We really enjoyed our time at the Crown Tavern. The atmosphere is definitely more upscale for the area, but still laid back. The service was wonderful, and we were seated promptly even though we were early for our reservation. The burrata appetizer was delicious as was the pear and blue salad. My husband had the special, Delmonico steak, while I had the flat iron, both were cooked as ordered, seasoned well, and presentation was appeasing.

Absolutely fantastic food with an extensive wine selection and lots of cocktails. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Solid menu and ambiance.

Great American Fare In a Historic Building A great first experience at the crown. The food here is excellent, there is no doubt about that. What really brings this place to life is the setting. The old crown theatre revived into a restaurant with a stunning interior. It feels as if you have stepped back into the first half of the 20th century. Although the menu is limited, it makes up for it in quality and uniqueness. The Veal Holstein with spätzle is now one of my favorite dishes in Manchester. The Bolognese my girlfriend ordered had the quality of an upscale Italian restaurant. Also one of the largest drink menus I have come across in Manchester. The whiskey menu is extensive.

Cool place, great food. We had the special pizza - steak, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes, provolone, mozzarella, and red sauce - it was delicious. The drinks are a reasonable pour, and a reasonable price.

A coworker recommended this place while here on a business trip. 10/10 recommend. We had the salmon, meat balls and Manhattans. Everything was very delicious and the service was wonderful. I had already started to enjoy the food when I remembered to snap a picture.

The food was fresh and had local flair. The service was genuine, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. We were delightfully surprised by how good the corn fritters. The pep and honey pizza was a personal size with a hint of sweetness. The pork schnitzel crust was light not heavy. We topped it off with the affogato. The biscotti was fresh and just a little soft. Everything was made the way it should be. You could sit inside, outside on the covered patio, or on the lawn in Adirondack chairs. Don’t be put off by the wolf statues that are a bit realistic and I had to keep an eye on them the whole time.

The pizza is can’t miss! We had the hot honey and pepperoni and it was amazing - kitchen was kind enough to make it half meat since my wife is vegetarian. The cocktails were great. Bar service was awesome. Make a reservation !

A small but lovely menu. I will take quality over quantity any day. The apple/cheese pizza special was delicious!

Great local spot for food and drinks! Veal schnitzel was amazing along with the brussel sprouts! Ended the night with a Canadian Blondie dessert. 10/10!

Oh my ... the food is GOOD! Loved the clam chowder and salad. My husband said the hamburger was the best one he had in a very long time. The interior of the restaurant is really elegant. The man who served our table was friendly and efficient. Had a nice dining experience. Hope to come back in the near future.

Ahhhhmaaazing!! If you are in Manchester for any amount of time, this is a must visit. The Nashville hot chicken is FIRE! It burns in the best way. The bourbon is almost as sweet as the service. Special thanks to Katrina! A Florida gal who fell in love with New Hampshire for all the right reasons. This was our first visit and most definitely not our last.

Great dinner our waitress Hannah was outstanding!!!! Loved the Desert flight of liquors, only thing that would have made it better was a holder for the flight. The Pizza was awesome will definitely go back

A group of us were in town for a work event. Had no idea what was what. Found The Crown Tavern on line and it did not disappoint. The food was phenomenal, extremely welcoming service and wonderful atmosphere. Everyone left full and happy. Thanks for making me look good! I would visit NH again for that dinner.

How has this amazing jem of a restaurant been hiding on Hanover street for over 8 years. Drinks, the bartender suggested were amazing. HUGE portions of food. Great prices we will be back.

I went there for my birthday dinner on Wednesday. We had an amazing time; we raved about how good the hummus plate and our pizzas were. Our server Tyler was the perfect amount of attentive as well. Will definitely return!

I live in Boston, but L❤️VE the Palace Theatre. Everytime I attend a show I MUST go to the Crown. A+++++. Everything down to the decor is unreal. Food? A+ Service? A+ and as a fellow business owner on Newbury Street in Boston, I have high standards. I want to say is when you come ask for: Kevin or the BEST BARTENDER ever: Brian. Zack the manager is insanely sweet and “remembers you”.

I love the Crown. It's an awesome environment with the best and knowledgeable staff that is happy to make suggestions for you. Primrose is probably the best waitress I've ever met. Their menu is small, but it is exactly what we need more of. Nothing to overwhelming. I highly suggest the Crown!

The interior decor is wonderful - love the tile and the diner feel - and the food and service are also top notch. The truffle fries were very well cooked and seasoned, and the Manhattan was everything you would want in a Manhattan. The flank steak was also really well seasoned and charred, and the chimchurri was a great fresh accompaniment. Great restaurant all around! Really recommend it.

Where to begin... Amazing food, lots of eclectic tapas style plates. If sharing food is your thing this is a fantastic spot. We were a table of 4 and shared the oysters, beef meatballs, roasted garlic and ricotta crostini, pork belly, kimchi spring rolls, the tavern shrimp and the flat bread special for the day. Every single bite was absolutely delicious. It was a perfect amount of food for the 4 of us, and it allowed us to have an array of different dishes. They do also have main dishes but we stuck with tapas style. The drinks were great and they have a fairly large selection of beers. We sat outdoors, in their beautiful back patio. I was amazed that it was back there, completely unexpected pleasant surprise. The inside is also very nice, open concept and I really loved the decor, something I would see in New York City. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I also had the opportunity to meet the manager who was very nice and does an awesome job of overseeing the restaurant. We went at 5pm and by 630pm the restaurant was very full. They only accept reservations for their large table which seats 8 - 10 people. I suggest going early. Overall... fantastic experience that fills a void in Manchester... I can't wait to return! The Crown Tavern is a much needed and welcomed addition to the Manchester restaurant scene.

We have always liked this place, even picking up food during the height of the pandemic. Tonight didn't disappoint. Great burgers and pizza.

The food here is amazing! I’ve been coming here regularly for about a year now and I’ve never been disappointed. They have amazing oysters, pizza and signature drinks. Waitstaff is always a pleasure. A couple of tips - they no longer take reservations the day of, buck and a half oysters are only 2 hour from 5 to 6PM on Tuesdays. My only request to the Crown Tavern is: can you please add creme brûlée to your dessert menu?

The food was absolutely amazing! The drinks reminded me of a rainy day, with all your bills paid. We are from Texas! The best place to eat by far.

The Crown Tavern is a welcome respite. Knowledgeable and friendly bar staff are complemented by a kitchen with fresh takes on standard fare. Ask Brian about their stash of Oozlefinch! Seriously good eats with an elegant vibe.

We had reservations for dinner recently with Georges (he was great saying yes, he's Greek and his parents didn't name him plural.) His sense of humor, easy going nature, attention to detail and the whole experience was devine. Georges we will be back 3/29 for dinner before a show at the Rex and hope to get you again! Food was on point, beer was cold and glasses never went dry. In all, a fantastic experience at one of our favorite dinner spots!

Fantastic experience. Big beer selection. Amazing food, my steak was cooked perfectly! The gnocchi was delicious. Bartender was super nice. Will definitely be back.

Went here the other night and had such a lovely time. Atmosphere is top notch, service is even better and food is pitch perfect. Took such good care of us. I can't wait to go back. Their burgers are to die for! Thank you Crown for being the best in Manchester!

Couldn't have asked for a better first experience at Crown! Molly our server was great, so friendly and personable. My meal (gnocchi, and I added a side of grilled chicken) was amazing. I got a takeaway pepp & honey pizza because someone at the next table got it. It looked so good I couldn't resist!

If I could give more than five stars I would. We sat at the bar with Brian as the bartender. He was great. We had the meatball appetizer that was great and he recommended the light bread to go with it. Dinner was the pear salad with grilled chicken and the bolognese sauce which was exceptional. The dessert special was cheese cake that was very good. All of our neighbors at the bar had been there before and were extremely complimentary of the food and service. We'll definitely be back.

Katrina T was an awesome server! She was sweet and patient! We had some time to kill before the show but she never rushed us and was super kind and understanding! The special salad of the day was excellent and between that and the service we experienced we will absolutely be back!

Awesome spot for a dinner date! The Crown is a great spot downtown. We had the pizza and some cocktails and it was delicious. A little pricey, but very much to be expected. Drinks for two and a Pizza to split at The Crown is a fantastic night out!

What a great find! We were in Manchester for one night and happened upon this restaurant. The service was great and super friendly. We tried the "Great Gatsby" martini that we learned is actually a recipe from the manager. The specialty cocktail menu is truly specialty not just run of the mill cocktails touted as special. Food came out fast and delicious! Would highly recommend The Crown Tavern!

I got a togo order. Had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I think it is the best fried chicken sandwich in Manchester. Fries we're tasty and cooked perfect. Staff was friendly and accommodating!

Maybe the nicest outdoor dining space in Manchester, go early because it fills up fast. Very reasonable prices considering for great everything is. You can split a pizza and a salad and get a could drinks for $40. Try the kale salad, I don't how they make kale taste so good, it's ridiculous.

Before heading to a show across the street, we stopped by this restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. We ordered a variety of dishes—including pizza, steak, salmon, garlic dip, and wings—all of which were delicious. I am vegetarian, but my family said the steak was the true standout, incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. Our server was amazing- super friendly and attentive. What truly set this place apart, though, was their above-and-beyond hospitality. My mother-in-law, who has mobility challenges, mentioned to the GM that the high snowbanks and icy sidewalks made it difficult to get inside. Without hesitation, he personally went outside and shoveled around our car to make sure we could leave safely. That level of care and dedication is rare, and we truly appreciated it. We definitely will be back!

I came with my family while they were in town visiting, and we all really loved dining here. We all got cocktails, which were very good, albeit quite expensive (but about what you’d expect at a restaurant like this). The oysters were so fresh and the roasted garlic spread was just delicious. My brother and I both got steaks. Mine was perfect, his was a little undercooked, but we’re both such meat lovers that it wasn’t a big deal. My dad got the fried chicken sandwich, which he devoured, and my mom got gnocchi and she loved it. We’re big on sharing food in my family, so we all sampled each other’s dishes and were really pleased with everything. Our server was so nice and great overall, but things got messy when my parents ordered coffee after finishing eating. They had to ask a couple of times for sugar, so unfortunately those were a little cold by the time that was tended to. All in all, I’d absolutely recommend this restaurant, particularly as a place to go for a nicer/special occasion, as it is a pricier option.

The place is beautiful, super clean, open and inviting. The food was amazing, the drinks were top notch and our server Taylor was the best server I have had in over 5 years! Absolutely amazing experience, please come for a great time, great food, and great atmosphere!! Thanks so much to all the employees tonight, we truly enjoyed our time, I will be back.

Crown Tavern is such a solid spot in Manchester. The vibe is cozy and chill, but still nice enough for a night out. The food is always really good and consistent you can tell they actually care about what they’re putting out. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel welcome without hovering. Drinks are well made, and it’s just an overall easy place to hang out and enjoy yourself. Definitely one of my go-to places and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for good food and a good atmosphere.

I've eaten here a couple of times and can report that the food and drinks were outstanding. Very creative menu and cocktail list. One nit to pick is that I did not find the chairs all that comfortable. My shorter dining companions didn't have an issue. Maybe it was just me.

Made an impromptu visit after a performance at the Palace Theatre. Was a great decision as my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff, and atmosphere. Was very surprised! The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. I recommend a visit if in the area… if not in the area, visit anyway. No disappointments! 5 Stars!

Took my husband for his 70 birthday. We sat on the patio as it was a beautiful evening. The waiter was exceptional. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Specifically there was a dish on the appetizer menu with fresh mozzarella, baked apples, walnuts and arugula. The waiter suggested we order a bread with it and we asked him to pick what he thought would go best. He brought us a fresh baked Pita bread still puffed with air. The combination of all these fresh ingredients wrapped up in the warmth of the fresh thin pita bread was an experience everyone must have. I know I will be back.

After the Queen tribute at Palace we decided to try the crown tavern. It’s a very nice spot we got there pretty early luckily for us. Got a nice table by the window. Although the menu is limited the selections were excellent. A little pricey, 1/2 doz oysters are $19. Wife had a nice Chardonnay I had a very good red sangria it had hints of peach, very refreshing. For eats we had 2 salads the chicken tender appetizer and I had the flank steak, wifey also had the butternut squash bisque, definitely a must have. The flank steak was almost fork tender and juicy, ordered it medium so the meat tenderizes but still very juicy. Michael was our server, he was very helpful and in point with delivery and suggestions. Definitely consider stopping in if you’re in the area or after a show at the Palace!! Only gave 4 stars because the menu is limited but everything was fabulous. Cheers.

Nice place, good food, good service, It would be nice if they had extended hours of service. They have Al fresco dining too which is nice.

Got half a dozen oysters and a steak. The food was delicious, my steak was cooked perfectly, the other two steaks my party got were both under and over cooked, the bar tender was very friendly and the hostess was extremely accommodating. I would definitely give it another shot.

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant's amazing decor, design, food, and service! The timing of the plates was great as we usually don't order multiple appetizers throughout the night and entrees but we did here and the roasted garlic with ricotta was so good. We also ordered the soft pretzel appetizer and the whole garlic mustard it came with was everything. I would come back here and eat outside again but I would ask to eat in the yard under the trees as the lighting was romantic and playful!

Great food and service. Crowd is a little pretentious. I guess they forgot they’re in NH. Which typically has a laid back, friendly crowd.

Lovely decor, waitstaff amazingly attentive. Not a huge food choice. We were looking to eat lite, didn't want, pizza or burgers, but not a huge choice for k ite bites before a show. What I did order was perfect!!! The pumpkin bisque and the special berry salad!

First visit here. A Saturday night, they are busy. Some people have said it's loud, it is but it wasn't out of the ordinary for that style of space, and we were nearer to the back, which is by the open kitchen. I could hear my friend accross the table fine. Our waiter had difficulty hearing us for some reason, at times. The ambience is nice, didn't have the lights up too bright, which I hate when places do that. Menu was a normal size, some apps, salads, pizzas, sandwiches/burgers and a few mains. Our server read from a piece of paper, never told us what the oysters were until asked, was slightly rude in an odd way to us, on a few occasions. We weren't rushed terribly, but we were one of the last seatings, by reservation, and one of the last to leave. When our food came out, I could smell the kitchen breaking down with cleaning agent - that wasn't very pleasant to eat with. Wine list was fine, my friend liked her coctail, those are slightly over-priced. They were offering Opus1 bybthe glass that night for some reason, I didn't see it on the wine list. Ceasar was good but no anchovy in the dressing and too much cheese - although hand mixed, so that can just improve over time and be consistent. Server picked up our silverware and put in on the table when our plates were cleared. Again, something I can't stand, I mean we are not at Applebee's, and we are paying the prices to eat here...not sure why we couldn't get re-set. Maybe because setting is rolled-up in a napkin.... Giant burger (double) too bad the fries aren't made in-house, that surprised me. Ribeye is 10oz and $41 that also surprised me, I have never seen one that small before at that price point, even grass-fed. Tasted good, but nothing to write home about. Dessert didn't excite us, only one thing was offered and by then we could tell that the server wanted to go since we were still sitting with our plates when he came and asked us. The industry is still struggling since the pandemic to staff; NH doesn't have extreme competition or as much high-end demand and so I feel like I see this all play out in a lot our "nicer" restaurants. There's no coat check. It was fairly casual there. So, you might as well try it. I'll probably go back, eat at the bar, try the chicken sandwich (although if it is really too hot for most people then maybe they should consider fixing that since they don't offer something else comparable). Bar seats look comfortable. They take walk-ins.

A
Andy Hatfield

Some of the food items are really good. The bartenders are all great, but both times I've gone the seating/getting staff were a bit curt and rude. Ambiance is nice but can get a bit loud. They're close to having a gem here, but operational management is a mess - regularly hear them say it's booked when half the tables are empty. So close.

S
Shawna Allen

Been going to Crown restaurant for quite some time now and it’s very hit or miss. We like to sit at the bar Brian the bartender is very moody hit or miss some nights you go when he gives you great service other night you go in he’s very in his own world and just not very personable and doesn’t give you the service that you deserve with the money that you spend Thinking twice certainly about going back to the restaurant based on the service that Brian gives the food has gone downhill. It certainly is not the same you get less for what you pay for the chicken tenders used to be a very large plate of chicken tenders. Now you’re getting you’re getting a few chicken tenders with crumbs attached to them Very disappointing in today’s economy to go back and spend a few hundred dollars every time you go not really thinking it’s worth it. I will rethink my my choices of where I go out and dine in crown will not be one of them.
