If you’re into BBQ, Smoke & Co in Margate is an absolute must! We had the full rack of ribs with salad and rice, plus a loaded tray with fries, charred corn, and smoked chicken. Everything was fall-off-the-bone tender, smoky, and packed with flavour. The ribs were perfectly glazed, and the spice on the fries was addictive. The vibe is casual and lively, with benches outside overlooking the sea – perfect for a sunny day. Service was quick and friendly, portions are generous, and the food truly delivers that authentic smoked taste. 🔥 Come hungry. You’ll leave full and happy. 📍 Right on the promenade with sea views. Highly recommend!

Travelled an hour to visit here and it did not disappoint! Food was absolutely amazing 10/10. Will definitely be back, we are just gutted we don’t live closer!!

Came here with my son , if you're into smoked food you'll love this place. We turned up without a booking for lunch on a week day. The staff were friendly, toilets were nice and the food amazing. We went for the platter for 2 which was just right for the 2 of us. The jalapeño lime sauce was unbelievable

This was our first time visiting Smoke & Co after recommendation from a friend. Food was amazing( lamb burger & platter for 1), James and Anti made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Excellent service. Would 100% recommend and will be coming again!

Amazing food! We came here on a Tuesday evening and ordered the platter for 2. The choice was exceptional and tasted so good. Plenty of food for choice, and all fresh. We came here as we have eaten at the Ramsgate one before but it’s tricky to get a table sometimes due to being a smaller venue. Would definitely come back again! Nicole our server was lovely and attentive. Thank you! 🩷

We came here for the first time today and was not disappointed. Relaxed atmosphere great tasting food experience nice cold drinks comfortable and clean and friendly. As a local business owner I’ll be coming back with my staff and family. Great experience!! Weather wasn’t good today but great place to be in the summer! Look forward to coming back!! Staff were young and very friendly. we were extremely well looked after and tended to. The food was out of this world and cooked to perfection. staff very polite and attentive . A memorable meal and very satisfying. we had the meat platter for two that would have fed 4 so we were offered a container to take leftovers home. thanktoy for a lovely experience, will be recommending tou to everyone.

For the size of the place you wouldn’t expect much, but it was perfect, chicken was juicy, meat was tender and the gravy was amazing, would highly recommend for anyone, 12/10 great value for money!!

Visited for the first time and it didn't disappoint. Friendly, welcoming staff, great atmosphere and the food was to die for 💀 full of flavour and the meat fell off the bone. Just had the most incredible meal and was served by Desire. The brisket was divine – tender, juicy and with a smoky flavor that just melts in your mouth. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into their craft. If you’re a brisket lover or just looking for some top-notch comfort food, this place is a must-try.

Desire was our waitress she was such a nice girl, super fast service we were told there might be delay but there wasn’t at all rly! Food was so banging couldn’t finish it all but had to take away bc it was lovely. Will defo come again, desire was a great server and a real queen! Would recommend

Wow!! Came here last night at 9pm and were very happy to hear they were still serving food. The chicken breast was absolutely amazing. The sides are massive - recommend the bbq corn and coleslaw! Everything was fresh, great quality and so tasty. For £15 including the two sides it’s well worth a visit. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff were mostly helpful, some didn’t know a few of the questions we asked but overall it was a great meal. You have to try this place!!

We saw a lot of hype for the food here, and it is justified. Thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and even had a doggy bag to take home. The service was amazing, thanks Desire and Matt for making us feel so welcome and taken care of. Our compliments to the chef!

Visited last night for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint, food was really good, staff were so happy to help and nothing was too much! Would definitely recommend it! Will definitely return and we traveled from an hour away and was worth it!

Popped in for lunch but hadn’t booked. They very kindly found a table for us. We had the Mac and cheese with pulled beef…. Great portions, really tasty and value for money. All the staff were really welcoming and attentive, especially Archie

Now I'm not a meat lover like some people are, but I really, REALLY enjoyed the food here. Especially the beef burnt ends and the loaded beef fries. Our waitress, Desire, was very helpful and kind! Honestly, such an amazing find and they even had custom made rock that came with the bill which was such a nice touch.

Had a fantastic time at Smoke and Co. The food was great and the £125 platter was excellent value for money. The service was so nice and the staff so friendly and helpful. I would just like to say how lovely Desire, Josh and James were tonight. They just made us so welcome. We will be back!

Went for a roast dinner experience and it was absolutely incredible. Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering, tasted insane and the portions were huge! Beef brisket melted in your mouth and slices were massive! Had a lovely black char around the outside, kids roast dinner is also of epic proportions. Service and atmosphere 10/10 will definitely return seeing how local it is to us!

I've been wanting to visit the Margate restaurant after we grabbed a delicious burger meal from the take away store which unfortunately since closed. So I booked a table, with OpenTable, and put in the box that it was to celebrate a Birthday. We arrived on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon and were initially sat in the middle of the restaurant. It was cold in there with other guests still wearing their coats and woolly hats. We asked if we could move table and were luckily sat by a radiator. Just a shame nobody had thought to bleed it! There was a very small electric heater behind us that did raise the temperature slightly. I'd already chosen my meal from the menu on the website so ordering was quite simple. I asked for a Guinness but was informed they had run out!!! I ordered a sharing platter for 2, with hot pineapple and hot smokey BBQ sauces and a side of burnt pork ends. A roast dinner with beef brisket was also requested. The food was served quite quickly and we tucked in. The platter consisted of smoked chicken, beef brisket, chorizo sausage, pork ribs, cajun fries, smoked mac n cheese and pit beans. Part way through I grabbed a menu from another table as I was sure something was missing and I was right, the pulled pork and pulled beef wasn't there. I asked the server and was told he'd bring it, no apology though. The brisket was really good, moist and full of flavour, sausage was good and both the pulled meats and burnt pork ends too. The chicken was a little dry but certainly still edible. The mac n cheese was fantastic. The ribs we're definitely over cooked and lacked meat on the bones and the cajun fries had a severe lack of flavour, so was a little disappointed. The roast was definitely enjoyed, plenty of veg and once again delicious brisket. The large sausage was well flavoured and tasted great. Portion sizes we're more than enough and we left absolutely stuffed. Please note there is a discretionary 12.5% added to the bill, please guys this is not the USA so why do restaurants have to copy. It was pointless adding in the original booking that it was for a celebration as this was not acknowledged by anyone. Saying that I'd definitely return for another smokey meat fest but maybe wait till the air temperature increases.

I drive past this place regularly and I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to visit for a while. I left feeling a little disappointed. The food was OK. Not too much to write home about. Chicken perhaps a little dry if I had to comment. Was it worth, in my opinion, the amount paid for it? No. (Food in attached photo cost £30, no extras, no drink and a discretionary tip) Have I had better in the area? Absolutely. It’s definitely trying to tap in to the tourists and the prices they’d usually be paying in the city. Service though was lovely, couldn’t fault anything with that, at all. The name and the menu suggests this would be a smoke shack type place you’d find in the American Deep South with all sorts of barbecue options but in reality the menu is very small and decorated like a wine bar. There’s no dedicated lunch menu, no takeaway options despite being literally on the beach. This could be so much better with a little more thought and deciding on an identity.

Food was fantastic, yes highly priced but given the quality I totally understand that, the only negative is 12.5% service charge, I get this but I'm someone that tips and prefer my own preference on this. Given the price of my meal it was most likely double the waitresses wages per hour.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The flavours and textures on the meat were top, but the Dino rib was much smaller than the one Tod (@eatingwithtod) was served in his video. Best side was the Mac&Cheese, nothing short of extraordinary. Staff were lovely & caring. Difficult to not enjoy the atmosphere of a barbecue restaurant at a Kentish seaside town.

The food was of an excellent standard, attentive service, only let down was the obligatory loud music making it an effort to converse with other members of the party. The music in question was more akin to being in a rave club so made itself even more intrusive. I did ask for it to be turned down but the guy in charge thought it funny to literally change the dial from from say 10, to 9, so barely noticeable, that's fine as there won't be another time we will be parting with £140.00 to go to his restaurant.

Smoke&Co was highly recommended by a family friend last summer. My partner and I stopped for some lunch and was seated quick by a friendly waitress. We ordered a platter for one substituting pork for beef, a side of wings and beef burnt ends and chips. The food was hot, the wings, mac and cheese were the best. Unfortunately, the beef burnt ends which were looking forward to the most as they were highly recommended were tough to chew. We asked the waitress who said it was normal and offered to check with the chef but we received the bill instead that came to £67 without further information. Great atmosphere however as foodies, the food let us down 😓

We had come down from London for a long weekend, to relax, wining and dining and to do some coastal walks…. Our host at the local Airbnb recommended this place , saying it was American style barbecue… Which was appealing/something different… I popped in earlier in the day to ask if it was dog friendly and about booking a table, the restaurant manager I assume said yes but you’ll have to sit outside,in a curt way…. Anyway, that didn’t deter us and later that evening we came down fairly early for dinner around 6-6:30pm… I popped my head in the door and we were directed outside by the same manager, the restaurant itself was 1/2 full. To our regret, it was freezing outside with a wind coming right up the beach/boardwalk. Not to mention to local alcoholics screaming and shouting under the arch’s further down the road , this certainly put a dampener on the evening ahead. A few minutes later, the pretty waitress popped out to take our drinks, and wanted to know if we wanted to order. We asked for a couple of minutes, however the drinks appeared to take quite awhile to come out, then when we place the order after about 15 minutes to our surprise, the entrees came out the same time as the main course. The waitress mentioned that’s how they do it here. What was funny as she was freezing herself and wanted to get back inside asap. She also forgot the glass of wine which I had ordered for the main course , halfway through the meal that appeared…. The food was nice, although by the time I got to the entree after eating the main course and the portion of chips they were cold due from the howling breeze…. Which was disappointing. The wife enjoyed her main course. But the waitress asked if we wanted some desert, but we declined as we were freezing…. During the meal, local homeless people were doing a performance a few yards down the road, which didn’t help either…. All in all the food wasn’t bad the service okay? However, the ambience on sitting on the street in the freezing Sunday evening breeze basically put us off. Perhaps next time we come when we are in town without a dog and sit inside… The meal with the two of us £89 . So you could argue what that would cost in London…. We went to the pub around the corner for a stiff brandy to warm up in front of there open fire….

Very much a hit and miss depending when you visit and what you order. Following recommendations, we visited the place on Sunday lunchtime. The table was pre booked and we arrived on time. About 10 tables inside and 5 tables outside. The place please on the main road on the beachfront. So you will get lovely seaview but also don't expect any parking and expect noise from bikes and crazy motorists. Drinks were served quickly (with a few mix ups). Then we had to wait for 50 minutes for the food to be served. No questions. no apologies. The food was very tasty however cost in value really depends on the dish. The single platter was really good. Sausage and burgers were fine. The dinosaur rib was a disappointment and not worth the money. Very little protein and much fat. For the price asked, there is plenty of room for improvement.

We'd chosen Smoke & Co for our party of 8 as we all loved ribs and the photos on the site of the food, looked incredible. We were warned that large platters needed to be booked in advance. We booked on a Sunday evening just after Christmas, Margate was very quiet with few people in the town. There were a few tables seated in the restaurant and it was busier than other places within the town - a good sign. We were seated and drinks were taken for our party of 8. It was only then that staff told us I couldn't have the signature burger and they had sold out of ribs. Considering this is a place that primarily sells ribs, chicken, brisket we were pretty disappointed, even more so that we were told after working through a round of drinks for 8 people. One person ordered a mojito that tasted nothing like a mojito or having any alcohol, we sent this back only to be told the staff made it themselves (irrelevant, as the issue was it was nothing like a mojito). Another was made and was no different so had to cancel these. I've reviewed hundreds of restaurants around the world, have just under 10 million views on my reviews, 50 years old, know what a mojito should taste like. We also didn't like the way we were told about all the items off the menu after being seating and into our drinks. The food that was ordered, was excellent. The burgers were great as was the chicken and mac and cheese. I have no doubt this is a great restaurant but we came for food during a quieter period to find many items not available. As we nearly all ended up with burgers it was a shame as we travelled far, we're staying in a hotel nearby, and were really looking forward to this.

We ordered the roast lamb sharing platter for four (£120 total / £30 per person) and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. While the portion size was reasonable, the presentation was underwhelming, and one of the key components — the red cabbage — was missing entirely. The roast potatoes were quite dry and slightly hard, lacking the soft, fluffy texture you would hope for. The lamb itself had decent flavour but was on the dry side, as visible in the photo. For the price point, the overall quality and presentation fell short. In hindsight, ordering individual roasts might have been a better option, as they appear to offer similar portions at a more reasonable cost. It’s a shame, as we were looking forward to a special meal, but unfortunately it didn’t quite deliver on value or quality this time.

Food was very tasty, however the portions of food were not a good size for the money, the restaurant was chilly inside, the service was very basic, overall food brilliant. Me my partner and my daughter had 1 meat sharer and 1 chicken with rice dinner. And a drink each....£125...plus they added a service charge of £12. Not a good look. We will not be going back.

We attended as a family of 11 to celebrate my husband’s and daughter’s birthdays. despite mentioning the special occasion at the time of booking, nothing was arranged or acknowledged, which was disappointing. We arrived 5–7 minutes before our booking time, however our table was not ready and was still occupied. We were asked to wait and were not seated until approximately 20–25 minutes later. We had pre-ordered a roast leg of lamb with cauliflower cheese, but upon arrival were informed that the cauliflower cheese had run out. We were told it could be made fresh, which would slightly delay the food, and we agreed. Unfortunately, the delay was far longer than expected. Food did not begin arriving until around 1 hour and 15 minutes after being seated. The lamb platter arrived before plates, which took a further 8 minutes to be brought out, by which time the food had cooled. The situation was made worse by the restaurant being quite cold, with the door frequently left open due to people entering and exiting, including Deliveroo drivers, allowing cold air to blow directly onto our table. Service issues continued throughout the meal. We had to ask for plates, cutlery was missing for half the table, and gravy was served in bowls due to a lack of gravy boats (only two were available). These bowls were difficult to pour from, and one slipped from my hand, spilling gravy across the table. It appeared the restaurant was understaffed, which impacted the overall experience. One young member of staff was particularly helpful and apologetic, which we appreciated, but the service overall felt disorganised. Our lamb platter came out nothing like the instagram photos, most of the roast potatoes were over cooked and literally 2 per person! On a positive note, the leg of lamb was cooked to perfection, and the Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets were very good. However, some of the brisket was chewy, and there was not enough vegetables provided for four people sharing the lamb. The little people were sharing the half chicken roast we ordered an extra Mac and cheese for them and 3 extra Yorkshire puds which they charge £3.50 per Yorkshire which I feel was an absolute rip off. Our food was being cleared not once were we asked if we wanted to order more drinks throughout our meal we had to call the waitress/waiter over and not once were we asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. Overall, it was a real shame that the quality of some of the food was overshadowed by poor service and organisation, especially given that this was a special family celebration. Deffo not a place we would return to or recommend complete disappointment

We took a takeaway platter for two with BBQ grilled corn for the side. Corn was hard, bland and overall tasteless, only small portion of bbq sauce wiped on it. Worst corn ever had. Not grilled enough. Sausage was overdone, burnt, but weirdly best of the bunch. Chicken - dry, hard to chew, no taste on the meat. It felt that it was just poured over with spices and put straight into the grill, not marinated etc. Chicken was also overcooked and skin was burnt. Sliced beef briskets were so dry, felt more like beef jerky. Tastes, no juiciness, no smokey texture. Pulled pork was bland. Ribs were charcoal all the way through, dry as a bone, hard to eat and chew. The bottom of the tin was dry, that gives a good idea how dry everything was. Mac and cheese also bland. Not sure what happened with our platter, did they put together scraps of the day and hopefully we aren't coming back anyway, so didn't care about the quality at all.. So disappointed. People behind the counter were really nice.

First time in this place was actually quite exciting to try it but had heard mixed reviews from people saying it was over priced and average. Firstly the cocktails are not made fresh which was disappointing with the size of the bar. The waitress literally said maybe we have the passion fruit margarita on the delivery. The pedron peppers had no salt on so we had to put it on ourselves although the salt grinder was empty so then had to ask. The mac and cheese was forgotten had to ask for it and then it was not made fresh tasted powdery like microwave mac n cheese. Chicken was dry. The beef was over done. They did offer to give us so more but at that point I just wanted to go. The food in general flavour wise wasn’t outstanding it was below average to be honest. And then when it came to the bill they had put an extra large glass of wine on it that we had to ask to have removed. I think this place is fine if you want to eat some flavourless over done meat not sure it was the dining experience we expected. Wont be returning.
