Opinions de Monomyth Coffee Lubbock
I am a sucker for Monomyth!! Their drinks are consistently good and I've yet to have one I didn't like. Hours aren't open super late so it's probably a better place to go for morning study times instead of the evening! Great service and super spacious! It's popular, so it's not always quiet, so I'd recommend hitting it at a weird hour or bringing some headphones!
This isn’t a coffee shop, it’s a coffee experience. Entering the realm of Monomyth is entering the realm of ecstasy. I actually experienced my own personal monomyth. What a trip. On a practical note, they had a friendly service and a wonderful environment.
Ordered a cold brew, a latte, a muffin and a rice marshmallow treat. Everything was absolutely delicious, my wife says it’s the best latte she’s had in a long time! That wasn’t even the best part, the service was incredible! The baristas are super friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations for our stay in Lubbock. This coffee shop is a MUST if you visit Lubbock. Oh yeah, the interior is spacious and inviting, plenty of room to work as well!
Had the overnight oats, blueberry muffin, and avocado toast. That's the best avocado toast I've ever had. I don't eat it often because usually it's pretty bland, but they seasoned it with chili flakes and dressed arugula. They have decaf lattes with almond or oat. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet like a lot of other places. Great quality.
This is a great coffee shop! The drinks here are great, the food is delicious, and the staff is exceptional. Ask for Tanner; he'll fix you up! PS: don't park in the large parking lot to the North. Don't even look at it. You will get towed before your coffee is finished brewing.
Coffee is phenomenal. I had an iced latte with oat milk and added a little of their sugar free vanilla syrup and it was delicious. The hubs got a drip coffee and he loved it. They only have a drive up window because of COVID (smart move) and the guy working the window was so nice. Definitely an awesome find in Lubbock on our way back home to Austin. Open a store in Austin!
Came for a weekend and came every single day because their coffee and service was so good! Their coffee is great, especially their cold brew cola which is unique and their kolache was one of the best I’ve tried. Their baristas are so kind and welcoming. I highly recommend!
My daughter brought me here after having such a great experience and it did not disappoint! Amazing coffee and lemon bars. Such a cute place. Will have to come back whenever we are in town. Highly recommend!
First time here and I do have to say they make the best Americano I have ever had. Will definitely be going back. Great service and very clean coffee shop.
Enjoyed a delicious lavender blueberry scone and a cortado. Cortado was a bit heavy on the milk, so it was a little more like a cappuccino, but still enjoyable. The lavender blueberry scone was truly one of the best scones I've ever had--honestly it was probably the absolute best scone I've had. Moist and delicious with wonderfully fresh blueberries, and delicious lavender seeds throughout. The scone alone was worth the stop by. Service was friendly and prompt, I look forward to stopping by again.
the atmosphere was very cozy and refreshing, i loved the setup. i got the iced vanilla bean latte, very delicious! the home made strawberry pop tart is a little on the sweeter side for my liking but still very delicious, but what stole the show was the churro bun!! hands down, 10/10 recommend! #feelinlikekeithlee (if yk yk😉)
Love this place and the people! Everyone at Monomyth is so friendly, and we enjoyed the best coffee in Lubbock at this place! My fiance and I especially enjoyed their espresso. Definitely give both their house espresso and their single origin espressos a try. Thank you Monomyth!!
My husband was in Lubbock for work and stopped in this place for a coffee. It was so good he bought a bag of whole bean and brought it home. BEST COFFEE EVER! We used to roast our own in small batches and this tastes just like it. PERFECTION!
Absolutely fantastic! I had a grapefruit drink, it was a summer seasonal drink with Tonic Water, espresso and grapefruit juice, sounds weird, but it is amazing!!! Great service and atmosphere!!! All 5 of us loved our drinks! I highly recommend! ❤️☕
The perfect coffee stop. Such a gorgeous spot for your morning routine with delicious breakfast options and pastries. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the team was really attentive and helpful, and the coffee, tea, and food was deeeeelish. 10/10 would recommend.
Best coffee experience in Lubbock, great location near TTU
My favorite coffee shop in Texas, top 5 in the world! Monomyth has incredible coffee and fun drinks, but it’s more than just a good cup. They have totally curated the feeling of a warm hug from an old friend into a coffee shop. Every thing is so intentional about this place and everyone who walks in the door feels it. Places with coffee this good can get super pretentious really fast, and this crew has always kept things friendly and inviting, no matter you knowledge. I travel internationally a lot and really no place can compare to Monomyth when it comes to inviting people in and serving high quality beans. Try a cold brew cola if you’re feeling adventurous! (:
Went here with a friend to get drinks and chat. It was great! It's such a small shop, but the barista was super friendly and helped us pick out our drinks. The baked goods were delicious, and he brought it right over to our table. Really enjoyed this little coffee shop! Good pricing too, we didn't spend very much at all but got full drinks. I didn't end up liking my drink, but that's because I chose something new that I wasn't sure of anyways-- I think herbal tea is more my thing, but I'm not upset at all with the place because I chose it. The one thing is that we got paper straws, which I am not a fan of because they quickly start to be disruptive to enjoying a drink, but that doesn't take a star off for this place.
Very impressed! Not only did they have wonderful coffee but their staff was extremely kind. Definitely will be back!
The environment and coffee is great! Definitely quiet enough to have conversations with people without yelling, but loud enough to have that coffee shop white noise. Service was amazing! Friendly and super cool! They know their stuff and are clearly passionate about what they do! Definitely go!
A cut above the rest in the area. Was in town from Phoenix, which has a lot of third wave shops and this shop felt comfy and inviting. Coffee was great, vibes are on point and the place was super clean and roomy. Felt like I was in Nashville, which is home to all of my favorite coffee spots. If I’m ever in town again I’ll be sure to stop in for another drink.
It was voted best coffee shop in America 2 years running.
Stopped by to warm up on a snowy day. I told the cashier that it was my first time and she gladly introduced herself, welcomed me, and provided recommendations. I ordered a latte and a scone, they were absolutely delicious!! The coffee shop had a lot of seating but I had a hard time finding where to sit, not surprised since it was really cold outside. They also had pretty good wifi. Will be coming back with friends!
Great coffee, great folks, and great vibe. Stopped through while traveling to get some caffeine and do a little work. The guys working were great and helped me figure out my WiFi issues and just friendly. Highly recommend making a stop through!
Amazing coffee, friendly baristas, and a great vibe. Easily the best spot in town!
I am just reviewing the coffee. I have never been to the actual café. It was an early morning in Lubbock, and I was preparing to do one of the hardest things I've ever had to do - move my child into a dorm 5 hours away from home, and leave her there. We were staying in a VRBO that we'd rented for the secure garage space, and in all the worrying about taking care of what my daughter needed, I'd forgotten to pack my favorite coffee with all it's little fancy dressings. I rummaged through the kitchen in the rental to find typical grocery store coffee....and then an almost empty white bag with red lettering. Something about chocolate and berry...yadda yadda. I opened the bag and it smelled pretty good so I decided to give it a shot. I set the coffee pot to brew then got ready. I came back to the finished pot, and poured myself a cup. Now, I typically drink my coffee with lots of milk and sweetener... anything to cut through the sharp, acidic bite. I had nothing but a packet of Splenda to work with. I added the packet, clinked the spoon around the cup a few times to dissolve the sweetener, and braced myself for the first bitter jolt...but it wasn't bitter - it was SMOOTH! The smoothest coffee I had ever had - was this really coffee? I didn't need creamer. And the flavors that came through - chocolaty, fruity deliciousness, I probably could have left out the sweetener. It was such a pleasant surprise, I grabbed the bag and committed the name to memory, "Monomyth: Champions' Blend." I vowed to order some as soon as the craziness of the dorm move in had passed and my regular life resumed. To the folks at Monomyth, thanks for making a product that was there for me when I'd forgotten to be there for myself. I'll have to visit the cafe the next time I'm in the 806.
This is such a breath of fresh air for Lubbock. The humble roots of Monomyth gives you more to love in addition to the curated drinks, both coffee and not. The WiFi here is great and keeps up with my digital needs. I've never not been greeted with a warm smile and "How's it going?". They handwrite messages on their cup sleeves that inspire, encourage, and celebrate every person that walks in the shop. The atmosphere is bright, crisp and clean with a hint of modern-retro decor. For Lubbock, this has proven to be a unique spot in a historic location with plenty of space and wonderful baristas.
I haven’t eaten the bites here, but I stop here for whole bean coffee every time I’m in LBK. Staff is friendly and loves to geek out on the coffee and processes! Lattes are killer and reasonably priced for the amazing quality.
I stopped in on my way out of Lubbock and loved it. Great coffee, staff were friendly and the kolache was great. Seemed to be well styled, with a lot of seating and great natural light. It was busy and there were a lot of folks there, but it didn't seem too loud. I'm taking this review too seriously, but truly, A+ all around.
Great spot with exceptional coffee. Drove through Lubbock and I’m grateful to have stopped here for the pit-stop, staff was very friendly and the coffee delicious. Shout out to Luke for welcoming us and for the top notch service!
The go-to coffee shop in Lubbock - great crafted espresso drinks. Lots of seating, tables are clean and lots of outlets for plugging in laptops
Great coffee of course but don't sleep on the other craft drinks like the lemonade. Delicious. Their sweet buns and kolaches are wonderful too!
We’re from Louisiana and was ridding through and needed some coffee. This place was an amazing choice. The guys up front were so nice and friendly and the coffee was amazing. I definitely recommend. Also the inside was so cozy and cute
My son brought me here when I visited him at Texas Tech. It's one of my new favorite coffee shops. Food was great and the employees were warm and friendly. Looking forward to my next trip to Texas Tech and visiting here
The best quiche I ever had. Coffee is really good
First time there and I was NOT disappointed with my pour over coffee. Can’t wait to go back and try more!
Incredible coffee shop! The man who made my coffee was so incredibly kind and took a few moments to talk to me and really personalize my experience. The maple bourbon latte was impeccably made and tasted extremely high quality, from the coffee beans to the homemade syrup. I’m a coffee connoisseur who is pretty devout to coffee without sugar and I would hands down suggest this. They made my day a brighter!
This is far and above my favorite coffee shop in Lubbock. The atmosphere is very chill, and there is always plenty of room to sit with great low-volume music playing while you wait for your order. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and service is always fast, but never rushed. Every espresso drink I have had has been made to perfection, and even their drip coffee is not an afterthought here, so expect anything you order to be delicious. They also roast their beans in-house and had one of the best blueberry forward Ethiopian varieties I have tried in recent memory. I recently had a great customer service experience with them when I ordered a mug from their website that ended up being out of stock, and one of the owners, Randall, contacted me to provide a refund and hooked me up with one of their service mugs at no cost to me. Monomyth truly does aim high in everything they do, so don’t hesitate to stop by when you have the chance.
Very good coffee. Only 1418 Coffee in Plano, TX (and Prosper, TX) is better than this. I’ve been to many little coffee shops with their own coffee and this is definitely in the top 2. Simple approach. Good price. I’m only in town for the week and I will definitely be back more than once.
As good as it can get! Simplicity with a cup of coffee! Tasted their Latte, it was perfect, and the Pumpkin Poptarts (kind of a toast) adds a nice combo with the coffee balancing the sugar and flavor, the taste of honey was the most satisfying part of that. Service was also cordial, Highly recommended!
Best Independent Coffee Shop according to USA Today Monomyth Roasters was ranked as the best independent coffee shop within the United States in one of the newspapers I don’t really read so I decided to give them a try. Turns out they’re local to the Lubbock area and only a 15 minute walk east on Broadway from Memorial Circle at Texas Tech. Going in, I was appreciative of their advice when it came to finding something full bodied but also light enough on the palate so I’d want to drink multiple cups. They recommended the El Nevado de Huila, a Colombian varietal blend harvested in the Southwestern volcanic soil of the country. The Panela is very front heavy but reminds me of a Pan Dulce from San Antonio. The peanut butter isn’t as noticeable but it rounds out the Panela so it’s not overpowering. The back of the throat is hit with the acidic sweetness that’s not astringent and very enjoyable. I used the James Hoffman ratio of 1/18 with my Aeropress and used water just off the boil. I don’t have a gooseneck kettle but I have gotten better at controlling the flow with a standard measuring cup. This is one of the few cups I’ve made where I haven’t wanted to add any cream. Overall rating: 10/10
Monomyth is my favorite coffee house in Lubbock. Delicious drinks, an array of sweet and savory foods, warm, kind baristas that seemingly greet each customer by name (including me, and I’m a newbie), a chill vibe and a charming location. It would be difficult to overstate how special it is. Wow.
Wow! Really solid cappuccino! I was very impressed. Definitely will be back when I’m in Lubbock! The winter hash was so good! I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but it was perfect! Good balance on flavors. I’d highly recommend it. I’m a bit picky band finicky on cups as a lot of shops just serve in paper. Not this place! My cappuccino was in a properly sized cup! Plus it’s in a neighborhood and not a strip mall. Love the old house interior. Well done!
Wowzers! Yes! I was able to order my favorite, Chai Tea with Oat milk, and then they made it dirty, damn, and delicious 😋 💙🥰It felt as if I were drinking a cup of love. Thank you, I tried to make the review match the love amount not sure if I did. Namaste 💯💙😋🧘♀️🙌🥰💯
Hands down best cafe in town. Been coming since I was a freshman and now coming back for my senior year I’d say it was one of the places I miss the most when I’m away. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is kind, and the coffee is great. No notes.
Great coffee and wonderful atmosphere. I love the fast and friendly service. Great selections !
The absolute best coffee in Lubbock. Baristas are experts at their craft and are always kind and pleasant. They roast their own beans to perfection and always have something fresh and new on the menu. I've been coming here since they first opened and have yet to have anything less than a stellar experience. I'd give them 6 stars if I could. Outstanding.
Great place to chill with great coffee. I personally got the latte with vanilla and lavender and I loved it
Very skilled and friendly baristas! The mocha and cortado are very good. Very cute interior with many little places to sit and enjoy a nice coffee.
Hands down the absolute best coffee shop in Lubbock. Any time we come into town, this is our first stop. The pour over is delicious and the baristas know what they're doing - they're very helpful, they offer advice, and they are as nice as can be. We've tried many different coffee shops throughout Lubbock, but nothing compares to Monomyth. I'll even add that most coffee shops I've been to in Dallas/Fort Worth (which is a ton) don't even compare to the quality of coffee I receive here.
Originally came that cafe because wanted to try its toasts. Unfortunately they did not make today. We tried its egg quiche and liked it! They were light and delicious! We also ordered latte signatures (ginger latte and hot choc peppermint). The place was spacious and a perfect place to study! The parking area maybe tricky.
In town for a spell, friend recommended Monomyth. I typically drink black coffee or cappuccinos, but decided to try the espresso solo, was not disappointed! Easiest shot I’ve had in awhile. Staff was very friendly and engaging. The only thing I would have changed about this experience is if I could buy retail. Love supporting local businesses, and they have excellent product!
I love this coffee shop. I'm moving to Lubbock soon, and every time I come into town I've gotta come in & get a cappuccino. The only thing better than the atmosphere is the coffee! My last visit I decided to try a pastry. I got the blackberry & lavender scone, and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend them to any one looking for the best coffee in town.
I had a terrific experience. The space is clean. Well maintained and clearly cared for. The baristas were helpful and NOT snooty about answering questions I had about their coffee. They were well-informed with their offerings. It was quiet enough to enjoy, but not so quiet we couldn’t have a private conversation. The ONLY bad thing is the parking. I found some, but it was crowded. NOT their fault. Just a warning.
The good: Reasonable prices, very nice staff, good good coffee. Nice atmosphere and more room/places to sit than I expected. I also enjoyed the coffee art. The cookie was sprinkled with salt and very yummy. The bad: The coffee and pastry I got (the quiche) were both not hot enough. I really can’t stand getting coffee that isn’t hot enough, because it gets lukewarm extremely fast. And the quiche was almost cold in the middle, so it was really not enjoyable at all. Also, not very many places to park. Overall, it was worth trying and I’d come back. Maybe I’ll ask them to make sure my coffee is hot next time, although I don’t feel I should have to.
Nice shop near campus, offering traditional espresso beverages, and what appear to be house made pastries. I didn’t try the food, but the pastry case did look enticing. Parking is mainly on the street, which I had no problem finding mid Sunday morning. The shop was extremely clean with a modern/fresh aesthetic. I ordered an iced americano, and while acceptable, I was hoping for more complexities from the espresso being that this is a craft shop offering their own brand of beans. Personally I would’ve appreciated more knowledge from the baristas regarding their espresso offerings - but ultimately they just seemed uninterested/unsure. Overall, decent coffee for west Texas but will likely try out some other shops for the remainder of my trip.
Let me explain the 3 stars. This was our 2nd visit to Monomyth coffee. If you want a latte (5 ⭐), these guys are great but if you want a drip, prepare to be disappointed. 😟I'm not sure if it was the bean/roast or if their coffee maker needed cleaning but I was not happy with my drip coffee today. I will be back if I'm in the mood for a latte. The staff is pleasant and service is exceptional and they have a great little shop.
The food is terrible and over cooked. The drinks barely taste good. No, I’m not expecting an overkill Starbucks drink. The atmosphere is appealing but the chairs are uncomfortable. The bathroom is out of date and too small and single use. It does have a baby change table. Outside seating is available.
They're obviously popular. Theres very limited seating as many people come to do work and visit, so we had to eat or pastries outside in the summer heat 🥵. But I think everyone enjoyed their drinks. My matcha was matcha-ing! Buy it did seem a little dusty in there. The plants could definitely be wiped!
Went here because of the great reviews. The three of us each had a latte. It was lukewarm and dilute. The chocolate muffin was tasty but fell apart at the first touch, making a mess. Hard to see what all the fuss has been about. Not worth a special trip from the west of town. There are many better coffee shops closer to home.
Didn't have drip coffee. How can a coffee shop not have drip coffee? And, only someone who doesn't drink coffee would think an Americano is a good substitute. Had to ask for a pour over which was very good actually. Who have loved cream but it wasn't out and i wasn't about to ask. Completely forgot my other drink order and then brought out the wrong drink after asking them about it. Lady said she would bring a refund which she didn't do. No food menu. Later saw granola on the counter which looked great! Overpriced. Great location and overall ambiance.
Great place to have a subpar cup of coffee and conversation. Great vibes not so great coffee.
This is a cute little coffee shop, indoor and outdoor seating. Items are over priced, food was good, simple, light. Service was good but very slow i would say we waited about 20 minutes to get our coffee after we ordered it. Coffee was not good, its probably one of the worst i have ever had. I was thinking that it might just be mine but my guest who ordered a different drink had a similar experience and didn't even finish their coffee. I don't know maybe the machines need to be cleaned maybe it was just a bad day. I don't know.
Coffee was very bitter and not made correctly. I only received 1 pack of sugar, which couldn't kill the taste. The staff was very nice but the atmosphere is to corporate.
