Opinions de China Doll Massena
My family and I go here often. It is our favorite Chinese food around. It may be a smaller selection but it is always fresh. The waitress (we always seem to have the same one) knows our drinks and has them on the table before we have our coats off. Tonight I happened to ask what brand of hot tea they have because I always get it and just really enjoy it. She brought me out a bag to take home. Such a sweetie. And the food was hot, fresh and delicious as always.
The food is always fresh when we go there and when we do go and it’s not fresh the staff explains it close to closing hour and brings out whatever we need. Even though I see a lot of bad review on their noodles, I LOVE THEIR THIN NOODLES AND WONTON SOUP IS THE BEST!
Very good food and service. No wait for a table, kid friendly, fresh food and not overly expensive. Worth the money.
I Have been eating at this restaurant for 40 years. It is one of my absolute favorites. Surprisingly enough, despite all the negative reviews on their Lo mein noodles they are my favorite. Like all Chinese buffet restaurants, freshness and timing is Key. If you show up at 3:00 for Lunch or 8:30 for supper the food will most likely not going to thrill. They have hands down the best wonton soup EVER. The best part about China Doll is they have what I refer to as home style Chinese. It seems to be their own family recipes, not like all the other cookie cutter Chinese buffets in upstate New York who all seem to get their ingredients from the same distributor. If you like spicy I suggest the black pepper chicken over the general Tso. Cheers
This was our first time ordering from China Doll. I live across town from them. I placed my order online and it said about a 45 minute wait. No problem. It actually only took 14 minutes after ordering, my food was at my door! Very fast! The food was only so-so, though. My wife ordered shrimp lo mein and it was a bland, flavorless dish made with angel-hair pasta noodles, not lo mein noodles, and no type of sauce at all. I "special requested" my General Tso's chicken to be made "extra spicy" if possible. It was pretty bland and not spicy at all. The fried rice was good. The egg rolls were not what we are used to at basically EVERY other Chinese restaurant that we've ever ordered from - a round, filled roll. These were flat on each end with a bite of filling in the middle. Good flavor, but very disappointing otherwise. We've recently moved to the area and were looking for a new Chinese restaurant to order from. Unfortunately, China Doll is not it. Pros - lightening fast delivery. Good fried rice. Cons - bland food. Bad egg rolls. Disappointing.
I am not a fan of the food here, 40$ worth of food just for flavorless food with little to no seasoning, wonton soup tasted like a warm water, overall a bad experience and will not be ordering here again
I just spent $60-$70 on food. No flavor. If I closed my eyes and took a bite of the white rice and then a bite of the sesame chicken, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Fried rice, Noodles, beef something for my wife. No flavor. We are literally headed out to get Diner for the second time tonight. Also, sesame chicken shouldn't be mushy. Delivery guy was nice so that's all I got for positivity.
I agree with the review from Eric. The egg rolls are not traditional - they are like a folded, empanada type of roll. The lo mein is angel hair pasta with no sauce or flavor. The garlic chicken is spicy enough but not great. Chicken wings weren’t terrible. This place used to be a lot better, not sure if they changed owners or recipes but the food quality has definitely gone down. Not a lot of choices in the area but I won’t be going again.
Well, I’m a truck driver kind of stuck over here for the night so I ordered delivery delivery. Prior to ordering I had read some of the other reviews online. The order taker was pleasant, took my order accurately Bill came through about $21 a three dollar delivery fee and I agreed to 3.50 for tip. I was quoted 45 minutes took about 35 minutes to get my food. That was the best part of the food I got the general chicken was OK but not nearly spicy, I got the cream cheese wonton. They were hot and tasty, but the sauce was way too and for my liking; Additionally, when I got ready to eat my food, I realize that they had failed put a fort in the back. Luckily, I was able to find one in my truck so I could meet my food. Otherwise I would’ve had to call them and have them bring me a plastic fork. That maybe the spice is a little tone down for the northern palette, but I’ve had great Chinese food that other small pan up that puts this place to shame. Definitely not my choice of a place to eat, but when I order it again in a pinch if I’m starving, yes.
Try this place for the first time today, and it will be the last I ordered sweet-and-sour pork pork, fried rice and beef lo mein. Very flavorless and what did have a flavor had a kind of a nasty taste to it could not even eat it threw it out
I ordered General Tso chicken with veggie lo mein. The lo mein had no flavor and there weren’t any veggies save one carrot matchstick. The noodles were sooo mushy, and all broken up The chicken has this weird vinegary sauce. It was bland otherwise. There weren’t any kind of peppers, and I was so sad. The eggroll was ok, but nothing special. It was folded like an empanada. I was so so sad, I really wanted to like it, but I wasn’t impressed at all. I ate a little but threw it out, it wasn’t worth it. I am so sorry
Shockingly bad. I agree with others: No flavor! I also agree with others that: -the sesame shrimp has a weird glue coating on it. It was chewy. I spit it out and threw it away. I hardly ever throw food away! -that the mixed vegetables are mostly broccoli. -that the sweet and sour sauce tastes watered down, as does the brown sauce they gave me for the mixed vegetable. Plus hardly any rice for three shrimp entrees. I love Chinese food and I grew up eating Asian food and this was terrible—- I will not be back. I actually had to use the soy sauce packets included which I never do. It still didn’t help much! They should be embarrassed to serve this food to people. Shame on you. This is NOT what you eat in your homes, I can guarantee that.
⭐☆☆☆☆ If you love disappointment, this place is a five-star experience. I’ve given this place two chances—because, you know, sometimes even the worst players hit a home run. But China Doll? They’re proudly batting zero. Both times, I received what I can only describe as reheated regret. The food tasted like it was cooked by someone who made it days ago, forgot about it, found it under a heat lamp, and then decided, Eh, close enough. And let’s not forget the customer service! The woman on the phone treated me like I was inconveniencing her by trying to give them money. Hospitality? Never heard of her. I could practically hear the eye-rolls through the receiver as she rushed me off the phone like I was calling 911 for a bad haircut. I don’t usually go out of my way to leave bad reviews, but this food was so shockingly bad that I genuinely considered driving back, handing them the container, and politely asking them to take a single bite. Just one. Because if they had, I guarantee they’d have shut down immediately out of sheer embarrassment. If you enjoy overpriced, microwaved, pre-owned Chinese food served with a side of customer service that makes the DMV look like Disneyland, then congratulations—this place was made for you. But if you value your taste buds, your dignity, and your will to live, do yourself a favor and order literally anything else.
I called today to ask about their buffet. Simple questions, nothing complicated. I asked if I could get buffet options, to go. She answered “yes, up to 6 only”. I said thank you. I asked what they are serving at their buffet today (since I’ve never eaten their buffet but I know they only have about 7 or 8 options). She literally huffed (sigh) before she started to answer with an attitude…as if engaging with a potentially new customer was such a hassle! I polite explained that I would not be needing any further help due to poor customer service skills and disconnected. The woman proceeded to call me back and say “I was not being mean to you I was trying to explain our buffet”. I told her, again, why I disconnected her call & told her to have a good day. I have no hard feelings however I think others should know that this place sucks at customer service…so make sure u don’t ask any questions 🙄. I didn’t get to try the food…but I’m sure it was PROBABLY good.
Absolute worst "Chinese" food ever!!! I was on a bland soft diet in the hospital before that was much better than this. Ordered lo mein, egg roll, and wontons, and it was awful, all of it!! The lo mein was angel hair pasta with some raw vegetables, no seasoning, no chicken, no flavor, nothin. The "egg rolls" were flat, over cooked, and I couldn't identify the ingredients on the inside. I won't go into detail on the wontons, I'll just say the quality is consistent with everything else. Never again. Absolutely do not recommend.
I have no idea how this place is still in business, the absolute worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, weird tastes, watered down sweet and sour sauce, the egg rolls are not rolls, one bite of filling, same with cheese wontons, spaghetti noodles for lo mein, everything had an old oil taste, the white rice had black things in it most likely bugs, rude staff. I can’t even believe it was that bad and I’ve had Chinese from a million places but this was hands down the worst ever
This was the worst Chinese food we've ever had. The sauces leaked all over. The vegetable lo mein was made with looked like angel hair pasta, no sauce and very salty. There was literally 1 pepper slice and I carrot slice. The egg rolls are not what we are used to getting. The dumplings were soaked in sauce (I like them plain). The inside was inedible. Very disappointed.
