Opinions de Monterey Regional Airport Monterey
This airport is small but thats what makes it great! Checking your bags in, getting through TSA and finding a seat at your gate is seriously 10 minutes tops on a normal day. It may take a little longer during the holidays but everything is so close to each other so theres not much walking to do Drop off and Pick up is two steps away from the baggage claim area as well! Highly recommend
Monterey Regional Airport is a small but very efficient airport with a pleasant atmosphere and simple organization. Check-in and security are quick and hassle-free, making travel much more comfortable than at larger airports. The staff is friendly and always ready to help, and the terminal is clean and easy to navigate. Perfect for travelers seeking a calm and convenient flying experience.
Well run, super convenient small airport with the prices and flight schedules getting better. Do take care when booking arriving late night flights as fog can cause reroutes, delays or cancellations. Not really the fault of the airport, but it does affect which airport and airline we choose.
Monterey Regional Airport is a fantastic small airport that makes travel easy and stress-free. The staff is friendly, security lines are quick, and the terminal is clean and well-maintained. The convenience of flying in and out of Monterey without the hassle of larger airports is a huge plus. The views during takeoff and landing are absolutely stunning, showcasing the beauty of the California coast. Overall, a smooth and pleasant experience—highly recommend flying through here!
Great little regional airport 🛫 Rental car 🚗🚙🛻 agencies, gift 🎁 shop, restaurant and close to town.
Small, but great outdoor to wait your boarding.
What a great airport to call home! I love flying in and out of this small airport, as it is convenient, the staff is friendly. The airport has received approval for expansion, so it will be growing.
I never thought I’d be raving about a small airport with a charming restaurant but I am. My wife and I were in town for a convention and heading out of town we decided to stop at their only restaurant. Thinking it would be mediocre at best…we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered not only great food, but the nicest and most charming waitress; a local gal with the greatest sense of humor. One note: I’m told that on warm days you can sit out in the deck and watch planes come and go; that could be nice. We were delighted!
Small local airport with five (5) gates. You board all the gates via a portable ramp. The TSA is fairly fast and friendly. The airport has a small bar/convenience store that actually serves mixed drinks. Overall super cute, efficient, and friendly. Please note the planes flying into this airport are small commercial planes.
Because of the small airport and limited flights, the TSA checkpoint was quick. The Alaska waiting area was good with plenty of seats. The only drawback is the upon announcing boarding, half of the people rushed the gate. Give me a break folks, the plane is not going anywhere until everyone is on board.
Great little airport. Super cool say to get to. And 10min from Monterey beach/Pier. Car rental facilities on site next to baggage claim. 1 small gift shop and 1 small coffee / snack shop on site. And a little bar. Getting thru security and to your gate takes 2min
Love this airport and glad the prices are getting more cheap to arrive here. Mr. Gray, the TSA supervisor had so much tolerance and genuine kindness to each passenger. Made the end of the trip pleasantly enjoyable.
A small but very functional airport. I loved that I didn't have to follow endless hallways & different floor levels to find the baggage claim. Loved it, as it was my first experience there. The flight I had was out of LAX and was one of the smoothest one's I've experienced.

Long term parking was a breeze. Even during construction. The walk was short and downhill. We walked right in to check in and there was no line in security. This airport is small and a bit dated as of now, but super easy to navigate. Would fly out of here more often if I could.
Best airport! Friendly and professional TSA staff making the security check a breeze. Perfectly made cappuccino at the coffee shop before boarding with a fresh pastry. Great travel experience all the way around.

Charmingly small, but still well connected with service from 3 major carriers to their hubs, along with a smattering of low-cost carriers. Friendly staff, short waits and beautiful outdoor patio to enjoy the views of the tarmac round out this exceptional experience.
A small, yet very charming and clean airport. You walk out to the plane from your gate, very old school. It’s a pleasant experience flying in and out of this airport. There’s only one restaurant, Woody’s, that you can eat at before going through TSA. Once you go through, there’s a vending machine for drinks and a vending machine for snacks.
This was my first time at the Monterey airport. It's pretty small. There was a short line to check my bag and no line at TSA. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The TSA agents were cheerful which was surprising considering their paychecks will be delayed due to the lack of a Fed budget. There's free wifi and a charging station with lots of outlets.

I usually love this airport but it is quite unreliable for night landings. There is no air traffic control at night. Often there is dense fog and flights can’t land. Tonight for some inexplicable reason the runway lights were turned off while our UA5670 flight was trying to land at 11pm. No staff could be contacted by the crew to get the lights turned on. Pretty ridiculous for an airport that has aspirations of becoming a larger regional hub.
This was our second, ever, worst TSA experience and we fly at least 2-3 times a year. This was our 6th flight with our infant. Everything that could be dismantled and unpacked, we were made to do. First time we were ever asked to place his car seat, removed from his stroller, on the belt for scanning rather than being wanded. First time ever, in my life of owning a Kindle, was I made to take it out and have my bag run back through. I've owned a Kindle since they came out and take it on every trip. They held my husband's wallet until they were done combing through alllll of our things. The agents absolutely acted like we were inconveniencing them. Thank goodness nobody else was in line. So, there's that perk. Short lines. And there's an outdoor waiting area which we gladly took advantage of while sipping wine after our unpack and repack everything with a 10-month-old in tow. Hope to never fly in/out of this airport again!

Arrival/pick up area is too small and congested. Baggage carousel is broken half the time. You're F'd if you have a cancelation.

Never again! Long hike in pouring rain thru deep water in long term parking. Exit gate malfunction causing long delay getting out. Which caused an additional day charge for parking. Never Again MRY.
Operation: Stripe Extraction Monterey Regional Airport, 0300 Hours Mission Status: Compromised I arrived at the AO (Area of Operation) one hour before boarding. Intel suggested a routine insertion into long-term parking, followed by a smooth extraction via Gate Alpha. What followed was a logistical ambush orchestrated by a rogue ticket dispenser and a call center command structure that had clearly gone off-grid. Phase One: Contact Upon arrival, I encountered a jammed ticket hanging from the dispenser like a white flag of surrender. I initiated standard protocol—pressing the button. The machine responded with a cryptic transmission: > “Please grab your stripes.” Stripes? Is this a promotion ceremony? A covert barcode retrieval op? I pressed again. > “Please pull your stripes.” Still no stripes. No ticket. No clarity. Just a blinking light and the creeping suspicion that this machine had been programmed by a disgraced linguist with a vendetta against clarity. Phase Two: Comms Breakdown I hit the “Help” button. It patched me through to a call center that sounded like it was operating out of a submarine in the Indian Ocean. The speaker quality was so degraded I felt like I was trying to coordinate an airstrike using a McDonald’s drive-thru intercom. The operator requested my last name. I gave him “Smith.” He asked me to repeat it. Seven times. I considered switching to the NATO phonetic alphabet—Sierra Mike India Tango Hotel—but feared it might trigger a system reboot or cause his headset to combust. Phase Three: Tactical Failure The operator assured me he would raise the gate remotely. The machine buzzed, clicked, and then... nothing. The gate remained closed. He sounded genuinely shocked, as if the gate had betrayed him personally. Meanwhile, a convoy of civilian vehicles had formed behind me, headlights glaring like judgmental spotlights. He then issued the final directive: > “Sir, you’ll have to find another gate.” At Monterey Regional. During construction. With no signage. No map. No second gate. This was not a tactical relocation—it was a retreat into chaos. Phase Four: Extraction Under Fire I briefed the convoy behind me, executed a reverse maneuver under pressure, and rerouted to short-term parking. The entire operation burned through my 45-minute buffer. I reached TSA just in time to hear my name echo through the terminal like a last rites announcement: "Final boarding"
