My favorite lunch restaurant on the island. I absolutely cannot resist the truffle fries whenever I go. Great staff and great atmosphere!
Love this place great drinks and excellent service! They have old fashioned’s on tap that are super good. Slightly off the beaten path! 906 rewards participants too! Great full menu. Awesome ambience on both sides. Outdoor seating is also available! Come, eat, drink, and have fun with the whole family!
Beautiful views, and good food. Highly recommend the pear salad. Kids loved the chicken nugget meals. All kids menu options were $10 and included fries. If you’re looking for a kid friendly spot, come here. Do NOT go to Millie’s.
After hiking most of the island my husband and I were famished. Getting back onto main street I just decided to ask a local worker where she liked to eat. She immediately recommended Mary's Bistro for their hand breaded chicken tenders. So, naturally we decided great that's the spot. We arrived and there was no wait which was perfect because it was on the later end of lunch time. Our waitress (Leanna) was very attentive and our drinks never went dry. I ordered the half order of the chicken tenders which came with fried (amazing), coleslaw (not your traditional and also amazing) and 4 chicken tenders (amazingly delicious and worth it) my husband got the special of the day which was a chicken salad on fresh sourdough but with a curry twist. Goodness it was delicious! Highly recommended for a lunch here on the Island.
Fantastic restaurant! We sat outside and it was very pleasant. Shout-out to our waiter Max who recommended awesome stouts to us! I recommend a the pecan salad and pimento mac'n'cheese (a half portion is still huge).
Had a very nice dinner here on Monday. They were pretty busy but we had reservations so were seated as soon as we arrived. Service was great, our server was very friendly and attentive. Placed our order and food came out quickly. I had whitefish and chips and it was excellent. Wife had schnitzel and she enjoyed it. We sat outside so we could enjoy the view. I highly recommend Mary’s Bistro Draught House!
This place will forever hold a special place in my heart and one of my favorite stops when visiting. Only stopped in for a quick drink waiting for the ferry back to the mainland. Atmosphere was fun and energetic as they had live music. Bartenders and servers were warm and friendly. They had a great selection of beers on tap as well as bottled/canned, and had a good mix of cocktails as well.
The chicken tendies are all the rage! Lived up to the hype! The espresso martini was really good too. Our server Ryan was excellent. Awesome place! Came back the next night to try some of their array of beers. Many great options! Love this place
One of our favorites on Mackinac Island. Rotisserie chicken, Chicken Fried Chicken, and Pimento Mac and Cheese (GLUTEN FREE pasta option- woohoo!!) are our go to here!
This one one of our favorite meals on the island. We came due to the reviews. We were able to get a reservation quickly and were seated fast. The service was good and the food was outstanding. Chicken pot pie, soup and two pizza split for a small family of 4. Everything was fantastic, great views and we got right to the ferry to get back to the city. It was perfect!
After a long day on the island me and my bf wanted to grab a drink by the water. As you can imagine this is a bit difficult on a Saturday night on Mac Island. Mary’s was our final shot of trying to sit by the water and we ended up being so glad every where else was full. They had a wait as expected but the staff recommended we try the outside bar and it ended up being the perfect spot. We had lots of drinks and some great apps. The bartender Jesus was probably my favorite bar tender I’ve ever had and made us feel like old friends. Will definitely be returning. P.S. Make sure to get the Michigan 75 and the bread board.
We went earlier this week for dinner, we had a party of 8, and we were able to sit outdoor. The food and drinks were excellent (everyone enjoyed what they ordered), the best we had on the island and we ate out 3 times per day, for the 4 days we stayed, so we tried many places. Our waitress was cheerful and fast (refreshing!). Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
Good food with great atmosphere specially outside with the awesome lake view. We ordered fish&chips and burger, they were both good, nothing really special but ok, nothing to complain, I’ve had much better fish&chips and Burger in many other restaurants; honestly, I was expecting better taste of fish in the restaurant in an island. Truffle fries was delicious. Anyway, we enjoyed our lunch.
Get the fish and chips. My whole table ordered different things and when we saw the fish and chips we all just wanted to eat that. The rest of the food was good. The fries were delicious, but the fish - it is destination food. The service was fast, friendly, and kind to children. Highly recommend this place, it was the best restaurant we ate at downtown.
Mary’s Draught House was a treat! The food was great, the atmosphere was nice and we were taken care of very well. We sat by the window and loved watching the boats, highly recommend this place when visiting Mackinac Island!
BLT+A was excellent. More of an upscale sit-down restaurant on Mackinaw Island. Order champagne if you like. Plenty of indoor seating and some patio seating.
Very nice restaurant. I seen it was rated #18 on trip advisor but they’re obviously “trippin” about that. The food here was delicious. I had the white fish dip and gulf shrimp fettuccine. I also had thee best waiter on the island whose name is Daniel. His bosses obviously owe him a raise! He was so knowledgeable about the menu and about the whole island. He greeted us with a smile and a sweaty forehead (which showed he was hard at work). I also ordered an old fashioned which didn’t taste the best but it was strong so how could I complain 😅. The whole restaurant was clean, our table was a lil wobbly(which I fixed with a napkin), and the soft music in the background set the vibes to perfection. If you come here I suggest you ask for Daniel to be your waiter… I recommend this place to the whole world.
Great food and service. Waterside seating. Open view kitchen. Fast service. We had the Wild Mushroom pizza which was amazing, the lemon added the perfect twist in flavors. We also had the Truffle fries, I love truffle.. I am usually not too fond of Truffle fries as they often don't have the right amount of truffle. These were the best truffle fries I've ever had. Finally, we tried the whitefish pate which was also very good. Overall, would recommend trying this place even though it is a bit pricey as is everything on the island.
Tonight was the 4th time I have been to Mary’s Bistro since I arrived on the Island. My husband and I stopped for a quick bite the day we arrived and had their chicken tenders. They were amazing! And our waitress was great. She had just arrived to work the rest of the season, but she was quick and already knowledgeable about the menu. I went a couple of days later with family that had come over for the day, we were a party of 8. We sat outside on their patio and we had beautiful views. The food came fast and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. We came the next day and sat at the bar and just ordered drinks and an appetizer. The bartender was quick and we enjoyed our time sitting at the bar. The next day we went for dinner with friends, we were a party of 7 and sat on the patio. I had been wanting to try their pork chop schnitzel, but it’s only offered on their dinner menu. You will not be disappointed! It was absolutely perfect! And I followed it up with their bread pudding. The waitstaff was amazing and so attentive every time we went. I can’t recommend this place enough.
We have a house on the Island and hadn't been to Mary's Bistro in quite a while. We had the BBQ pizza, the Hawaiian pizza, the pot pie, and the whitefish and chips to go along with soft pretzels and poutine. Very good and very reasonable. Mary would easily make my recommend list.
Great location right next to Shepler's ferry on the waterfront with beautiful outdoor seating. Food is delicious. Especially the very tender chicken tenders !! Highly recommend the whitefish dip and cheese curds as well.
This was our favorite meal on the island. My husband and I both had the fish and chips which were excellent! We did 2 flights of beer so we could try different varieties. They were all great! We had a blast here and highly recommend it!!! We also had an amazing view and our server was great. I wish I remembered his name. He was really fun and had recommendations for beers to try.
Excellent fish dinner. Fresh fish and homemade Cole slaw. Best fried fish I had on the island. Butternut squash soup was a big hit. Decent prices. One of the best places we found for a good meal on the island.
The food is so delicious! We sat outside on the lake. The staff is super friendly. Our waiter was great. I recommend eating here! The cheese curds and truffle fries were soooo good!
Great drinks and “chicken tendies”. We happened in for the “Bourbon Slushy” (yum) and were charmed by Cidy, the bartender. And great atmosphere and location had us come back later that same day! Great place!
A unique view of the lake from the restaurant makes the experience phenomenal. On top the food is also fantastic. We had vegetarian dishes and both were tasty!
Absolutely fantastic service , scenic view and delicious food makes Mary’s bistro a must-go restaurant in the Mackinac island. The bar attendant Angel and our dinner server Luke were simply amazing.
Food was excellent, pretzels were soft and beer cheese was amazing, burger was cooked perfectly, lots of draught beer, overlooking the lake. Rachel was an amazing waitress.
Charcuterie oats filled a void, and the beer we had at the bar earlier in the day & at dinner were great - over 49 beers on tap. Can’t find a beer, they make any cocktail you want. Waterfront seating, bar or indoors.
Stopped by for supper. Mom and I shared a fish and chips. Plenty for both of us. Food was tasty and properly prepared and served. This was my half. Our server, Natasha, was very pleasant and prompt. And my sangria was also excellent.
Great view from the deck, awesome waiter. Eat the pretzels, truffle fries, and apple pecan salad! Best cheese curds ever!
Great service and great drink selection with a nice view. Loved the waitress Jennifer she knew her stuff and made great recommendations that we loved.this place was so amazing I had to share here and on yelp, so no one would miss out on this great restaurant!!
The Homestyle Chicken Pot Pie is fantastic! Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Great deck overlooking the harbor. Nice window if dining indoors. Terrific beers on draft! Highly recommend!
If you’re on Mackinac Island and skip Mary’s Bistro, that’s on you. The views? Gorgeous. The cocktails? Pure genius—like someone sprinkled creativity with a splash of sass right into the shaker. Angel deserves a halo for the way she takes care of guests, and shout-out to all the rockstars whose names start with Ma—apparently that’s the secret ingredient around here. Service with personality, drinks with a twist, and scenery that makes you want to linger way too long. Mary’s isn’t just a stop, it’s an experience.
Loved our experience here! Definitely recommend going, and we will be eating here next time we visit. The chicken pot pie was SO GOOD, I couldn't stop saying how good it was when I was eating it. My husband got the thin crust margherita pizza, and really liked it as well. Our service was great as well! The waiter was knowledgeable, gave good suggestions/input, and was very down to earth. The wait for our food and drinks was super quick-which was nice because we showed up very hungry. We made a reservation, but it seemed like walk ins were available as well.
Wanted to give 5 stars when I walked in, great views and a cool vibe. But the mediocre food at a high price point and ambivalent staff meant I had to go for a 4. But this has been sort of the norm on the island, overpriced but average.
I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. Of the four dishes my wife and I tried over two visits we did not find one we didn't like. First visit we shared the Smoked Whitefish Dip and the Wild Mushroom Thin Crust Pizza and thought both were delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. The only tiny thing was the table location (see pic below). If the gas containers HAVE to be stored there, don't put a table next to them. Shift the table three feet to one side or the other. Luckily, during the second visit we had a much better view. The lamb burger I had was cooked perfectly and my wife loved the mustard sauce with fennel seeds on the kielbasa. Again, definitely worth visiting if you come to Mackinac Island.
The food was delicious!!! Couldn’t wait to taste it before taking photos. The view outside wasn’t as great as I hoped but it’s much less crowded out on the deck than inside. Much quieter too. I ordered the greens salad (lots of lettuce) with grilled chicken and my son ordered the BBQ pizza. Just FYI, we were charged for extra ranch with appetizer. And they don’t have a pay from your phone option; you have to hand over your card.
Food was pretty good! I would give it 5 stars but it was rather overpriced. Paid over $80 for a bread board and two salads with chicken. I understand everything on the island is somewhat pricier but this seemed extraordinarily pricey for what it was.
This is a nice restaurant with good food. The burger was wonderful and the employees were friendly. It's always rather busy, but the food is some of the better food I've had on the island. The pretzels were good, although the beer cheese had horseradish in it, so it may not be for everyone.
Husband and I ate dinner inside. (Inside seating for the full menu. Outside seating gives a limited menu) Service was good, food presentation of both pork chop and spitfire chicken was excellent. I only gave 4 stars because prices were a little high for the average amount of food. Both dinner plates were over $20, left a little hungry!
We spent the night at the island so we went to Mary’s Bistro twice. The food is amazing and the service is good as well. I am not giving it a 5 bc both times we weren’t able to get the closest lake view. My husband and I are too introverted to ask if we could sit closer when we saw an empty table. Other than that is very good and I would totally recommend it there.
Stopped at Mary's Bistro while vacationing to Mackinac Island with my husband. We had just arrived to the Island from Sheplers Ferry and wanted to stop for birthday drinks (was my hubby's bday) and some appetizers before we biked/skateboarded around the island for his birthday! We ordered the Draught House Soft Pretzels with their home made horseradish beer cheese. The dip, was so rich, creamy and flavorful and the pretzels were hot, soft, the perfect amount of salty and were just super delicious! I ordered a Mudslide and my Hubby had a Short's Brew Soft Parade fruit beer. Great atmosphere and friendly staff!!
So good we went 3 different times over a 2.5 day period. The truffle fries are delicious and almost a meal by themselves
Great location and good service. Food was decent but the cocktails were too watery. I guess we'd have enjoyed the beers more. Loved our seating outdoors by the lake.
Nice views, fantastic (wow) slushy-tea-fruit-alcohol drink, good whitefish dip, okay soft pretzels with cheese. Pricey at $60 for two drinks and two appetizers. The experience with the hostess was interesting. We had not decided if we would have food or drinks or both, and as such were banished to one of about six chairs at the outdoor bar. We sat at a table, contemplating an appetizer in order to 'qualify' for the table. I get it...."rules". The hostess came out very concerned.....I mean VERY concerned.... restating the rules and suggesting the four of us go to the bar. Then she told the waiter, who further admonished us. I kidded with the waiter stating I was a former EMT and if the hostess was showing signs of further physical distress over our indecision, perhaps I could treat her until the pros arrived. Clearly, these people are getting scared to death by management about the seating policy, and are doing their level best to comply, but......at 4 PM on Sunday with the place nearly empty, it might be better to lighten up a little. The outdoor tables were never 1/4 filled, the bar sat mostly empty, and when we left the preciously-guarded empty outdoor tables were blocked off by a rope. I've been in customer service, I get the value of tables with a view.....but for goodness sake, take a deep breath and think before lasting impressions are left that completely override the experience you are trying to create for your guests.
The food was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. I went with the chicken tenders, which the restaurant is apparently known for. They had noticeably more flavor than the other dishes at our table, which was surprising. For instance, the pulled pork grilled cheese lacked a lot of flavor you’d expect from a proper grilled cheese, and came off a bit bland in comparison to the chicken tenders. The portions were pleasant though! The view from the outdoor seating area is definitely a plus, but the heat made it unbearable, so we sat inside. The indoor atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was friendly and attentive, which helped balance the experience.
As a vegetarian, I found the choices lacking at this restaurant. The food tasted pretty good but I gave it 3 stars because of the cost value. Grilled cheese without the pulled pork was good but still $19. Truffle fries that didn’t taste truffly for extra $5. In addition the wild mushroom pizza was overpowered by the lemon oil and just tasted lemony for $22. Service was friendly but the restaurant was very dark and gloomy with a great view of the harbor - I really wanted to give this 3.5 stars
The first time I dined at Mary’s I was blown away, I dined in and I ordered the full order of chicken tenders ($25 before tax.) They were great quality and my jaw actually dropped at the amount of food you got/how good it looked. Then the other day I went back and ordered the same exact meal to go. When I got home I found that they had given me what would be considered a half order of obviously smaller tenders. The full order is $5 extra so that was honestly frustrating, it kind of felt like they knew I was not likely to come back and complain since it was taken to go. That left a bad taste in my mouth despite them clearly having great food. I’ve attached photos of both meals so you can see the difference, maybe stick to dining in here.
Ummmm...... A little disappointed with our experience here. First I asked we could be seated by the windows. Without missing a beat the hostess said "no, there isn't room". There were 2 tables available and they didn't seam to be reserved based on the way they seated the next two groups at those tables. I could overlook that but then our waitress wasn't listening when I ordered salmon and brought out White fish and chips. Again, somethings that's understandable but there was never an apology and she even tried to convince me I ordered fish and chips. It was kind of comical actually. When I finally did get the salmon there was no apology. Just need to work on the service a little. Food was pretty good and atmosphere was nice.
