I'm giving 5 stars but I honestly feel this place is a little overrated. First of all, if you want to go here, make a reservation ahead of time! Second, just so you know, parking is $35 if you just go to the beach, OR its $8 with validation. You have to spend $30 in order to get your parking validated. It's really easy to do when burgers are like $20. (This is weekday pricing. I think weekends and holidays are $40 without validation.) THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD!!! So if you pull in, get a ticket, and decide it's too crowded, or you just wanted take out, you have to pay for parking, no matter what. They have cabana rentals starting at like $100 They do have very nice and comfortable Adirondack chairs in sets of two that are under umbrellas that are first come, first serve, and free. The food is excellent and the portions are very large. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were VERY clean. I was actually pretty shocked at how well kept and comfortable the bathrooms were. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the water is calm and blue. Even though I feel this place is overrated, I will probably go back and really enjoy myself.
One of my favorite places to eat when by the beach! The outdoor seating right on the sand is great! Such a beautiful view and the food is amazing! I ALWAYS order the steak, it's so flavorful and juicy every single time! The shrimp cocktail is also very delicious. There hasn't been a meal yet that wasn't appetizing! The drinks are also very good and worth getting! The staff is always so friendly and professional! The location is amazing! So nice to stand on the pier and just look out at the ocean or sit on the private sand beach and enjoy the day! Would recommend this place to everyone who loves good food and the beach!
Absolutely amazing! The three egg shrimp omelet is fluffy, filled with shrimp and cooked to perfection. The potatoes are crispy but not overdone and seasoned so as to not overpower the taste of the vegetables. The coffee (which I ordered black) is strong with no bitterness. The wait staff was generally attentive. A little longer wait to get the order started than I expected but the overall experience was excellent.
Paradise Cove is aptly named. The food is excellent. I've eaten here a few times and it's always, fresh and beautifully presented and prepared. The staff is attentive and friendly. And there isn't a better place to sit, eat and drink. My only issue is the 2 hour time limit. When you're eating, drinking and enjoying the space as it's intended, you shouldn't be rushed. I know there's a line, but I don't want to feel pressured into freeing the table for more. This is still one of my favorite ❤ places to go.
This place is absolutely one of the best cafe I’ve ever been to! Make sure to go here with your stomach empty because the serving size is huge! The calamari is cooked perfectly - not too chewy and it’s definitely flavorful. Chinese chicken salad is tasty as it got the perfect ratio of salad, meat, oranges, and noodles Clam chowder is okay - a little too creamy and the sourdough crust may be too hard, but overall it’s good. Whether you’re in the patio or indoors, the ambience is nice. Wait time is about 20 minutes for indoors and around 45 minutes for patio, so make sure to check-in/make a reservation before you take a walk by the beach! Parking is decent. With a minimum purchase of $35, they validate parking for you so you only pay $8 on weekdays or $10 on weekends. Definitely try this place out!
Just a great spot if you’re in the mood for the perfect beachside cafe. You smell the sea, the vibe is grindy in a very good way. This place has history. The food is very good for a beachside cafe. Most places cut corners because they can - you’re at the beach so stop complaining. Gotta say that the food here is very good. Not great, but better than most beach fare you’ll get anywhere else on the globe. Its especially great to visit if you’re from out of town and just want that lazy breezy Malibu experience.
Beautiful beach front restaurant. They have indoor and out door seating with great views. Staff is friendly and very on top of everything. Been here for dinner and they have amazing sea food. Just went for breakfast for the first time and boy was it delicious. We were in a group of 7 and all ordered different dished. Everyone loved there good. The dishes are higher price but for the potion i can see being worth it. The alcohol drinks are so good!! Highly recommend you try them. Overall very cute place for celebrate group a birthday to going on a date or if u just wanna eat will having ur feet in the sand. I will say it gets really busy so if u dont have a reservation get ready to wait a long time any time after the afternoon. The up side is you can wait in the beach. Not very busy for breakfast though. We waited just a few minutos and they was lots of space on a Saturday morning.
Beach side restaurant with a great view. You can choose to sit inside away from windy and heat. Or get seating outside and dip your toes in sand while you eat. You can watch surfer and enjoy a meal by the ocean. Be warned to walk slowly inside the restaurant as the floor is sandy. Food is a bit pricy. A glass of orange juice for $7.95.
Dining at this seafood restaurant right on the beach in Malibu was an absolute delight. The breathtaking views of the beach added an extra layer of charm to the dining experience, making it truly unforgettable. The food was delicious, with a variety of fresh seafood options to choose from, and the drinks perfectly complemented the meal. The service was attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of enjoyable. Whether you're sipping on drinks or indulging in appetizers, the views provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and enjoyable time. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy good food and drinks with a spectacular beachfront view.
Many different food choices including salads, seafood and meat - milkshake delicious - have to come back to try the cocktails. The beach vibe is unbeatable - beautiful views of the cove and surf. Can only recommend for a chill day out.
The BBQ quicken was very very delicious! Eating outside on the sand made this both different and makes you feel more connected to the outdoors! Some waiters have been there for 30 years ! That tells you something. Definitly going back again.
We stumbled upon this café by chance and were pleasantly surprised by its rich history. The sound of the ocean waves created a soothing atmosphere during our meal. Without expecting restaurant-level cuisine, we simply satisfied our hunger. The cost of the dishes seems to include a fee for enjoying this picturesque location.
Such a cute and relaxed atmosphere here. The service is very friendly and the drinks are very yummy. The food portions are very large, but also tastey. If you have a smaller appetite you could easily order one appetizer and tacos for two people, and keep the drinks coming 😉. Forgot to mention the beautiful malibu views. Thanks for a fun time!
The pancake breakfast tacos were SO DELICIOUS and filling - huge portion and could be shared by two. There is a paid parking lot which becomes cheaper through a purchase at the cafe - a good deal as you can stay up to 4 hours and explore the beach! Amazing views and family friendly atmosphere.
Honestly, it was pricier than I expected but totally worth it. The view, sample seating, for a seafood place it didn't smell, nice and clean, our waiter was amazing- truly nice and patient, accommodated our party, made pretty good recommendations for our plates. The dessert was delightful- have never seen such a huge piece of layer cake and each one of us got a layer; the cake was so moist and the right amount of sweet. A truly amazing restaurant and a must experience location.
First time visiting Malibu and we came across this little spot. It was AMAZING! The views are awesome from this beach, this restaurant was so so good and the staff really knew how to make us feel welcome! It really was quite the experience! Unfortunately it was fall so there wasn’t much going on but I’ll bet this place is hopping in the summer! I’d come and sit here all day every day just for the views!
05/22/2025 We went to the beach then we saw this place. We wanted to try their food so we ordered the BBQ Tuna melt, BBQ chicken breast, Old fashioned Fish 'n chips, Macademia coconut shimp, and Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. Everything was fantastic. The place itself is kinda class, it's next to the beach, the staff were very kind and the service was great.
This spot truly makes you feel like a DayCation. Right on the Beach. Great place for couples, family, and the kiddos. A place to do a little bit of everything. Walk along the beach, sit on a Cabana lounge area, walk on the small boardwalk area. Sip on a drink and just enjoy the sound of the waves. Dine in at the restaurant or if the weather permits it sit outside under the umbrella and take off your shoes on the Beach Sand over looking beach. Great service.
The ambiance is Southern California classic with ocean views and right on the beach. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I found it to be a bit pricey for lunch. The 4 of us shared an appetizer of calamari and each had an entree along with a cocktail. I loved the straws were made of pasta instead of paper. Our bill cost us a little over $400.00, including a 20% tip for excellent service. After lunch, we strolled along their wood walking path out front on the beach. We put our feet in the sand and got wet from a small incoming wave. It was a beautiful sunny spring day.
I needed a quiet peaceful place with an ocean view. My chair was at a table outside in the sand right next to the surface. I watched waves crashing into rocks. There is a pier next door. I had lovely cappuccino (2) and a plate of smoked salmon scrambled eggs. Unfortunately, it costs $10 to park there.
Was looking for a nice spot for lunch on our drive up PCH. This place popped up in a reddit thread for its nice private beach and good food. On vacation I always try to find a nice local place to eat at. If you're just coming for the beach parking is $60. If you visit the cafe they validate your parking for $15. We first explored the beach and then went and had lunch. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating that is on the sand. Of course we chose outdoor. I think the straws were made out of noodles which were different and impressive. I went with a chicken sandwich which was excellent. The portion was generous. My daughter had a burger that looked amazing. She also got a strawberry shake and her exact words were "this is the best shake I've ever had." Pricing wasn't bad. Customer service was outstanding. Our waitress was a real delight. I wish I remembered her name. If I am ever in the area I will definitely be back! It's a must stop.
Spending Mother’s Day at Paradise Cove Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The oceanfront setting was absolutely stunning perfect for celebrating such a special occasion. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and well cared for, even with the busy holiday crowd. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented especially the seafood dishes, which lived up to the restaurant’s reputation. We loved the relaxed beach vibe, and being able to stroll along the sand after our meal made the day feel even more special. Overall, it was a perfect way to honor and treat Mom. Highly recommend Paradise Cove for anyone looking to create meaningful, beautiful memories with loved one
We had a great experience at Paradise. We primarily went for the location on the beach and the ability to sit outside. It was a beautiful day and made for a memorable experience with friends. The food is plentiful and while not an elevated culinary experience, it is exactly what you would expect and we all enjoyed our meals. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a beach restaurant experience.
My husband and I came to this location to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing! The food tasted spectacular, the drinks were good, and the ambiance was just so relaxing. I got the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was bomb! They even bring the pot with extra chowder for you. My husband got the fish and chips and the fries were the best! They have indoor and outdoor seating, we went end of May so it wasn’t too busy so we were able to request outdoor seating and get seated right away. Overall great experience and we are definitely planning to come back again. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary one to remember 🥰
We had a wonderful time at Paradise Cove Beech Café. We went for happy hour .The cocktails were beautifully crafted and made by Lindsey and she also provided top notch excellent and very friendly customer service our entire time there. It is also a private beach that you are allowed to drink on for an additional price. Such a beautiful beach and experience. We will be back again soon. Thank you. 😊
Paradise Cove holds a special place in my heart. Dining with your feet in the sand while watching the ocean is an unforgettable experience. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the price is absolutely fair — every penny spent here is worth it. It can get crowded on weekends, so outdoor seating may be limited, but there’s usually space inside or at the bar. Just watch out for the birds — they can get sneaky! Still, it’s one of my favorite places in Malibu. Highly recommend!
Dinner was a treat. The time was 730pm..booking. Kylie attended our table.all dishes were big size...there was a kids menu...simply razing views...beautiful beach...194 seating capacity..attractive photographs displayed all over. The coleslaw was fresh...chips and glucamolie..shrimps and salad...The drinks were good too including the coconut boba tea. Toilets were clean...parking is subsided to 15 instead of 65...so it helps tipping...The dinner experience was worth it.
This is a great place to have a scenic cocktail on the beach. You can sit at tables with your feet in the sand or in chairs along the shoreline. If you prefer to be inside with a view there's lots of indoor seating and a bar with a large TV. Great cocktails and the clam chowder was amazing. The price reflects the scene but for a treat it's worth it.
It’s a great deal to have Malibu experience here. We get the beach, pier, and the restaurant. The food price is not cheap but the portion is pretty big and of course it’s Malibu. The fried calamari & clam chowder are good to start with as they’re good and the portion is generous. Our highlight is the jumbo shrimp scampi because it’s very delicious and as they said, the portion is huge. The linguine is ok but the seafood come with it are actually tasty. In the end of the day, we only need to order 3 main course for 6 people so it’s still a good deal, especially combine with the whole package
Really loved this place. Location is perfect. Sat at the outside tables in the sand and watched the surf. The fish tacos and the tuna poke were excellent. Yes, it's priced at the higher end for a casual spot, but the quality was first rate and the portions were generous. Given the prime location, you can expect to pay a little more. Also note that parking is extra ($10).
Listen. I have celebrated some of the most important moments of my life at this place and there is a reason I keep coming back. There is a reason this is my non-negotiable LA go-to every single time. You do not stumble upon Paradise Cove, you claim it as yours, and then you never let it go. From the moment you descend onto that beach and the smell of the Pacific Ocean hits you, something shifts. The world gets quieter. Your shoulders drop. A cocktail finds its way into your hand almost magically and suddenly you are sitting in the sand staring at one of the most breathtaking stretches of coastline on the entire planet wondering why you ever stress about anything at all. The food matches every bit of that energy, fresh, satisfying, and served with the kind of laid back California soul that makes everything taste better. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, it all hits differently when the Pacific Ocean is your dining room backdrop and your feet are buried in the sand. This is Malibu at its most iconic. Movie stars, billionaires, families, first dates, milestone birthdays, everyone belongs here and everyone leaves happy. No attitude, no pretension, just pure unapologetic Southern California paradise on a plate. If you have not made Paradise Cove your place yet, I feel sorry for you. Go. Now. You can thank me later. 🌊
We had the most amazing time at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe! 🌊☀️ The food was fresh and absolutely delicious, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the oceanfront views made everything even more special. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy great vibes, and soak in the beauty of the beach. We can’t wait to come back!
Paradise Cove Café — where Malibu’s past and your calorie count collide in glorious harmony. This spot isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a Hollywood veteran. Beach Boys sang here, movie stars filmed here, and I’m pretty sure half of California’s postcards were shot from this exact deck. You come for the history, stay for the cocktails, and leave questioning your life choices after finishing a portion big enough to feed a surf team. Yes, it’s a bit pricey — but so is everything that comes with a side of private beach and Pacific Ocean pop-culture nostalgia. Pro tip: grab a margarita (or michelada), dig your toes in the sand, and pretend you’re in a 1960s music video. Everyone else here is doing the same
This place is surprisingly good for a touristy beach restaurant. The menu is chaotic. Huge fonts, bright colors, looks like a chain letter email you forward to avoid 7 years of bad luck. However, the portions are HUGE. And the food was great! We sat outside in the sand and listened to the big waves crashing on the shore. The service was good. The food was tasty. Not crazy busy at lunch time but I can imagine this place turns up at night. Highly recommend! Also! Make sure to validate your parking ticket or you’ll have to pay the beach parking rate!
Wow…just wow! This is a gem of a place! Across the board it was a 10/10 (with the exception of having to pay $10 for parking). The drinks were fun and themed, the food was incredible, and the view is unbeatable. We got a piña colada and an original mojito. And the ahi tuna and tacos (the grilled fish and carnitas were the best of my three). If you’re uncomfortable with birds at your feet, maybe sit inside. But I just loved kicking my shoes off and having my feet in the sand. I would definitely go back!
Beautiful Bay View & Great Cocktails This place has a fantastic location with stunning views over the bay. The food and cocktails are excellent, and the interior is full of historic photos that give the place real character. Service is friendly and quick. Just one tip — the seagulls sitting on the umbrellas can get a bit too interested in the seafood dishes (we saw it happen at a few nearby tables), so maybe choose wisely when ordering!
Beautiful oceanfront spot with a relaxed Malibu vibe. The atmosphere is truly the highlight, dining right by the water makes the whole experience feel special. The food was fresh and well prepared. We especially enjoyed the calamari and the salad generous portions and great flavors. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times. One thing to keep in mind parking can be quite expensive. Even with validation, it was $65 for a stay of four hrs or more, so plan accordingly. Overall, a lovely place to enjoy the view, unwind, and have a casual beachside meal. Just be prepared for the parking fee.
We visited Paradise Cove Beach Café on a rainy morning, and honestly, it was a great experience. Parking was surprisingly easy, though keep in mind it’s still $10 with validation. On sunny beach days, expect parking to be much more limited, so plan ahead. Inside, the café is beautifully done up with a lot of character. The walls are lined with fascinating photos—famous visitors, vintage shots of the area, and other interesting pieces that give the place a nostalgic yet lively vibe. The menu itself feels like a classic dive bar menu, but don’t let that fool you—it offers plenty of options. We ordered pineapple juice and the Malibu Country Breakfast. Everything was super tasty and well-prepared. While the breakfast isn’t the most visually stunning compared to some trendy spots, the flavor more than makes up for it. Pair that with an amazing oceanfront view, and you’ll understand why we were so impressed. Bottom line: Great food, unique atmosphere, and unbeatable views. Just keep the parking situation in mind if you’re visiting on a sunny day.
Quick warning: They use pasta straws for their drinks, so be aware if you have an allergy. If you let waitstaff know, they can generally accommodate your dietary restrictions. We had a fairly large group, but Paradise Cove was able to accommodate us no problem. Food was amazing (it is on the spendy side, so I'd say it's more for special occasions). I had the jumbo shrimp scampi while other family members had the shrimp tacos, clam chowder, and seafood linguine. We also ordered a few desserts including the giant piece of chocolate cake that fed over 10 people (we still had leftovers, but one of the best chocolate cakes ever). They had us outside in booths where you step right into sand upon leaving the table if you can imagine. The view from our table was incredible and it was just a short walk away from the beach. Everyone enjoyed the food and view so much, many already have plans to go back there at some point. We will be coming back here for sure for more family celebrations. One thing I wish would be addressed is the design of the menu. The design for the menu is so busy that we all had trouble figuring out where to look between all the color changes and extreme use of bolding. The place itself is relaxing, but the menu design doesn't quite reflect that so I would suggest a change in menu design.
Good restaurant vibe with amazing outdoor seating options. Right next the great Pacific with amazing drinks options. As you can see in the pictures, the drinks are creative and fully loaded. As for the vegetarian option, just like other places this place has limited options but they were great! The portion sizes are large and the sourdough bread was fresh, hot and amazing.
So a couple of things to consider before spending the money and the time to go to this place. Is the food worth the trip and money. I would have to say yes. It is a unique on the beach dining experience. The food is pricey sure but it is consistently good to excellent. The Sour Dough Bowl creamy clam chowder is legend. The menu has enough diverse choices enough for almost every taste. The view is on some days spectacular. I would say to get your bang for the buck be sure to reserve a table and meal to avoid the $65 parking fee. If you eat in they only charge you $15 bucks for 4 hours. So have a picnic plop yourself unto the beach and enjoy!
I'm from the UK and this is my 3rd visit to L.A. I finally got to go to Paradise Cove on this trip and was a bit underwhelmed by it. The beach itself was probably the worst out of all the beaches i visited, the pier was closed for repair (and that was the only reason i wanted to go there) and while the cafe and it's staff were amazing the food was definitely wasn't. $30 for cold fries and tasteless fish. Glad to be able to say I've been there but I won't be going back. El Matador and a McDonald's wins hands down.
A historic gem, this cafe offers the perfect setting for a hearty breakfast. Steeped in history and adorned with vintage elements, it's also a delightful spot to savor the cove with a 'Beach Boys' claim to fame. The food is good, with big servings and well-seasoned dishes (served in tin plates which is charming but feels indigent), although the hashbrowns tend to be on the oily side. Be mindful of a 5% charge, and there's a $10 parking fee – a bummer, but in California, nothing comes for free.
Lovley staff and amazing views. The birds in the outdoor seating were a bit aggressive. Food was ok and drinks were great. Pricey parking even if visting the cafe.
Spent an awesome Sunday afternoon at Paradise Cove Beach Café, and I can’t wait to go back! I started with a Mango Mojito that was so refreshing—perfect for a sunny day. For appetizers, we had the chips and guacamole, and the portion was huge, definitely enough for sharing. The fish and chips were on point, with crispy fries that were delicious. The chicken tacos were also packed with flavor. Some of the drinks came in actual pineapples and watermelons, which was a fun tropical touch! The view of the ocean was incredible and made for some perfect photo ops. Just a heads up, though: it can get a little chilly when the sun goes down depending on the time of the year, so bring a light jacket if you plan to stay into the evening. Overall, it’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy great food and drinks, and take in the Malibu vibe. The ocean view is unbeatable, especially for photo ops. The only downside was that the staff seemed a bit overworked and tired, and I didn’t see many smiles, which might have been because it was the end of the weekend. Hopefully, that’s not always the case. Despite that, I’ll definitely be coming back!
We visited paradise cove and we wanted to see the views! Drinks were nice but the price is reflected on the area. The beach views were great and the seating on the sand was a nice touch. There is a sign that says if you spend $30 your parking is included which is great. When we got our ticket validated but by the server we took it to the gate entry and when we scanned the ticket it says $10. A local said the parking is reduced down to $10 from whatever it may be. We were only there for 40 minutes. Nevertheless something to be aware of when visiting.
Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The service was really fast and we got food in around 10-15 minutes. Due to my family’s egg allergy, we were allowed to order lunch as most of the food in breakfast had egg. The staff was very understanding. The chicken fingers for children was a big portion. It came with crispy and tender chicken and great fries. But the chicken lacked flavour. The French toast was too sweet for my liking. Outside seating is very scenic but lots of sand. Kids had fun with the activities on the menu. The bathroom is very clean but the water is very cold. Not suitable for cold days. The sink is very shallow making hands had to wash. It wasn’t crowded at all. In summary: Very oily food Not so good food Nice place Clean bathroom
Bought my mom here for mother's day and we had an okay experience over all. There is always room for improvement. We had a reservation at 7:30pm for mother's day dinner. Checked in at 7:25pm, got to out seats at 8:05pm. I would suggest the establishment, manager, and the owner would update or fix their reservation system. For first timers, I already expected that this place would be busy just by reading the reviews and turn around times. I would suggest visiting their website and go through the menu ahead of time. It may not be the full menu but at least you will be ready to know your main course. They serve drink and dessert menu at the restaurant. We ordered the Paella Paradise, Crispy Calamari, drinks , and bread pudding for dessert. They run out of the ribs that comes with the paella so they suggested to add more on the dish on its behalf but as we got the paella, for $125, it's a pretty decent dish. It only got 2 pcs of chicken but I believe they added more on the seafood side. But I don't think it justified the price. The bread pudding was good, did not expect the white chocolate in the pudding but it was good. The only thing that did not sit well with me is the table/s could have been wiped or cleaned thoroughly in between guests and staff would not use the term "did not expect to be this busy or packed". As a well- known establishment, it should be expected especially on weekends and/or on a special days.
Loved it, great place, foods good, service is friendly n efficient... Tables are outside on beach or pleasant inside with waves crashing in front. Margaritas tasty and taco plate amazing fish, beef, carnitas... it is pricey! The history of black n white photos covering the walls of the beach, people, boats an fishing! I enjoyed the atmosphere even got to watch a few guys catch some waves! It's been there for a long time!
If you’re new to Malibu, this is a great place to visit! It was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to surprise him. I’m so glad I picked this place, they had really cute & fruity drinks. The food was also great - I like how there are different options. They also brought out a complimentary birthday cake for my husband with a candle which was adorable. This place overall was so relaxing and romantic.
The beauty of the location is the absolute best. Dining outside in the sand and listening to the surf is great. I used to bring guests here when visiting me in Santa Monica because it was a pretty drive up the coast. Now it is interesting looking at the charred houses and remains from the wild fires. The service was somewhat slow but that’s not a complaint when enjoying the sun and ocean. The food is acceptable but the portions are so huge. We ordered the Barcelona grill and four people had plenty of leftovers. The calamari appetizer is $31 and a ton of food. No way could we order dessert. Parking should be fully validated IMHO when we spent over $300 for lunch but $15 is fine I guess.
We love coming here to hang out for a few hours by the ocean. The food is always good without ever being brilliant but the scenery is surely what anyone comes for (and the cocktails!) . The staff are lovely and really accommodating - especially at quieter times of the day / week and we will definitely be back again soon.
My boyfriend and I were staying in Malibu and wanted to find something close to the beach—and this little restaurant was perfect! The atmosphere and access to the beach is truly the draw here. You can choose to sit indoors (which we did because it was chilly that day) or plant yourself on the sand for a real California moment. It has a classic sort of diner vibe with a menu that reflects just that—but elevated with Hawaiian-inspired and Latin dishes. We shared the Loco Moco and Breakfast Tacos made pancakes, cheesy eggs, bacon, and a side of potatoes. The servings were massive and tasty! Not exceptionally mind-blowing but we were satisfied with our meal. Would definitely recommend for the sweeping views of the ocean more so than the food.
Firs timer with the family for breakfast on the beach. Well, breakfast in the outdoor area looking at the folks who were seated in the coveted beach tables. Overall the food was good, not great. The french toast was pretty good and the standout at the table. The bathroom could have used a good cleaning. No need to return.
We did not have the best experience at this Restaurant. My mother and I were in So Cal visiting my brother and his family and we have eaten this restaurant before and remembered it being a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is amazing because it sits right on the beach. And the outside tables are actually in the sand. However, the service we received from our waiter this time was poor. We ordered our drinks and two of us received ours in a decent amount of time. My mother initially asked for a glass of Merlot and the waiter told us they didn’t have it. We were served our appetizer and finally the waiter came back and we asked him about the other drinks and he reviewed available wines and mentioned the merlot and said he would bring the other drinks and check on the merlot. This was odd because he initially told us the Merlot was not available. My nephews asked for Shirley Temples, which they did not receive until after our meals came. My mom’s Merlot finally came as we were finishing our meals with not explanation or apology. The waiter was just not personable or attentive. Items we enjoyed were the Calamari and flies very crispy and good flavor. The Mangonada was delicious. The tacos were ok- fish and carnitas were flavorful. My sister did not enjoy the poke bowl. The Jumbo Shrimp meal was good and so were the chicken strips. The staff who actually brought us our meals were more friendly than our actual waiter. The scenery is beautiful so we may try again next time we visit and hopefully have a better experience.
Nice setting on the beach! Food average but not bad, when the food comes out a bit too quickly it always feels a bit weird for me! The spot and venue are is nice overlooking the beach. Sun wise I think it’s more morning to mid afternoon otherwise the sun is obstructed by the cliffs/ hillside. The parking is expensive for a flying stop, not worth it for a quick lunch. Portion sizes are huge. The quality could be improved. The service is good and the people are friendly. Seagulls run the show outside and will go for your food as soon as you leave the table… staff do the best they can, but ultimately the seagulls are too dominant outside and go beyond being nice to see but a genuine nuisance.
First off, beware that parking is $45. It's dropped to $10 if you spend at least $30 at the Cafe and you get the ticket validated. The Cafe is nice on inside with lots of historic picture. The outside is like any other beach cafe..we enjoyed the view and the service. Prices are high so you won't have any problems not spending the $30. Watch out for the seagulls..they'll try to steal your food or at least wait for something to be dropped on the ground. We saw them swallow an entire straw (hard noodle).
Went for a walk on beach and found this beautiful spot for dinner. Everything was tasty, however I have to mention the prices will not be bringing me back. I love to splurge on a good meal, but $30 for chips and guac is crazy even for LA!! I had a Bloody Mary and a sandwich which ran me $60 before tax and tip. Plus you have to pay $15 to park. If I’m gonna spend $100 on a meal I want it to wow me a bit more.
I remember this when it was at its peak. Maybe that's why it didn't get rated as well. Now. It was off season and I got the there after sunset but there was only one other couple, the place was dreary, the food was lackluster and the prices. The prices well you would have thought that you were in a five-star hotel. Location is wonderful, but that's what you're paying for. And when I went there after Sun the said you really didn't see much of the location, so I'll chalk it up too that I shouldn't have went there at that time
The View: Absolutely unbeatable. Sitting on the patio right on the sand is the only reason to come here. The ocean breeze and the Malibu coastline are 10/10. The Food: Mediocre at best. The breakfast is standard, uninspired, and overpriced for the quality. It’s essentially basic diner food that relies entirely on the scenery to justify the bill. The Service: Infuriatingly slow. We spent more time trying to flag down a server for water and the check than we did actually eating. The staff seems completely indifferent to the wait times. Bottom Line: Come for a drink to enjoy the view, but don’t expect the food or the service to match the landscape.
We eat and drink here but I would say it’s more for people who wants to be seen. The cocktails are good and also the barman was nice but the gentlemen who welcome us on the entry gives more a feeling like you are a cash cow. If you wanna only drink you can’t go trough the restaurant, you have to go outside. After ordering food they try to advertise the expensive fresh products. It’s really a nice bar cause of the history but the people working there are a bit too much nose up. It was way too expensive. You got a parking discount. Usally 45$ or weekend 60$
The atmosphere was family friendly and relaxed, the patio area has a great view, but the food wasn’t great and it was around $400 for 5 of us to eat. The chips were stale, my fried shrimp were soggy, the fries tasted like fish, & two of our parties plates that should have taken the least effort and prep didn’t come out till the rest of us were almost finished already.
The view is beautiful but overall not worth it at all. 🍜 Food: Tastes good, it's fine but extremely overpriced for what you're actually getting. Not the best gluten free friendly place they serve every drink with a pasta straw. The menu didn't note any allergy related ingredients which was helpful. 👩💼Service: Our waiter was very dismissive and gave us a pasta straw when we expressed the fact that we are gluten free. Also seemed annoyed that we asked for gluten free options. Not enthusiastic at all and did not provide a happy experience. 🏠 Atmosphere: The beach itself is quite beautiful but the interior was definitely a bit outdated and run down. The booth we were seated at literally broke in on us. 💸 Price: Extremely overpriced, be prepared to pay $30plus per person. They also didn't list the prices of cocktails on the menu- so I was extremely surprised when the bill was $75 when I only ordered the mussels and one cocktail. Not worth it AT ALL.
Honestly, the food was underwhelming — ended up with an upset stomach afterward. The service? Let's just say it left much to be desired. The view is nice, but that’s about the only redeeming quality here. For the price they charge, you'd expect a much better experience. Sadly, this feels like what you'd call a classic ‘tourist trap’. Definitely better options elsewhere. 🙃
This place was a big disappointment. My daughter was excited to show us this restaurant while we were in LA visiting her. The atmosphere is great and the drinks look amazing, but that’s about the extent of what is good. The food is not great. It is over priced for how mediocre it truly is. The drinks are watered down and just not good. We were sat at a table right next to the bar with a trash can overflowing and spilling on the ground. I couldn’t get over the smell of trash the wind would whip our way, so we asked to relocate to a different table. Once we were at our new table it took almost 20 minutes for our waiter to come over. The entire dinner was spent looking for our waiter. We finally started asking the other waiters for help. We ordered the Shrimp Paradise. For that price you would expect more. The dish is mainly a rice and corn mix with shrimp on top. I won’t visit this restaurant next trip. Too many wonderful options in the LA and Malibu area to waste a dinner here.
We arrived around 2:00 PM and were seated promptly. The initial server who greeted us was friendly and efficient, and our drinks arrived quickly. We placed orders for appetizers and main courses shortly after. About 20 minutes later, that server returned with another staff member and explained she would be taking over because she had originally been assigned to us but had been on break when we arrived. From that point forward, the experience declined. We waited over an hour for our entrées (surf and turf, bread bowl, and mac and cheese). One appetizer never arrived, and the mac and cheese was missing when the mains were delivered. We had to ask for it. By the time the offer was made to bring the appetizer, we had already finished eating and asked that it be removed from the bill. During the meal we were not checked on, not offered refills, and not updated on the delay. When the food did arrive, it was cold. To add to the frustration, we were told our parking would be validated. When we reached the exit gate, we learned it had not been. We were there for roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes, and for a bill of approximately $700 for three adults and a child, the level of service was extremely disappointing. I understand busy days happen, but the communication and follow-through simply weren’t there.
Food was decent but overpriced. Not sure if intentional or not, but I was asked to pay for a different bill that was $70+ higher than what I owed. When I said that this is not my bill, then I was asked back what is wrong, and then later was provided with an excuse that they mitakenly pulled a bill from yesterday 🙄. Not once did the waiter come to check how we are doing after the food was provided. Patio table was nice, but the beach was a mess - dirty with trashes all over. It was my first time visiting, but I am afraid it will be my last.
It was okay, but very expensive... about $60 (after tax, tip, and validated parking) for a single lunch dish (I opted for scallops, since even something as simple as fish and chips was nearly $40 before tax and tip!) , with no drink, just a cup of water. I was hoping the high price of being here would at least make the beach more exclusive, but this wasn't the case! It's a small beach, and was very crowded (and teeming with children, which I didn't expect.) Oh, and going out into the water can involve rocks and even hidden tidepools (I stepped in one by accident, which was followed by a stinging sensation and swelling in my foot that lasted until the next day... I think I stepped on an anemone) The dish (scallops with vegetables and saffron rice) was pretty decent, though, and a big enough portion (6 total scallops.) Doubt I will return, though
Parking Scam! You will be forced to pay $45 for parking or purchase a minimum of $30 at the café and then pay $10 for parking. The signage is misleading. It looks like you’ll only pay $10 for parking until you read the fine print on the ticket. They can successfully turn a beautiful afternoon and sunset into a frustrating and expensive experience.
Nightmare in Paradise Cove I came on Saturday morningby myself , to have a Lunch.I wanted to eat outside. It was 11 o’clock. It was nobody there. I was told , that they are not serving outside, but I could order by the bar and eat outside.!!! While I was ordering and waiting to get Food ,they already started to serve Outside! I Picked up my lunch from the bar and I started to eat , And then came same person, Who told me to order food by the bar and eat outside if I like to (name is Kennedy ) Tells me! I am not supposed to eat over there. !! I could go on a single chairs on the rocks and eat over there only.! I said I have a soup. I can’t eat on the rocks.?! It’s a nut house.. She calls a manager comes old mad man, And tells me again I’m not supposed to eat over there where everybody is being served! He grabs my paper cup with his dirty hands (my crab soup )and walks away 20yards behind corner. Can anyone In the wildest dream imagine happening to them like that? I spend $90 alone just for lunch To poison like this my day! Nobody even take attention that I came first ,that they started to serve people later after I already was there that I waited half an hour to get my food by the bar and I was kicked out literally, Not allowed to eat where everybody was eating !!! Nobody apologies. Nobody said me that we are starting to serve outside ,or asked me, would you like to sit and enjoy your lunch? NO! I was literally not allowed to eat there PEOPLE LIKE THAT MAD MANAGER SHOULDN’T WORK OVER THERE TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS.
We came as a group of six, hoping to enjoy the ocean and relax — but this place was a huge disappointment. The outdoor seating area is beautiful, but honestly, that’s the only good thing I can say. The hostess was cold and unwelcoming from the start. Once we finally got to our table, we were told that everyone had to order an entrée because they were “so busy” — even though there were clearly multiple empty tables around us. Drinks or appetizers were only allowed at the bar or to-go. We had just wanted a snack, so we left. The whole experience felt uninviting and unnecessarily expensive. On top of that, parking is an outrageous $45 during the week and $65 on weekends if you’re not dining in — a total scam. It felt like a price trap from start to finish. Definitely not worth it. Would not recommend it.
Although my overall experience at the breakfast was fine, the behavior of a staff member named Jorge B. was completely unacceptable. He pressured me to give Cash tip, and when I had already paid, he gave the receipt to my cousin who was my guest instead of to me and circled the tip amount so that it could be clearly seen. I consider this a blatant violation of customer privacy and a serious lack of respect.
Very disappointing experience. The mussels were rotten inside and had a strong rotten fish smell. The worst part is that I had already eaten almost all of them before I realized something was wrong. This is very concerning, especially for a place that seems to focus on seafood. At a restaurant that serves seafood, everything should be fresh and carefully checked before being prepared. The staff offered a small 15% discount, but considering the high prices at this café, I believe they could have done more. When you charge premium prices, customers expect premium quality. I came here with my wife on International Women’s Day hoping to enjoy a nice evening together, but unfortunately we left disappointed. Now we’re just hoping we don’t get any food poisoning and that we stay healthy.
Unfortunately, this place gets worse year after year — both in terms of food quality and overall experience. The seafood pasta, priced at nearly $40, was dry and completely tasteless. It felt like an unskilled chef simply mixed pasta with seafood, without sauce, balance, or any understanding of the dish. Also was found not pasta rich it has … see photo The burger was equally disappointing: a dry bun, an overcooked meat patty, a poorly presented piece of salty pickle, and huge chunks of lettuce thrown on the side. The result was dry and flavorless. The atmosphere has also declined significantly. Tables, chairs, trash bins, and restrooms were all dirty, which clearly does not reflect the standards of a good restaurant. The only thing that remains beautiful and timeless is the view. However, even that is no longer enough to justify spending $300 on lunch here.
