My second visit and still my favourite restaurant. A foodies heaven indeed! Each dish beautifully presented and delicious. Great wine list, especially love the local Kent offerings. The staff are very attentive and always friendly. Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped into Land+Sea, the staff were absolutely wonderful! Immediately made us (and our dog) feel welcome, comfortable and happy. Wished me happy birthday and continued to be just the best, ending our meal with a cute cake (courtesy of my partner, but a mean feat for the staff, considering the crazy winds the candles were competing with!) Huge thank you to the chef - what an awesome talent. The food was INCREDIBLE! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be popping by next visit!

Wonderful food and great service. We loved all the dishes and could have eaten all of them again! Delicious! We had a bottle of the Balfour Albariño- 🍾🥂 fab.

A brilliant experience overall. Decor creative, relaxed atmosphere, great background music, and really informative about the menu. Most importantly, the food was fresh, with interesting blends of flavours, and really tasty. We had the pleasure of sitting next to the pass and seeing all the dishes being sent out. Will definitely be visiting again.

On a recommendation of a chef friend of ours, we booked lunch on a beautifully sunny Wednesday last week. Lovely reception from the staff. Menu is tapas style but infinity variable. We ordered five dishes to share, and this was plenty for the three of us. the food freshly cooked in an open kitchen and is nicely presented but tastes brilliant! Posh cheesey chips are magnificent. Would happy recommend and come back when we are next in the area. Good wine list, some really interesting alcohol free wines reasonable pricing.

What a gem of a place. Immaculate prompt efficient service! Great coffee and generous well cooked food. We had kippers, poached eggs with bacon and smoked salmon all cooked to perfection.

We had an absolutely amazing meal this evening, wonderful eclectic meal, great service.

We popped in as we were passing and decided on some lunch. The staff welcomed us and the young lady looking after us was so lovely. The menu is varied and we had olives and sour dough bread for nibbles which was incredible. The butter with the salt flakes on complimented the sough dough perfectly. My wife had the lamb and I had the pork ribeye both dishes were cooked to perfection and we enjoyed every bit of it. The side dishes were fried potatoes, with herb and anchovies, jersey royals in garlic and purple sprouting broccoli. The food was incredible and the service exceptional. Thank you to all the staff and the young lady who looked after us we will definitely be back.

Land + Sea in Whitstable is a gem in the Kent dining scene, offering a well-crafted blend of British coastal cuisine with a modern twist. Located near the picturesque waterfront, it sets a cozy yet upscale atmosphere that feels both inviting and refined. The décor reflects the coastal charm of Whitstable, with nautical touches and a relaxed, intimate ambiance. The menu at Land + Sea is thoughtfully designed around fresh, local ingredients, especially the seafood, which takes center stage. The tapas-style dishes are a particular highlight, allowing diners to explore a variety of local flavors in shareable portions. The cuttlefish, for example, is tender with a perfect char, often dressed in a light, tangy marinade that brings out the best in its delicate flavor. The cod cheeks, known for their buttery texture, are lightly seasoned and seared to create a crispy exterior with a soft, flaky center. Paired with a lemon or aioli dipping sauce, they capture the essence of Whitstable’s fresh, ocean-sourced cuisine in each bite. If seafood isn’t your preference, there are still plenty of choices, like expertly prepared steaks and seasonal vegetable dishes that showcase the quality of Land + Sea’s ingredients. Drinks-wise, the wine list and cocktail offerings are curated to complement the menu, with options ranging from local vineyards to creative, fresh-ingredient cocktails. The atmosphere at Land + Sea is a charming blend of coastal elegance and warmth. The interiors are tastefully nautical with a modern, relaxed design that’s equally suited for casual meals or special occasions. The staff add to the experience, striking a balance between attentive and approachable. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and provide helpful recommendations, ensuring each guest feels welcome and well-cared for. Overall, Land + Sea in Whitstable beautifully captures the essence of coastal dining, with fresh, flavorful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a must-visit for seafood lovers and anyone seeking a memorable meal by the sea.

Food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. We had six small plates and all were layered with flavour and textures. The art work in the restaurant is so eye catching and suits the vib. Chef talked us through a few plates and the whole service was friendly. Definitely coming back!

A little cosy restaurant, with simple but tasty dishes. My friends found this place and it was good! Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 hakes and 2 skates (they ran out of sea bream 🥲) plus 2 bites to share, and that was enough for the night, plus the fish tasted fresh, and easily peeled off. Customer service was good and attentive. Highly recommended place if you're eating in Whitstable

Stunning food and great staff. Food was easily the best sea food I’ve had and definitely up there with Michelin and AA Rosette rated restaurant I’ve been too. Would 100% recommend this place!

Had lunch here during a visit to Whitstable. The food was excellent and so was the service. The servings were also very generous even for sharing. We really enjoyed our meal here, specially the cabbage and the fish with mussels. Want to come back here when we visit again!

Really impressed by the simple but well crafted food here. The mushrooms on toast that I ordered came quickly and was flavoursome and creamy without being overly rich. The coffee options were limited when I visited but the filter coffee was very good and refills were offere. The server was extremely welcoming and helpful.

Wow, what an amazing experience. Tiger prawns, bhaji, croquette and halloumi for starters. Then pork and lobster for main, absolutely gorgeous. The waiter matched each course with a wine that was perfectly suited. Smash

Incredible food! Best I had in whitstable in a long time as lobster shack and others just stopped taking pride in their food and service unfortunately. I wish there was sea views and than this would be absolutely perfect!!

Wow wow wow! We'd heard how good this place was, and we weren't disappointed. From start to finish, the food served was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who fancies something just a little different, but that doesn't cost the earth. Well done to everyone from the chefs to the waiting staff, it was superb!!

I had the brush here and it was excellent. The sourdough bread was thick and tasty and the serrano ham was great. I particularly liked the scrambled egg on the toast. The staff seemed very pleasant and the restaurant was spotless

Great service. They were able to accommodate us (and our dog) very quickly with their outdoor seating and provided blankets so we could comfortably enjoy our meal. The food was phenomenal and we would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Went for brunch with friends. My friend and I had the serrano, scrambled eggs and tomatoes on toast which was divine. Our friend has the mushrooms on toast which she said was delicious. Easy to find parking nearby.

Stopped in on the 15th, food unreal, as to be expected by the chefs they have here. Be hard to find a better menu in Whitstable really. Also really friendly service, thanks guys.

I wouldn’t normally write a Google review but the food was so fantastic that I had to. We ordered multiple tapas style dishes and I liked every one so much I wouldn’t have been able to pick a favourite. They flavours are imaginative and the food is well presented. The staff were also very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Land and sea!

Excellent food! Was skeptical at first since it was a little out of the main town and the spot seemed quiet (but then again we were visiting on a particularly gloomy day when trains weren’t working as normal) BUT it was so so so worth it. Everything was delicious. I’d 100% visit again.

This is an excellent restaurant. We were a group of 5 and were welcomed well and sat at a spacious table, plenty of room, nice relaxed vibe in the restaurant. Drinks menu very good with plenty of Kent/English options. We were guided to an English wine which was really excellent. Service was superb, attentive and thoughtful from all we dealt with. For example, one of our party dropped their knife on the floor. There were no waiting staff in the room at the time, but despite that the sound had been heard and within seconds someone was over asking what item was needed - that's over and above. The food was wonderful - varied menu, lots of interesting things to try, all beautifully cooked and presented. There were many highlights but the cabbage with crispy onions and the deep fried pickles stood out, and the salmon tacos were to die for! In short, do yourself a favour and make the short (and lovely) walk along the coast from Whitstable to Tankerton to Land and Sea - you won't regret it!

One of our favourite places to eat. Wonderful fresh food made to order. Delightful imaginative menus. Great atmosphere. Delicious scallops, satay king prawns and lemon mushroom tagliatelle. Always enjoy eating here. Can fully recommend. We had three small dishes for brunch: satay king prawns, scallops, mushroom lemon tagliatelle. Plus toasted sourdough bread. Divine!

First time visiting Land & Sea over the weekend with a big group (11) and we were really impressed, we were sat in the back room. The team were so accommodating with menu tweaks, the service was spot on, and the food was absolutely lovely. A true hidden gem - would highly recommend !

Just returned from a lunch, and have to say how great an experience we had. The service was attentive but not intrusive, great atmosphere and intimate. We were sat next to the open fronted kitchen and enjoyed banter and suggestions straight from the chef. The food was to die for. There are a lot of restaurants that have no concept of the difference between 'taste' & 'flavour'. Land & sea gets it, completely. My mouth was blown away by the flavours, some subtle, others more so, but the blends on each plate worked really well together. Menu descriptions gave key pointers of what each dish would be like, but there were still some lovely surprises when dishes arrived. Definite 10/10. Wishing you all the best, we will be back for sure.

We managed to get a table by complete chance when passing by last Sunday, and I’m so glad we did! Incredible food across the board, easily one of the best lunches we’ve had in a long time. Everything was delicious, but particular standouts included the fried pickles, the scallop with smoked chipotle, and tiger prawns with miso and jalapeño butter Heartily recommend if you are in the area!

What a find. Exquisite food, first class, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful flavours with fresh ingredients. Something different. The best meal we have eaten in a very long time. The lamb, courgettes and deep fried bread and butter pudding real showstoppers. Thoroughly recommend.

Today I was lucky enough to have lunch at ‘Land and Sea’ in Tankerton. I visited the restaurant with my father. As soon as you enter the premises you can’t help but notice the welcoming Mediterranean feel. The waiter was instantly attentive. We were able to choose where we wished to sit, and it wasn’t a problem that we opted for a four-seater table. We were offered water as soon as we sat which we politely declined, instead I chose a white wine, and my father chose a zero lager. The menu states clearly that all dishes are designed to be shared however my father was wanting scallops and I’m not keen on fish, so I ordered the rib-eye pork. To share we ordered the frites with truffles alioli. The food was incredible. It was cooked freshly and was served hot. The flavour in the pork was like nothing I have ever tasted before; I can’t wait to have it again. My father was equally pleased with the scallops, and considering he has a small appetite, he cleared the plate. The pork could have served two as it stated but I managed it (nearly). For dessert we had the bread-and-butter pudding and the dark chocolate mousse with sour blackberries and walnut. Again, both dishes were exquisite. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

An absolutely sublime evening of exquisite food and warm, welcoming service. Land + Sea offers everything you would want from a restaurant. We shared a number of dishes, each were utterly delicious as the next. The whole fish with curried leek sauce was a real highlight, as well as the king prawns in satay sauce. Fried pickles are a must! The biggest surprise was the dessert of baked yogurt - unlike anything we had ever tried but just sensational. We cannot recommend this place enough and really look forward to visiting again as soon as we can!

Always a perfect place to dine on fresh, super tasty dishes, cooked with both knowledge and love. Great wine list too. Warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy food at it's best.

Reallllly enjoyable experience at Land and sea. Some very favourable dishes to which the menu can change daily (how cool is this…). We had the masala sea bream which was full of flavour, the prawns, scallops both cooked full of tasty sauces! Accompanied with some Parmesan frites and hispi cabbage all very yummy and would certainly go back. A lovely little spot, the two chefs cook it all in the open planned kitchen and you sense the aromas as you enter the restaurant. Lovely and thanks!

Inviting interior and attentive service. Would have been good not to have to ask for serving spoons for every dish, every time. Hits - Oysters (fresh and the relish was delicious) - Sardine and octopus ragu with orecchiette (flavoursome and the pasta cooked just right) - Cod loin and clams Misses - Scallops (too oily and too many flavours competing) - Fried bread and butter pudding (was more deconstructed and the bread was very sweet and too crispy)

G
Gary Bowdery

The food was quite good, I'm not sure we'd rush back, especially when there are so many new, high quality, offerings on and around Thanet. However, it was a good meal, a nice table bordering the front terrace. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when ordering, ensuring just the right amount of food was ordered. The oysters were a little lacking in flavour, despite being dressed in a strawberry hot sauce - I couldn't get strawberry or hot sauce really so it was just blah... I did not enjoy the scallops personally, but my wife did and she ate mine. There was quite a lot of oil on most of the dishes, this could definitely be dialled back a bit.

I write this review in the hope that it will be taken as constructive criticism as we really loved going here when they first opened . We have been going to Land and Sea since it opened just after we moved here in 2023. We are now regular locals . On our last four visits the service has been terrible. I went in this week for lunch , the place was very busy and only one waiter cleaning tables , serving food, making drinks and coffees and doing bills . I had lunch and two drinks , then waited half hour for a dessert menu and another drink . Tried to catch his eye , walked straight past me . Eventually gave up on another drink and dessert and went inside to pay my bill . He walked past me three times and totally ignored me . Didn’t recognise me when I came in as a regular that eats there often, both alone and with family . We go to the lazy lobster and the service is totally different. They know us by name and even give us free taster drinks to sample , on occasion. We have spent a lot of money in both places . First bad experience we put down to them being busy . Third / fourth time, poor , borderline rude service . Aren’t the local people that support the place in winter ( as well as summer) important? Owner needs to rethink his staffing levels . I don’t single one staff member out because on all four occasions , both male / female waiters or waitresses have been borderline rude. I think they are just too understaffed to consider customer service ( and a smile ) endears people to come back regularly . It’s a shame as we used to love the place but unfortunately we will be looking to eat elsewhere from now on.
