The service/server was awesome. I had the Chicken Fried Sirloin Steak.

This place was super busy. We had a large party and the waitress was awesome. The food was delicious but pricey. It was a little too loud for my liking. It was hard to hear my party talking to each other but most places are getting loud/ echo. I did enjoy the location and being able to visit outside. It was a little cooler weather but they did have outdoor heaters. Cute little shopping gift shop. Overall not perfect but fairly close.

The staff was absolutely fantastic and that's an understatement. We had the three meat, brisket sausage and ribs they were all cooked to perfection and delicious. We were visiting from out of state and WILL be back.

Incredible food! Our family loves this place every time we go. The steaks are incredible, service is fantastic, and the cobbler is to die for. I highly recommend!

Great steakhouse! Service was equally great, Kenzie did a great job. Bar drinks are basic and delicious. Ribeye was cooked perfectly. Bread and sides well prepared also. Save room for homemade cobbler!

Great place! A fun environment and good food are the combination that makes this place memorable. Sadly, the down side was that, though we had a reservation and were on time, we weren't allowed to slowly enjoy our meal, but we're given a time that we needed to leave by! The owner (wife) was in the full dining room and never smiled even once. I really felt like we were more of a bother to her than anything else.

My (older) parents were driving thru town and my boyfriend recommended this place from his time visiting family at Tech a long time ago. I am helping my parents navigate this trip (even though I’m not physically with them) and so I was trying to make everything easy (& memorable) for them. So, I called to set a reservation and fortunately for me Lisa Cagle answered the phone and she said “Leave it to me!” My parents said the food and atmosphere was the best they have experienced! (My parents eat out a lot so this is huge!) They talked about every dish in detail and how everything was delicious! They enjoyed meeting the Cagles as they moved thru the restaurant checking on guests and that just made my parents experience that much more elevated! They said the Cagles were so nice and fun to talk to, it felt just like catching up with old friends. They are tickled pink that they stopped by Cagle Steaks & BBQ. I was so happy to hear my parents had such a wonderful time! Thank you Mr & Mrs Cagle!

Super atmosphere! The staff are so friendly, attentive and efficient. They moved quickly and delivered delicious food so that our large group could eat at the same time. The food was fantastic, would love to know what the rub is on the filet 8oz. So tender and flavorful that it was a true epicurean delight!! Thank you for the great music too! Definitely recommend 👌 👍

My wife and I went here for a date night. I called ahead to make a reservation, and Mrs. Cagle assisted me. She was extraordinarily helpful and personable over the phone, as well as in person when we arrived. We were seated promptly, and the service from the waiter throughout our visit was perfect. He checked in on us just enough, but was never an annoyance. He even remembered little details about what we had requested that wait staff at a lesser restaurant would have ignored/forgotten. The food was perfect. Weeks later, my wife still talks about how delicious her filet tasted. She says it's the best steak she ever had. I might have to agree. The beans were also about the best I've tasted. We will most definitely be back, unless the Lord comes to take us home first. A+!!!

This place is a must try. Their steak, corn, fries and pecan cobbler are the best I’ve had in Lubbock. The service is fantastic they make you feel like you’re having dinner at your family’s table. With service and food this good you will never want to go anywhere else.

Loved this place! The staff was so accommodating and so sweet. Food was good, too! We had brisket, sausage, chicken, beans, potatoes, cornbread and fresh bread. I especially liked that they brought you a bowl of beans first with the cornbread and bread. I would definitely return!

Was in Lubbock and heard about this place. The food was awesome. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The ambience was pleasant. It was a bit of a drive but worth it to get away from everything. The band in the lounge while waiting for the table was a definite plus. Without a doubt worth several return visits.

Best ribeye I've ever eaten. Server was great, very welcoming and attentive. Did not have time to visit the Country Store so now I have an excuse to go back (as if the best steak isn't reason enough).

We have had great experiences here in the past. Tonight was the first time we came in about 10 years. It was just like I remember it years ago! The food was wonderful. This is definitely the best place to get a steak in West Texas. It was delicious and we plan to come back!

This is our second time to eat at Cagle’s. Love the ambience and the food is great! We have decided during our travels, to stop in Lubbock and bypass Amarillo. That means steak night at Cagle’s at least once a year while traveling. I was thinking that if I was local, I would be wearing this place out with frequent visits! Good job Cagle!

A definite must visit on every trip to Lubbock. Great steaks, cooked perfectly order and so tender! Great seasoning.

Everything about this place is iconic and family owned! Just outside of town so it’s not far of a drive at all. Ordered a steak med. rare and it was just a little bit over done and kinda dry, but flavor was good and everything else was spot on and their deserts were delicious! Great place for birthday or company parties with the amount of space they have and all for a reasonable price in this current economy. Will definitely go back again!

Best steak eat on my US trip. The place is very Texas style and cool. But the quality and the taste of the meat is something incredible! I was surprised, very suggested to visit

Cagle Steaks is hands down my favorite steak restaurant in Lubbock, or frankly any steak house I've visited. In my personal opinion they rival even over the top steak houses like Ruth's Chris that you can't walk away from without spending $100 per person if you're lucky. On top of that, the atmosphere the Cagle family has built around their farm / restaurant is an amazing, friendly atmosphere that embodies West Texas culture and hospitality. And on top of that, more than likely when you visit here you'll also get a change to interact with the Cagle family as they are very hands on with their amazing restaurant. I have yet to not speak to John every time I visit and is always an interesting and friendly conversation. If you are looking for a phenomenal steak house with a wonderful West Texas experience, look no further! They are great for large groups as well, as I first learned of them from a work function my wife organized here and she couldn't have been happier with the outcome.

TLDR: Food is phenomenal, service was great, experience will be remembered. Long winded review: I visited Cagle tonight while in town visiting from Austin, TX for GM corporate training for my company. I went along with another GM from our area, as well as our Franchise owner. The meal experience I had was so good that I had to write a review, which I don't do too often. This meal was the best meal that I can ever remember having in my life. Seriously. It's either #1, or at least top 3 if I'm forgetting some others. I ordered the Filet medium well with french fries. Nothing special or over the top. I just wanted Steak and potatoes, and that's what I chose. The steak was cooked flawlessly to medium well temperature. It was seasoned and flavored to perfection. So good in fact, that I went back in afterwards and bought their seasonings to take home for my own steaks and meats. The fries were also excellent. I've never had such a wonderfully cohesive pairing of steak and potatoes. The flavors complimented eachother so well. Thats just what I ordered... that doesn't include the DELICIOUS bread and beans that are complimentary. Just an added bonus there. Service was prompt and they brought refills before needed, asked how our food was but weren't pushy or overbearing about it. Got us extra bread quickly when asked, and we're very kind overall. All in all, if I return to Lubbock for more training, which should be a few more times, I will make it an absolute must to go here every single time at least once. And dang it if I'm not tempted to drive my wife an 11 hour round trip from Austin to Lubbock, of all places... Just for her to try this restaurant. And she doesn't even tend to like steak. Ill never forget the first time I had Cagle.

Had been several years since I had been out there and it is as wonderful as ever. Food is amazing, service is wonderful, atmosphere is incredible. Was met at the door by one of the owners, another owner came by our table to check on everything, and one of the children of the owner came by as well. Family run business. Just incredible. Due to location you forget it us there. But there is no better steakhouse in Lubbock Texas in my opinion. It isn't pretentious, it is a good steak and good sides and great service.

Great Steakhouse outside of Lubbock on a Ranch! Very nice setting and what you want from a Texas steakhouse! Steaks are amazing, great spices and cooked over mesquite charcoal. The stuffed jalapeños are so good and the cornbread is awesome! The staff does a great job and you can tell the place is well managed!

If you're looking for a lubbock staple in the community, this is it! They will cook anything on the menu to where it's delicious! The 1 inch(16oz) steak was the most perfect medium cook iv ever received from a steakhouse! The brisket potato was hitting every mark! And free beans and cornbread!!! I mean, what else are you looking for! The menu has something for everybody, the prices can be a little scary to be honest but the food is so very much worth it!! Will be back as many times as my wallet allows!!

Was passing through Lubbock and found this place on Google. Definitely worth the stop. Everything was amazing cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place. Even tho I ate so much I just had to try the Peach cobbler. It was amazing. So even if you eat to much still go for it.

We had my mom’s 90 and brother’s 70 combined family birthday celebration Saturday! We had the Indian room reserved for 35 and we had a 110% turnout with over 40 ! Lisa made sure everybody found a seat inside the party room and just outside to eat. Our circumstances were managed with ease and the food and service was fantastic! We made the best memories and are super glad we had our party at Cagles!!

Let me be up front here, I don't think that the salads my wife and I got were worth a whopping $7. I got a Caesar salad and she got a house salad. On top of the value of it, she got a tomato that was rotten, that was the only tomato they put on the house salad. She asked for more tomatoes and they brought her five more tomatoes. Of those five, three of them were no good as well. That being said, the rest of the food was fantastic. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides we're really tasty as well. I'm still giving it five stars even though the salads weren't up to par because the steaks made up for the bleh salads.

As always you can’t miss with Cagle’s, been coming here since I was a kid. They’re so confident with their steaks that they only serve 2 cuts: filet and rib eye. The rib eye in 4 different sizes : 1/2”, ¾”, 1”, 1 ¼”. The ambiance is really nice, once you get there it looks like an old western movie. The peach cobbler is a must for dessert.

This place was awesome! If you come to Lubbock you MUST come here! Not only a really good steak place, but the ambiance is fantastic! The whole area feels like an old west movie set and it feels like they might host live music. Anyway, I'd come to just sit and relax with a glass of wine. I came on Halloween, the servers were dressed in costumes, it was fun. Great service and the fresh bread, jalapeno corn bread and beans are a nice touch and really delicious! Win!

This is a complicated review. I thought this place was one of the most beautiful spots I visited in Lubbock. The outdoor patio while wait for a table had live music and a chill vibe. The people that came were having fun and there were people of all ages. It was obvious that some paid a lot of attention to the details of the place and I love that. All of the food was good. After such a wonderful place I expected the same attention to detail to exist in the food as well. The bread was fine but not warm. The Zinggers were good but not crispy. The meat was smoked but kind of bland. Perhaps it is because so many other details were so good that I had high expectations, so I might try again some day.

N
Norma R

The venue is well done, but parking quickly fills up. I came here for a work party. I could not honestly say how much a plate would cost. I did enjoy the cleanliness of the place. The staff here is great and attentative. The steak was good, but I didn't find the food to be impressive. I would come back in the future.

D
Dustin Southway

The atmosphere is authentically Texan, with a wild west vibe that makes you feel right at home. I was real tempted to get the chicken fried streak but ended up getting a 16 oz ribeye. The steaks were cooked great—tender and juicy. The mesquite charcoal really adds a good flavor. The staff were friendly and fast. They had us seated real quick in spite of how busy things were. The cobbler at the end was so good! So leave room for dessert.

I gave Cagles Steakhouse 4 stars. 5 stars for the food and Country and Western atmosphere very cool. 3 stars for 2 reasons we had one of the dumbest waiters I've ever had. Plus we had 2 pesky flys bugging us throughout the entire meal. But I won't allow those 2 things keep me away. I'll be coming back again. Price is about the same as any good Steakhouse. It has a very minimal menu. Steaks and BBQ plates. Which is ok with me because I go to Steakhouses for a good steak.

D
D

First, the location and the ambiance are cool. Second, these are "farm country" ribeye steaks (like people eat in West Kansas, West Oklahoma, West Texas), not Del Friscos in Dallas. That means they are not 2.5 inches, they are thinner and get good char cooked over some wood. Since I grew up in Kansas, I personally like steaks like this, especially if they are not $70 (and they are around $30). The sides were good. And I would come here to eat steak again. That said, I would not order the BBQ again for supper. A Texas BBQ pit takes a lot of precision and doting for 4-12 hours, and it is not something elite BBQ places sell all day.

Haven't been here in years! Had a big party for a wedding anniversary, which this is the only place in Lubbock that would take reservations for a group of 20. Room we reserved was accommodating and we were very comfortable in there. Our waiter and rest of staff were very friendly and professional. Cornbread was very good along with their appetizers. Ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, rib, and sausage. Rib and sausage was were on point and brisket was a bit on the dry side. Serving was lacking on this plate. Potato salad was on the sweet side not tangy like most other places. Green beans were good. Steaks and fish were amazing! Would recommend for a large party, for food, atmosphere, and location. Relaxed sitting area outside along with a shop you can buy merchandise. Expected more from the dress code. People were in shorts and caps.

The last time we had been here was probably over 20 years ago. We had a good friend of ours having his birthday celebration here and we were invited. We were seated quickly and the waitress was extremely good. Once our entire party had arrived we ordered and some even had some appetizers. We ordered the fried mushrooms. For the price of the fried mushrooms, there should have been a LOT more on the plate. They were good though. We are not fans of prime rib and we were not about to pay $42 for a filet. We chose to order the two meat plate of BBQ. The turkey was good, the sausage was good and the brisket was good but they don't remove all the fat. One guy sat next to me ordered the two meat plate with brisket and ribs. He got his plate and there was 1 rib. Overall the food is good, and we would go again if asked, but we would not go out there for a date. The food is no better than many other places but is on the expensive side.

Steak is very good here. We had the appetizer sampler (where it came with everything) and it was "okay" probably not the best we've had. The dessert - peach cobbler with icecream was subpair - $8 for a tiny bowl of cobber with 1 small scope of icecream was overkill. However, service is good. I recommend sticking with the steak on "medium rare" temp if going here. Props to owners who were friendly and greeted us.

Our group of four arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday night (on a football weekend). We had no problem parking, despite there being a lot of people there. This is a very popular spot. We waited approximately 30 minutes for a table. We waited in a building adjacent to the restaurant, where live music was playing, and alcoholic beverages were available. It was a nice place to wait, other than the music was so loud that it was hard to have a conversation. We were seated a table for four, but it was very small. Our waitress was very nice! I had the catfish. It was several small cut pieces, rather than a large fillet. It was cooked just right and tasty! We'll definitely come back next time we're in town.

Went for dinner around 6pm. Our waitress Alyssa was very polite and attentive. We started off with the bacon wrapped jalapenos and also the ones with shrimp added. They're served with ranch and cocktail sauce. For my entree, I ordered a medium rare ribeye with a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly. My baked potato was nice and soft inside. It came with butter, sour cream and cheese. I ate it all up! My son ordered the grilled salmon with the potato salad as a side. The salmon was served on a bed of rice. A lemon butter sauce would've made the salmon a little better, it was borderline dry. The potato salad was creamy and on the sweeter side so we didn't care for it. For dessert we tried the cherry and the peach cobbler. They were just basic. I didn't taste any added spices. Not sure I would order them again. Stick with the ribeye and baked potato.

10/10 atmosphere, 3/10 food. SO cute. Felt like I'd stepped into Disneyland. Moments after stepping in the door we were already talking about the next time we'd be back and who we'd bring with us. Then our food arrived. I wanted so badly for it to be excellent, but it was mediocre. The appetizer bread was yummy, but needed to be paired with salted butter or honey butter. Got the appetizer sampler and the fried pickles were yummy, the other appetizers were fine. We wanted our steak to be cooked medium-well and it was well-done. The rub had a nice flavor, but it was light. The mashed potatoes were fine. I don't recommend the brisket, too fatty. The sausage was better than Evie Mae's down the street. The ribs were fine. Green beans came from a can. Cobbler was fine. Overall I think I could've made a tastier meal at home. I really wanted the meal to match the ambience, and it didn't. Can't decide if I want to give it a second shot.

It was a company Christmas party. They served the meat from warmers. I had a choice between steak or chicken. I chose chicken because last years Christmas party the steak wasn't great. I enjoyed the chicken but it still wasn't the best I've had.

We had reservations for about 20 people for my husbands birthday. We had a great time, food was amazing, and our server, Trace, was super attentive, accommodating and friendly. We had brought a cake with us and at the end, our table was promptly cleaned up and plates, forks, and even a big knife was given to us so we could cut the cake and get it served to everyone. After paying the bill, we asked Trace if we could get the remaining of the cake held for us while we all went to grab a couple of drinks at the bar prior to yall closing at 10pm (that was a 9pm, so we asked if they could hold the remaining cake which was over half of it left). He told us that was not a problem at all, took the cake and our group of friends and family all went across the way to sit and enjoy a couple drinks before saying our goodnight and thank you’s to everyone. At 9:40, my husband went into get the cake and thank Trace again for his amazing service and he informed us that the kitchen staff had thrown away the cake and profusely apologized. To say we were more than a little agitated (not at him) would be an understatement. The cake costed us a $120 from a local cake baker and because most of us were full, the cake barely got eaten. My husband never even got a piece of his own birthday cake. I didn’t get a piece of it. I know it’s just cake but a lot of money went into making this cake special for my husband not to mention time and talent of the baker. I decided to talk with the manager. I didn’t know how it could be rectified but I thought maybe he could offer something maybe a gift card to be able to go back and enjoy another time with my husband and get some of yalls delicious dessert or reimbursement for the cake or something, I’m not sure but something. First off, he was not friendly. He was actually kind of rude. Second off, he made Trace pay us $60 out of his own pockets as a rectification. That was, to us, absolutely unacceptable. It wasn’t Trace’s fault, it was the kitchen staff. And for a manager to treat an employee like that is definitely NOT okay. It wouldn’t have hurt the restaurant to offer at the very least a gift card for us to come back. It would have brought us back and we likely would have ended up spending more money there not to mention, we would have told everyone about this extraordinary local business that not only provided amazing service all evening but also, rectified a situation we had had. Instead, my husband said we probably won’t be back because he doesn’t want to support a business that not only treats their customers like that but also their employees. All of our guest witnessed the interaction and agreed that this isn’t the kind of local business to support if money is more important to the restaurant than providing excellent customer service. Needless to say, we ended up walking back in, finding Trace and we gave him his money back. We thanked him as profusely as he apologized to us and we told him it wasn’t his fault and his service was outstanding and we appreciated him trying to fix the situation but it was wrong for the manager to have made him pay out of his own pockets. He was so grateful that we gave him his money back and thanked us. We told him we would be contacting different managers and the owners but that we couldn’t take his money. And we left.

Food was cooked well, & quality seemed good, but everything was a little bland. Not much really good tasting food. I got the chicken fried ribeye. The texture was perfect. Soft meat, crispy crust, cooked perfectly.... Just lightly seasoned. Oh yeah, the $10 cheese sticks tasted like they came right out of the frozen food isle. Waitress also was not overly friendly, but did a decent job. Overall, we liked it, and the pricing was OK for a steak house, but definitely not a place I'd want to go every week, but not bad for a one-off.

Ambiance was great, server was attentive only after being told we would be needing many drink refills during dinner as everyone was dehydrated from being outside all day. Ordered Steaks (of course), we do Blue Rare steaks cooking temp, all steaks delivered at Medium Rare to Rare. Steak was fair on flavor. Sides were very dry and unappealing to the eye. Server added a Card fee without asking payment method so we had to direct to have it removed. Provided payment amount only in initial handling of bill, server seemed put out by not having a preset tip in the bill binder when he went for payment. For over 200$ bill, would have expected either better food/service or both. Been here a few times and everytime the service goes down and the quality remains fair.

Posting from the perspective of a vegan / vegetarian. Veggie fajitas portion size is very small. I went home hungry. Beans that are "free" are cooked with bacon (and no we don't just pick it out). Peach cobbler is only $5 but was rather sad looking in a little plastic 5" plate. While I appreciate that there is a vegetarian option, I feel it could be improved. Obviously this place doesn't cater to a vegetarian palate but I didn't put up a fight when a group of friends and family wanted to try it.

We got two orders of steak feita and one crispy chicken salad. The frys than came with it was cold half dried out. We had water for drinks. Came to around $54 dollars with tax and their add on charges came to $ 89 dollar. Gratitude tax, charge for card, Service fee, then regular tax

The steaks were fantastic, and everything else was underwhelming. Went with my family, and only one side was good out of five orders. The mac and cheese was unevenly heated, the broccoli was overcooked, the complimentary beans weren’t seasoned at all, and the cornbread was cold. Our service was excellent, but it was a very expensive meal for how lackluster half of it was.

First and only time we’ll go here. Just save your money and go somewhere else. They overcharge for what you get. The “two meat plate” came with one rib and some brisket (see pictures). You can add a side salad for $7, but this is for a salad that comes with the stem ends of romaine lettuce, one slice of cucumber, one mini carrot, one cherry tomato, and a bunch of croutons (see pictures). I did ask for one that wasn’t all ends, and they brought another one, that was almost the exact same thing. The brisket baked potato was good! But it’s listed under the entrees, which state they all come with one side, but they up-charge you $7 for a small side and then tell you after the bill comes that a side isn’t included with the potato. When we asked our server what all came on the regular baked potato side she stated “butter, cheese, sour cream, and bacon” then we noticed we were up-charged for bacon on the potatoes ..?The Mac and cheese side was small and flavorless. You have to serve yourself the ranch beans that are sitting in a large crock pot that are in desperate need of seasoning. The meat is all very good. But the rest was just not good.

Good food and good service. I will complain that the baked potato was not completely cooked, was still a little hard on the bottom. Steak was good correctly with good flavor. Pinto beans were on the bland side and needed salt and pepper. Nice atmosphere, large area and buildings for parties. It is out of the way, but it is worth coming out for...

The food tasted ok but was not worth the prices. Our waitress was very polite . Not to happy that for a group of 4 and only 3 ate as the 4th was a baby, that they put the gratuity on our ticket. I could understand for a group of 6 or more but not for 3 meals at almost 19% automatically charged. The waitress actually received a smaller tip than what we would have normally left because the automatic charge kinda upset us.

We paid $80.80 The food was absolutely terrible! The brisket was undercooked and mushy. The steak although good texture what overly seasoned. The peach cobbler tasted like stale card board and rotten peaches I almost through up at the table. My husband finished both plates as to atleast eat the 80 dollars worth but didn't like any of it. I ate a few bites of each to see if I wanted his plate or mine and I just couldn't. The tip we left was for the waitress which the service is the ONLY THING that pushed this review to 2 stars. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!

Had a ribeye that was super thin and way too much pepper. It was also $30, with only one side which was a mediocre baked potato. I used to love this place but it has just gone downhill. The atmosphere was OK and the wait staff was good.

Cagles accepted our reservation for a party of 40 at 8:30 on a Friday night; however, rushed service and literally asked our party to leave although we had food and cocktails remaining. Very disappointed that we spent thousands and then they ushered us off in haste - unabashedly and curt. Food is decent but nothing to write home about. We’ve always given them our business since they are locally owned and the ambience is unique; however, the male manager/chef has put an end to that. Hospitality matters and is expected even more at family owned local business. So unfortunate.

My steak was so good in flavor. The way I wanted it cook was not. I like medium rare and it was brown throughout. My sons salmon lacked flavor the rice was very bland. Everyone who ordered chicken complained that it was dry. Everyone who ordered rice complained. The server did tell my husband that you can swap out the turkey for a different meat but never came and said that he actually could not and still brought with deli type of turkey. My husband was upset because the amountbof brisket and sausage was not enough he was still hungry and had to eat some of my steak. Paid for a three meat and only ate two. We had 5 people on our ticket and we paid a little less than 400.00 the servers were kind, on the ball with refills. It was a larger group because it was a party, but the food was like it was not made fresh. Except for the steak. I guess don't order anything different than a steak when going to a steak house.

The atmosphere is amazing and the food is almost all really good. But for a steakhouse, you would think they could cook their steaks properly. It had been a long wait to get a table, then the service was not overly fast, that is fine, the Zingers for appetizers were fabulous, but we were hungry and wanted our steak. Needless to say, we were famished by the time they arrived and dug right in. That is when we began to notice how raw they were, we ordered Medium and got Rare. But the searing and exterior flavor was so good we couldn't stop eating because...well, we were so hungry. We didn't want to wait longer or make a scene so went ahead and finished them but it made the evening and meal a disappointment. Rather than say nothing and leave unhappy, we expressed our disappointment with our server who told the old lady at the front. Most fine establishments want to hear from an unsatisfied customer prior to them leaving and writing a poor review and losing them as future customers. Well, the old lady would have none of that customer service malarkey and began to tell us how it was our fault we weren't happy with the steak as we could have sent the meat back for more cookin'. I didn't think her attitude was quite right and I didn't think you should ever send your food back in to the person who cooked it wrong the first time and ask them to fix it....no telling how it might come back. So thanks to her rudeness, they don't ever have to worry about us visiting again for another sub standard meal. And thanks to the Zingers, they got 2 whole stars instead of 1, yay.

The service is great, the poppers were deep-fried, I didn’t expect that from such a lavish, appearing steakhouse. Our Diet Coke did not taste like Diet Coke . I just feel like if they’re gonna make some poppers they should smoke them the night before and warm them up not deep fry them and serve them and not put that on the description. If you want quality go to Las Brisas or Texas Roadhouse.

We were a large group of 9. Many of our sides were cold. They were great to replace them. I ordered the fried catfish and a baked potato. They were very stingy on the potato’s toppings (barely any cheese or bacon). My meal was not hot, and I have been sick vomiting up the catfish all morning. I’m sure the steaks are probably good but very pricey. The service workers were great! They were friendly and attentive. Oddly, both restrooms had their doors propped open with chairs. There are individual stalls and they are very clean, but there’s not much privacy with the outer doors propped open. I will not go again due to being so ill afterwards.

Food in general was below average. Catfish specifically was not eatable. We were cramped in a to small space, and rushed by waitstaff. Live band and outlying shops were very nice, but not enough to carry the poor dining experience.

This place is very poorly managed. We waited over an hour. When we finally got to our table we found a 1/3rd of the tables empty. Server was nice but our food took another hour. When we got our food they had forgotten to put in one of our orders. Three other orders had wrong sides, wrong temp, etc. For the wrong order they brought a different plate with a different steak on it and asked if we would take it. We did, and juggled around the messed up sides to where most people got something similar to what they ordered. Keep in mind, we had been there 2 hours and barely got food at this point. We never saw a manager the entire time. When we got the bill, nothing was discounted. We were charged regular price for the meal that was "substituted" as the replacement that was actually ordered. I don't have a problem with the error. I don't have a problem waiting an hour for what we thought was going to be an excellent dining experience. But when you screw something up, make it right. No busers, no runners, not enough cooks or waitresses. If a fancy steakhouse has staffing issues in a big college town, it's because that place sucks to work at. Definitely do not recommend.

We were for my son’s birthday, I did not want to raise any complaints at the table so now I will say my peace. The jake steak was a laugh, $30 for a steak so thin I could have bought that at United supermarket for $3. We did not get our beans, salads were brought to us midway thru the meal, my wife’s glass had lipstick on it and the bread was also brought halfway into the meal. The waitress was awful, like it was her first day. To get refills was almost nonexistent except for the alcohol. Grandson got the ketchup at the end of his meal. I looked around at other tables and there was no problems. I was nice and left a $10 tip which I shouldn’t have done. Oh yeah my older grandson’s steak from kids menu was bigger than my Jake steak. I always heard how good the place was but you can’t always go by what you hear, you need to experience it first hand. I will not be recommending this place or come again. We saw people getting dessert but we were not asked or did we see it on the menu. Thank you

Let me start with the food was phenomenal and props to the waitress for doing her best. Unfortunately, the issue I had with my family was that we called quite awhile in advanced to ask about reserving a table the respose we got was that they are first come, first serve with your party. With this knowledge we arrived at the restraunt on the day we had planned and when my party of eight got called to be seated they split us into two groups seperating us and ruining the event that we had planned for so long. It was not a great experience and when we confronted the hostess she simply responded with a smile and said you should’ve made a reservation. Why would you ever split up a party especially one that is not that big, not very organized, or customer friendly in my opinion:(

Our poor waitress Victoria had two large tables and really needed help but it appears none of the other waitresses staff had time to help her. We waited almost 50 min for food and ended up at the restaurant for an hour and forty minutes with only 1/2 of the restaurant full. Very disappointed that the wait staff does not help each other out and instead stood around and visited.

The evening of July 27th, I attended a birthday dinner with my friend. She had spent $120 for a custom birthday cake for her husband's 40th. We had excellent service and the food was delicious. Trace was our waiter and we sat at table 15. We asked for half of the cake to be placed into the fridge at 9 PM when we went across the way to enjoy some of the live music. When we returned at 10 PM he informed us that the kitchen staff threw it out. Saying we had been away from restaurant for over an hour and a half. When we went to speak with the manager he had the waiter pull $60 out of his own pocket of tips to pay back for the mistake. Which was no a bad move on the manager. A rather "poop" thing to do to his innocent server. This review is negative because this was no fault of waiter Trace. The manager could have offered a gift card so we all could have come back at a later date for dessert on them. I do not agree with them punishing the waiter who was not at fault.

Came out to celebrate a birthday with my family. Ordered a 20oz ribeye cooked medium and I had been looking forward to it all week. That was the end of what I thought would be a nice birthday celebration. The Steak came out rare and cool/cold in the middle. I pointed it out to the waitress and she quickly took it back to cook right. When it came back a quarter of the steak (where I had cut into it to check if done) was missing and it looked like it was now torched and crispy. I pointed out that I now had a burnt steak and the waitress profusely apologized and took it back. The Manager Gene then came out with the steak and told us they cooked it right the first time and that if we wanted another steak they would charge us for an additional steak. So my $42 steak would become a $84 dollar steak if I still wanted to eat. After Gene argued with me, as if I’d never eaten/ ordered a steak before, I told him we didn’t want to buy another steak and that I would not be paying for the smoldering hockey puck he wanted me to eat . He said he would do me the favor of removing it from my bill. I was lucky enough to be able to catch the owner on site and decide to speak with him about the issue. He kind of apologized, then tried to change the subject to the amount of out of state people in town. He asked that we not allow this negative experience to reflect on his business and I told him that whenever management initiates conflict and seeks out the chance to argue with a customer there is something wrong with the business. The Owner didn’t try to fix the issue either. So if you want steak with a side of drama or want to pay double the price to get it cooked right this is the place. Waitress was awesome …

Heard good and bad things about this establishment but I wanted to find out myself… well that ship has sailed. I called in to place a to go order and began placing my order which would consist of 5 or more items. A lady answers the phone and after 4th item I’ve told her I’d like to order she interrupts and tells me she’s getting another call and proceeds to hang up on me… Needless to say I did not receive a call back but that wouldn’t persuade me to do business here. Unprofessional at its finest! I will stick with Las Brisas as I know they offer top notch service and food.

Ate here Thursday night, not thrilled with bland, lean steak. Now, before I say what I'm about to say, I am not being petty or making this up. I just left Golden Corral and the buffet sirloin was way better that the ribeye i just had here.

First time. Good atmosphere, I like the style, great service, but the steak experience was a total fiasco. I ordered the 1" ribeye cut, it looked nice but after few bytes in I realized is actually rare in the middle and not medium as I initially ordered. The waitress took it back and she said she will fix it. What they did they threw it back on the grill and brought back. Now the steak was well done, absolute disaster. I told them I can't work with that and the waitress said she will bring another steak. 20 minutes later another stake came and to my surprise I got downgraded to the 10 ounce version from the 16 ounce 1" which I initially ordered. My family was there, I was just embarrassed and just didn't want to fight it. So yeah, that is one good way to lose a customer for life. Mistakes happen but your unwillingness to take responsibility for your mistakes and fix it, speaks volumes of your value system and customer service. I work for money as well and for a $37 steak I expect the right value and service. I will not come back again and take my $$$ somewhere else.

1-2-26 - 6:00 pm - place half full - party of 5 - seated immediately - they leave us sit for 21 minutes - people running around & standing around everywhere - our waiter - little squirrel boy - had walked by us 3 times - doesn’t say a word - then brings us some bread - says he will be right back - told him don’t bother - Waste of a drive - if your gonna spend 300-400 on steaks - might as well do it in town - and get actual service - where they appreciate it.

Decided to close without notice or update on website. Nothing on Instagram OR Facebook OR google. Completely unprofessional. It’s a Tuesday on a NON-holiday. Thanks Cagels for ruining a family dinner. And no answer on the phone. Overrated restaurant.

Awful, just awful! No customer service and this includes the owner, she was just as unfriendly. Food is very bland. I will say the steak was the only thing with any flavor and it was good. Got zingers and the bacon was raw, baked potato was super dry and so light on the toppings, for 100 BUCKS yeah things should have been way better!!! Super loud and the staff just seems so unhappy, never will I go back.

This was our first time here. We both ordered filets medium rare. When they arrived my wife’s was med well. Mine was well done all the way around with a pink center the size of a nickel. So out of an 8oz steak about 2oz was edible. I told the waiter it was our first visit and asked if my steak was the normal way they cooked it and he said, “yeah, pretty much.”. He took my wife’s back and she didn’t want another one based on seeing mine. They brought her a peach cobbled for the “inconvenience “ and that was really good. Unfortunately it was the only thing that was. The bread was a cold “chunk” that was average tasting. There was also cornbread I didn’t try. The beans was just that. like a pot of beans with no real flavor that needed at least salt and would have been much better with some little pieces of meat or something in it. The salad was giant pieces of lettuce that I had to pull out the inedible pieces. The next day we went to Tx Roadhouse because I wanted a filet I could eat. It was cooked to perfection and everything was great from the hot bread to the awesome sweet potato and was literally half the price. We will never, ever eat at Cagels again. Such a disappointment.

Overall experience was not pleasurable. I’ll start with atmosphere—outside and bar area was wonderful-fun, cute and very enjoyable. Inside was a let down—did not match the outside vibe. It was very loud-making it hard to have a conversation with people at our table and it was FREEZING 🥶 in there. Service—VERY SLOW-took 45 minutes to get our food. Our server herself was new- so we gave her grace—but, many things were wrong or forgotten. For instance-we all ordered entrees that the menu clearly states comes with a side and complimentary beans—no one was served any beans. Food—if you’ve ever eaten a good steak—you quickly realize they don’t know how to cook a good one here. Mine was like shoe leather and I ordered medium rare. The chicken fried steak ribeye was overcooked and possibly in old grease. The catfish tasted like mud and the chicken fajitas tasted like they were straight from the frozen section of Walmart. Overall, our dining experience was not a good one and we won’t be returning.

1st time there, after being told this was the place to go for steaks. Drove 2 hours for a very sad experience. Ordered the largest steak (50.00.) To find out it was the smaller one, very small. Only got one refill because of how busy they said they were and couldn't find a pitcher of tea. Took our ketchup away twice, apparently we were sharing with other tables. Didn't get all we ordered, so we thought it would be best to pay and go on our way. $155.00 later. Disappointed, a little embarrassing and too much money for that experience. No fuss no drama, just know you may not get what you pay for.

We were from oot and we wanted a nice place but didn't want to get all dressed up. We found this place and Texas Road House is better. When we first walked in we were greeted warmly but that ended their. Our waitress was very interested in hurrying up even after we told her we'd never been there. I ordered a steak and a salad salad was eight dollars it came with lettuce one cherry tomato one slice of cucumber and one ring of a purple onion and that was it. My state was cooked rare but not blue rare like I asked and this picture should show you that they were very skimpy on making our plates look nice. They also serve beans for free and they are free because they are very bland.Wish it was better!
