If you are looking for traditional Italian sea food and pasta this is the place! The food was absolutely delicious, authentic, and full of flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere! P.S. Shoutout to our server, Massimo, who's reccomendations from the menu were spot on! The cherry on the cake was the local dessert that was served that evening aka la tete...hahaha...it even had the consistency of one, well done gents!

We came across this hidden gem while walking in a beautiful square in Monopoli. The owner and the waiters were amazing and offered us an authentic italian experience. Enjoyed a lovely lunch on their front terrace in the Square. My Scampi and shrimp pasta was delicious. The tomato sauce was balanced perfectly with the seafood flavor. My spouse had a Margherita pizza which was delicious as well. Great service and price was very reasonable. Great Fiano wine accompanied the meal. Highly recommend.

We were looking for classic Apulian food in Monopoli and came upon this restaurant. The Strascinate con ragù di polpo and Orecchiette alla Nerano were wonderful. Highly recommended for a nice dinner in town.

Great food and lovely service. We had lovely primo specialty pasta followed by a fantastic seafood mix grill. My son had a steak and it was cooked to perfection. Best fries ever! Not the regular fries… I don’t usually eat fries but couldn’t stop pinching them from my son’ plate :-D Gianni is a lovely gentleman. We mentioned children very hungry and they welcomed us 30min earlier. Thank you :-)

this restaurant does not deserve its name, but this is a good thing! this way you can try more seafood, as all of it is really well prepared and super fresh! monopoli is a true fishing town and anybody who would dare to not serve the daily catch here would probably be chased out of town immediately, haha! Siamo arrivati al ristorante intorno alle 13:30 ci hanno fatto sedere tranquillamente, siamo stati subito raggiunti dalla cameriera che ci ha chiesto cosa volessimo bere. Ristorante molto suggestivo nel centro storico di Monopoli con tavoli sia all'interno che all'esterno. All'interno è molto curato e ben arredato, l'accoglienza e l'attenzione dei camerieri è ottima. Abbiamo ordinato un antipasto di mare composto da 8 portate fredde e calde, tutte molto buone. Invitanti anche diverse tipologie di secondi di pesce, ad esempio la tagliata di tonno. Piatti ben presentati. Unico neo della serata purtroppo sono stati i primi, non soddisfacenti. In generale, però è un ristorante consigliato in cui andare a mangiare a Monopoli.

Locale in centro a Monopoli molto carino nella piazzetta. Proprietario molto gentile. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è buono. Il prezzo è più basso della media e la qualità è buona. Le porzioni però sono molto ristrette. Abbiamo preso linguine alle vongole e fritto misto con patate.. tutto molto risicato ma il prezzo basso giustifica!? Abbiamo cenato dentro. Eravamo in 4. Soute di cozze palesemente stracotte, riscaldate. Frutturina di calamaretto spillo poteva essere qualsiasi cosa pochissimo sapore (fritto nello stesso olio della frittura mista perche c’erano code di alici e baffi dei gamberi). Abbiamo ordinato 2 piatti di linguine alle vongole ma erano linguine in bianco con olio a crudo e 6/7 vongole di poco sapore. Tagliolino con polpo e pecorino stessa cosa, tagliolino al sugo con 2 polipetti aggiunti dopo. Nemmeno le salse pronte perche il sugo non sapeva minimamente di pesce(polipetti). Ok era domenica, agosto etc però tanti clienti e il prezzo basso rispetto alla media non giustifica piatti del genere. Aumenta i prezzi di 3/4 euro e dai più sapore ai piatti. Con 11 euro un primo di pesce non riuscirai mai a fare di meglio nel centro storico di Monopoli.

Siamo stati in questa osteria ieri sera posto carino, arredamento rusticò ma piacevole, il menu non è aggiornato rispetto al menu che gira su internet. I prezzi sono più alti di quello che mi aspettavo per essere un’ osteria, hanno un menu ridotto scelta tra 4 primi e 3 secondi. Abbiamo ordinato 3 primi di tagliolini e 1 di orecchiette, un fritto misto ,una bottiglia di vino, 2 bottiglie d’acqua e 4 coperti (2,50 cad) I tagliolini erano molto buoni peccato che erano forse 40gr per un piatto che costava 16€ e le orecchiette erano davvero insipide il cuoco si è scordato che esiste il sale. Il fritto misto buono ma niente di speciale Mentre il vino era molto buono. Prezzo 110€

Siamo in viaggio per la Puglia e ci siamo imbattuti in questo ristorante a Monopoly, abbiamo ordinato delle pizze, che erano delle buone pizze, 2 primo, tra cui uno arrivato in ritardo essendo che se ne erano dimenticati e la frittura di pesce. su quest’ultima il pesce era pieno delle sue interiora, facendolo presente a chi lavorava, si sono giustificati dicendo “a noi ce lo portano così” senza nemmeno provare a risolvere la situazione oppure chiedendo un semplice “scusa”. lo sconsiglio se siete di passaggio a Monopoli

We came in and were surprised by how quickly the food arrived – almost too fast, to the point where it felt like it had been prepared before we even ordered. The pizza unfortunately tasted more like a pre-made, factory dough than a fresh Italian crust, and while the pasta was okay, it didn’t stand out. Metti una sera nella bella e luminosa Monopoli, e metti il caso che vorresti deliziarti con un bel pacchero con l'astice, lo vedi esposto e lo ordini...ma tutte le aspettative.. disilluse in un attimo, cosa ti arriva ? Un anonimo piatto con un pacchero immerso in un concentrato di pomodoro e pezzetti di astice come condimento...ma il carapace dov'è? Normalmente quando si ordina questo piatto arriva almeno mezzo astice da spolpare, fa parte del rito di chi ordina questa pietanza a quel prezzo. Ci siamo rimasti molto male, per non offendere la cucina, non li abbiamo mandati indietro, ma a mio avviso è impresentabile un piatto così, per giunta condimento e pezzetti di pesce totalmente scollegati, mi è parso che il sugo fosse stato preparato a parte. Quando hanno sparecchiato ho fatto presente il fatto, dicendo di esserci rimasta male e che se lo avessi saputo non l'avrei ordinato. Mi è stato risposto "il collega non l'ha avvisata?".. E no... Dopo questa segnalazione il nostro tavolo è stato definitivamente abbandonato , nessuno è venuto a chiederci se volessimo altro, non ci hanno più considerato. Alla fine, alquanto infastiditi dalla serata totalmente deludente, abbiamo chiesto il conto, e la persona che aveva precedentemente preso l'ordine si è scusata offrendoci un sorbetto e un pasticciotto. Veniamo alla disposizione del tavolino piccolo e incastrato tra altri due, praticamente i capelli di un commensale accanto sarebbero potuti cadere tranquillamente sul nostro tavolo. Per concludere coperto euro 3.50 a persona uno sproposito. La pasta con l'astice 25 euro davvero troppo per come la propongono. Conto pagato 82 euro con il vino. Locale prettamente turistico nell'accezione negativa. Per esperienza molto negativa personalmente non mi sento di consigliarlo, o almeno non prendete l'astice ne rimarrete delusi.

Esperienza terribile! Siamo stati a cena io, mia madre e mio fratello, attratti dai prezzi abbordabili, ma è stata una disavventura unica. Inizialmente abbiamo chiesto se ci fosse posto e ci viene detto di tornare dopo 15 min e così abbiamo fatto, ma una volta ritornati la gente (senza prenotazione anche loro) continuavano a passarci avanti. Una volta seduti e scelto cosa ordinare il cameriere inizia a prendere l'ordine, ma si gira verso il tavolo a fianco per poi sparire. Stavo ordinando ma ok. Per quanto riguarda il cibo è stato altamente deludente, non so come si possa definire osteria di mare, dal momento che di pesce fresco neanche l'ombra e il pesce portatoci al tavolo era pure cotto male. Il pane ci è stato praticamente lanciato sul tavolo e sembravano gli avanzi di qualcuno, vi erano 4 pezzi di cui 2 spezzati visibilmente a mano. Nella mia degustazione di antipasti (pagata 14€, piatto strapagato per la "qualità" presentata) il cous cous aveva dei grumi freddissimi, che parevano appena usciti dal frigo se non addirittura dal surgelo, il gamberetto (1 solo) stracotto, le alici sottaceto sembravano palesemente quelle dei barattoli del supermercato, insalatina di pesce da cercare col binocolo. Come primo ho provato lo spaghetto alle vongole; che dire era una pasta in bianco senza personalità e sapore a cui sono state aggiunte delle vongole senza gusto in un secondo momento, di cui la maggior parte erano gusci vuoti. Mia madre e mio fratello han preso entrambi la frittura di calamaretti che parevano residui di frittura fatta male e basta e come primo tagliolini con polpo e pecorino, dove anche qui pareva una pasta con passata di pomodoro versata dal barattolo e senza sapore a cui sono stati aggiunti due pezzi in croce di polpo scotto. Nel momento in cui il cameriere ha chiesto come andasse la cena, gli ho gentilmente spiegato cosa ci fosse che non andava, ma la critica non è stata accettata, denotando un atteggiamento poco professionale. Una cena da dimenticare, infatti, per fare ciò abbiamo concluso la cena andando in un altro posto a mangiare le polpette, giusto per toglierci l'amaro in bocca lasciato da questa cena deludente.

Bad, sloppy service, do not care about their clients, and scant portions. Turist trap (check out, the only positive reviews are of foreigners who have not idea what they're talking about). Might be "good value for price" for turists, but for locals the portion of mixed fried seafood is ridiculously scant for its price. In the picture, a portion of mixed fried seafood supposedly for 2 people. Moreover, the service is sloppy and superficial. Leaving aside the throwing of the cutlery on the table, and letting them fall on clients while picking them up (I'm a waitress in an Italian restaurant, that's not how it's done), 1st thing we asked walking in was if there was a long waiting time, which they confirmed there wasn't (it was 2.41pm, late lunch for the place, the restaurant was basically empty and everyone had finished their lunch). We get served the scant mixed fried seafood (with a ridiculous complimentary baby octopus -moscardini- ) 40' later. The german couple who entered after us, had been served 2 mixed fried seafood plates 15' before us. Later they confirmed it was their mistake, explaining the moscardini plate. As an Apulian, I would never go back Almarea. There are many more respectful and authentic places, still not corrupted by overturism.

The worst meal I’ve had in ages. The photos in reviews from a couple of months back are totally different to what we received. The fish we received was so overcooked and the portion was tiny. For the same money, you’d get a much better meal elsewhere. The service was poor and communication between them seemed really disorganised. Avoid at all costs.

Meant to go to other restaurants but as they were full and not taking reservations we ended up in this one, as it still had places available. Seemed the typical tourist restaurant and we ended up confirming that later. We asked for calamaretti for starters and it was not what we had in mind but ok. The worse was while eating , some of them were full of sand inside. It can happen but it shouldn't. Then we had orecchiette which were super hard, not even close to be al dente and also pasta alle vongole which was ok but nothing special, quite average. They also charged 8€ for a glass of wine which i think was a super exaggerated price. Comparing to the bottle prices and other things. The waiters also were not super friendly. Not rude but not nice either. Seemed like they were doing a favour to be there. Overall bad experience and not worth it.

Avoid at all cost, this was a truly disappointing culinary experience. We had the pulpo pasta - while the pasta itself was good, the red sauce was from a jar for sure. There is no way the sauce was home made on the spot. Would not recommend.

Awful restaurant, they overcharge you by giving you menus with different prices compared to what you are paying at the end. Make sure you always check your bill at the end before paying, but better avoid the place. Tasteless food, our beef came overcooked, they took it back to the kitchen and served the same piece even more cooked saying that they just warmed it up.

Very disappointed in this restaurant and will never return. We waited an hour for our food to arrive - Other tables arrived after us and received their food quicker. We asked staff for our food and they still didn’t bother to bring it out to us. We never received our entree after multiple reminders. When we paid the bill they weren’t apologetic about forgetting meals. We were even over charged. Very awful service and very rude waiters. Do not eat at this trap

This is the worst place we have ever been!! We ordered 3 Italian pizzas that were disgusting, and the pizzas in South Korea were better. They have charged us 3 x 2,50 Euros per plate for service!! And did not return our 3,6 Euros from given 40. This was outrageous!! They have robbed us!! Do not go there!! Please do not look at the positive reviews. This people either have no taste or were temporary blind for the arrogant behavior. These people the personnel are scammers. I am sure that they apply this methodology only to tourists that cannot do much.
