Juan was our server and was amazing!!! It has been over 27 years since I’ve been here and I regret not getting here sooner. The food was DELICIOUS! Our mozzarella cheese ball appetizer with the guava sauce was divine. We ordered Sobe Salmon, Birria Benedict and Cafe con Leche French Toast - AMAZING!!! Our drinks were perfectly crafted- And of course to finish it off… Tiramisu❤️ Thank you for a wonderful brunch experience Juancito! Happy Holidays to you and the team!!
First time here, we were looking for something to chill and eat something light and drink before dinner, somewhere else. This cafe popped up on Google. So we try not bad at all. We got Blue Hawaii and Mai Tai for drinks, and a BLT to share. It was good 👍🏼. Service was good 🌟. The vibe is energetic and relaxing 😌
I grew up in Lake Worth and we used to come down to Miami Beach in the summers - I ALWAYS wanted to go to News Cafe. I came down (from Ohio!) for a quick visit with my daughter. This was at the top of my list. It was just as comfortable and classic as I'd always imagined. Hugo gave amazing, attentive and quick service. Pizza tasted delish - like pizza from any decent Italian spot. Truffle fries were soooo tasty and served in a giant bowl. I seriously can't say enough good things about Hugo and the News Cafe vibe. It was everything I wanted.
News Café is one of those iconic Miami Beach spots that absolutely lives up to the hype. The atmosphere is unbeatable — right on Ocean Drive, perfect for people-watching, relaxing, and soaking in that Miami vibe. It’s the kind of place you can sit for hours and just enjoy the moment. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, or a late-night bite, everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully made. The coffee was strong and smooth, and the cocktails were perfectly crafted. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast, even with how busy it gets. The staff makes you feel welcome from the moment you sit down. It has that classic Miami charm — relaxing, stylish, and full of energy. If you’re visiting Miami Beach, News Café is a must. It’s the perfect spot to start your day or wind it down. Highly recommend! 🌴✨
Our second time here and just as good! The food is excellent and the service very good too. Hugo looked after us very well. News Café is well situated and eating outside is great for people watching. Chilled background music adds to the atmosphere. We’ll be back.
A South Beach institution for good reason. Great food, excellent service, reasonable prices, and a perfect location for people watching. Excellent portion sizes and the kind of menu where everyone in your party will find something to enjoy. We especially loved the salmon. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection. When we made our dinner reservation I told the restaurant that it was my son’s 13th birthday. At the end of the meal they brought out a piece of chocolate cake (delicious) and a candle and made his night! We’ll be back the next time we’re in South Beach.
Great food and coffee! The music playing was amazing and so enjoyable. Took me back to the good ‘ole days! Our waitress Kosara was sweet, very attentive, and efficient. Would highly recommend.
This place is amazing! The food is fantastic and plentiful! The atmosphere is pure upbeat South Beach vibes. The service is some of the best I've ever experience and Juan is one of the best servers, ever, truly. Very attentive and fun! Truly a don't-miss spot!
Believe what you read!! The News Cafe is WONDERFUL! Impeccable service with a smile, a perfect mocha and yogurt bowl just made my morning. We enjoyed the beautifully presented, fresh and tasty breakfasts while visiting South Beach on our way to the Keys. Will gladly return as the opportunity presents itself.
This café is an absolute gem in Miami! The food was incredible—fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. What truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was our waiter Elmer G. He was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, with a great attitude that made us feel genuinely welcomed. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back if I were ever to return to Miami!!
Amazing food, coffee and service! Our server was Hugo and he suggested the Cafe Con Leche French Toast and it was perfect! We also got the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and the eggs were perfectly cooked.
Love this place. I always make this a stop when in South Beach. It’s not crazy or noisy like other dining options on Ocean Drive. The location is great for people watching. The food and drinks are always delicious. This time Hugo who took excellent care of taking, placing and serving my order.
This is my 3rd time coming to News Café and it was excellent! The vibes were great as always — such a perfect spot to relax and enjoy Miami Beach. I’ve tried the buffalo chicken wings, fried calamari, guacamole, and the classic Benedict for breakfast, and everything has been consistently delicious. Paula’s service was excellent and made the experience even better. Definitely one of my go-to places on Ocean Drive!
My favorite breakfast or lunch spot on Ocean Drive. The staff is so friendly. The food is fresh and delicious. I stop by here on every visit. They have a bar with delicious cocktails any time of day!
Cracking breakfast this morning. Pancakes with whipped cream and loads of maple syrup, wonderful fruit plate with a lovely blueberry yoghurt. Wife had 2 poached eggs on toast. Great server Juan too
Hugo was a fantastic server. I had the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun - amazing flavor. I actually had to ask where that much flavor was coming from. It's a surprise! My wife had the eggs Benedict with BBQ - and yes, it had a name and I can't remember. Not just BBQ😎 The coffee was obviously fantastic and the outside tables were a delight. Don't miss it!!
Thank you Petronio! All the menu recommendations were excellent. We enjoyed hearing about the tomato soup, Gianni table as the onsite pastry chef. We will return to dine with Petronio
We really enjoyed our breakfast at the News Cafe ! So much we went back the next day ! A fabulous position in the sunshine on Ocean Drive. The salmon & avocado pancakes are incredible. Our server Elmer G made us feel so welcome on both days. Such a lovely young man, he’s an asset to the restaurant.
In a very saturated area that seems like everyone is telling you their restaurant is the best I’m so happy I landed at this one. The food was to die for but Juan was one of the most hospitable servers I’ve experienced in Miami. He was so warm and welcoming l, very helpful and never rushed me. Highly recommend stopping by!
Absolute PLEASURE!! A Bellini, coffee, soft jazz, the sun, warmth a DELICIOUS omelete!! My husband LOVED his Chicken and Waffles!! AND, Our server, Rosary was LOVELY!! So sweet and very competent as our server, I wish she could have sat with us so we could hear her story. WONDERFUL morning experience!! A million stars!!!!
Fun to have breakfast and coffee ☕️again after a few years. Great fresh fruit, Bloody Mary and cafe americano. Obviously great location and atmosphere as located on the ocean drive. South beach. I like the fact you can get just about and news paper printed. Would recommend for breakfast and brunch.
We travel all around America and this spot for breakfast is EPIC! By far the best pancakes and best savory dish for breakfast we have add on any trip. Our server Hugo was amazing and treated us like celebrities and even switched out our silverware so we had different utensils for each plate we ate. Would recommend to anyone!
i enjoyed my experience here, the food was superb and to the tea just how i expected it to be! :) our server Petrond was so sweet, attentive, and kind! the food was delivered in a quickly timed manner. 10/10 would recommend! :)
Our server was Juan. I have rarely had someone take such good care of us in a tourist town. And to be so personal and considerate for the whole time we were here. In a town like MIAMI, where the food is mediocre and the service is less so, I now feel like I wanna come back to News Cafe because I was treated like family. Thank you, Juan!
A lively spot on Ocean Ave in the heart of South Beach. Our server Kate was friendly and attentive without hovering. We shared the truffle fries which were quite tasty. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese , my husband had the chicken parm- the put the cheese on top at your table! The spicy margaritas were top notch! Thanks Kate for a fun time on our last night in SOBE!
We always come to News Café for breakfast — it’s the only spot on Ocean Drive that still feels authentic. The staff is always friendly, the vibe is super chill, and the food never disappoints. Whether you’re into something healthy or classic American breakfast, you’ll find it here. With its great location and iconic history, this place is a true Miami must-visit.
We had such a great experience for dinner thanks to our waitress Kate! She was incredibly attentive, checked on us at the perfect times, and made sure our drinks and food were always taken care of.She recommended me the Chicken Pillard & I have to say it was the best meal i’ve ever had in South Beach! Honestly overall she had such a warm and positive attitude that made our meal even more enjoyable.Great service truly makes a difference, and she went above and beyond. Highly recommend!
Hugo was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive and completely on the ball. He made us feel genuinely welcome, kept everything flowing smoothly, and added a lovely personal touch throughout. Service like that really makes the difference. Thanks, Hugo!
If you are in South Beach, eat here! Excellent service, great food & a really nice atmosphere. Petronio gave amazing service and I will request him when we return. We had the steak & eggs, salmon & avocado omelette, eggs Benedict, all cooked perfectly, as well as a fruit platter. Try the “Coffee it is” cocktail, absolutely delicious. We will be back!
We came from Europe and had a breakfast and coffee at News Café, and everything—from the atmosphere to the service—was truly exceptional. The vibe was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Our server, Francisco from Venezuela, made the experience even better. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I can confidently say that he is a perfect example of how this job should be done. His professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail are something many servers could learn from. Excelente!
Since moving back to Miami Beach, News Cafe has become my second home. The staff are so amazing and it feels like family. The food and drinks are top notch and you can’t beat the location with the beach right across the street. All the food I’ve had there has been been amazing but you go for breakfast, I highly recommend the salmon and avocado omelette 😉Fun fact about News Cafe, it was the last place designer Gianni Versace visited before he was tragically killed on the steps of his home which is on the same street (Ocean Drive)
News Cafe was fabulous! Hugo was our server and he was extremely attentive... Even filling my water bottle! The breakfast menu covers just about everything you could think of. Three delicious types of Benedict, omelettes, sandwiches and sweet breakfast also. I had the Birria Benedict and it was fabulous. If you like brisket it was a fun palette journey. My husband had the ocean drive breakfast sandwich. They use some kind of mayonnaise-based sauce that gives it a super great flavor. Can't brag enough on the service. Stop here for breakfast or you will totally miss out!
Had a wonderful morning at News Café! The service from Hugo was outstanding — very attentive, friendly, and quick, which made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere is amazing: great music, a relaxed vibe, and the perfect energy to start the day in Miami Beach. Delicious coffee, a charming setting, and overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a good breakfast with a positive, uplifting vibe!
I had an amazing experience at News Café! The food was absolutely delicious, and the breakfast was just on point — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our waiter, Hugo, made the experience even better with his great recommendations — everything he suggested was spot on. The service, atmosphere, and food all came together to make it a truly enjoyable visit. Highly recommended!
We had a fabulous dinner & drinks here last night so came back this morning for breakfast and we were not disappointed! Our waiter, Hugo, was prompt & friendly with good recommendations. Sitting outside with the beach across the street was a great way to start the day. We will be back!
I went in for dinner last night and had such a great experience! The food and atmosphere were amazing, but what really stood out was the service. Kate was absolutely wonderful super attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. She had such a positive attitude and really made us feel welcome. It honestly made our night even bette
Great atmosphere, delicious food and very large portions, we couldn't eat it all. The service is incredible, I especially want to mention the waiter Hugo who constantly checked if everything was good and if we had everything, the service was very fast, we didn't have to wait. Definitely 10/10
We had a fantastic breakfast at this restaurant! I made reservations, but we came an hour early after coming off a cruise. They accommodated us without an issue and we sat outside and enjoyed the lovely scenery and fans they had outside to keep you comfortable. Our server, Hugo, was great! He was friendly, attentive and provided excellent recommendations. We had the News Cafe breakfast with the Pina colada pancakes. All the food was good, but the pancakes were particularly impressive. The belini was also very refreshing and not too sweet. This is a spot I would definitely visit again in Miami.
I came to Miami for the first time in 10 years, and News Cafe was top of my list to come back and visit. I stopped by for breakfast and I was conflicted between two items on the menu, and Juan pointed me in the right direction! He had the perfect cadence of checking on our table (never felt like we were waiting too long or needed to wave him down to ask for help), and made the experience more memorable beyond the fresh food and iconic location.
Our favourite place in Miami (and maybe in the world). We go there almost every day when in South Beach. News Café is truly the place to be: amazing vibes, a great atmosphere, and you can instantly feel how much history the place holds. No show-off energy. Even though, every now and then, some big guy pulls up in a Lamborghini and casually asks the valet to park it. But overall it’s just chilled people enjoying great food. No loud music, just a slow tempo with classic covers in the background. Roberto, Maluma, Maria and the rest of the team make you feel at home, and it’s honestly impressive how many times they check in to make sure you have everything you need. The brewed Italian coffee (with refills) is awesome. Of course prices have gone up a bit lately but pretty much like everywhere in SoBe; here it's definitely worth it. Go there, you won't regret. This comment is not AI-generated : )
Loved this place! We ate outside, and it was so nice to people watch and enjoy the weather. They had nice heaters since it was chilly. Our food was phenomenal, but the best part of our experience was our server, Juan. He made the experience so fun and welcoming. Highly recommend. We will be back next time we’re in Miami!
We ate here daily during our stay last weekend. Breakfast for sure, dinner once and ALWAYS a drink(s) to finish off the night. The staff was incredible and our consistent server, Patronio, was our favorite person we met on the trip. He was always cheerful, attentive and remembered our names and our favorite drinks and kept them full:). Food was great, atmosphere was iconic and location was exciting!
Miami. From the moment you arrive, you feel the unique blend of history, style, and effortless South Beach energy. The atmosphere is vibrant without being overwhelming, and the staff makes you feel welcome right away. I loved the food — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re here for breakfast, a coffee by the sidewalk, or a late-night drink, everything hits the spot. The service is prompt and friendly, and you can tell the team takes pride in what they do. There are many places to eat on Ocean Drive, but News Cafe stands apart. It’s not just a restaurant, it’s a piece of Miami’s soul. Highly recommended for anyone wanting the real South Beach experience. Last place visited by Versace before murdered
You can’t visit Ocean Drive without stopping at News Cafe, and our recent visit reminded me why. It remains the absolute best spot in South Beach for people-watching and soaking in the Art Deco atmosphere. The food was delicious, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Our server, Juan, was absolutely amazing! He was attentive, friendly, and honestly made us feel like regulars. It couldn’t have been better. If you go, definitely ask for his section. Great vibes, great food, and even better service. We’ll be back!
Would definitely recommend. We stopped by a few minutes before open and Petronio sat us immediately. He was attentive, funny, and kind. My 3 year old and 8 year old felt special and myself and my husband were able to enjoy the delicious food and amazing breeze off the ocean. We’ll be back next time we’re in Miami!
From Texas. Killing time after my cruise. The food and atmosphere here is insanely good! I had Chilaquiles w Birria and honestly this was the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had. They don’t make it like this in TX! Hugo, our server, gave perfect service! He shared wonderful information with us and recommended me a popular cigar lounge to hit next!
We went here for brekkie and each had a Cappuccino and Salmon Benedict. The coffee was luke warm and very weak, so that wasn’t very nice as the other reviews said the coffee was good here. The Benedict was okay, not outstanding, nice hollandaise. Excellent service, really friendly and attentive staff. Would still recommend but perhaps not for coffee? They had a great selection of juices, brekkie cocktails etc. It was super busy and had great ambience right on Ocean Drive! Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, so it’s good for all types of party sizes.
No doubt the food is great! Comes out in a timely fashion, servers are attentive to your every need and request. Beware of upcharges and 20% tipping surcharge. Overall a great experience minus the cigar smokers while dining outdoors.
EDIT: The manager of the Tony reached out directly and assured me that this absolutely was an anomaly, and that it is being taken care of. One ill-fitting employee isn't representative of the whole, so I modified the review taking that into consideration. The location can't be beat, and the other staff we encountered were friendly. I appreciate the follow-through!! Original: I wish I would have caught on video the absolute rudeness of the bartender 30 minutes ago. We walked into the bar, sat down, only patrons. The bartender didn't say a word to us - just tossed a menu on the bar and walked away. I feel like I'm still in shock of the treatment we received. We are staying at the Tony, and everyone else has been amazing (especially Cristian!!) but this has completely turned us off. Hopefully this was an anomoly. I worked in the service industry for 10 years and would NEVER treat a customer - or anyone - like this.
Nice cafe located on Ocean Drive, once frequented by the late Gianni Versace. I went for breakfast one morning. I had the mimosa, a black americano and "Lox" & Bagels. It was nice but parts of the smoked salmon were discoloured, gray, and I wasn't sure how safe it was to eat. I only ate a little of the smoked salmon that was not discoloured. I think for what you pay, the smoked salmon could be better quality. Otherwise, I enjoyed my breakfast. Nice atmosphere. Relaxing. Friendly staff and good service.
Hello, I had brunch at your café this morning and overall the experience was very enjoyable. I want to clarify that the service itself was not unpleasant—on the contrary, the server was attentive and polite. However, I experienced a situation that felt uncomfortable. Around 9 AM, while sitting alone at a table for four, the server asked me twice to move to another table. The first time, I mentioned I would leave in 5 minutes. He returned 3 minutes later to ask again if I was leaving. I understand the need to manage seating, but at that time, there were very few customers and most tables were empty. The repeated follow-up made the situation unpleasant, even though the service itself was fine. I suggest reminding staff that a café is a place where customers come to enjoy a moment of relaxation, and that such follow-ups should be handled with care. Thank you for your attention and understanding.
If I could give zero stars, I would. News Caffee just served me and my boyfriend the most pathetic excuse for coffee I’ve ever seen in my life 🤧 I ordered an affogato — you know, coffee with ice cream, something that’s supposed to actually look and taste good. What I got looked like it survived a hurricane. The “ice cream” was a sad, half-melted blob floating in bitter coffee water. Zero effort. Zero flavor. Zero pride in what they serve. My boyfriend’s drink was supposed to have chocolate in it.Chocolate🍫Instead, they squirted some cheap sauce on top and apparently thought that counts. Honestly, a gas station coffee machine has more dignity than whatever this was. We paid $10 each for this disaster. Ten. Dollars. For something that looks like it came out of a vending machine in hell🌋 And the service? Don’t even get me started. The servers were basically breathing down our necks every 10 minutes like we owed them our souls🧟♀️I get it — tips are nice. But when someone is hovering over me, interrupting every moment I try to relax, it’s not “attentive,” it’s annoying. If I needed something, I’d call. To make it worse, one of them actually tried to take my coffee when it wasn’t even half finished — probably because I wasn’t touching it anymore (because it was disgusting). I had to tell her, “I’m not done with that yet.” Then she hits me with the classic “Are you done with your coffee, miss?” like she’s trying to speed-run us out of there just because we only ordered drinks. The audacity is unreal. And this is supposed to be a beachfront café. You’d think they’d at least try to impress with quality or at least pretend to care. Nope. It’s giving tourist trap with zero standards. If disappointment had a flavor, it would taste exactly like their coffee. If pushiness had a face, it would be their service. Save your money, your taste buds, and your peace of mind. Anywhere else is better than this place.🫠
