If you get a chance to eat here, do not miss the opportunity to try their house made crab cakes and the smoked cocktails (Dennis made me a jalapeño and pineapple cosmopolitan that was beyond description)

What a JOY to attend the "new" Binnekill Tavern opening. Chef Mike (a local incredible talent) has revamped the menu with amazing comfort winter fare... and the fireplace! Get there early to snag the coziest seat in town. 5-STARS

Excellent food and drink, great service, lovely environment. I had the prime rib which was delicious and beautifully crusted. Everyone enjoyed their food— the salmon, the pesto pasta, the schnitzel, and the lamb were all great.

What a gem! Chef Brian’s menu has a superb mix of modern cuisine and comfort food, and his specials reflect the changing seasons and fresh, locally sourced goods. The staff are always welcoming, knowledgeable and expeditious. Dennis’ drinks are excellent, truly a barmaster extraordinaire. We had the honor of hosting our 25th wedding Anniversary at Binnekill Tavern, and Chef Brian and his team took excellent care of us. Our friends & family - over 60 people - raves about the food, service and atmosphere. We are so grateful for Binnekill Tavern.

Had a post wedding Sunday brunch event about 60 people came.. the food was amazing! Had some gluten free guests, so just made most of the food gf. Everyone raved about the eggs Benedict on a gf potato pancake. Food is great.. highly recommended.

Honestly if it wasn't for Christine our waitress we probably would have left. She was beyond apologetic for the ridiculous wait. But the food once it came was surpriseingly good!

Friendly hometown restaurant. Food is fantastic, tasty and artistic. Great twist on traditional dishes such as lamb meatloaf, and schnitzel. Outside deck seating overlooks the Binnekill stream.. A must do when in Margaretville.

This will forever be my comfort place. The waiters are great and the service from them was the best Ive seen in a while. Those jumbo chicken wings are just what one needs as a comfort meal or at the end of a tiring day.

I met up with a friend here and we had cocktails at the bar, the mulled cider is perfect after a day of skiing! I loved the bar tenders too, they were cracking me up. We got a table by the window to eat dinner. The food came out great, I had the pork belly and the stuffed acorn squash and my friend had the cauliflower soup and the short ribs. It was all delicious, and the lemon pound cake we had for dessert was pretty special too. The waitress was really friendly and everything came out as we ordered it. I’ll definitely be back, so glad to have a place like this in Margaretville!

A delicious meal and great service for our large group of 13. They even threw in a complimentary round of "nuts & berries" shots. All our entrees were delicious and the lavender fizz drink is amazing. The best part was easily the chocolate bomb cake, it was unreal.

I had pork belly and lamb ribs that were very, very good! The tiramasu was good. I've had better, I've had worse. The staff was friendly. We ate outside on the water. The ducks were so cute! I will definitely go back, I want to try the Schnitzel

Coming from Fairfield county CT I wasn’t sure what’s to expect but was absolutely blown away with the food. The lamb ribs were out of this world and the sides of asparagus and cabbage were absolutely perfect. Just amazed at the food. Only visit the area occasionally but will for sure make it back to Binnekill Tavern to enjoy the food.

My Husband and I went to Binnekill Tavern for the first time Thursday night. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great!! We were in the upstate area in September but the nights we were here the restaurant wasn't open. This time we planned our trip so we could go to Margaretville and try it out. It was truly worth the wait!!

Traveling for work is always a pain and finding a great place to stop for food and a drink is even more…. I’m glad I came across this place, beautiful decor and atmosphere, the always smiling bartender was great, like a butterfly 🦋 going from flower to flower she would go from table to table or person to person asking if anyone needing anything. The food was amazing and thanks to Miss Autumn so was the rest of my evening heading back home. Hope to be able to come by again in the future. The town is beautiful and the location of this establishment is great with a view of the river.

We stopped in for lunch on a busy Labor Dat weekend Saturday. We were seated quickly on the terrace overlooking the water. The waitress explained that they opened a little earlier than usual and they were understaffed for a short period of time. That was fine for us as we were not on any hurry and were spending a relaxing day in Margaretville. We ordered the Swiss burger with mushrooms and it was cooked medium rare, as ordered. It came with homemade fries. It was delicious! I was even able to order mine with a gluten free bun! Yummy! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

None of the towns in this area have many restaurants and I noticed that Margaretville basically has two restaurants - this tavern and an Italian restaurant. This was a great choice! We were the first ones there for an early dinner. There is definitely a tavern vibe to the place - lots of wooden features, a bar, older decor, etc. The menu is very small which I like. A few of us had schnitzel which was delicious. I think they change their menu often. We had a couple of babies in our group and our server was very patient and accommodating. It was still pretty cold when we were there so it didn't look like they were set up for outdoor dining yet but I'm sure the space they have for it is very nice in the summer. I'd definitely come here again.

Absolutely loved this place! The ambience is cozy and warm, and the service is fast and friendly. My boyfriend and I were impressed with the cocktails and amazing food! The schnitzel is a must. I had the mulled cider with apricot brandy and loved that too! Awesome place.

Let me first say that the Bartenders and the drinks are tremendous. Our only worry that the food could not keep par with the drinks, but our worries were unfounded, as the food was excellent and i do mean excellent. The only negative thing I could say is that after we paid the bill, the staff got strange, my husband left a tip of $100 on a $300 bill, but no one even said thank you. When we got home, my husband thought that maybe he made a mistake. Other than that, the drinks, food and service were excellent.

M
Mary

We e enjoyed an afternoon at the bar and later, dinner. Bartender was knowledgeable about local beers and wine, was efficient and took the time to talk when not busy. The fried garbanzo beans were fantastic! For dinner, server in the bar area was attentive. Specials were all delicious. Ambience is great. Would love to come again and sit outside (it was raining that evening).

Ate here a few times, high end bar with both bar and restaurant seating and a deck outside. Craft beer selection and full on menu of staple dishes like steak as well as appetizers and desserts. Hostess was friendly and very accommodating and they will seat you right away. Full bar as well, easy street parking space that will not be a provlem. Higher end restaurant in Margretville.

Excellent food! I was so impressed with the gluten-free selection and the amazing cocktails. Our waitress Sandy was so sweet and she was happy to help us navigate the neighborhood since we are new to the area. The atmosphere was really cozy and it was not at all loud despite there being a bar on premises. The entire place was extremely classy and we will absolutely be back very soon! Thank you Sandy for making our first visit so pleasurable, and thanks to the cook for paying social attention to our food allergies.

We got to the Binnekill Tavern a little late on a Friday night (late up here is 8:15 pm) but the restaurant was pretty full and the waitstaff sat us down quickly and got us some drinks from the bar. We never felt rushed, Sandra was wonderful with the service and the food was very good. The kids said fries specifically were on point. Our kids both loved the house burger and my wife had a wonderful schnitzel while I enjoyed the chicken sandwich. It’s great to find a restaurant that you can comfortably go to each weekend for good food if need be. I can only imagine how nice this place is during the summer when we can eat outside. Also, this restaurant is built OVER a creek. So it’s very unique (or atleast I thought so) We will definitely be going back.

Great find! We came for Sunday dinner and it wasn’t very crowded. It has a great cozy winter atmosphere (fireplace, etc.) The food and drink were incredibly good. I got to enjoy a wonderful dinner with my partner and our dog! They were very accommodating with making sure we felt welcome with our pooch. The drinks were great - I got the dirty vodka martini and it was one of the best I ever had. Our food was delicious and came out at the appropriate time- the schnitzel was amazing. What really makes this place special are the lovely wait staff. We’ll def be back!

This place is great! Our server Nicole was really nice and made sure everything was good. The owner Ryan was also really nice, we had a good conversation with him. The drinks were great, specially the hot cider with apricot brandy. We got the butternut squash and celery soup, the chicken wings and the pork belly for appetizers. Then we got the steak, duck, and the chicken pot pie. For dessert we had the creme brûlée, the cheesecake and the chocolate mousse. Everything was incredibly tasty. We liked this place so much, we came back the next day for lunch. We all got burgers and they were very juicy and perfectly cooked. 100% would recommend!

Four of us have a standing reservation once a week. One week I eat expensive another week I have a burger. Both are delicious and our waitress Nicole is fabulous. Knows our habits, knows what drinks we want, and charming and funny. Throw in Dennis the bartender who yells out hello ladies like that old Cheers bar and the whole caboodle just makes it a lovely place to dine.

I’ll start with the decor inside, on the water, outdoor eating and overall ambience was pretty great. Beautiful place. The server was very attentive and obviously concerned with our experience. She was lovely. (I’ve seen some mixed reviews about service) Food, it was delicious, however the portions were not what I’d expect for the price. It was wincingly ok but i could see it being a platform for bad future reviews from patrons. Nonetheless, it was an overall good experience and I’m sure I’ll make my way there again eventually. This place is awesome; excellent ambiance, staff, and food. Nice diversity in the menu with something for everyone. All in my group was happy with their meal, from a simple burger to the more complex steak. The drink menu is varied and pairs well with the food. Nice looking building with an interesting history. In warmer months it looks like it has an outdoor eating area overlooking a river...all reasons to return. So...tasty food, friendly staff, good drinks....what’s not to like. Excellent work! If you go, cheers and enjoy!

The service was warm and professional. The outdoor seatings were great, especially for warm summer weather and the view of the river was great. The town was pretty nice. We ordered buffalo wings and soup of the day which was kale/bean soup sprinkled with bacon and cheese. Both were good but I wish the wings were crispier. Price was a bit lower than NYC’s.

Food surpassed expectations, The portions are large but unlike most restaurants where that is the case - the food is very good. We ordered Lamb Shank and Chicken Pot Pie, both hardy, excellent ingredients & well prepared, Lamb was also well presented. The service is slow because they are under staffed but the servers are extremely nice and good at their jobs. Setting is comfortable, not romantic. Good cocktails. I would give it a 5, but I generally reserve that for truly special experiences.

First off, I was so happy to hear that the Binnekill Restaurant was going to reopen. I and my wife frequently dined in the restaurant when it was previously owned by Walter and Jackie. I was even more happy when I read the press release that the new owners were going to include some of the favorites that Walter had on the menu. While I normally do not go to a new restaurant until they have been open for a couple of weeks to give them sometime to shake out the bugs. We decided that we were going to give them a shot a week after they opened. I made the reservation using open table without any problems. When we arrived at the date and time of our reservation we warmly greeted and taken to our table. The first two things we noticed is the lack of lighting, We all like subtle lighting during dinner. This was way lower then that to the point you could not read the menu. The next thing the peaceful quite dining experience we were used to was gone. The new owners removed the partition walls and the carpet off the floor. The noise level was defining so forget the idea of a quiet and romantic dinner as a mater of fact forget about talking to anyone since you can’t hear anything over the noise of the other people trying to talk to each other. The waitress stops at our table and welcomes us and leaves a menu. After looking at the menu it becomes quickly apparent that most of the items on the Binnekill Taverns website are not on the menu. Getting over this the short ribs sounded good. When the waitress returned we asked if they had a drink menu and she promptly brought us one. The wine menu was bizarre it listed wines such as Chardonnay with a price but did list what the brand of the wine. I brazenly ordered a 40 dollar of Chardonnay not knowing if it would be made by Barefoot or Kendal Jackson. We proceed to place our meal order I order the cauliflower soup and the short ribs; my wife orders the smoked trout salad and the Margreteville Duck. The waitress leaves and quickly returns and said they are out of the short ribs. I look at the menu again and decide to go with the skillet chicken. The waitress returns with a bottle of wine opens it pours the wine in both mine and my wife’s glass sets the bottle on the table and leaves. I guess that the normal process of showing the bottle label, pouring a sample pour and putting the wine in a chiller at the table was not going to happen. One of the staff members comes over and talks about the lack of lighting and states that they have ordered diffusers for the lights, so this will be improved and apologizes. Our appetizers come out my soup was just OK and my wife’s salad was bland. Were more hopeful the main course will be better. The main course took forever and the same staff member that told us about the lighting told us our meal would be out shortly on two different occasions and apologized for the delay. My wife truly enjoyed the Duck. The chicken in my meal was overcooked to the point of being dry and almost inedible. This was disappointing since the reduction sauce; Brussel sprouts and bacon were incredible. I decided to continue eating as long as you took a fork full of the chicken with the other ingredients it was barely edible. The waitress returns after we finish and ask if we would like dessert. Me and my wife order the desert just to complete the experience. My wife ordered the warm chocolate bombe cake and I order the ricotta cheese cake a coffee with a sambuca. The desserts come out my cheese cake is good my wife said hers was dry and not very good. The coffee is good but the sambuca come out in a rock bottom glass without 3 coffee beans. Bottom line the place needs time to mature and get there act polished and perfected. A meal for two that was upwards of 150 dollars you would expect better an overall better fine dining experience. We will revisit the Binnekill Tavern in a couple of months to see if they have improved. Sorry for the wordy but thorough review Jim

We made a reservation for 4 adults and 2 kids. We were shown a table in the bar area. When my wife mentioned this issue to a server/hostess, we were told “well people just came in”, to which my wife said “that’s why we made a reservation”. Okay, we can look past that. Chris was our waiter, and he is also a bartender and all around good guy. He was amazing desiring our service. My wife ordered the pork belly appetizer and mussel appetizer as her entree. The pork belly looked good, but it was small. The mussels....let me start by saying that when one orders mussels, you are taking a risk that you may get a couple sandy ones. Unfortunately, 7-10 of hers were extremely sandy. In fact, the mussels were served in a white wine, garlic butter, and Aleppo pepper broth, and while the broth in the other 3 portions at the table was this beautiful hue of orange, my wife’s was darker due to the sand. I tried a couple and the amount of sand/grit just turned me off. The dish was inedible.* My father in law had the mussels as an app, and the duck special. First, his mussels were fine, although he didn’t have much broth to go with the homemade crostini served with the dish. The duck...he asked for it medium rare (the way duck should be), unfortunately, it came out medium/medium well. There were some medium rare pieces but most were overcooked. The duck had some amazing flavor though! I ordered pan fried oysters and a braised lamb shank special. The pan fried oysters were a HUGE disappointment. First, they only came 5 to an order...not even a half dozen. Second, they were TINY! The problem with tiny pan friend oysters? They get really tough. Plus it wasn’t really filling at all. They were set on top of black beans (that were uncooked), and it had lettuce chiffonaded under the oyster (which was mentioned in the food description) but it didn’t do anything for the dish. It was a waste. The lamb shank, this thing was HUGE! It was described as being braised with tomato and rosemary, and while I did get a hint of rosemary, the tomato flavor was not there. In fact, there wasn’t any of the braising liquid served with the shank. It was served on top of some grits with rainbow carrots. There were a couple carrot rounds on my plate, but that was it. The dish was good, the lamb super tender and moist, a wee bit under seasoned, but not awful. I probably won’t order it again. Another party of 7 were seated on the other side of the wall, and they complained about the service to their server, a dirty blonde woman (the same one who gave us issues regarding tables and seating earlier), who said “yup, people keep coming in I’m the only server down here, and who would think it would be busy?” Well....it’s a Friday night, in a skiing area, between Christmas and New Years....what do you expect?!? This is also the model employee who screamed through the restaurant saying “I’ve got a party of three, put those tables together!” And other such nonsense. While people were eating! She needs a course in professionalism. The restaurant had probably 30-40 tables which is too much for 1 or 2 servers. Management needs to hire more people!! Especially during winter/Christmas break. *We did inform Chris about the sandy mussels. He said he would talk to the kitchen and see what could be done. He got so busy with his other tables, no alternatives were offered to my wife, although the dish was taken off the bill. Not really what we were looking for since my wife didn’t have anything to eat but 3 pieces of pork belly. I said earlier that Chris was a great server...and he was, unfortunately, he not only had to bartend, he also had 4 or 5 other tables ranging from our 6 top to parties of 2-4. He was overworked. He did not check on us after our food was delivered, which was because he was too busy! We ran out of water, we needed more wine, none of these requests would be filled. There were other runners/assistants running around but they ignored us and others. Great job by Chris, but there needs to be improvements to the staffing.

This place was recommended by my brother however I wouldn’t go back here. I’m giving it 3 stars because the lamb meatloaf was good and so were the oysters. However everything else was just ok and the service was lousy. They were busy because it was MLK weekend but we had a reservation and right off the bat the waitress was frantic because it was so busy for them and they ran out of so many things including pasta for kids??? That’s ridiculous but also none of this was my problem. It took 1 hr 15 to get our food and just like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas we were pay no mind Spider! Nobody ever came by to check on us except right before we got the check. You folks know what I’m talking about. Bypass this place and go to the Trattoria done the street better food and a much better experience.

Food was very good, however the staff was noticeably biased towards the regular customers that frequent this establishment. Our wait staff was not very accommodating , yet made menu variations for other people. When asked if they had beets, she said No, however my daughters salad had beets in it! Also took a long time to settle the bill.

Waited for dining on the deck because we had our dog. They said 5 minutes, they would come out to get us, and 15 minutes later we were still waiting with the deck cleared except 1 table. Had to go in and ask again. Was sat right in the sun and after 20 minutes with just water we asked if we could move in the shade. We were told no because they had to hold them in case bigger parties came. He didn't want to get in trouble again. It was 2:30 in the afternoon so it was unlikely and that proved true as there were 4 tables in the shade open at all times while we waited for over an hour to get our food. One waiter complained the whole time about the other one. It was generally an unpleasant experience. 1.5 hours sitting in direct sunlight left me sunburned and pretty unhappy. The food was good but I would never go back. Wasn't worth it at all. And what kind of manager reprimands staff for something like that.

I almost never review a place I wasn’t pleased with but having looked at the reviews, I see that our two hour lunch isn’t rare. Loved the waiter, enjoyed the ambiance, the sandwich was tasty and the wait was very long. Could be it’s hard to find cooking staff out in the country. Apparently there was one solo chef to deal with the groups of people small and large.

Fairly certain we got screwed on our bill—asked for the printout but they didn’t have it. Waited 90 minutes for our appetizer. Was told this place was awesome. Maybe for others—-won’t be back.

We went in without reservations. Didn't realize we'd need them. They accommodated us quickly anyway. Pot pie and crab cakes were amazing. Wings were not good. Our drinks didn't come until we were done eating. The old fashion literally was 3 sips.... embarrassing. Our server was honest and said a 2nd round would be 30 min since the bartender had a personal vendetta against her, or something... Also kept telling us we'd get dessert on her since we didn't get our 1st and only round of drinks for 35-40 minutes. So... nothing was on the house, not even the uneaten wings. We finished up and went to the bar. Only 6 people sitting at the bar. We sat, the bartender told us to give her a second so she can clean. Assuming she meant just where we had sat down. Nope, she continued doing all her side work putting away racks of glasses, silverware. Etc. Mind you, this was only around 7pm, not closing time... Anyway after over 10min, some guy sits down next to us and she went right to him talking up a storm, laughing, while still ignoring us. A shame, really. A tavern with a useless bartender. Food was good, the only reason it's not getting 1 star, but owners really need to fix the staffs attitude and work ethic. Awful.

the place looks nice, but the food is mediocre. the servers are not trained, and the prices are super expensive. This would be all okay for a small town restaurant, but when you're charging $20 for an entree, you better make sure that your food is good. will not visit again. do not recommend.

Just walked in on a Saturday afternoon 3:50pm 7/6/24 and told they couldn’t seat the 5 (2 are children) of us… too many people without a reservation and was practically empty! WTH? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ever hear of a restaurant turning people away when they have no patrons?

It is a great place however there is a woman hanging around the bar who looks like something from the walking dead. I mean really she is purchasing nothing at the bar and just hanging around. She will scare away all the actual paying customers.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever been apart of. The manager/ bartender treated our party terribly. I will never go back.

I was very disappointed with my visit. Owner seated us promptly and went downhill after that. Waitress brought water and menus then left. Usually we are asked if we want drinks, nope. Waitress returns to take orders and we add drinks and she says only 2 drinks( we were 3) , no 2 people ordered same type that makes 3. Bread comes to table (4 rolls) they bring about a tablespoon size pad of butter. I asked for more and never got it. Usually if you get a bowl of mussels you receive another bowl to put empty shells in, nope. Drinks empty, owner had to come by an ask for refills waitress past numerous times. My brother literally had fork sticking up in the food with other utensils across plate, kinda a symbol you are done sarcastically, again past by 2 times looking never took plate. Got check, paid, and walking out it was still there. Portions are not worthy of the price, I went home and made a sandwich.

Kristen Daddario

Wow. What a disappointment. The have extremely deceptive pictures on their website. I still remember the amount of oil in the pesto pasta. The french fries were horrible - greasy, needed a lot of salt, and ketchup was served in a plastic container rather than a dish. They also let us book a reservation at the time they were closing, so they were rushing us the whole meal. I can't believe this place is recommended by other sources.

I have never had such an unprofessional and uncomfortable experience at a restaurant. Dennis, the bartender and manager, screamed at members of our party (a group of 12) multiple times in front of his customers and staff in the middle of the restaurant. I would share the whole story, but frankly, the context doesn’t matter because no scenario should involve a bartender shattering glasses, screaming at customers, and influencing an entire restaurant staff to treat people poorly. Clearly there was some combination of misunderstandings at the start of the experience, which could have easily been resolved with any other set of staff, but not this one. This is such a shame because the food and drinks were good and quality restaurants are few and far between in this area. Unfortunately we won’t be back unless the owner either changes the management or makes a grand gesture to apologize to us.

Non-existent service. We made a reservation for 7:30. Forty-five minutes later no one had even spoken to us, much less taken a drink or food order. There was not even water at the table. We left. As no other place was open in town at that hour, we purchased food at the adjacent supermarket for our dinner. We will not be returning to Binnekill Tavern.

N
Nicole Khan

We went there at 6. We didn’t get any food till 730. When the food came it was really bad. Cold and undercooked or overcooked. It wasn’t worth the time or money. They pretended to talk to the manager but the manager never came to talk to us. I wouldn’t recommend it esp as there are other better restaurants to spend your time and money on. Go somewhere else

Tried to eat here, but the staff seemed to be having a bad day. One was cursing at another and complaining about guests at a table. I was a waiter for years, so I understand being frustrated with patrons, but do it in the kitchen, not in front of waiting guests. We obviously did not wait for a table.

***TOURIST TRAP ALERT*** 90 wasted minutes I can't ever get back. Why 90 minutes? The waitress forgot to put in the order, THAT'S why. I wish she forgot to serve it. I'm talking thimble sized food portions and EL CHEAPO moneygrabs like a $4 coffee refill. The coleslaw is flavorless yet a ridiculously small side of it will cost you $7. Systemic ineptitude runs rampant here. 👎

Super high prices. Waited 25 minutes to take our order. Waited another 25 for very small portion appetizers. Food after that was okay but the other problems ruined it. Absolutely would never go back here.

Terrible experience, from being scolded on arrival as we were late (fair enough), big deal made of finding us a table even though they had openings. After waiting over an hour for awful food, I wished they had turned us away. Wait staff were sweet and clearly overworked. Every table around us was waiting a long time for food. We were offered vouchers for complementary entrees but you’d have to pay me to come back. One to avoid.

Stopped by while traveling, but the experience was disappointing. The bartender, who was visibly stressed, walked out mid-shift, apparently on his first day, leaving us unattended. The lone server spent the entirety of our meal complaining to everyone about her boss yelling at her and being on shift alone, rather than serving us. Though she offered to comp our drinks, she didn’t follow through. When it was time to pay, she claimed the register was locked now, and insisted on cash, refusing to provide the total or a receipt. This felt like an attempt to overcharge us or pocket it all because she knew we didn’t have cash change for the supposed total. I felt really bad at first for the situation and even offered to help on her shift as I was a bartender by trade and we were staying in the area overnight, she said they were desperate. But then after further watching what played out it was really unfortunate and we couldn’t leave quick enough. Food was ok but how it’s being run isn’t.

The waitress incorrectly informed us that the chile was mildly spicy but it was the spiciest chili that we ever tasted! The waitress also kept pressing the children to order dessert after we informed her that we had cake and ice cream waiting for us at home

It was surprisingly awful. The waitress was nice but inattentive (she forgot my drink order). The food was pretty abysmal for the outrageous price. $110. bucks for three people... don't bother. The 'herb stuffed smoked trout with cauliflower' came with charred and completely raw sprigs of broccoli (did they mistake it for cauliflower?) and raw sliced leeks. Aside from the bony fish, it was a completely inedible waste of 22 bucks. My dining partners ordered the 'skillet chicken with brussel sprouts' and the sprouts were charred and raw as my alternate cauliflower. They had to really fight to find the chicken, it was more like a game hen than an actual chicken. Don't waste your time or money. If I could give it negative stars, I would.

Probably the worst service I’ve had in a very long time. We arrived with 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids) at 6pm. We just left at 8:20pm. Took agonizingly long to receive drinks because “bar was slammed”, and even longer for the food to come out. And of course when we asked how much longer for the food, it then came out immediately. The kids’ hamburgers were completely charred on the outside and undercooked inside. The waitress did not check in after the food was served and we had to ask for waters (multiple times) to be refilled. The table was not cleared as we sat and waited for the check - which we had to ask for after sitting with empty plates for over 20 minutes! Please imagine 4 kids under 8 in this scenario. Best part was that gratuity was included 🙃

This was possibly one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Waited over an hour for our food. They missed numerous items. Burger was tough, vegetable rice noodle dish was a pile of brown, and drinks were terrible. Asked for a manager on duty and was told that only manager was one of the cooks. So many mistakes, took forever, and the food was terrible. The buffalo wings were the only redeeming part of the meal. All the staff seemed miserable.

Some of the worst service I've ever received. Upon arrival we were yelled at by the hostess for booking on OpenTable because apparently they don't give you the table you request (out vs in). She begrudgingly sat us outside anyway. Hey, OpenTable works for other restaurants so that's kinda on you, lady. Not our problem. We were then served lukewarm water by the other hostess. After about 15 minutes our server finally took our drink order. She took our whole entire appetizer and dinner order as well since we'd been there so long already. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The server placed the crab cakes down and said "bang, bang. Bang, bang" which was confusing at best. The bang bang shrimp finally came along with my watery chili covered in GRATED CHEESE. Weird. And no spoon. I felt bad for the server at that point so I let it go and just ate it with a fork. Underwhelming. Our check took a solid 25 minutes. We finally asked the host for it but she ignored us. So I raised my voice and asked a second time to make sure she heard us. The taller host should really not be in customer service. She was a b**** supreme. The server and shorter host were super nice. It was just ridiculous. Probably won't go back

What's going on, you guys? We've been coming to the Binnekill since it opened. Last night, though, was one of worst dining experiences we've had. We waited 20 minutes to get water, over an hour for our food. When it finally came, the pork bellies, which were always one of my faves, were tough and ridiculously salted. Between the appetizers and before the entrees, the check actually arrived at the table. The server asked, "will there be anything else?" I said, "Yes, our food would be nice." He seemed confused. When the salmon arrived, it was miniscule, tough, and flavorless, but much better than the "prime rib", which was just a giant piece of fat, and inedible. Needless to say, we sent both back. The chef agreed to let us have the salmon at no charge. I gave it to my son, who ordered the aforementioned meat. Our servers, through it all, were apologetic and sweet. We used to love this place. Please do what you can to bring Binnekill back to what it was.

Honestly, it’s very nice place and the food was delicious. However, I am rating this restaurant one star because of the experience. As someone who has worked in the hospitality business and as a bartender for years, friendly staff and a positive atmosphere is what can make or break any establishment. My party and I had made a reservation hours prior and even chose to have a later reservation so that the restaurant didn’t have the stress of accommodating us. Upon arriving, our table was not ready and the bartender/manager could not give us an answer on when it would be ready. It was about 8PM and we were all hungry so naturally we asked about the delay and were expecting to be told “it should be ready any minute now” (as most customers would). Instead, the bartender/manager was sensitive enough to take this to heart and backlash on our group for the entire evening. Not only did he have a horrible attitude but he was slamming drinks (even broke a few glasses which is pathetic), and continued to berate his own staff members from across the restaurant by yelling/pointing in their faces and continuously pointing back at our table. This would make anyone incredibly uncomfortable and frustrated and thus ruined the experience for not only us but for those around us as well. As I said, for someone who’s worked in the business it’s your job to accommodate and bite your tongue in situations where customers are being assertive. They reserved a table at a certain time and they should be seated within a few minutes of that time! Having an attitude towards us was appalling and incredibly unprofessional. 1 star

Ordered the tavern chicken sandwich, the chicken was completely raw, ordered 2 medium burgers one came out raw, and the veggie burger had parchment paper in it as well. Service wasn’t much better than the food, no water refills. We did have to talk to them a few times to get our bill comp’d
