The hotel is exactly what you would expect. My room is clean. The bathroom is clean. The continental breakfast was uninspired but there was plenty of it and enjoyable. Lovely views a nice section of the beach with plenty of seating. Pool and bar. All in all I would return. The people here were pleasant and everybody had a smile. The only negative thing I could say about the hotel was the bathroom toilet was a little tiny thing. I can't really blame the hotel for me not liking the size of the toilet I am after all a magnificent Beast of a man. Personally I hate tiny toilets. Other than that I enjoyed my stay here as did my wife and daughter.

On one of the most relaxing vacations my stay at South Seas was 5 star experience. The rooms where clean, comfortable and included all the amenities you need. The staff was professional, efficient, friendly, helpful and made the stay enjoyable. Its located walking distance to all the restaurants, shops, bars, boutiques. Nice size pool with tenant to assist with moving chairs or umbrellas as needed. Several complientry perks. They have a wide variety of delicious food to choose from. Good selection of cocktails and drinks. Great service and friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again!

I’ve stayed here twice and I have no complaints. It’s an older hotel but that’s what makes it the South Seas. They also upgraded our room for free!

Great bar, food and pool. Lounge in the back on quite hammocks walk out the gate to go on the beach... This place is a hidden gem of South Beach

The hotel was great with an amazing location and pool area. The rooms are a little small but not much time should be spent in them

Enjoyed our stay with the ocean view room. Pool is heated & they will serve drinks & food by the pool. Bartender was great and very personal. I would stay again.

Love this place ! Great front desk staffs & security number 1 Aaron security , Peggy the bartender was nice & very funny, Cleaning staffs work very hard even made a new friend "Earl the Squirrel" that comes every morning . If anyone ever had a bad experience they're just wasn't lifeful to enjoy this place . You walk out front or back beautiful view. We'll be back again . 👏

Good food, back area is the nicest on the strip, friendly staff, right across from an amazing cafe. Central location and attention to detail, our room had a sewing kit and they had holiday music playing when we entered which was aa nice touch. Avoid if you don't like waterdragons.

Located in South Miami, South seas was an awesome stay right on the beach. We ate at the restaurant and bar where the service was awesome and so were the drinks! I would definitely stay here again

Location !! Direct beach access. Book directly through hotel and you get additional perks. Entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure your every need is met. Impressive ! You will not find a better property or service in all of South Beach . Fantastic continental breakfast - free. Be sure to have a lazy afternoon and relax on the hammocks between the Palm trees. If i could rate higher than 5 stars I would. You will be sure to make the South Seas your destination time and again !

Perfectly placed hotel for a few days. Beautiful pool! The pool resturant had some very nice waitresses, helpful, funny and with nice taste in music! Tasty food, very fresh! The hotel breakfast was very big, very American. Meaning that it was mostly sugary carbs, and not that much proteins. I miss my English breakfasts when in the US!

My family and I stayed there for a whole week. We loved it, they staff was very friendly. Kids loved the heated pool and the iguana's that were near the pool. Plus a very short walk to the beach.!! Cant wait to go back next year again for the 4th of july!!!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and I am already planning on booking it again for when we return to Miami in January. Where to start?? The location is PERFECT. Right ON the beach and near the corner of Collins and 18th, it's close to all the action on South Beach (about a 10 min walk to the center) but still really quiet. There is a 24 hour restaurant/bar with live entertainment right across the street, and it's only a few minutes from the shops at Lincoln Road. The building itself is one of the cool Art Deco buildings right on Collins. It isn't all chrome and glass and modern, it is a bit older but that's part of the charm for me. Great poolside bar with good food and fantastic happy hour from 5-7 where all the drinks are only $5! Pool area and hammock grove are perfect. It is the exact vibe I want from vacation! Beach is located directly behind the hammock grove and it's super easy to go back and forth from pool to beach. There is a security code to enter to get back into the hotel area which makes me feel safe. It is definitely worth it to book directly with the hotel because you get 2 free beach chairs and umbrella which will usually set you back like $40, and it's nice not to have to worry about that. Trust me, you will want that umbrella! Full breakfast is included and there are a lot of options- scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, cheese, bread and bagels, fruit, oatmeal, pastries, and cereal.. I wasn't hungry until 2 or 3pm, which saves money on going out to eat. The rooms themselves are simple but very clean and have everything you need. Oceanview rooms are worth the cost- waking up to the water and palm trees swaying in the wind is why I went to Miami to begin with. The ONLY "complaint" I have is a silly one- there aren't enough hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels, bathing suits, etc, nore are there enough shelves for toiletries in there. Next time I'll just bring some removeable command hooks to solve that issue because i am NOT staying anywhere else! Also, the staff is lovely. we have seen the same front desk and restaurant crew as we saw a few years ago, which gives a nice family feeling in the big city. This is our home away from home and I highly recommend it.

Comfortable room size, clean and adequate bedding in an older building ... good food, full bar and friendly staff. Would have given this four stars but for the FANTASTIC LOCATION!!! A hidden nook with private gate access privides hammock space, lovely pools and palm trees between beach walk and main street.highly recommemd!

People are super friendly. Very clean. Everyone is so welcoming. You can just walk out to the beach. Walking distance to happening places and bars. However, the food and drinks here are very good and prices are on point. We came out of a nightmare place to land here. They understood our situation and also cared about it. Did their best to help us about after leaving a roach infested hotel by the name of majestic. Yeah right! More like DRAMA. That name fits that place better. South seas hotel is definitely majestic. Kids loved the pool, the hammocks, breakfast buffet. It helped turned out nightmare into paradise. Thank you South Seas Hotel. Special thanks to Danny at the front desk, Nataly (our awesome bar tender) Martita who took care of breakfast. Our room lady, I never got her name. They have been amazing. Many thanks for helping us end 2016 in the best way possible.

We have stayed at the South Seas before (in a partial-ocean view room), which was great and why we decided to return to this hotel. I wanted a balconey this time around, so we booked the penthouse suite on the 7th floor - apparently, the ONLY room with a balconey. The penthouse is great, and doesn't cost that much more! Besides a balconey, the suite also boasts: a terrace with lounge chairs that is perfect for sun bathing and a table with 4 chairs to sit outside and eat (although, the terrace has NO view of anything); a kitchenette with sink, mini fridge, cupboard and dishes; large closet; living room/sitting area with a small desk. For the balconey, we moved 2 chairs here and watched the sun set over the beach. Another reason we really like South Seas is that they do a great job with breakfast. Its served 7am-10am. Besides general continental breakfast items, they have scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage, and oatmeal. You can eat inside or outside on the covered patio. The pool area and their outdoor patio is great. They gave a full bar, kitchen, and wonderful views. They have many lounge chairs around the pool with umbrellas, a station for getting pool/beach towels, a hammock area, and a gate to the property that opens up for easy access to the beach. With our reservation, we got 2 free beach lounge chairs and a beach umbrella. Im not sure if this is generally included, or if its because we booked directly through the hotel. We also recieved wristbands for a complimentary wine and cheese hour each day between 5:30-6:30. I dont have much to complain about; this is a boutique hotel, so its not as big or as modern as other hotels in South Beach. Its a classic art deco hotel with vintage photographs throughout. It is clean and well kept. Their elevator is slow. As of April 2018, there was heavy construction happening a couple of hotels down; one morning they hit a pipe or something and we lost water for a couple of hours, though this was not our hotel's fault! This is one of two hotels we tend to stay at when in Miami Beach (the other being the National); it depends on room availability and current rates. For the cost of a typical room at the National, we were able to stay in this penthouse suite!

I have stayed here over 25 times. My last visit was in Jan. Came to run the Miami Half. I keep coming back. The staff is great. My room had always been clean. Pool area is kept beautiful. Breakfast is always good. From Anna at the Front Desk,The girls serving breakfast,Laura at the bar. The Best. I will be back in July. Maybe November. And again In January.

South Seas This Hotel exceeded my expectations and made me feel downright happy. This hotel has it's own beach access and includes 2 comfy beach chairs daily which were a dream. South Seas surrounded by other hotels also with beach access was easily $100-$200 cheaper. Sure it's smaller in height but it's not lacking in it's rooms, common areas and pool/resort area. It's beautifully palm shaded pool and hammock area were what sold me the most. I did a lot of research, as I always do, to get the most for the least amount of money. South Seas met all my requirements, then surprised me with even more including complimentary robe and slippers, tropical mood music that will make you want to rumba when you enter your room, beach towels, a FULL breakfast (eggs, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, pastries, other awesomeness), great water pressure in the shower, nice little bar and restaurant right at the pool, sweet and helpful staff, directly across the street is Maxine's, a delicious, comfy, 24 hr restaurant with live entertainment (forget Denny's), the hotel has a comfy front porch with couches to people watch and really, the list does go on. 2 minor complaints, it would be lovely to have a small refrigerator and/or microwave for all the yummy leftovers from the surrounding restaurants and the coffee maker was a little quirky, but worked. Just had to run it twice per cup. I usually love to try different hotels when I vacation in the same area, (with variety being the spice of life) but I'm seriously considering going nowhere else but South Seas when I'm in Miami.

I really had a great experience! I love the old time photos on the walls, it made me feel I traveled back in time! the lobby was clean, the staff was great, specially our room attendant Olga; she made us feel like we were home. Overall, I do not have any complaint. Thank you South Seas! I will return!

I have stayed at South Seas 5 times so far.Every single time was awesome. The rooms are clean. The service is great. The pool area is also clean and there is plenty of space. Also, there is Buffett breakfast. 5 min walk to Ocean drive and Lincoln st. I will definitely come back

We usually just spend the day here, enjoying the pool, the proximity to the beach, and the fantastic food!! Try the Mezze Platter or the guacamole with freshly-made giant tortilla chips. Great breakfast buffet for $9 if you're not a guest. Super friendly service. Lots of people from other countries and everyone speaks Spanish. Try it!!

We stayed one night prior to a cruise. My husband myself and two children, ages 12 & 15 yrs old. We've had a wonderful time! The pool and access to the beach is perfect. We had lunch by the pool and room service for dinner. Both were excellent and reasonably priced. The building is older but clean and charming. Personally I thought the pillows were waaaay too hard, but I'll definitely stay again the next time I visit Miami. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's breakfast and a stroll on the beach before leaving.

The location is great- next to the beach, and walking distance to food and stores. The view from the window- the wall of other hotel. Rooms are not spacious. Our room was cleaned only once in 5 days, although we asked for cleaning service. Breakfast was ok. We liked the hammock area located between pool and the beach. Pool is good size for kids to play.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Small rooms but Clean and comfortable. Old hotel but prices are reasonable for what you get. Loved the pool and restaurant by the pool had excellent food and wonderful staff. Breakfast is typical and ok. My favorite was the delicious coffee. Just wish they had fans around the pool and one in the front which has a nice seating area for people watching. Oh, and an awning to keep the rain off you. Easy 6 minute walk to Lincoln street shopping and restaurants. We spent a week there and had a good time. Maxine restaurant across the street has great food and open 24hr.

Dear South Seas Hotel! We won a vacation from Monster and we're going to stay at Your beautiful Hotel for four nights from 15th of November. We'll visit the Nascar race on Sunday as well. We're looking forward to be there, it's gonna be our 1st trip to America. I have one question: do you serve at the breakfast NATUR yoghurt and/or kephir? These are my favourite " morning food" and they're very important for me. Thank you!

Like most hotels in Miami Beach, this hotel has issue with parking lot. And also the way to get into is one-way road so you need to be careful. I couldn't catch this place at once because they don't have any big sign on the building. And my room was just so so but people said it's reasonable price there. And also it's very close to Miami Beach if you keep having beach enterance password.

J

I was at the pool bar for evening drinks, it's not my first time and I will definitely be back again. The bartender was really nice and made great drinks. The only thing I would change is that I would add fans behind the bar for the guest and for the bartender. It was extremely hot.

R
Robert Beck Jr

Great location, friendly staff & that's about it. Terrible internet, unrenovated rooms, cramped bathrooms, decent pool. If you're wondering why I gave it 4 stars, well, in real estate, location is almost everything. That says it all! :-)

W

This was a great hotel for the money. Its art deco style gives it a classic feel. The ammenities are limited which allows the staff to focus on service. It has direct access to the beach which is a plus and its close to all the shops. Parking is vallet which is a third party vendor, their service is not good. We had a small problem with the pluming, the maintenance fix it right way.

Amazing find. If you're looking for something in the low-mid range in price, but that puts you right in the middle of the action (17th and Collins) with a great pool and it's own beach access, this is a great option. Booking through the hotel site gets you free chairs and umbrella on the beach. Friendly and accommodating staff and walking distance nearly everything.

Very small hotel next to Beach nice access to the beach. His hotel is one of the best places to see and to be seen. Rooms clean and enough pillows. Really value for the money in Miami Beach. Hotel stuff r really friendly. All with one little mistake - cleaning ladies if u don’t put sign in ur door! They knock the door at six😭. Pool area is small and very beautiful. In the pool area you can have a full service whatever you want - drinks and food!

Decent hotel for the price range. Pool area as well as the bar is very clean and nice. Staff is always friendly and helpful. We have stayed here 2x. First time was about 2 years ago. The most recent was a 4 night stay. We find this hotel to be a little dated but clean, secure and staffed by some really pleasant people. We only needed to ask and we were accommodated. The rooms are somewhat small but clean and well kept. The back area of the hotel has an outside/covered cafe/lounge with a better than average food menu. The pool was great. There is also a nice hammock area that is located under the palm trees. The grounds were well kept. There is a locked gate that gives you easy access to the beach. There are A LOT of different types of shops, restaurants, cafe's etc... all in easy walking distance! The car stayed parked in the valet lot for 4 days. Some minor things to think about. The beds are on the stiff side and the sheets are crisp. There was only 1 very small shelf in the bathroom. The continental breakfast was only about average. That being said, we will probably stay here again the next time we are visiting Miami. BTW, they have the best guacamole and chips at the the outside cafe!

Great location.. hotel is little old thats why rooms are small and sometime we experienced some oder. Managements can do something (like music) to make pool place more happening.. pool is great and bar is good.. free breakfast is icing on the cake but they can add some more items in the menu. nice place to stay during holiday season. I gave 4 star and I will look forward to stay here again.

Bad things - Bar with really bad service at night time, rooms facing dumpster at sides and quite old. Good things - by the beach, swimming pool area and breakfast

Dbebs Accouns

Pros: great beach area out back, nice but small pool area, comfortable hammocks, close to Ocean Drive and the Lincoln Road Mall, in room safe, free beach towels Cons: small property, dirty room floors, small rooms and bathroom, small elevators, slow expensive valet parking with little parking room at front of property

Clean. On the beach. Two pools. Helpful staff. Beach chairs and towels included. In room Kurig coffee. Bottled water. No refrigerator. Old and shabby. Something is terribly wrong with plumbing. Pipes made hideous pounding noise at 3 a.m. and other times during stay. With so many other options on the beach, pick another place.

J

This hotel Ok is good just bc they are close to the beach nothing else rooms are so humid and breakfast option is not that good. Not friendly reception and no good welcoming. No parking. Ugly dirty carpets and some rooms don’t have fridges or Tv .

R

Avoid this place!!! The only good thing I can say is that the staff was very friendly. As for everything else, it was aweful. First off the room was tiny, and I mean TINY. The bathroom was so small that to use the toilet I had to angle my body so my legs were out the door. Also I don't know if the bathroom had been cleaned, ever. The was enough hair in the tub and on the floor to make a wig. The bed was actually less comfortable than the floor, and the air conditoner was a joke. I realize it's priced cheaper than other hotels in the area, but in my opinion the only aceptible price for a place like this is free.

Old hotel but good value and excellent location! Small rooms but fairly clean. Valet expensive so try parking at Lincoln mall lot. Pool was nice. Upstairs area by pool for aun bathers. Hammocks in shade to relax and nap. Would stay again to save money. Beds were small and hard though.

Our room has a little musty smell. The closet door wood is chipped and the closest doorknob is falling off the door. The place is dated and needs some serious TLC but it was clean. What this place does have is a great location and a nice pool. It's not bad but I would very likely stay somewhere else if I was in the neighborhood again.

I hate to give 3 stars ,but we got a room that smelled so badly of mold. The AC was the leaking water in the wall and the room stunk so badly. Rooms are small.,but clean. Breakfast is included, fresh fruits, eggs ,bacon, muffins etc. Nice size pool and easy access to the beach.

Very small, old hotel but great location. The restaurant has slow service and aren't afraid to leave you hungry or thirsty in order to chat with other customers. There was construction going on so laying by the pool was anything but quiet and relaxing. Front desk was helpful with anything we needed.

Location perfect, service adequate, but It is a rather old hotel. Every thing was working well and the rooms were clean. Breakfast buffet is rather weak in european eyes. Not too bad but also no too good...

Quite dated but spotlessly clean. Great location on the beach, simple but plentiful breakfast. The only irritation is that guests put their towels and other chattels on sun beds then leave them vacant thereby preventing the use by others and, the management does nothing to stop this (unlike other hotels). All in all fully enjoyed our 3 day stay. (Loved the nostalgic photo collection throughout the hotel)

The only reason I'm giving this hotel a 3 star review is for the location convenience and the heated outdoor pool. We booked a room at the South Seas but were offered a room at the Richmond which is the building next door, the explanation was that they merged and it's actually the same hotel. We paid for a queen room, but that bed was far from a queen size, more like a full size. The cleanliness of the room became an issue by the second day. The bed was clean, but the sheets were not changed daily, the place was not vacuumed at all in the 3 days we spend there. For the money they charge, this place could seriously use a remodeling and updating, the paint in the bathrooms and the carpet is in desperate need of replacement. The common areas were clean and the hallways smelled really good every day. The pool outside was kept ok with the exception of one night when all the chairs were messed up and there was food left over and wet towels everywhere....just not a good image to see. At check out we were charged a resort fee of $75 for the water in the room (2bottles=$2) the coffee we never touched, and the pool towels they offer at the pool (we used them one time, and the beach vouchers we used on the beach to pay for the chairs. Ridiculous!!! That was on top of the almost $200/night.

Location is perfect. But if you are expecting a comfortable room and bathroom, this isn't nt the place. The rooms are super small and restrooms are tiny. We live in Florida and often come to Miami to relax so we expected to have a nicer room. Felt very squished.

The hotel has so many restaurants in the area, the beach is just in the backyard, the pool is big and clean (most of the time) but the hotel need to improve with a lot things. First, the rooms doesn’t have mini refrigerator. If you have to put something, you have to go to the lobby. The restaurant need to improve with the food and drinks, and a lot spiderweb everywhere. Good costumes service!

We stayed at the South Seas Hotel for 4 nights as we won a vacation through a radio station. We stayed mid-June 2018. The hotel was right along the beach, which was very convenient. The hotel is sandwiched between a strip of other hotels along the beach shoreline. The hotel is kid friendly and the pool is a medium size. You're able to use the pool at night which was great. Overall, the room we had (pictured) was small, but enough for the two of us. There is paid Valet parking, which you really want to take advantage of as it is so tricky to park on those tight Miami streets. Keep in mind you have to wait for them to retrieve your car, so leave early for any plans as you have to wait 5-10 minutes. The drinks are served generously with alcohol, which was nice! The breakfast menu is not Celiac and dairy-free friendly. Although it is a really nice spread, we had a lot of issues at breakfast so I ended up buying my own GF toast and peanut butter, and eating that. When I tried to chat with staff about my allergies, they weren't really able to direct me as to what was accessible for me. We ended up buying some groceries (and drinks) at a local Costco, and that worked for us. Although, it would have been nice to eat the breakfast because it looked delicious (potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, cereals, etc). My only feedback would be to improve upon the Gluten Free variety of foods as it is not that difficult to provide that now and many other hotels do it flawlessly.

By far the most overpriced hotel I've had the misfortune if staying at. Show up around mid night, go to the room and the key cards don't work. Go to front desk get new ones, still don't work. I then notice this is the only door on hallway with two locks. I got back to front desk and security comes with to help this time. It turns out the room they assigned us to was a storage closet. By the time we got in an actual room, it's like 2am. The rooms are depressing, the t.v is barely functioning and there are stains all over carpet. It took me about 15 minutes to get the shower to not burn me. I don't understand how I pay over $1400 and these people can't even check our room first. The next day I had a cleaning lady open my door a crack and walk away, when I stick my head out she approached me speaking anything but English and hands me the sign on my door that says "privacy please". Why is my door being opened when I have a privacy sign and without even knocking!!!!???? Also there are a total of 4 outlets in the room including the one that the awful tv plugs into. No fridge, no coffee maker, no ice machines. We asked a cleaning lady where ice is (they gave us a ice bucket) and the cleaning lady had no idea. I can probably run a better hotel with a bunch of pigeons as staff.

extra charges no matter if you pay ahead of time, pidgens on your breakfast meal ( THATS RIGHT, PIDGENS ON YOUR BREAKFAST MEAL), poor selections on breakfast, parking charges, poor air circulation on hallway, distinticve smell on hallway, no beach view, IDENTITY THEFT BEFORE AND AS SOON AS WE LEAVE THE HOTEL. DO NOT GO THERE I REPEAT, DO NOT GO THERE. IT WOULD BE LESS OF A VACATION FOR YOU.

This hotel was directly on the beach front. It was an ok stay. More effort into the breakfast could have been made. Bed was comfortable and the water was hot. Air Con worked beautifully.

This place is a scam. You will book online for the South Seas Hotel but they will put you in a separate building next door called the Richmond which is a far worse hotel. They claim it’s the same hotel but in all practical aspects it is different. The rooms are bare. The elevator breaks down. You share a door with another room and can hear everything. The accommodations weren’t god awful and it was relatively clean so I’ll give it two stars instead of one. What a shameful business practice to dupe customers like that. Avoid!

Don't stay here! I gave the review 2 stars only because of the location. Great location and walking distance to a lot of places. Leave the hotel and you are on the beach and the pool was great. Hammocks in the back were very relaxing. Breakfast is decent for being complimentary. The staff could be nicer. The pictures on the website is very misleading. The Hotel is outdated. The room was decent. We figured we would make the best of it seeing that we were only going to be sleeping in the hotel and be out most of the day. There aren't enough outlets to charge our cell phones. Towels by the pool were stained. There were these wings on the windowsill, we weren't sure what they were until our second night as we walked in from a great night on the town, we walk in to roaches all over the desk. GROSS!!! We complain to the night guard and he changed our room right away. As we walked into the new room we can already tell it's cleaner. The next morning we spoke to the manager and she has this dumbfounded look like she wasn't sure why we were complaining. She told us "Anywhere you go in Miami you are going to find roaches!" Really? She never apologized for the inconvenience. We did speak to her manager that afternoon and he at least apologized.

Small rooms but clean. Charge you 20$ per night for a "resort " fee which they don't mention on their web site as long with 29$ p/d parking. For 300$ per room the Internet speed is like from 2007. You are definitely gonna struggle if you need to do some work on your computer. The pool is nice though... Definitely would fine something cheaper for the same comfort....

I stayed at the South Seas Hotel in October. I would give the hotel 2 out of 5 stars. First of all, they charged a resort fee and it is far below what would be considered a resort. When I asked at the front desk why are they charging a resort fee and the desk clerk replied... I am being charged a resort fee for the 2 bottles of water in the room, the complimentary coffee in the room and a pool towel. I was too blown away. It was very pricey and the part I don't like is that I didn't know until it was time to check out. When I asked her where was it written she said in an email. I stood there and pulled up my emails. There was no such thing and she stated they must have had the wrong email. I didn't feel good at all about the expensive stay and would not return. The rooms were small, tub was backed up and slow to drain. once again for the price please shop around.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at South Seas Hotel. The location is great, we were able to walk to Ocean Dr., Lincoln Rd., and other attractions with no problem. The lobby, and pool area looks amazing, but the buck stops there. Once we pass the front desk we were greeted by musty old halls and small battered elevators. The carpet through out the hotel was old and I am sure aided in the corroded smelling hallways. Our room appeared clean upon entering, but stuffy with a noisy A/C unit that did not work properly. Breakfast was included in the stay. I was a little grossed out by the dirty chafing dishes and silverware, along with the dry potatoes and sausage. We decided to definitely skip breakfast the next day. The bar/restaurant is open until 10pm, but ordering a drink at 8pm was difficult with no staff in the bar area to help me. I returned to the bar a hour later at 9pm only to see that the bar was shut down. Upon check out I was greeted by a rude front desk agent who accused me and my husband of smoking in the room. Neither me nor my husband are smokers of any sort. The front desk agent proceeded to call the manager to the front desk. He also accused us of smoking in the room due to the smell in the hall, which got my husband a little upset. My husband explained to the manager that we are not smokers and that the halls are holding a massive amount of odors. The front desk agent proceeded to ask the manager what steps he wanted her to take next and he told her to "do nothing". The front desk agent continued the check out process by charging me for 2 nights of resort fees (Resort?....really?), while I was informed during check in that I would receive my full deposit back during check out. She showed me a form that stated the resort fees, and then proceeded to show me the form that states no smoking in the room, pointed at the paragraph and said " I guess you did not read the statement about no smoking in the rooms as well". I was extremely insulted and have never been treated in this manner by a front desk agent that job is to present great customer service. Miami was great, but this place left a bad taste in my mouth. Avoid this hotel if possible. All That Glitter, Is Not Gold!

The hotel had a musty moldy smell. The rooms were not cleaned to my standard. I found a hand print on the headboard. Bar staff was rude and racist towards me and my non-white family. Breakfast was mediocre and not very appertising. It did have a very nice pool and amenities. Conveniently located on the beach and in the bussel of Miami South Beach, near Ocean drive, restaurants and shops.

BUGS IN BED A friend and I stayed at the South Seas Hotel in Miami for a few nights. After the first night, we noticed a few bites on our feet. The second day, we searched the beds looking for the cause; we found several ants, larger than usual, in-between the box spring and the mattress as well as underneath the fitted sheet. We immediately contacted the staff, whose only response was “What do you want me to do about it?” Upon finally getting a supervisor to accompany us to the room, his response was to laugh at us and simply say, “Those aren’t bed bugs.” The staff was hesitant to give us another room and acted like it was an inconvenience to clean our room. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. For a few dollars more, you can get better service at a comparable hotel two doors down.

The front desk staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. One of the gentlemen (without the beard) gave us a room that already had guests. I opened the room and there was a family. It was embarrassing for both of us. The gentleman at the front desk was unapologetic and rude. He raised his voice as well. Please choose another property else the unwelcoming staff will give a bad start to your vacation

We were booked in South Seas for 3nights from 21June 2018 to 24 June 2018 and we’re allotted room no. 202 & 205. Our family with last name KAPOOR ( 8 members in total ) had the worst experience as on mid night of 21June 2018 the flush got blocked & Hotel Duty incharge Ms. Hather was not only rude , but also asked us to manage with blocked stinking toilet flush on our own. After a lot of verbal argument the room was changed & the hospitality shown by Hotel staff was very disappointing. Hotel Rooms are not the same as shown on website & breakfast is not good at all. The internet services are very poor. Had a very difficult time in South Seas Hotel , Miami South Beach but we could not change the Hotel due to pre booking amount of tariff already paid. We have retained all video clippings to prove all my above said claim. The trip to Miami was spoiled due to the above said reasons . We demand our full refund from the management with adequate compensation.

Without a doubt, the WORST and dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at! Don't be fooled, the pictures are all from their "2nd" hotel nearby, where u will not be staying. On arrival we had to ask house keeping to reclean our room. House keeping never came again, I've been emptying my pin garbage and making my own bed. I'm still at the hotel while writing this post. Stained carpets in the hallways and rooms, broken walls and chairs, stains on the linnens, mold and rust in the bathroom, waited till 5pm for house keeping that never came, pitiful excuse for breakfast...the list goes on and on. Don't say I didn't warn you folks. My last impression is that it's a run down hotel that they're just squeezing the last bit of money out of before tearing it down.

Terrible and untrustworthy hotel. I booked my stay through Airbnb and paid all occupancy taxes as part of my booking. The Hotel itself was the Airbnb host. A month after I had checked out, which was a week after the time had expired to leave a review on Airbnb, the hotel charge my credit card without my permission for the occupancy taxes again. They didn't tell me that they would do this and didn't send an invoice. Upon asking South Seas Hotel about the charge, and providing them with evidence that the Airbnb booking included the taxes, they refused to provide a refund and said for me to take it up with Airbnb, even though the hotel is the host on that platform. The whole process is very dodgy. The hotel is also very ordinary. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

This was the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. I stayed at this location on August they told me that the remaining of the payment was gonna be taken out after we checked out I waited 3 weeks to see anything on my back account finally i saw a pending transaction so I figure it got taken away .2 months later now in October they want to charge me the remaining balance 2 months after. I called and asked to speak to the manager he was the most disrespectful and rude person I have ever spoke on the phone with. First he tells me is not my fault that when they try to process my payment they had an issue with the bank then tell me in a very condescending way that is not his fault that I didn't notice that the payment didn't go thru. What they should have done is send me an email informing me that the payment didn't go thru and that it will be taken out in such and such date not hit me with the charges 2 months later on the beginning of the month. Not only he was rude he mocked my situation by saying is not my fault you had the money for the hotel and you spend it and now you don't have it. Who speaks to their guess like that ? you don't know me Sir. So disrespectful out of line and condescending whoever hired this person to represent their hotel needs to reevaluate it there decision. after all that he hanged up the phone on me didn't resolve anything i asked to speak to somebody else because he was out of line he informs me theres nobody else I can speak with I asked if he owns the hotel he says no but I run it. I would never stay here again and I suggest you don't either.save yourself a headache from people who don't know how treat guess DO. NOT. STAY. HERE. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! You don't speak to people like that.

First off, it's not what it is promised by pictures on the web when booking . Dirty buildings, rooms and carpets need replacement. Washroom is tiny and would not fit a large person. Access to the room next to you through shut doors connecting rooms where ppl are shouting and screaming the whole time. The night shift lady that sits in the south seas is the rudest pos in customer service and above all- I BOOKED for south seas and I was put in an even dirtier hotel next door called the Richmond!

Bad experience on new year Eve. The restaurant next door had an overnight outdoor party with extremely loud noise till 3:30 am. Hotel front desk told me they have city permit to have that party. However hotel didn't tell me when I checked in yesterday and put me in the room that is facing the next door restaurant. I have a big plan to see the city and beach today but I felt very tired.

This hotel was very disappointing to me. Small dirty rooms smelled old and musty. Small TV in the corner broken. Not even a refrigerator in the room. WiFi doesn’t work. Housekeeping and some other staff were rude. Housekeepers would knock on the door every 10 minutes until we felt like we were being kicked out of our room. Housekeeping barely touched the room besides making the beds and replacing towels. Towels had hair on them and pillows were stained. Window view of a wall and a dumpster. Only plus of staying at this hotel is the location and access to the beach. Bar staff was friendly but some were slow. Pool was below average. We addressed our complaints with the front desk who said there’s nothing they could do. I would not recommend staying here unless it was for only one night. Will not be returning next time.

When we arrived the person at the front desk was a bit rude no too much interest been nice, after that the lift was super small and old same with the hall going to the room, the room wasn't bad but the view was awful and the washroom old. the hotel fees are excessive for the service that they are giving. the only good thing is the location but even for that the price is not worked you easily can find another one for better price. I regret paying that amount of money for a cheaper place.

STAY AWAY!!! This place is not worth the money! Not only is the male desk attendant rude and lacks customer service, they deceive and pray on tourists. I live in Miami and decided to spend a weekend on the beach. I believe in upfront info when it comes to business and no shady practices. They’ll tell you one price for valet and charge you something different. Then tell you that why’ve been here for 20 years and it has always been that price. Right. The rooms are equivalent to a Super 8 Motel(one that’s in a bad neighborhood). Bugs in the bathroom, no shower curtains, the pillows had blood and stains on them.<br/>Go. Somewhere.Else. In response to the GM - as you notice in my review, I didn’t not mention the Valet services. They’re were kind and respectful to me trying to see where the discrepancy was. It was YOUR staff. The male check in clerk. He preceded to ask co-workers the price of the valet to reaffirm himself. RUDE and obnoxious. None of my friends and family will ever stay at your resort or affiliates ever. I will finish my reviews of my experience the other platforms too. As I’m sure nothing is going to be done about this and your post below is more collateral damage. If you truly wish to rectify this - give me a call or ask for my contact information.

Vacationers... BEWARE!!! We upgraded to a suite because the room was really small. It was very dirty and outdated. The lounge chairs were so dirty outside that we removed them and put towels down instead. It looks like it hasn't been looked after in quite some time! I had to call the front desk to have our room sprayed for ants they were everywhere! The so called supervisor was called to sweep the patio area and sprayed raid along the borders of the room. The table was never cleaned off and there was bugs crawling on the chairs and walls! When I checked out I told the woman who worked at the front desk how dirty the room was and she just looked at me and said I will let the manager know... What a disappointment. The room wasn't cheap and they actually can care less!!!

Horrible place to stay. The staff is not accommodating and if you have a pool view, the music blasts. Was trying to sleep and they “ran out of earplugs” and wouldn’t restock for their guests because they have to order via mail when there is a Walgreens down the street. I would not recommend this hotel. The front desk person told me people had been complaining all week about the noise but they still refused to turn it down.

This hotel was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in BY FAR. We were there for a last minute trip for NYE and didn't have any options. We booked online through a third party so we couldn't get a refund and had to stay there, or else we would've been out $500. Ended up sleeping on top of the blankets in our jeans. There were random hairs everywhere. The mattress and pillows had stains. The walls were paper thin and the toilet was so loud and kept running all night. The worst part of this trip besides probably getting bed bugs (see multiple reviews mentioning this) was the HORRIBLE people working the front desk. Lorena.. (?) was so nasty and rude and does not deserve a job in customer service. She literally shooed my husband and I away and got an attitude over everything. I get it, you work at a crappy hotel but you don't have to be mean to guests. The cherry on top of the cake was the card that was in the room said that valet was $29 and they charged us $35 and said it hadn't been that price in 5 years... so you're telling me you haven't done a quality check of your rooms in 5 years to see a card has been pared from 5 years ago with wrong info. Or honor what was listed? Yes it was $6 but it was the principal. Yikes. Must explain all the other reviews of the cleanliness and bed bugs. Stay far far far far way unless you want to stay in a roach motel and get treated rudely by Lorena and Rudy at the front desk! Show less

Save yourself the trouble and pay a few extra and stay somewhere nicer. Food and drinks was better at the hotel beside us. Only one bartender was nice and that was Natalie, she was very accommodating as for the other two they acted as if they hated their jobs, not resort material... one even put her hands on me and pushed my back and told me to go go go because I had walked in the bar area by the pool wet, but it hadnt been a problem any of the other times I had came and ordered a drink, not to mention there was wet floor signs EVERYWHERE, she was worried about others falling but didnt care if I fell as she pushed on my back. I told her not to put her hands on me, she did apologize but I dont understand where it is ever right for a worker of a resort to touch a guest. I respectfully followed her orders before she thought it was okay to touch me. Rooms look nothing like the pictures. Very small, dirty. Sand in the shower still when we arrived from the last person. Bed cover stained, carpet in hallways stained, Valet got a scratch on my car and had to do a incident report on it....one thing after another... bad bad experience

They lost our reservation. So we made a new one, which they charged us for. Also, we had a room that was right next to the street that was in front of the hotel. It was so loud that we could not sleep at all. Staff was rude, and the room was very dated with no appliances like a fridge or a microwave. This was the worst hotel I've stayed at in Florida. Not even close to being worth the $250/night.

This place was dirty tiles walls sheets everything hair in sheets coners of restrooms in the wash cloth and towels. Fixers were rusted sink door hinges window frames cracks in the walls. Ill never go back but i will say the staff was very friendly and professional. Close to the beach we choose this hotel for a one night stay next day cruise I cant say this was a situation of you get what you pay for because this hotel to me wasn't cheap.

I stayed at south seas hotel couple weeks ago. 1. Rooms very small and it smells something rotten in the room. 2. No Curtains in the bathroom and when you take shower all the water will be on the floor and that's so disgusting 3. When I checked in when I was talking to the receptionist he wasn't looking at me and he was busy with his phone and his computer. ( its like he is paying for my room!) 4. The valet guy when I was leaving the last day I tried just to park my car to get my luggages from the room he didn't let me and he told me he will tow my car. If there is anything under one star I'll rate you guys.

Rooms are very dated and hotel feels old and lacks amenities. Carpets feel conspicuously dirty under bare feet. Hazy windows don’t allow you to see the view. Small AC unit in wall barely cools room which is very stuffy and dry in the middle of the night. Entire staff was very friendly but the hotel was too pricey for this to redeem the other aspects. No latch on hotel room door so didn’t feel very safe while traveling alone with children. Also window are old and heavy and have no screens- also not safe for young children. Sadly did not sleep at all. Pool shaded but enjoyable. Suggest doing significant updates or lowering rates.

This is by far the worst place we have ever stayed at. If I could give this place a negative 0 I would. Let me just say the courtesy desk was rude and unprofessional. The rooms are old dirty and filthy. I actually slept on top on the covers with clothes. The towels that were left were used unclean to towels with someone else's hair on it which we realized when we opened it up and hairs fell out of it. The elevator are small and feel like it's going to fall they are dirty. . Save yourself the money and the aggravation. This place needs to be gutted and rebuilt. With new professional personnel.

This hotel should NOT be rated Over 2.5 stars. The staff is rude, the hallway and elevator are old, smell, and give you an overall dirty feel. The room was extremely underwhelming and not a space I would want to sleep in. These rooms should cost $60 a night if we’re basing it on quality. The only reason I’m giving this hotel 1 star is because the location is convenient. The pics are soooo deceiving.

There are definitely more hotels in the area that are in the same price range but have better rooms and amenities. I was put in the “Richmond” hotel which they say is part of the South Seas, even though I specifically booked this hotel for the South Seas through my credit card rewards. The front desk was not very accommodating with this situation and requested I pay $50 more per night for the South Seas, even though it was a booking error. The rooms are outdated and my room had a leaky shower. When I went to the pool, they would only give me one towel and refused to give me another. The whole experience was not very accommodating. I will not be coming back, and do not recommend this hotel to others.
