Great dinner experience overall. The restaurant was not too busy, the waitress took care of me quickly and the service was fast. The chai was freshly brewed and not overly sweet. They served fresh bread with a very garlicky dip while waiting — the bread is made in an open oven and tastes great. If you like garlic, the dip is excellent. Also, they offer lentil soup or salad, I went with the soup which was excellent. I ordered lamb chops with rice. The lamb chops were outstanding — tender, well-marinated, and full of flavor. The rice was too soft for my taste, so next time I’ll go with fries. I also really appreciate that all the food is halal, clearly stated right on the menu cover. Beautiful décor and a very clean restaurant. I loved the wall decorations and overall design. The music is not loud, which I really appreciated. The lighting is well designed, though for my personal taste it was a little too bright with many lights around. Still, a very pleasant atmosphere. I’d definitely come back again.
Just had lunch here for the first time. Would highly recommend!! Absolutely delicious. Pita bread is incredible. You can tell a lot of care goes into this place! Great service and over all experience. Can’t wait to come back for dinner!
Though the main dishes are expensive, you could probably easily get two or three meals out of them. They do have cheaper options for pita wraps and stuff. The bread and the garlic dip are amazing! I got the zesty garlic and almond rice ghallaba. It's was good and as our waiter described it "about the spiciness of a jalapeno" and that was accurate. Would eat here again.
Quiet, clean, intimate this Mediterranean restaurant is very good place to eat chicken or lamb shwarma. Each entree comes w a side (rice or fries) and a pre-meal item (soup OR salad). We ordered rice and a salad. Our teens both ordered a pita dish w fries, the fries were very tasty, crispy (pls ask for ketchup as it is not on the table). I ordered the Lamb w Hummus and my dinner was very very good. The amount of food served is quite large, so be prepared to take some home. Better idea: share a meal and order a meal to take home. Dessert was a chocolate cake (our teens loved that!) and I ordered a plain cheesecake to go. Finally, go early in the week (Tuesday-Wednesday) as they can run out of lamb chops and swordfish. They have salmon, chicken and all shwarma meats a plenty. NOTE: My husband ordered a separate cup of soup also to try— the lentil soup was very very good, I should have ordered that in a bowl size or taken some home, the lentil soup was that tasty (you can taste the love!) Restrooms are clean and the Ladies room does have a wall changing station for babies. I recommend moms go here w their kids, it’s a nice and quiet place to unwind and get a heavy meal w leftovers for the next day’s lunch!
This place was very wonderful and had a magical atmosphere. Sammir was so pleasant and well informed on the menu. He was able to help me select a very delicious vegetarian dish (the veggie ghallaba.) their house made bread and garlic sauce were top tier high recommendations. The house dressing on my side salad was also chefs kiss. The restaurant was very clean and updated, the facilities were clean, and the food sizes were large.
We have visited this restaurant 3 times over several months. With each visit the food was superior. We were a party of 5 and ordered 5 different menu items. The only item that seemed to be pre-made were the French fries. The meat items, salad, pita, rice, hummus, and baba ghanoush all seemed fresh made. The meats were tender and well seasoned. somewhat larger portions. I wish they served 2-3 traditional beverage items. We will be back.
We ate here today for lunch and were so glad they had a lunch menu! The pita and garlic butter starter were super tasty. We ordered the baba ganoush as an appetizer, and let me tell you — it did not disappoint. My husband had the Lamb Kafta plate with rice and salad, and I ordered the fatoosh tawook feta salad with chicken. The dressings on the salad were flavorful and delicious. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Can’t wait to go back and try some of their other dishes!
The food, atmosphere, and staff are amazing! This is one of the only places in Huntsville/Madison where you can get shawarma, and it is so fire. The garlic sauce and pita is so fresh. The chicken shawarma salad was so good with a ton of meat. The chicken shawarma wrap was so good with the pickles and garlic sauce. I want more lol. The baklava was among the best I've had as well! The ambiance is great as well, with Mediterranean theming and music. I really felt like I was being cultured lol.
The bread and garlicky dip is Amazing. If you like Toom, the texture is similar but this one is more garlicky and feels more better. Service was fantastic. Salad was good, fresh, and refreshing. Lentil soup could have been spiced more. Spinach pies were not what I was expecting; not bad but not enough spinach for me. Came back and tried the zesty chicken ghallaba, it was Really good.
I came with my mom today, & this is definitely some of the best food in the Madison county area. Service was quick & efficient. Servers were polite & friendly, they were very attentive to our table. The lamb chops were cooked exactly how I wanted them & my mom really enjoyed the fries. As soon as they brought the bread to our table when we first sat down we knew it was going to be good. I definitely have to return with my friends, I’m missing it already & I just left. 11/10 :)
I recently revisited Al Shish Palace in January 2025. My family and I had eaten there approximately two years before and had a very enjoyable meal. My most recent visit I was surprised to see the inside had been totally renovated and has a much larger seating area. The food is still very well prepared and is full of flavor. Portions are large and have a traditional Mediterranean flair. I would highly encourage anyone wanting to try traditional Turkish or Mediterranean food to come to Al Shish Palace.
Wonderful Lebanese fair right here in Madison Alabama! Unassuming walk in with inside seating and take out options with a very long list of food options! Of course there’s kabobs but we went with lamb hummus - delicious! - and tabbouli and chicken and rice/lamb grape leaves! Great food, delicious flavorful and lots of it. Wait staff were friendly, helpful and on the spot. Al Shish reminded me of the wonderful Lebanese food growing up in Peoria. You must visit!! Highly recommended!!
Mostly everything was delicious and very affordable. I loved the garlic and fresh bread 🍞 😋. I love the house salad 🥗. I enjoyed my Shawarma Sandwich 🥪 , it was ok but I have had better) and fries🍟 was great. My husband enjoyed his tawook. The Hummus seem to be missing something (lemon or tahini -- we couldn't pinpoint it 🤔)...but we enjoyed everything. Totally recommend for people to come and try out.
This one is a hard one to rate. Went here with the wife and child for lunch on a weekend. The place was pretty dead, but the staff was nice and greeted us immediately. We were the only customers. They serve Pepsi products and do not offer alcohol, but do have a large selection of fresh fruit juices. This is not a gyro place - if you want a gyro, you will be disappointed. This is an Mediterranean place that offers a lot of middle eastern dishes; pitas, shwarmma, hummus, tabbouleh etc. The meats are heavily spiced; they offer lamb which is nice. All the servings were huge when it came to rice and fries, you won't leave hungry. I didn't think the prices were bad ($50+ tip) for 2 adults and a kid; I ordered an extra pita to try out the Saiji beef. The spices and flavors are strong and might not be your cup of tea but the staff was super friendly and nice, they gave us fresh warm bread on the way out. Give it a shot.
So……we chose to dine in at this restaurant and I’m glad we did. The appetizer that they served was warm pita bread and a garlic spread which was delicious (my breath was funky until I was able to brush and rinse) and it added flavor to the other dishes too. We ordered the Shawarma chicken and the Chicken crème both with rice and one with a salad and the other with rice soup (add the garlic spread). Everything was good and plentiful. I’m big on service, it determines whether I want to come back and dine in……..the waitress was more concerned about her cell phone than the customers. There was a man that brought out the food and he actually took better care of the customers than the waitress…..so sad. The experience was pleasant and I would like to try more of the food, especially the Shish Kabob’s. Enjoy your visit.
Inconsistent quality. I have been to this restaurant repeatedly, because I love Mediterranean/Arabic food. The prices are pretty steep, so it’s important that one knows what they’re ordering will be as good as it was the time before. However, this time the falafel was overly spicy like jalapeño and the texture of the stuffed grape leaves was not palatable. The photos are of the amount of food we left behind uneaten. Don’t know why they put so many canned pickle chips on the plate. For the price I would expect some house made Arabic pickled vegetables. This stuff tasted like it came from Costco today.
Hands down the best kebabs in the Huntsville area. Don’t even waste your time looking for a better kebab. I already tried that. I’ve been wanting to try this place for such a long time but have been put off by the prices. I finally took out a second mortgage on my house so I could try these kebabs everyone is talking about. If you like garlic, do yourself a favor and get a bucket of the garlic sauce. It’s divine. Like I said, the kebabs were phenomenal. I also ordered the “fresh hot” bread that was neither fresh nor hot. I’ll definitely return, but probably only for the lunch specials due to the prices. Update: Returned for the more affordable lunch special. I really wish I didn’t. The beef was super dry. Portions were very small. Garlic butter tasted super sour. I’ve updated my rating to reflect the inconsistency in this places food. This is definitely not a place I will frequent.
Food is TERRIBLE. Like shockingly bad. We ordered chicken and lamb shawarma to go. It was bland and tasted like it was made days ago. No shawarma seasoning. Just rice and meat and they were both nasty. Somehow everything had this weird taste to it, maybe cardamom? but it was very off putting. Worst shawarma I’ve ever had.
