We were seated and served promptly. My wife’s favorite is grilled octopus and they didn’t disappoint. I had the special la pigua prawns with garlic butter. Everything was good and so was their special chocolate dessert.

La Pigua was our favorite high-end restaurant in Merida! Great atmosphere, very nice waiter and food, absolutely delicious!!! We ordered coconut shrimp, jumbo size and very tasty! Then we ordered a 650-gram lobster, this was a monster lobster cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth juicy lobster, probably one of the best lobsters I have had and highly recommend!! We followed this with their in-house dessert, coconut cake, this was very good also, if you like Tres Leches, you will love this dessert! All in all, one of the best restaurants in the Yucatan!

The waiters were charming and took good care of us, we couldn’t resiste to eat the oysters and decided to take one octopus to share, they brought two plates of half the order which was very convenient to have rather than one plate at the center, i grew very picky on the margaritas this one was made with sugar instead of Cointreau, still very good, pricy but worth it, the only thing was that the table next to us was very loud on her personal conversation ( i ll spare the detail of her displaying her surgery )

3 years later still the best seafood and preparation in Merida! The highest quality seafood in Merida. Fantastic clean, pure taste of the sea with Squid in Its Own Ink. Calamar en su tinta. A whole fried Mero fish similar I’d say to Red Snapper yet cooked and prepared even better! Their Jabalí mescal is fantástico! Big fresh delicious oysters for the área. Jumbo Stone Crab claws which cost a fortuna in the states $70-80 per pound much more reasonably priced and fresher here at La Pigua.

Foods are delicious and service is great. You would not find prices on their website maybe because of seafood is seasonal. The main course are about MX300-400. It’s expensive for here standard. We made reservations but there are many tables available.

A must try in Merida. The pigua (river lobster, local specialty) was excellent and cooked 2 ways, fresh to order. The octopus in ink sauce was rich and unique - the team of servers were polite and professional. Our meal and overall experience was top notch

We had a great dinner at the La Pigua in Campeche and decided to try the Merida restaurant. It was a good decision as we had another great meal. The menus are similar in both restaurants and for this meal we tried different items. I had a grilled fish filet with ajillo peppers and my wife tried piguas, something very different. Both entrees were excellent and we ended up ordering coconut shrimp, which was also excellent. Overall, a very pleasant restaurant experience, with a professional wait staff.

We went here on a whim our first night in Merida and had an amazing dinner! The menu is quite extensive with over a hundred options. We had the shrimp bisque which was flavorful, creamy and rich. I had the coconut shrimp which was amazing - the shrimp were huge. Husband had the stuffed hogfish and teenage son had the shrimp cocktail followed by the hogfish carpaccio. Delicious!

Es la 1ra vez que venimos y sinceramente la comida no nos pareció buena del todo, el pulpo a las brasas me lo recomendó el mesero y no era para nada a las brasas, me decepcionó por qué era tipo hervido y bañado en una salsa tipo macha, el espagueti carbonara con camarones tampoco estaba buena del todo, muy grasosa y los camarones muy duros, la orden de camarones empanizados muy regular, lo mejor fueron las tostadas de ceviche de pulpo.

Poco elevado los precios pero estar en un lugar sin que una mesa este sobre de otra, es muy agradable. Recomendable.

Me platicaron muchísimo del lugar...si vale la pena. Pero creo que me faltó probar ese algo maravilloso. El lugar está cómodo, limpio y agradable. El servicio es casi impecable, la verdad se defienden muy bien, creo que tienen un buen sistema para servirte alimentos y bebidas, están siempre muy atentos de ti!! Y el que ma pareció que era el dueño siempre está atento que los comensales estén cómodos y bien atendidos, eso está de 100. Lo que creo que faltó es sabor de los alimentos, los platillos son innovadores, pero de sabor nada espectacular. Pero de que vale la pena, vale la pena!!

Buena opción para comer mariscos. Con inspiración campechana, los pescados y mariscos son frescos y de excelente calidad. De entrada, pedimos un cóctel de caracol, estaba sorprendentemente suave, aunque la salsa, aunque casera, puede mejorar. De segundo pedimos unos camarones a la mantequilla que estaban espectaculares, y un filete de pescado relleno de jaiba, bastante rico, aunque la salsa, de nuevo, podría tener un poco más de punch. El servicio es esmerado. Por persona, pagamos alrededor de $500.00 MXN (diciembre, 2025). No es barato, pero la calidad del producto lo compensa.

This has been a Merida institution for seafood amongst locals. It has been totally remodeled over the past few years. The service was up to standard as was the decor. Overall it was good. Clean and helpful staff. The food was good. A bit expensive but the fresh fish and octopus were great. Crab claws were good and crayfish or piguas were good. Make sure to have the piguas with lime and salsa, made it taste better.

La verdad venía yo muy emocionado por el hype que había escuchado del lugar. La comida está regular, igual que si vas a cualquier otro restaurante en Mérida, pero nada especial. El servicio fue muy regular, tirando a malo. Pedí una cerveza y nunca llegó, los tiempos de espera de la comida fueron largos. Igual entradas y platos fuertes llegaron muy mezclados, algunos ya habíamos terminado de comer y otros apenas estaban recibiendo sus entradas. Recomiendo ir para que no te cuenten y por la anécdota.

La Pigua was nice. The food was good but not inspiring. My waiter mentioned that the 'fish of the day' comws with rice and vegetables. I got a very small timbale if white rice and two slices of frued plantain...very disappointing.

Service was terrible! Super super slow! Waited almost an hour to get a table and then like 15 minutes to get a waiter to take our order. Staff was friendly but the problems of not having enough staff and not being organized were terrible. Menu was varied, prices were ok, maybe some items of the menu were a bit overpriced. The coconut shrimp were tasty, so were those with mango salsa. The rice with shrimp seemed very plain but was very tasty too. Overall, a good choice for seafood in Merida but avoid conference seasons and crowded lunch hours.

Overall disappointing Tuna carpaccio was good as was the fish of the day, however, a restaurant at this price point should: A. Have a cocktail menu and a great cocktails And B. Know how to cook a lobster tail so it is NOT rubber like. Our waiter was fantastic.

I’m really disappointed by my experience here, especially because this has been one of my favorite restaurants in Mérida. I was served the wrong dish, and when I politely brought it to the waiter’s attention, I was told there was nothing that could be done and that I still had to pay for it. The meal was boxed up for me without offering a replacement or any solution. When it came time to pay, the credit card machine was handed to my husband for the tip after I gave him the credit card, which felt awkward and dismissive given the situation. The food itself was also underwhelming. I asked about adjusting the seasoning and was told it wasn’t possible. The flavors were not what I expected, and having eaten at restaurants all over the world, this meal fell well below that standard. For a restaurant that presents itself as service-oriented and welcoming, especially to visitors, this experience was surprising and disappointing. Estoy realmente decepcionada por mi experiencia aquí, especialmente porque este ha sido uno de mis restaurantes favoritos en Mérida. Me sirvieron un platillo incorrecto y, cuando se lo mencioné amablemente al mesero, me dijeron que no había nada que se pudiera hacer y que aun así tenía que pagarlo. El platillo fue empacado para llevar sin ofrecerme un reemplazo ni alguna solución. Al momento de pagar, la terminal para dejar propina fue entregada a mi esposo, lo cual resultó incómodo y poco considerado dadas las circunstancias. La comida tampoco cumplió con mis expectativas. Pregunté si era posible ajustar el sazón y me dijeron que no. Los sabores no eran los que esperaba y, habiendo comido en muchos lugares del mundo, este platillo estuvo muy por debajo de ese nivel. Para un restaurante que se presenta como orientado al buen servicio y hospitalidad, especialmente hacia los visitantes, esta experiencia fue inesperada y decepcionante.
