Opinions de Cowboy Prime Midland
I was concerned after reading some negative reviews that maybe this restaurant was overhyped however I really wanted to try after reading Graham Elliot had helped design the menu. I really loved the decor and ambience. The staff was courteous and accommodating when I called and asked if we could move our reservation an hour later. Our waiter Quest was great . He was really friendly and helpful when I could not decide what to order. The octopus was delicious and the texture was cooked to perfection. The only thing that wasn’t my favorite was the shrimp cocktail. I think it’s a good spot and would definitely recommend.
We come here often and today was just as great as ever. The food was terrific. I had the salmon and my husband had the peppercorn crusted filet. We also had the crime brûlée and chocolate molten lava cake. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of our meal or would have posted them. Quest was our server and he was very attentive and made the experience even better despite having only been here a week. I did not get the managers name but she was also great. We saw her bus tables, put out tablecloths, deliver food all the while also checking in on her diners. We will definitely be returning!
10/10 experience. our server amanda was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. we tried the sushi; highly recommend the ‘so fire roll’ and the ‘surf and turf roll’. the drinks were really well made too. the ‘crowned rose’ was my favorite. there is a nice selection of sake as well
I wanted to do something special for my wife for our anniversary! I made reservations weeks in advance but unknowing to me on the date that I chose to go Texas would experience a severe snow/ice event. I already had a babysitter and the day off. To my surprise, I called the restaurant and they said they had no intentions of closing for the weather unless the power went off. We made the one hour trip in the snow and ice for a rememberable dinner. The prices seem to be slightly elevated, but I do not mind paying extra for good service & Good food. The facility in my opinion was very clean and professional. The weight staff was very serious concerned about my wife and her food, allergies. They went above and beyond to ensure that there was no cross contamination or ingredients that was included in her allergies. The only small complaint that I had was the staff placed our eating utensils directly onto the table. I’m sure the table was clean, but that’s just one of my pet peeves. Always place the silverware on a plate or napkin never place it directly onto the table itself for sanitary reasons. Not a dealbreaker, but something that should be addressed.
Cowboy Prime is one of my favorite restaurants in the Permian Basin! Excellent staff and perfect atomosphere for a date night, upscale birthday dinner, or a night out with family/friends. All of the food is high quality and packed with flavor. The cocktails are some of my favorite and I never eat sushi anywhere else in the area but here because it’s so tasty and fresh! I’ve been frequenting Cowboy Prime since they first opened and I have only had positive experiences dining there.
My wife and I had an excellent experience! I have the upmost respect with establishments when something goes wrong and they give full effort ti make it right. We both order a cut of meat (medium rare/medium) which both came out well done and medium well. Our waitress Bri, made sure we were taken care of and went above and beyond. She brought us out new plates and provided a complimentary dessert. This place is amazing and would definitely recommend!!
10 of out 10, would recommend. The first thing we noted was every staff member we walked by greeted us. This plus the really nice atmosphere and decor were a great way to start the experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and they even left a nice note on our table (picture). They also accommodated our stroller for our baby. I don’t remember our server’s name, but she was super pleasant and checked on us multiple times. The cool thing about this restaurant is the menu offers super fancy (expensive) items, but also has regular (affordable) items as well. I forgot to take a picture before we ate, but my wife had the Steak Frites and I had the Dry-Aged Prime Burger. Both were extremely good and very filling as you can see from the plates. The fries are good too, but a little heavy on the Parmesan. Funny sidenote, I know I’m not a fancy guy at all, but in the bathroom, they didn’t have paper towels, but they had actual cloth towels. Multiple on a nice tray. I’ve never seen that before. Long story short, I air dried my hands. Using a towel in a public bathroom just seemed odd to me, but my wife said that’s what fancy restaurants do. Anyway, we plan to be back!
Cannot say enough GREAT things about the staff!!! They went above and beyond to help make our daughter’s 16th birthday extra special. The host services are spectacular. If you want to create a special atmosphere, I highly recommend contacting them well ahead of time with your requests; they are extremely gracious and will work with you within the best of their abilities.
An Exceptional Dining Experience at Cowboy Prime Steakhouse! From the moment we walked in, Cowboy Prime Steakhouse exceeded all expectations. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for both a casual night out or a special occasion. Our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish from the perfectly seared steaks to the flavorful sides was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into every bite. What really stood out, though, was the management. They were incredibly accommodating, checking in to make sure our experience was nothing short of excellent. It’s rare to see that level of genuine hospitality these days, and it truly made our night memorable. I highly recommend Cowboy Prime Steakhouse to anyone looking for top-tier service, outstanding food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!
Wow! Food was amazing from the appetizers all the way to the dessert. I ordered the NY Strip and my wife ordered the filet they were cooked to perfection. As for the service our waiter Audie was very tentative to our dinning experience. He made great recommendations and ensured that we enjoyed the meal. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you for a memorable night.
I was a bit hesitant to give Cowboy Prime a try after reading some reviews, but I’m glad I did. You step into a warm and elegant ambiance. The attentive staff provided great recommendations. I enjoyed the spice dusted ribeye which was flavorful. The wine list pairs nicely with the menu. The butter graham cracker dessert was out of this world and a delightful finish to a delicious meal. Cowboy Prime exceeded expectations with excellent food and service. A must-visit!
Cowboy Prime is highly worth visiting. There was not a single item that was not worth eating. Each meal is beautifully plated, and the taste is beyond amazing. My wife had the beef stroganoff, and I had the blackened NY strip steak. All of our food was amazing. Our waitress was helpful, kind, and jovial, something missing from many restaurants today.
Steakhouse Heaven! This local gem nailed it! Steaks cooked to absolute perfection - melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The True Buckaroo cocktail, is a generous Old Fashioned done right. Crispy rock shrimp app was a fantastic start. I would personally skip the sides, but SAVE ROOM for the Baked Texas (for two!) - worth every calorie. Go for the steak & drinks, stay for the dessert!
My husband brought me here to celebrate my birthday today. This was our 2nd visit. Atmosphere was good, we were seated near the bar which was kinda loud at first. Our server was very professional, helpful and attentive. We both ordered the Peppercorn crusted filet. My husband ordered medium well, which came out butterflied. Unfortunately, it was very dry and had very little flavor. I ordered my steak medium and was it a little too bloody for me. I did not complain, we accepted our meal as it came. The 1st time, we visited here about 6 months ago, in the evening everything was perfect. This time we arrived at 4pm trying to beat the dinner rush. We will not give up on this place but it was disappointing today.
The staff and service were great. Very detailed and attentive: our waitress changed our cocktail glass a few times to make sure the drink stayed cold - never seen that done before. Our food was good but nothing spectacular; our favorite was the crispy salmon on the happy hour menu. The portions were also very small, even for a high end dining experience.
I have been wanting to give Cowboy Prime a try for months! With my husband's late hours and busy schedules it just hadn't happened until this past weekend. My husband took a rare weekend off just to celebrate my birthday and made reservations on Friday night. Our reservations were for 9:15pm but we decided to go a few minutes early on the off chance we could get seated a little earlier and we figured we'd have drink at the bar if not. We checked in and headed for the bar which was very full but our wait was not too long. I immediately noticed a child at the bar playing with slime with a group of adults which I thought was unusual and probably ill advised but not my business and the bar staff didn't seem to have an issue with it. After receiving our drinks we went back toward the waiting area and ran into another couple we know who where also there for date night. They did not have reservations and didn't mind waiting. Our reservation time came and went. Our friends who came in with no reservations were seated well before we were. Finally an hour after our reservation time we were seated at the corner table closest to the bar. It was a little loud but not a big deal. The waiter came over and took our drink order. After waiting for about 20 minutes my husband finally went to the bar himself to get us some drinks. Of course, that's when our drinks finally came to the table. As we were looking over the menus, a man headed back to the bar obviously tipsy, knocked right into me where I was seated, without so much as an apology. The food was ok. It was not the best I had ever had. Honestly for the prices I expected much better. We had been to their sister restaurant Felipe's (formerly F1) and had the best service and delicious meals, so we had high hopes. Reading the reviews I don't understand how there is such a disparity between our experience and those who rave about it. I guess it's the luck of the draw and taste preferences? Anyway, our experience was such a disappointment, we definitely will not be back.
I go here regularly for a special occasion, had a few business meetings. The food is generally good if you go at night. The service is some of the worst I’ve seen. Anytime I go, it’s almost comical how bad the service is. They mess up and just double down and keep messing up. Sit for 15-20 min before they come over. Get orders wrong, forget drinks. I still go because the food has always won. Then I had a lunch meeting, we all ordered off the high end steak menu at my recommendation. When I order an $80 steak rare, same with the rest of the table. We got about $400 of murdered over cooked steaks. Hard to tell it’s dry aged when it’s so well done, I couldn’t chew it. I’m not a send food back kinda guy. You all have a great concept, but your staff is some of the worst in the area for any service, and DO NOT order steaks at lunch.
We ordered a NewYork strip at $95 medium well & a ribeye at $120 well done. The New York strip was dry & tough & the ribeye looked like charcoal. We were never offered refills on our tea. We spoke with the waiter, who said he would speak with the manager, but the manager walked right by our table with his nose in the air. We paid the $225 bill, lesson learned. Hope this helps someone not make the same mistake
I wanted to like it, I gave it a second chance, but I was once again disappointed I had a reservation for 6, but we weren't seated until 6:40. After that it was just continuous waiting. Each time the waiter checked in on us must have been 15 to 30 minutes between each instance. It took a frustrating amount of time for the waiter to come around to take our order. All the wait staff appeared as if they were deliberately ignoring our and other tables. The food took exceptionally long to come out, which was frustrating because I had skipped lunch in anticipation of what should have been a marvelous dinner. In between asking for the dessert menu, they picked up the plates from the other members of our party, and they weren't even finished with their food, and they remarked as much, much to the disinterest of the wait staff. All this could have been ignored if the dessert came out well. I love creme brulees, a lot. I was hesitant to ask for a creme brulee here as the last time I had one at this restaurant, I had asked for one without toppings (implying no fruits or extra things other than the custard and the caramelized sugar) and they only brought the custard without the burnt sugar on top. This time I was more specific, I asked for one without fruit (which some of which I was allergic to) ...it came with fruit. Only saving grace was that the manager came out with a creme brulee relatively quickly (implying i didn't have to wait another 15-20 minutes) At that point I just wanted to pay the bill and leave as I had checked out Needless to say, for the price not only do i demand excellence, but I expect it. I go to "fancy" restaurants maybe 3 times a year, so to have one of these dinners be of such low quality, its disappointing.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The highly recommended dish lacked flavor and tasted like it may have come from frozen ingredients. The beet salad was the highlight of the meal and the only dish I truly enjoyed. On a positive note, the service was excellent—our server was attentive, professional, and courteous.
I drove 2.5 hours to try this place based on strong recommendations and high expectations. While I have no issue paying for quality food and service, I was ultimately disappointed. Coming from a large city in California where there is no shortage of exceptional dining options, I found the food here to be underwhelming in comparison. That said, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, that was the only standout aspect of the experience. The atmosphere lacked energy and felt flat, which added to the overall letdown. While I truly appreciate great service, I personally would not recommend this restaurant, nor do I plan to return. If you’re looking for a more satisfying experience, a traditional steakhouse might be a better choice. $300 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 They asked if we were celebrating anything, and I mentioned that we’re celebrating a birthday. I figured a simple “Happy Birthday” or maybe even a small gesture like a cupcake would follow. It just felt a bit odd to ask and then not acknowledge it in any meaningful way.
