cup they brought the soda in, it’s the little things. Great atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food.

La Casita is our go-to Mexican takeout place here in Los Osos. We exclusively get take out, so I cannot comment on the dine in experience. La Casita has great food at great prices. We like the extensive menu with many options for burritos and fajitas. There is no online ordering system, but the speed in which they answer the phone and make your order makes up for it.

Little Mexican restaurant with big flavors. We had their chili rellenos with rice and beans. Service was excellent. It was a bit noisy, a great place to bring kids. Great value.

This is our go to Mexican food in Los Osos. They have their own unique flavor. Try their new chipotle sauce too. We bought a bottle and loved it. Everything is reasonably priced and they give you large portions. It's not fancy but it's a nice restaurant.

This place is an absolute must if you are in this town. We really enjoyed our meal. It was so nice I went back a second time. After dining in several very expensive restaurants in the area I will have to say reflecting back my favorite meals were there. Excellent food good service and wonderful value.

I have lived on the central coast for 17years this is the best Mexican restaurant here the family that runs it is always a pleasure to see they have never had a bad meal and they are definitely a bargain for the quality they put in every meal. There is no bad item on there menu. I always enjoy the strawberry smoothies straight from the garden. I have never had a better salsa. You will never be disappointed this is truly the best the central coast has to offer.

They have the best traditional Mexican food in the county. During Covid we have avoided going too many places. We finally came back to this great food restaurant. Free salsa and chips that are great. We will be back as regular customers again.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner, served quickly. The bill appeared quickly, with no pressure or rush. Very reasonable prices.

Good seafood enchilada. I also love the free chips and salsa. The chips are thin and don't break your teeth. The menu says they make their own chips!

J
Jonathan Reid

We go here often. They have the best salsa in the county — we sometimes buy it and take it home. We love their enchiladas (particularly Nina’s enchilada and chile relleno combination) and tostadas. Service is prompt and attentive.

The food here was fantastic! I got the chile rellenos covered with Colorado beef and my friend got the shrimp fajitas. The food was delicious, especially the chips and house-made salsa! It came out quickly, the staff was nice. But note, as others have said, CASH ONLY! Thankfully we had cash on us.

This place is a little gem. Food was great, lots of variety on their menu and everything we tried was delicious! Burrito mojado with a chile relleno, tostada w/chile relleno and their extra spicy salsa were all 10/10.

Hands down the best Mexican food ever 😍 had the privilege of eating here for over 15 years and it’s just as amazing as before. The beans and rice are exceptional, all of their drinks are so delicious, and everyone who works there is the sweetest. It’s great how you can get something as simple as a dry burrito or go all out and get a combo plate, and the quality is unmatched no matter what😮‍💨

One of the best Mexican Restaurants in SLO County! I go all the time! They are famous for their homemade salsa and warm chips. Their homemade horchata with mango or strawberry flavor is amazing. You must try their shredded beef enchiladas, Pescado Vera Cruz, The Wet Chile Colorado Burrito…lastly save room for the Flan because it’s the BEST I’ve ever had…and I’ve eaten a lot of Flan in my day so that’s saying something 🙌🏻 It’s creamy, silky smooth with sweet caramel vanilla flavors

Incredible hole in the wall staple in Los Osos all these years since I went to Cal Poly from 2013-2016 and discovered it. Wife and I moved back recently and went back for this place and the chips/salsa are still killer. Their prices at extremely fair/reasonable and the enchilada plate is still as good as I remember it 🔥

Good food at a decent price. Been coming here for years. The Mama's burrito is awesome. Nice place to eat...I keep coming back. Pretty much everything on the menu is good...just pick something and it'll taste good.

I'm so very glad that we found this place. This restaurant is not in the best location, so it is hard to find. I'm guessing that most people that do come here hear about it by word of mouth. That's how I heard about it. I'm glad I did.

This is a great Mexican restaurant. First off…their salsa is fire. So good. I always appreciate good chips and salsa. We had them cater an event we had and everything about Las Casitas is great. Chips…check. Beans…check. Taco shell…check. Meat…yeah. It’s a great place. Easy to work with. Great people.

Food is excellent. I can only rate the shredded beef enchiladas. This is mainly what I ordered here. They also sell a homemade hot sauce. Habanero Reserve that is so good. Awesome people and food.

If you want to eat where the locals do, here's the spot. It appears to be a family ran restaurant that provides good food at reasonable prices. The one knock we had was related to their beef fajitas, which are not served on a sizzling plater, which was okay by us, but the beef itself was overcooked and dry. Maybe we hit them on a bad day, but that dish wasn't our favorite, and next time most likely we will try something different. The carnitas we had was very good though.

B

It is one of those restaurants that is a chain. It has the home town feel and us local go there alot. Can you find more high-end Mexican food? Yes. Food is good and the price is the best.

S

Good family ran restaurant with tasteful food. Service was good and will definitely go again. The only down side is to get to bathroom, you have to walk through the back, where they cut up the food in the open alley.

The food is pretty good. I like the Papa's burrito. It is good size and stuffed with chile relleno. Comes with rice and beans sour cream and guacamole. The burrito has red sauce over the top and cheese. There salsa is very good. The chips are good also and not stale. We eat there at least a few times a month

La Casita is a down home restaurant. The food is very good, always served quickly and hot. Their salsa is superlative! Chips and salsa arrive at your table moments after you sit down. They have excellent vegetarian tamales and tasty tacos. Fantastic burritos. Portions are generous and prices modest.

This is just good Mexican food that tastes homemade. The salsa and different proteins were each flavorful. The prices are totally reasonable.

Cute place and not as busy as I expected for a Friday lunch. I tend to rate based on the salsa. Their salsa was thick and rich with a warm flavor. Chips were warm and fresh. I ordered the papa's burrito filled with chili relleno peppers, rice, beans, and beef. It was more than I could eat but so good. My husband had the chicken quesadilla with rice and beans. Portion sizes were good and all was less than $40 with a lime sparkling water and diet soda.

The interior is nice and cozy. The food is good AND inexpensive. Don't let the exterior and property diswade you from entering. You can do take-out as well. May 8, 2022 we visited again and I had a tropical meal for a change and so glad I did.

I had the carnitas plate. The pork could have been a bit moistier, but it was pretty good overall. The much ballyhooed salsa is not nearly spicy enough for my tastes, but I can see why it plays well to their audience. Portions are big, and booths comfy. Don't go on one of those rare hot days in Los Osos.

Visited the area for a long weekend and had dinner here. Felt like a local place, not touristy, which was nice. Comfortable seating, quiet environment, nice staff, relatively fast service. I’m vegan and was easily able to find options. I had the garden fajitas, super tasty. The guacamole contains sour cream, per the waitress, so they did avocado slices for me instead. It’s possible the refried beans and rice have animal-based ingredients…I didn’t ask! My only complaint was that the side salad was a little lackluster, mostly just iceberg lettuce. But hey, it was a nice addition to my fajitas. Just had a lot of extra iceberg lettuce since it was a large plate of it! My husband had the combo plate with veggie tamale and cheese enchilada and really enjoyed it. Overall, enjoyable dinner option! And surprisingly inexpensive!

Cosy local Mexican restaurant. Generous portions and fun plus-size glassware. I found their "mini" burrito size was perfect for one.

The atmosphere was more casual than expected. We went on a date for an anniversary, expecting a little more ambiance. It's more the kind of place for jeans. The food was ok, but kind of bland. Disappointing for a special date night but fine for a random casual meal. They did accommodate my dairy allergy as requested. I ordered the Chili Colorado.

Recently went here based on recommendations and I was extremely disappointed ordered the carnitas Diablo it was burnt on one side and had no flavor unless you took a bite with of the still dried chili peppers that were thrown on top. The meat was super tough there was no love and care in the way it was cooked. Wife got a burrito which was just ok. Nothing special. How ever the salsa is great the chips were stale and tortillas with my dinner tasted like the cupboard they were stored in. Will probably give them another chance and hope it was a fluke that it was this disappointing.

I was really disappointed with the service at this restaurant. While the food was decent, the overall experience was ruined by the lack of professionalism from the staff. From the start, our waitress greeted us with zero enthusiasm, making it clear she didn’t want to be there. When we asked to sit on the patio, she responded with, “Sure, but I don’t think the tables are clean,"and just stood there, waiting for us to decide instead of checking or cleaning them herself. Once we got our food, the service didn’t improve. One of the plates was made incorrectly, and throughout our meal, no one bothered to check on us or ask if everything was okay. The staff seemed miserable, like they didn’t want to be working there, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Definitely will not be back. The restaurant seriously needs to work on their service.

I was in town for work and I went into the restaurant on Cinco de Mayo, looking forward to an amazing meal. This restaurant was suggested by a couple of people that I worked with. While driving to the restaurant, I prepped myself that since it was Cinco de Mayo there would be a long wait to get into the restaurant or to be seated. I was very happy to notice that not many people were in the restaurant and I was able to be seated right away. I immediately ordered a Michelada with Modelo beer. While waiting for the Michelada, I ordered the Albondigas soup and the red chili plate which included rice and beans. When the Michelada came to the table and I took a sip, I noticed that it just wasn’t right. It seemed like all they did was put the beer and Clamato in a glass. There was no garnish no Tajin on the rim. When the soup came out, it was not bad. Just needed some salt. Then the main dish came out with flour tortillas. I was very excited to try this. First of all, let me say, Mexican food is known for freshness and flavor. This meal did not include any of those. The chili in the meat was bland. The rice was bland. The beans were bland. I had to add salsa to everything to give it freshness and flavor. The chips tasted like they were there a while because they were kind of stale, They do not make their own fresh tortillas. The tortillas seem like they were store-bought. I was very disappointed and then as I was leaving, I realized the only Mexicans in the restaurant were the workers and me. Taco Bell would have been a better meal. I hope they step up their game for the future.

I really wanted to like it based on all the good reviews. I was pretty disappointed unfortunately. We ordered a chicken burrito, a beef burrito. And an enchilada combo, as well as two root beer floats. All to go. When I walked in I asked for a menu to place a to go order. The host gave me a dirty look and handed me a menu covered in old food and wet salsa. Gross. When I was ready to order, a lady asked what I wanted. I told her my order and without ever looking at me, she wrote it down, said “twenty minutes” and walked away. I went outside and came back in twenty minutes and was given the total, which seemed higher than it should be, but I paid and waited for a printed receipt so I could figure out the discrepancy. I was handed a receipt with nothing but the total and when I asked for one with a breakdown he just pointed to where he wanted me to tip. Eventually I was given a receipt with the breakdown and noticed I was charged a $1 “to go” fee for each meal in my order. This was not ever disclosed to me and seems kind of shady. The food was meh. We couldn’t tell the difference between the unmarked burritos until we finally found a piece of chicken in one. We didn’t ever find the beef in the other. The root beer floats consisted of a tiny scoop of ice cream, covered by an entire cup of ICE and then some root beer poured on top. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would put ice in a root beer float, but we ended up spending $8 for two cups of ice covering inaccessible, inedible freezer burnt ice cream. We were given a straw and nothing else with which to attempt to eat it. My kids were very disappointed as this is a treat they don’t often get. Photo is of the “root beer float”, after my child dug out half the ice with his fingers trying to find the ice cream.

Strangest Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. I’m not a fan of the weird shows on the TVs. The food wasn’t very good, the chicken tacos were excessively spicey, it was the most watery sals I’ve ever seen, even the chips were weird, and super thick. I didn’t even bother rating all the food. I left, and went somewhere else.

The food was very bad. The rice was undercooked and meat was burned. We didn’t receive what we ordered based on the menu. And when we brought it up we were told that the cooks send out what they like their own what even if it’s not what the menu says. Not bueno

I only write reviews when a place is especially good or especially bad. Unfortunately, this is the latter. It's pretty apparent that zero care is given by the employees here. We were tossed our menus at the table and the person who gave them to us quickly walked away without asking if we wanted water and did not come back for a while. Not to mention the way one employee was rudely and loudly handling a phone order right next to us. Super awkward. Got the smothered burrito and I believe it was Al Pastor. The meat tasted overwhelmingly of cloves, which is a bizarre and jarring flavor when expecting good Mexican food. Did not want to waste food so I forced it down with hot sauce. After we paid, my friend realized that the receipt showed each item 4 dollars more expensive than the menu did. Looking at another review, apparently this is some sort of credit fee? If so, then it should be a flat fee or percentage, not applied per item. This alone makes it clear they are enforcing some arbitrary rule to rob people. Just change your menu prices and be done with it. Obviously I am never coming back, but if you are currently checking to see if you want to come here, my recommendation is a resounding NO
