Been here a couple times now and had a great experience both times. I really appreciate the vegan options on the pizza and daily soups. This past time we didn't realize until after we were seated that we came at the between hours that they are closed but they didn't say anything and served us anyway because they were staffed. We felt bad that we'd made that mistake and hadn't checked the hours but also very appreciative for the food. Everything was delicious.
I had the BBQ chicken pizza and it was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy while at the same time a bit chewy. Their BBQ sauce was very tasty, and the addition of the red onions and Gouda cheese really hit the spot.
Visiting hudson for the first time we came in a little later than we expected. We seen that this place was still open to grab food. We got there about 7ish and was seated immediately, luckily it wasn't busy. We asked questions and got answers. The pizza was soooooo good and flavorful(Ricardos famous with chicken). We went with a small because it was only 2 of us but it lead me to wanting more. You won't be disappointed.
Super unique sourdough pizza! We split the large margarita and there wasn’t a slice left over. The staff was great! Mary-Kate served us and she was so friendly and gave us great recommendations for things to do around Hudson!
This place is fabulous and delicious. I honestly can't complain about a single thing. The service was great-prompt, polite, professional and the server had good information and suggestions when asked. The food was just as described. The family sized salad is HUGE, enough for at least 6 and up to 10 if each had a small plate. There were three of us, we each had two plate fulls and we are about half of it. The pizza crust was this and crispy but substantial enough to hold its toppings. So good. Will definitely go again.
This place was great. Wasn't able to compare it to other pizza in the area but the pizza was amazing (crust was great) and they sat us shortly before closing. They also will let you do half and half of completely different sets of toppings / pizzas. Also they had an incredible amount of vegetarian options.
I have been there at least 4 times already. I completely love this place. The pizza's are amazing.. My husband and I split apizza so we can try a new flavor each time. The prices are reasonable. Food is amazing. It's so good the we went 2 night in a row. I intend to try every pizza on the menu..
I found this food to be excellent. Thin crust pizza, family style salads, different combinations for the pizza that you would never think of yet are scrumptious! Natural sodas, some local draft beers, wine, no hard liquor. Our young waitress is very knowledgeable and polite. You can look right into the kitchen at the wood fired oven! Worth the visit!
We love Baba Louie’s! The gluten free and dairy free options are amazing. Excellent food and service.
This is my favorite pizza, ever. You just can’t get homemade style pizza made with quality ingredients like this anywhere else. I get the barbecue pizza with the spicy green chili sauce and it’s just 🤌 I literally go out of my way to go here even though I love pretty far out of the way, I’m obsessed.
We eat in or get take out about once a week here and I really can't overstate how fantastic the food always is. The crust, variety in toppings, and the quality of the ingredients all set up complete pizza perfection! Their salads are ridiculously great too!
Baba Louie's gluten free pizza crust is great. Thin, chewy, crispy, and a perfect pairing with their toppings. Delicious gluten free crusts are hard to come by, but they do it well. Having Celiac Disease, and knowing the risks of a shared oven, I have only had a reaction a handful of times out of years of eating here. They are very careful.
This time I dined in. Rebecca was our server and made sure we were well attended to without feeling rushed. I've never seen a server interact so calmly and friendly with people, and I was a server for years. The pizza is incredible. Get 2. Or 3. And apparently the owner raises money for a young child with cancer every year. Who wouldn't want to support a business like this? Added a $10 donation to our bill to help support. I'd suggest you do too! Hats off to everyone there for creating such a wonderful business. We'll be back.
Yummy! Had gluten free pizza and salad dressings and seemed very knowledgeable about avoiding cross contamination. I did not get sick after eating here and I am very sensitive. The pizza was delicious (they also have regular glutenous pizza) and their salads are really delicious. Highly recommend if you're in the area to try their unique pizzas and salads.
Sourdough pizza is the best. The family size salsas are out of this world. We are there twice and it's a family favorite. Must go to restaurant.
We live in NYC. Whenever we visit Hudson, we stop at Baba Louie's for a delicious Margherita pie. The sauce alone is delicious.
My girlfriend and I went here on two nights and we were surprised the owner recognized us on the second night we came back. The staff was very friendly and prompt. The pizzas we had was great; they were thin crust pizzas. It can get crowded for dinner. But the wait wasn't long when we went on both occasions. This is definitely a place we would come back to every time we're in the area.
Cozy dining atmosphere with a very eclectic selection of toppings. There's pepperoni for the normies and capers and goat cheese for the hipsters and everything in between. Gluten free crusts are some of the best I've had. Vegan options are also available. Great salads as well.
Best pizza in perhaps the country. Sad the other locations closed. Love the vegan options.
My family and I had lunch here and were immediately greeted by such a friendly young lady. She was helpful and patient with my grandfather, who speaks slowly and gets confused easily, so we all greatly appreciated that. The food was delicious! I got a BBQ chicken pizza, their sourdough pizza crust is crispy and tasty. The salads are huge! My grandfather ordered a cup of yellow split pea soup to go with his salad, and he said it was the best soup he's had. My great aunt ordered their Reuben sandwich, which was also a decent size portion, and she was very pleased with her entire meal. My mom and step dad shared a spinich and cheese pizza, they were pleased with their meal as well. For 5 of us to eat lunch, it was around $60, so not bad for the portions, quality of food, and excellent service we received! Will definitely be visiting again.
Excellent plant based options. The food is fresh and the service is fantastic. They even have a plant based delicious dessert.
This restaurant was highly recommended by our host during our vacation in the area. The pizza was excellent and also the first time my husband and I had “real” New York Pizza… (we live in Florida). The atmosphere was nice and so were the servers. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a nice relaxing dinner. You could tell that quite a few people in the restaurant were regulars and that also added a nice ambiance.
No trip to Hudson NY is complete without lunch at Baba Louie's! My family had been coming here for years and it has never disappointed. We have only ever had the pizza with various toppings so I can't speak to any other dishes but the pizza is always great. Thin sourdough crust, fresh toppings, and great service.
What a great pizza place. The food is fresh and the salads are amazing. Sabrina and her staff do a fantastic job making you feel welcomed and ensure you have what you need for all diets.
The best pizza salad hands down. Fran just came up 2nd. The staff is great and the vibe is casual. An amazing pizza experience that I look forward to coming back for soon.
Pizza was great! Got the classic margarita, super nice ingredients, thinner crispy crust ! One thing, a bit on the smaller side for a large ... Maybe they have an extra large? Or get TWO!! ? Service was great - we were rushing to get our friend to the train and everyone was welcoming & helpful!
Excellent pizza and best toppings around! We always get the Dolce Vita. Salads are good too with giant portions. A small will feed 2-4 people. We like Dawn's Delight. Service is good, though it can occasionally be crowded due to popularity. My only complaint: we once ordered pick up and were given a pizza we didn't order. We didn't realize until we got home, 35 minutes away, and didn't feel like driving back. We were not fans of the other pizza. I think it had jalapenos and pickles on it maybe. Anyway, make sure to check your box at pickup.
It took a few years to finally try this restaurant, and we were both upset that we hadn't come in earlier. The pizzas are fresh, unique, and offer the best crust I've ever had. Perfectly balanced with flavor, cheese, sauce, and chew. The spelt crust is terrific, too! It doesn't stop there though - hearty salads that compliment the meal and pasta specials that have blown me away. Their lasagna is perfection! It's been hard to avoid after sampling their menu, so Baba Louie's is now on our short list of places to eat in the area.
They sell fresh wood-fired pizzas and it was really good 👍
This place is the best. Lactose free cheese for the lactose intolerant or vegan crowd. They make any possible combination of pizza and the crust - OMG the crust. It's SO SO SO GOOD! You can get personal size pizza or group sized. Salads are excellent and always top quality ingredients. Small bar with nice beer and soft drinks. We've never been disappointed here ALWAYS GREAT!
Omg delicious! Ordered a Riccardo Pizza and the chef's pasta special (Ravioli with mushrooms in a butter sauce). If was all divine! It was a nice casual atmosphere, but still very nice for a date. I had heard so many good things about this place... I confirm the rumors: this place is amazing! The staff was nice and helpful with suggestions, and the service was fast!
Absolutely delicious….. Perfect thin, crispy crust. Had the Classic Cheese and the Dolce Vita(figs, Gorgonzola,prosciutto)—-truly outstanding! Quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. Loved it!!
Eclectic pizza on ultra-thin crusts. Many options and combinations that you might not have thought of. Great salads - order them family style to serve the table. Gluten free crusts too.
Great food. Best pizza ever. Dolce Vita amazing.
Their pizza is very unique and we loved it. Their sourdough crust is perfectly crispy.
Love the food! Really good pizza and great service. Truly, this place is awesome
We got a large pizza in sourdough with Dolce Vita (add garlic sausage) on one half and and Ricardo on the other. The pizza here is some of the best I’ve had. The sourdough crust is thin and crispy, yet supports a surprising amount of ingredients; every bite is satisfying up to the last bite of crust. Their homemade chili oil is amazing too.
I’ve been known to drive over an hour for that BBQ chicken pizza. There’s nothing else like it. Most places make greasy BBQ chicken pizzas with cheap breaded tenders and low-quality sauce. Not this place. They go for a fresher grilled chicken taste instead and add in red onions to give the pizza an extra boost. And that crust. There’s nothing else like it.
This isn’t just “a nice pizza place in Hudson”. This spot is special, the owner and serve staff were so warm and welcoming. It would be a loss to visit the town and not stop by for a bite. Great for families, we had our 1 yo in a high chair and the staff was very accommodating. The pizzas - they aren’t just good; they are FANTASTIC. And I’m writing this from someone who’s lived in NYC for years, these pizzas could hold their own against some of the best in the city. The sourdough crust is excellent, the toppings are premium and taste amazing, the combos are thoughtfully put together. We got the Melanzana and Dolce Vita, both incredible. Bonus tip: get the house chili oil, it’s so good. Thank you for a wonderful Saturday night dinner!
Great sourdough pizza! Split a small margarita and it was the perfect size
Baba Louie’s is a neighborhood, family place that people travel quite a long way to visit. The service is personal and friendly and the food is fresh, healthy (don’t tell the kids) and delicious!
The pizza was TO DIE FOR. I was having trouble deciding which of the many amazing creations I wanted and was able to do half&half! I was visiting the area and definitely considered going back to being one home with me.
Had dinner with my brothers and daughter and we all very much enjoyed everything about this restaurant from the salad to the pizza to dessert and coffee. First time in Hudson and this place is a reason we’ll be back. :)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been a loyal customer of Baba Louie’s for close to 20 years, dating back to the original location in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, which is no longer open. I was genuinely happy when they opened in Hudson. What truly sets Baba Louie’s apart is their organic sourdough pizza crust—it’s exceptional. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. The ingredients are fresh, thoughtfully sourced, and consistently delicious. Full transparency: my son works here as a busboy, but that only reinforces my respect for this place. I see firsthand how well the staff is treated and how much pride goes into the food and the work environment. It’s a place with integrity, from the kitchen to the dining room. There’s a reason I’ve followed Baba Louie’s for decades. It’s honest, wholesome food made with care, and it remains a true Hudson favorite. ✔️ Five-star takeout as well*
Went to Hudson for our anniversary weekend and ended up eating here for lunch. It was very busy and only three waiters but we managed to get a seat at the bar. Sabrina took great care of us and was friendly and helpful despite the hectic work! The Caesar salad was huge and the pizza was great! Would definitely go back. Wish I had photos to share but we ate the food too fast lol
This was such a lovely experience as my first time eating in Hudson, after our move from wappingers. Growing up there, we knew all the best local spots, Baba Louie’s felt like home with a warm atmosphere and delicious food!! The nachos were AMAZING! We will definitely be back.
I am not a salad fan,but really enjoyed the phoebe salad. Had a basic margarita pizza and a puttanesca pizza. The marg was solid and the fancy pizza was very tasty. Good beer choices too.
We stopped here shortly after they opened for the day and was able to grab a spot pretty quickly. We got half of two pizzas - Melanzana Cardinale and Isabella Pizzarella. Both were delicious, but the star was Melanzana. The smoked gouda with the eggplant - wow wow wow. You gotta try it. Two halfs were more than enough for myself and partner, and I definitely recommend coming here for a quick bite!
We got a pizza for take out, we arrived early and one of the young women waitresses was so kind and told us to sit at the bar while we wait and she offered us water. Little did she know that we had been hiking all day and that kind gesture was so appreciated! The atmosphere inside was so cozy, exactly what you’d want from an Italian restaurant. The pizza was absolutely incredible, the ingredients all tasted extremely fresh, and that sourdough crust was just amazing. Coming from Jersey, this goes a long way!
This is not your ordinary pizza place. The pizza that is served here is of a much higher quality. We had the margherita pizza with pepperoni. It was a masterful blend of simple, balanced and flavorful ingredients. The golden-brown thin crust was crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. The sauce was bright and fresh and did not overwhelm the other flavors of the pizza. The pepperoni slices were big, smoky and slightly spicy and tangy. And who can forget the marvelous cheese? It had a delightful chewiness that melted in my mouth with each incredible bite. We also shared the caesar salad which was fresh and delicious and had mouth watering crunchy croutons. For dessert we had the brownie sandwich. This too was a sweet refreshing treat which was perfect for sharing. If you want top-notch pizza, this is the place to go.
The food here is ANAZING, we loved the prosciutto and fig pizza, but we ended up getting 3 pies and a sandwich (seriously good Ruben’s - that’s coming from a guy who lived in Brooklyn for 10 years) and the service was amazing! Ask for Sabrina she’s very knowledgeable and will steer you in the right direction! Cheers to the best pizza outside the city I’ve found in a long long time.
Quiet and friendly, the lovely server was knowledgeable of the food and gave great service, attentive but not over the top. It was Friday evening on the 10th of January. 6:45 PM, the restaurant was almost full with one or two tables empty. We split a salad, and we each had a pizza. Salad was fresh and quite large. Perfect for two. We had Dawn’s Delight Salad with gorgonzola, pears, dried cranberries and toasted walnuts, served on a bed of mixed greens with our balsamic vinaigrette. For the pizza, I had Riccardo's Pizza Famosa which is what is pictured and was absolutely delicious. It was my first time there though I had passed it many times over the years. We spent around $60 with beverages included. We will be returning.
One of the best pizza crusts I’ve ever had - thin, crispy AND chewy, and flavorful! The toppings were delicious as well - we had the Dolce Vita on one side and the Riccardo’s Famous on the other side. The Riccardo’s side tasted really nice with their chili oil (which they brought us in a bottle). Don’t skip this place if you’re visiting Hudson!
Small yet accommodating. Double doors were slightly difficult with a car seat...why does Hudson have so many of those and what is their purpose? Those of us who ordered pizza were impressed. Personal size were perfect meals and the homemade crust tasted amazing. Ingredients were delicious. Those who ordered apps (wings and fries) and paninis were much less than impressed. The cutting boards are cute but not functional when loaded with food. Wings were extremely salty for some reason. Service was great even during the Pride parade with many staff and diners in and out to see the festivities. I will definitely be back if only for the tasty pizzas.
We have tried out their Greek salad and two of their pizzas - Coles creation and smthg else - Their pizzas are good, salad too somewhat original, and the service is satisfactory, but not great. Overall, it's good, my daughter likes to go there, so I like it too, I think. Hudson is like a medieval town. it's really a nice place.
Tried the pizza with parsnips and sweet potato. Not my choice to order it and it wasn't my favorite. The dough is decent. Not the best I have had but I like the crispy and chewy combo. Overall decent experience
Very good food, service, and atmosphere, overall, I highly recommend going there! A reservation might be necessary, especially for busy days, since it's known for the good food. The waiting times are not too long, the prices are okay, and especially the BBQ Chicken Pizza is highly recommended!
The Pizza crust is to die for!!! One of the BEST! Pretty much everything I've ever had there was delicious. I would have given them 5 stars because I go there all the time except that the last 3 times I went, it was HOT outside and their air conditioner was not doing its job. Luckily it was not crowded cause they get packed Fridays and Saturdays, they need to get a better air system. The service is ok depending on who you get but the food is always AWESOME!
Great gluten free pizza. Lovely staff. Recommend!
Oddly enough the best thing here is the soup and bread (potato bread? Sourdough bread?). The pizza has good flavor but you’ve got to like a crunchy (not crispy but crunchy) crust. The soup is this wonderful homemade, delicious concoction that changes all the time but is just wonderful on a cold night. The bread has rosemary and garlic in it and is just amazing.
I enjoyed this place. Great staff and amazing salads. Seriously, get a salad, even if that's not normally your thing. They're huge and packed with a nice mix of hearty ingredients. Score isn't a 5 because the pizza was just good, not great. Quality ingredients, fantastic sauce, but the crust was just...off. I like a thin, firm crust, but this was tough, not crunchy. Maybe it didn't proof long enough? Overall good experience and worth a visit.
The staff and ambiance give off the homie yet elegant spirit that all of Hudson’s Warren shops seemed to have! The menu is simple but not boring; with an array of some Italian classics, and gourmet brick oven pizza. I enjoyed their vegetable soup as if it was mom’s and the Pomodoro Bianco pie was delightful. Although I went alone, this place seemed family friendly!
Ordered 3 veggie pizzas for takeout. All were very good, fresh ingredients. Would definitely go back. Very chewy sourdough crusts were tasty, liked them better than spelt.
Baba Louie's starts with a sour dough crust that doesn't quite get there. The toppings are a bit better and different than your average pizzeria. Overall the pizza is good. Worth a visit.
This is a different type of pizza: sourdough. The toppings are fresh and tasty and the dough is thin and crusty with a different type of taste than regular pizza dough. I believe they make the dough ahead of time and just add the toppings as opposed to fresh tossing. The Greek salad has a different take as well: pumpkin seeds. The food is very tasty, just different from what one would expect. The staff is very friendly and accomodating.
I wasn't impressed with the pizza and it's because of the crust. Very thin, very crunchy, and not that flavor full. If you like thin and crunchy, go for it! If you like your classic pizza, stay away. The people were wonderful. I was seated quickly and the waitress was very nice and helpful in answering questions about the menu.
Went in to take out desserts- carrot cake and tiramisu. Both were horrible. Carrot cake my friend had was mealy and just bad. The tiramisu was more like a cake and was also a bit mealy and had barely any mascarpone. I believe it also had chocolate chips in it? It really wasn’t tiramisu. Definitely don’t recommend desserts but will try Lisa and salads if ever back in Hudson.
The menu states there's an extra charge for vegan cheese. Fair enough. It's probably more expensive. One of the higher priced pizzas comes standard with vegan cheese. Again, fair enough. I ordered that one and asked them to hold the vegan cheese and use a light amount of regular cheese instead. Waitress said sure. Wondered why my bill was so high, come to find out they charged me extra for this. Make it make sense!
Gluten free Over priced. In general is an overpriced place. Service was good. Small place but nice environment. Clean. Pitza was good. they use vegetable based cheese for lactose intolerance, it is not the best cheese. Is easy find lactose free cheddar cheese (Cabot brand) to enjoy real cheese.
Nice that they have several vegetarian options, but unfortunately nobody was too happy with the pizza. The crust really doesn't seem to be sourdough. Just a hard flat meh. Completely forgettable sauce and toppings that manage to miss the mark. We were glad we had other stuff in the house to snack on, because nobody was coming back for leftover pizza.
Crust was bad - tough, tasteless, paper-thin, seemed undercooked (no brick oven flavor) and had a weird greenish yellow color. Toppings ok, although too heavy on the food-service olives (puttanesca pizza, salty enough from the capers and anchovies). Tasty roasted garlic compensated for the flavorless cheese. Nice service and atmosphere, but not going back for the pizza.
The service, broccoli cheddar soup, and sourdough bread were all good - but the pizza may have been the worst I have ever paid for. We ordered the Puttanesca, and between the anchovies, olives, and the capers the saltiness was overpowering. The sourdough crust lacked any kind of sourdough flavor - it honestly felt closer to a cracker than a pizza crust.
Baba Louie ,Warren St Hudson, NY. I returned to give Baba Louie another try after leaving for 2 years because the quality of food declined. I ordered putanesca pizza, the shrimp and overwhelming taste of anchovies was a total miss, the anchovies wasn't quality, too salty should get better quality and should only be hints of anchovies. The shrimp was awful. I also ordered a Margherita pizza with sausage and pepperoni, the dough has nice texture and flavor, this was a win. If your palette craving sour dough give this place a try.
After reading the reviews, I thought, this was a place to go to! What a disappointment. This was one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten. The tomato sauce was awful, the cheese was tasteless. Once the pizza began to cool, the crust became hard and tough. I will say the salad was delicious, the service excellent. But this is not a restaurant I would recommend.
Rude service. The waiter wouldn’t seat us because we only had 2 people. Took 10 minutes for them to even acknowledge me.
Sad to say, this was bad, I am a baker and that was not sourdough, there is no wood fire either, I took a look at the oven while there and it was a rotating stone gas oven, the salad was okay, pizza bad. Hudson needs a good symple good pizza spot
Closing time is at 8pm on Sundays, my Husband and I went in at 7:36p. The host asked me to wait, then asked the manager where to sit myself and my husband. The manager came out and told her employee in a clipped and short tone that we could not be sat at a table because it was too close to closing time and if we wanted to order, we'd have to do take-out. She never even talked to us even though we were right there. The manager also stated that there were "No tables clear" when there were 2 tables completely open (see below pictures), and other patrons had just told us that they were just sat at a table. 24 minutes before the marked closing at a normal dinner hour should not equate to business being turned away in the first place, let alone in such a blatantly rude and passive-aggressive way. Being gay, my Husband and I are used to being discriminated against, but not when the business is flying a pride flag on its door and states that it's LGBTQ+ friendly. Would absolutely not recommend to our LGBTQ+ friends and allies in this area.
