Best seafood around. The outside area is dog-friendly but rather windy. Update: There are breakfasts and there is Little Rock breakfast. The seared scallops on sourdough was among the top 3 breakfasts that I have had all year. The taste was spicy and bursting with scallop umami yet light enough for breakfast. The preparation was on point. The presentation was outstanding. Service was friendly as usual. The seaside location couldn’t be beat. Despite having eaten here dozens of times, Little Rock continues to surprise me. 👍
What an amazing find by the sea! Great atmosphere to begin with. The menu is so well organised you have great choice of food and drinks. Our little girl loved Cod cheeks and chips! Crab with brown crab mayo is AMAZING. What a little star Polly is !!! We watched her work and were amazed by her. Thank you all!
We went to Little Rock 2 weeks ago and it was overall a good restaurant. Food and service was great It gets busy quickly so better book or walk in early The highlight for us was the catch of the day which well cooked and the prices were reasonable Main disappointment were the scallop though. 3 small scallops for £17 as a starter is a bit too much
Had a wonderful birthday lunch here and even though it was wet and windy outside it was super cosy inside. A stunning location right on the seafront. The food was delicious and so well cooked. I had the catch of the day plaice, my niece had soft shell crab and partner had cod cheeks. Super chocolate brownies according to the kids. Downside they forgot our starters but were very apologetic. Turned out we really didn’t need starters, main course and desert was plenty. Slightly stingy on portion sizes for chips and salad but all delicious. The kids eat free was such a good offer as with 3 kids and 3 adults it worked out well. Service was excellent and so was the atmosphere - relaxed but very special.
Went here for a special occasion and it was very good. There was a good selection of seafood in the catch of the day and the general menu is good. The prices are not too bad for a seafood place situated so close to the shore. The service was excellent and can't be faulted, it made the visit even better... Thanks The Huss curry was excellent and portion size was just right. The Skate wing was a little over cooked, so next time I will have it grilled and not pan- fried. All in all, a great little place, don't be put off by the whole shipping container thing, it's comfortable inside. Definitely recommend and will visit again.
Super informal, bistro-style restaurant bordering on the stoney beach to the South Side of Folkestone's harbour arm. There is plenty of internal and shaded external seating. All aspects of service were excellent, from seating, to order taking, to food presentation right through to clearing and presentation of the bill. There is a limited seafood-based menu which we found to offer plenty of choice and allowed for speedy service. All the plates, dishes and glassware are themed in same nautical white and blue which is a nice touch. Cutlery is of a good standard too. Our dishes of pale ale battered cod cheeks were very good and extremely well presented. The fish was tender, tasty and fresh and the pale ale batter was crisp and delicious, not at all oily. The home-chipped potatoes were among the best I've tasted anywhere. This was our first visit and we'd most definitely return. A great new find.
There are quite a few seafood restaurants in Folkestone and I wasn’t sure which one I should go for, but I’m glad I chose Little Rock! The restaurant is built in a container right on the beach, next to the old station. Not only the vibe is great, but also a lovely ocean view. What can you wish for more? The food! 💕 We LOVED the freshly caught seafood here. Appetisers are particularly great, my favourites are Crabs and scallops. We live in London and it's almost impossible to have fresh and decent-sized scallops no matter how much you pay for them. We also had the catch of the day for the main, pan-fried Plaice and skate. It was brilliant too. People there were also friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the whole experience. Definitely we will come back again!
Bottomless brunch was delicious - excellent customer service! We’ve been for this brunch before and the quality and service has somehow improved despite being great previously! The food choice is great, something for everyone. The food is cooked to perfection, drinks are just right and replenished quickly when you’ve finished one off, another is being offered. Will definitely visit again for brunch in the future.
Such a great location and atmosphere, felt like I was on proper holidays. Really good food with my highlight being the scallops. But the seafood platter was also so fresh and really big portion. The wine was like 3 sips though so they could be a bit more generous with that. Otherwise Great experience!
On a sunny day, the lunch here transports you to the beaches of California! The food is impeccable, of the new wave of modern British cuisine where local and fresh ingredients are masterfully made. The catch of the day are cooked to perfection. Good sauces and fresh sides. The mackerel is impressive. On starters, the crab is a little bland and there could be a local ale on the menu too (not just Camden from London).
Great seafood in a relaxed atmosphere! We came for dinner and really enjoyed both the fish and chips and mussels! Both had really fresh seafood and great portions! Service was also very welcoming and all in a great location on the harbour and pier. Would love to come back and try the market day fish also! Great spot
1st in for Brunch with cocktails and coffee at 10am. Had the Cod Cheeks, and Crab Royale. Perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Owner was nice enough to gift us a free 'Anniversay Plate' of cherry sorbet laced with just enough booze to peak interest. Lazy Sunday beach vibe: bright and breezy, clean and fresh decor. Large outside terrace - perfect for people watching. Attentive friendly service. Recommended
Little Rock, set on the old railway station in a shipping container, is a lovely inviting restaurant with great sea views, contemporary decor with a warm atmosphere. The tables well spaced out and you’re made to feel very welcome from the start. We were a little late due to traffic, the waitress assured us it would be no problem and the kitchen would be fine to wait . We had a couple of beers while we looked through the menu, which had a good variety of dishes complemented with daily catch specials. The choices we made were crab with a sour dough and scallops with the cod cheeks, peppery watercress and skin on fries to follow. We did want oysters to share but sadly that had run out. Both starters were great, the crab well prepared and no shell, the scallops well cooked with a nice colour on the outside while remaining succulent. The main courses did not disappoint, often cod cheeks can be over cooked, not these, the chef had got the timing perfect with crispy batter and moist cod flesh inside, the chips and cress complemented perfectly the meal. To finish off a knickerbocker glory and raspberry ice, both delicious. An expresso to finish rounded off a very enjoyable meal with my son and the a great start our trip to the rugby World Cup opening ceremony and game in Paris. The waitress was great, knowing when to talk and we had a good chat about the catering industry. Highly recommend if you want great food and service try this place.
Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst walking down towards the harbour and honestly I’m so glad we did. The food itself was fantastic, my SO isn’t a fish fan but got a couple of sides as it was only lunch, and upon trying the fish said it was the least offensive fish ever. The cod literally tasted like it had just been caught that morning, and all of the fish is stored on ice, on display in the restaurant. Then we had the knickerbocker glory sundae for dessert and they were divine, it tasted like a very grown up version of a typically “kids” dessert. The staff are wonderful and greeted us as soon as we walked in, we never felt rushed to do anything either. We ordered, ate and paid in our own time. We would 100% come back here again
Popped in for lunch and it was delicious. Had the fish and chips on special and it was super fresh and tasty. Others enjoyed their catch of the day. Cocktails and suds courtesy of Cloudwater were also enjoyed. Friendly service and a sunny spring day on the beach topped off the experience.
Delicious food and absolutely brilliant service. I didn't catch my waitresses name but she was brilliant, so friendly and had excellent knowledge of the food and drinks. Came to treat myself to a meal for 1 and enjoy the ambiance and I did just that in this peaceful atmosphere! Thank you. (Visited 29/07/22)
Seafood is so delicious. Service is good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Very tasty food and a comfortable eating environment, conveniently located right on the beachside; the seafood is fresh and expertly prepared to preserve its original flavor.
We had wanted to eat here for ages, but we normally have a four legged friend with us. The food here was beautifully cooked. The service outshone the amazing food. Brilliant meal.
Fabulous location and views, breakfast was all quality ingredients, cooked just right and for about a £1 more than my local cafe, so great value for such a location. Friendly staff too.
Love the seaside vibe of this place, and we keep coming back. Had the larger plate of chilli & garlic shell on prawns - among best we’ve ever had and we would get a plate each next time! Along with sour dough bread to dip, and the chips which were to die for. Lovely service as always.
Arrived @ 7:15 without a reservation on sat night, and they managed to squeeze us in for dinner before closing at 8! We were grateful they managed to seat us. Really sweet & helpful staff and amazing food. Seafood platter for 2 was delicious.
Enjoyed a fantastic dinner here. Amazing and relaxed venue located next to the beach and connected to the renovated and pedestrianized Folkstone Harbour station platform. Really lovely staff serving great seafood. Would 100% come back.
Absolutely fabulous first dining experience today at Little Rock. Really lovely atmosphere and staff, thank you. Easy to book online and didn't feel rushed at all.
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere at Little Rock Folkestone today. Great choice of amazingly fresh fish and locally sourced sides. Excellent wine, cocktail and fizz selection too. Topped off with fabulous service from Gar who was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine on offer as well as the sister restaurants and bars to Little Rock and the Folkestone Harbour area. We had a fabulous evening exploring there after a delicious meal at Little Rock. Will be back.
Wow!! Been before but the service and the food were incredible thank you Tate and your team. Had the best fish soup was so full when the main was delayed I was relieved!!😊 .....but the team were disappointed by their own service they looked after us with a complimentary bottle of prosecco!! Beautiful view incredible food nothing disappointed us ❤ can't wait until May x
Another fabulous lunch at Little Rock. Both fish dishes were cooked to perfection, with a great choice of accompanying sauces and sides. Friendly and very efficient staff, and a great atmosphere at Saturday lunchtime despite the February weather!
A beautiful seafood restaurant with an incredible view of the beach and sea. Great ambience for families, our party consisted of adults, newborn, toddler and teenagers and everyone had a fab time. The food was sensational; the dover sole, the prawns, yum yum take me back please!! The children were very pleased with their fish and chips orders, it was food coma return trip home .. The service we received was as charming as the vibe. We shall be back and I couldn't recommend it more.
I was given a gift voucher for Little Rock, book a table on line for 3. One of the party is 13, but a big 13 year old. We were greeted immediately and shown your table. Drinks order was placed, they did have what I wanted but the lovely chap offered to pop to next eatery it get it. I settled for a different brand gin and tonic and it was perfect. We ordered Whitebait and Squid to start, the whitebait were quite bit but perfectly cooked, the squid was spot on, I could have eaten twice the amount. Mains were catch of the day, pan fried mackerel and a pan of steamed mussels. The mussels are a must have they were perfectly cooked and seasoned, best I’ve had for sure. The mackerel was also spot on no complaints whatsoever. The 13 year old struggled to find anything on the main menu, you know what kids are like no burgers!!! He was offered the children’s menu which was very good of them as usually it’s under 10’s. Mac and cheese with sourdough it was. He loved it. Set right on the beach with lovely views. Plenty of outdoor seating. I would advise you to book in advance Well worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back
The seafood was fresh and the food was absolutely delicious! It was my first time visiting and it did not disappoint, there were even a few pleasant surprises. Since I brought my dog, we had to sit outdoors. It was a bit chilly at night, but other than that, everything was great!
Had a delicious lunch here a few days ago. Everything was perfectly cooked and well presented. Excellent service too and we thought the prices very reasonable considering the outstanding quality.
Lovely affordable beach restaurant. We were a big group with a baby and the service was really good and they catered for us well. Would definitely recommend!
A bit slow with the review but bltn. Little Rock was on the list for a while, but on the day it couldn't be saved by the fantastic location, decor and excellent staff. Scallops to start, the pieces were nice but the sauce was way off the mark, heavy curry powder overpowered everything - a really odd one, not sure if it's still on the menu. Cod cheeks were tasty but a bit overcooked I'd say, the sole I think it was, was great. Still pretty good and can't argue with the vibe.
This was a bit of a mixed bag. I found the service a little stand off-ish. My crab had a hair in it, my mussels were delicious, the kids meals were not really a hit. But the aesthetic of the place is to die for! It looks amazing, I would definitely go back as they dealt with the issues we had with the meals quickly. I'd like to think we just caught them on an off day maybe with the service.
Four of us went to Little Rock beachside restaurant at 1pm today. We were met, greeted, and shown to our table. The restaurant was busy, and we got a drink, and ordered our food. We had sole, two portions of skate wings, and cod with chips. The food was served hot, and all of us really enjoyed the food. The staff were pleasant, happy and looked after us. We will go there again !! Highly Recommended !!
Location is one of the most important factors for the property. For a seafood restaurant as well, a lot of additional flavour. Sea view, fresh seafood, attentive staff. Storm outside, cozy atmosphere inside. Fabulous contrast, plus friendly staff and good food. Place to visit.
We were all really looking forward to our lunch at Little Rock. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and a great location. Being a sun day also really helped. The highlight of our meal was the service. All the staff were super friendly and made the trip for us. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The biggest issue was the food was under seasoned. The fish soup lacked a fishy taste, scallops were over cooked and general lack of flavour in everything. We also had the grilled mackerel and skate and those too lacked flavour. The cod cheeks were good with a really crispy batter. The highlights of the meal were the tartar sauce, which was fantastic, and the cocktails. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad day but such a shame. Everything needed more salt. Hopefully we will try it again and have a better experience. Service was great.
This location is amazing - the view and surroundings are just spectacular on a sunny day. All the staff are welcoming and pleasant however they are not as attentive as one might hope. We had a 2pm booking and after a fairly decent wait we ordered starters, mains and a drink. The scallop starters and delicious bread and butter arrived fairly soon and we enjoyed those. We then waited almost an hour before our mains were brought out. Within that time nobody once came to see if we needed more drinks (we did) and all the staff walked around with their heads down so making eye contact was very difficult. We got up out of our seats to enquire twice about when we might get our main course, both times we were just told they would check - and nobody actually came back to give us an eta on when we might eat. We ordered lobsters for mains, they were the driest lobsters I had ever eaten. Even the meat inside the claws had completely dried out. The chips were delicious. I can’t imagine the chef’s don’t know how to cook lobster, so I can only assume our food had been left under a heater to dry out for a long time. It’s really unfortunate because this is a beautiful place - and I can forgive the odd badly cooked item but when we are paying close toe £40 per lobster I expect more. Very disappointing food. Great view.
Had a few excellent meals here, with great staff and good food. However, last time we popped in the new front of house was incredibly rude when we asked if they had any tables free. Massive attitude problem. He was also separately very rude to our friends who were visiting. Would be a real shame if this lovely restaurant goes down the toilet because of one staff member, but we won’t be visiting while he’s working.
Top class racism. Both the servers and manager tried micro-aggressive language. I had good expectations, want to get some oysters and drinks. Was refused a table saying we can’t have “too less food”, was told not to sit at a big tables in shade despite there were 7 tables available, there literally now one competition for tables and the time is so far from peak time 6pm.
