Opinions de Peet's Coffee Monterey
Excellent service. Medium sized Peet's. Nice choice of baked goods and great coffee beverages.
Great coffee as always and wonderful atmosphere to enjoy your coffee as well As a breakfast sandwich or pastry
Great coffee, no stale coffee odor, fruit and cheese box preferable to competitors. Just wish there were more of them in our area.
Delightful staff, nice service, good coffee and good bakery. I enjoyed being there with my 8-year old son. Thanks staff
Great friendly staff Their coffee is excellent. Really love the fresh local pastries that come in daily.
Amalyah made my morning, I ordered new protein, coffee and when I went down to pick my order , she smiled and gave her great hospitality , thanks girl
Good coffee, good coffee-shop vibe (soft, unobtrusive music, spacious, well-lit interior, nice furniture), and good location right at the transit center downtown. I was just visiting Monterey for 2 days, but I went to this Peet's twice. I highly recommend it.
The coffee is much more delicious than that offered by Starbucks. If you haven't tried the Coconut Black Tie, you're missing out and should probably reevaluate your life choices. Love Peet's!
Best coffee in Monterey. The staff is great. Hugging the building is an accessible beer garden for all those beer drinkers out there. There is fast internet and friendly conversations happening all around, but unfortunately not many outlets for laptops.
Cafe au lait& butter croissant for me. Coffee is strong, as it should be. Easy parking- it is near a Trader Joes. Stopped in for coffee at 7am. Wonderful customer service. The lady at the register let us know we could download the app for rewards. It's little things like that I appreciate. No 'tudes, or bad vibes.
This is a pretty standard Peet's Coffee, but the outdoor seating area is awesome. Really enjoy going here for a coffee and having a great area to sit and catch up on work.
Great little town meeting spot with great coffee, staff and patrons. Centrally located right across from the Monterey Transit Center for easy accessibility. Sunny days, laid back mood and a pleasure to visit.
Newly remodeled with comfortable table and chairs. Their chai latte and ginger cookies are THE BEST. Also have a wonderful dog friendly :) outdoor patio shared with the Fieldwork Brewing Company!
It is the only Peets in Monterey. I love the taste, I love the food. I am not happy with the fact it is closed at 6 p.m. It is a nice popular place. I wish less people will go there.
Super great environment everyone for the most part is friendly you always get that 1 staff that isn't as cool as the rest besides the 1 woman with a bad attitude the staff is awsome friendly helpful coffee is great
The Best Coffee in ALL Monterey! It gets pretty busy sometimes having to wait in line, BUT what great place that serves coffee doesn't get busy? Great people, overall Coffee for REAL COFFEE DRINKERS!
The barista/cashier suggested and helped me make a drink that was just perfect the way I like it. Does get very crowded so order ahead might be a good option, but we went earlier enough that the wait was ok.
Was in a slight pinch of time since I was traveling back to PA today. Cheap Coffee, tasted great, fast and respectful service, and cured my morning headache lol. Definitely recommend!
Place was packed. I go to Peets coffee just to have my favorite black tea - Assam Golden Tip. Not all the putlets keep that. But I was pleased to find it here. If you are a tea drinker you got to try this out at Peet's. For parking you have to get inside the complex and enter the coffee place. Although From the road side it looks like there isnt a place to park.
Free parking lot. Sunny outside patio. Lots of places to plug in a laptop... Oh, and my latte was great! My friend's "extra dry" cappuccino was made correctly.
Definitly the premiere coffee shop in Monterey. The coffee is superb and the baristas are excellent. Fresh nutmeg, cinnamon, and unsweetened cocoa are always available. Convenient location accross from Trader Joe's and plenty of parking.
Loved this store!!! Staff was amazing and the coffee is so much better than Starbucks! We also got the breakfast sandwiches witch were surprisingly tasty.
Nice customer services and plenty of parking in the early morning. But after 8 am traffic because of the Trader Joe open
Comfortable loungy atmosphere - miss unstreamlined businesses where you feel like hanging out - this has it. Coffee quality is above average for the price - everything is expensive around here.
Love their coffee drinks and pastries. Friendly staff, very helpful. Just wish you could sit inside.
Cold brew is really really good here must return for more. Good service and I got here without a wait. Atmosphere is hard to judge at the moment since the place is not crowded. Pretty standard I guess.
Peet's Coffee offers a clean and cozy atmosphere for you to enjoy your beverage (and/or snack), do some light work, or have a small meeting with a few folks. The atmosphere, in my opinion, is superior to Starbucks, and the coffee tastes better, too. We could go back and forth on corporate coffee, fair trade, tastes, etc. However, you'd be talking to a guy that typically drinks the cheapest stuff he can find at the grocery store. If you haven't tried Peet's give it a shot.
Whole crew is so sweet and kind. They make sure you get exactly what you pay for. Love the coffee it’s definitely high quality coffee you can taste:) it’s for sure the place to go.
The staff here are friendly know me by name and know my order when I walk in the door( kinda like cheers without the beer )I love this place, great little space to kill some time if you need to. They play an eclectic selection of music some mornings makes me want to bust a move. I definitely recommend peets to any locals or tourist.
Great Coffee ☕️ shop. Locals walk up & go. Downtown center area. Walking zone. Peaceful & busy.
The best! We were traveling through the area and ordered through the app... but accidently ordered it to our hometown peets. When I told them what happened, they didn't make us pay for our drinks and made our order there. Totally unexpected and incredible customer service. Thank you!
The staff at Peet's rocks the house. Even the new trainees are friendly and not frazzled. They work very hard to keep the line short. Oh, and the coffee is FANTASTIC!! Love their choice of baked goods too. My go to coffee shop.
I had a dark roast coffee and brought my own cup. Connie helped me and offered to make a fresh pot. I appreciated her smile, hospitality and attention to quality. There are plugs outlets all over for charging your phone, lighting is soft, music not to loud, good Internet and bathroom. This one in Monterey in the trader Joe's market. One very unfortunate and important point I just found out though is that Peet's is owned by the Reimann family who has given a lot of money towards the apartheid state of izr@eel so actually this will be my last coffee here
I had the Horchata Cold brew, and slider. Absolutely loved this place and I wished there was more around
Omfg delicious always, they know how to roast and brew coffee. They have the best staff, always so polite and helpful. Anything you order is handcrafted and absolutely delicious. They're frittatas are one of the best breakfast things on the menu
Tried their new Blossom Matcha Latte. Delicious! Wish they still had the chicken and waffles sandwich though—that was a classic!
Best coffee shop hands down. Customer service is awesome and they treat you very nice. Not yo mention their brew of coffee is second to none. In their coffee drinks you can taste the coffee and not just the sweet taste. So if you enjoy the real taste of excellent coffee ,hit up Peet's Best coffee ever.
Nice coffee shop. I was visiting family and went here often. Friendly staff and coffee was always fresh. They do a good job wiping down tables regularly. Seems like a fun locals spot and dog friendly!
Very empty an quiet. I loved it. Service was ok, was skipped when ordering. Went back for water and th older lady look like she did not want to service me.
Staff here are all great. Very quick and efficient service which is perfect for grabbing coffee before work. I love their pastries, especially the cinnamon rolls, morning bun and banana bread. Even though it's corporate its one of my favorite coffee shops in Monterey
A very nice fairly large Pete's Coffee. Shares a large outdoor patio with the neighbors Beer Garden that opens at 12 noon. Trader Joe's is in same center so lots of options.
I've visited Peet's Coffee in Monterey twice, and both times have been a great experience! The mocha is excellent, with high-quality ingredients and just the right amount of sweetness. But what really stood out was the outstanding service - the staff is friendly, helpful, and efficient, making my experience all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with plenty of seating and free Wi-Fi, making it a great place to get some work done. Overall, Peet's Coffee in Monterey is a fantastic spot for coffee lovers. I highly recommend it!
This location made the best iced mocha. Some of the other ones in the Bay Area seemed like they were only adding 1 shot of espresso to a medium.
Great Coffee in cups or travel cups, desserts and and other menu items very, very tasty.
Great coffee. Super tasty pastries. The almond croissant was delish! Great location
Peets always has the best coffee around. The drinks were on point & the staff was friendly as usual. I also picked up a pound of coffee for home and when I brewed the first pot I was hooked on this new Zenith roast
Great Coffee in cups or travel cups, desserts and and other menu items very, very tasty.

I find that the staff can craft drinks better and more consistently delectable than the local competition. I denote a star because the seating lay out is screaming of opportunities to maximize a more welcoming and engaging space. There are many couples' tables perhaps to discourage from college cram sessions and long layover visits from the neighboring bus station. But, the current more socially isolating lay out does stay in a strange junxstaposition to the warm and welcoming baristas. Also, the front layout reinforces this disconnect. The drink line flows to the right but drinks are picked up in the left corner creating a chaotic and jumbled whirlpool of a waiting area. But, their coffee is satisfying which is the most important thing.
Cool little coffee shop with a relaxed vibe. The staff were really friendly, especially with the kids, and had no problem with me using a refillable cup. The highlight was the communal outdoor area- perfect for sitting in the sun and getting some work done while enjoying your coffee. A great spot to take a break or spend a quiet morning.
Great place and service. I love Peet's whole bean and grind coffee. Unfortunately, the Americano that I got at this place was weak.
I tried the Horchata Cold Brew, it was tasty but a tad sweet. Also ordered an Americano, the Americano was delicious very robust in flavor!
Great coffee. Peet's is a favorite. Staff is friendly but not always quick or paying attention. Still worth it.
Reliable coffee joint. Took a while to receive my order. The fella who I gave my order to was very focused on getting me to sign up for their rewards program. Point off for ridiculous parking lot which is shared with Trader Joe’s and Chipotle.
This was my first visit. This place is so nice, spacious, good service, and of course great coffee. It's a good place to meet friends and hang out.
Friendly baristas- made helpful recommendations to other places for meals, etc. Quick service- parking was a bit crowded, and the vagrants were obvious and a little rowdy- saw police trying to move them along.- too bad for this business!! CLEAN store, lots of room inside, and nice displays. Drinks were exactly as we ordered (we're a bit picky!!) A nice 2nd to our local one up north-
I didn't order coffee but I was there between the hours of 3:30 and 9 on a humanitarian level I give the staff two thumbs up for what I witnessed. There were people without homes and they extended common courtesy to all and that's why I'm writing this post. kudos to the staff for being people and treating people the same.
Smaller table choices for folks in groups of more than 3, not a deal breaker for me as I dont hang out in the shops very long but great people and coffee is always amazing.
One of the two restrooms is permanently out of service, which can lead to long wait times. Otherwise a nice, friendly spot. Try the app for rewards and to order ahead to skip the line.
I need to address 3 factors. The productions The management The venue The operator loves theatre. This is not a "for profit" venture. She picks interesting, sometimes obscure scripts, and does all her own casting and directing. All the actors ate unpaid, but most are quite talented. The venue is limited, maybe 32 seats. Quite cramped and sometimes stifling in warm weather. They thoughtfullyprovide little fans on warm evenings. There's usually cookies and water for every production.
The ice teas are very refreshing. I've had the hot chocolate and decided to have another, but this one had a coffee flavor and didn't taste like the same hot chocolate. I wasn't able to drink it. Otherwise Peet's is a great place.
Clean, consistent coffee at every location
The ambiance is great and the idea of the local coffee shop and roaster is fun. However, I love my coffee strong and with low acidity and this isn't the best I've had. I tried the cold brew and the espresso and they were both slightly bitter, in my opinion. However, my wife really enjoys the sweeter drinks and we would come back here.
Great coffee and location downtown. They are often very busy, so I order in advance. Only criticism is that there are too many people “camped out” with laptops, not enough tables to sit and enjoy the brew.
This location looked really cozy. Too bad I didn't have time to stay. Grabbed my Cortado and coffee refill and ran out. Drinks were made quickly. Baristas were not very chatty with customers... They didnt even acknowledge me coming in to grab my order.

Good place for a quick coffee while downtown. Lots of seating and free WiFi if you'll be sticking around for a bit. I feel like their espresso is smoother than Starbucks.

The environment in there is just ok, nothing special. It does need a good cleaning from top to bottom.
Coffee was good. The wifi requires a password unique to each customer, and only lasts an hour. So I lost an email I spent 30 minutes typing. Lame. Come on, is it really that bad to just have open wifi? That was my last visit unless they switch to open wifi.
Nice place in a busy parking lot. The coffee wasn't the best but there's plenty of seating and the service is good
It's a busy place. Convenient that it's right next to the Monterey Transit Plaza, that's actually the main reason I would go to this shop: when waiting for a bus. A bit too crowded and loud for me to be able to work. But the atmosphere inside is somewhat cozy, with a nice aroma of roasted coffee. The staff are not the friendliest bunch. Convenient location if you're waiting for the bus or just went grocery shopping and need a hot cuppa.
This location is conveniently located near the trader joe's however, It is quite apparent that The leadership of this location only has the interest of the frequent patrons or entitled locals who feel its acceptable to treat others as if they are mere obstacles to their goal. The coffee is solid, the staff is solid, but the leadership is completely out of touch with how to handle situations that require immediate involvement from themselves to deliver a quick resolution. The issue arises when the leadership elects to be apathetic until Halfway through a situation and enters with zero information to gain an empathetic perspective. It is further compounded when the leader takes the side of the party who is at fault. Why? He is better dressed, non responsive, or what? It makes no sense. After a career in leadership roles that carried much more weight, I can only opine that this person who has been entrusted with a leadership role at Pete's Coffee is in dire need of retraining or more likely needs to go. Bring in someone younger who has a better grasp of people these days and usually younger folks are more tolerant, empathetic and inclusive. Just saying
Good coffee and the staff is friendly. However, the shop seems to be operating at a “skeleton-crew” level the times I’ve been there. Sometimes you’ll find the location clean and well maintained, other times you’ll have to clean your own table before setting up. Restrooms are MUCH cleaner after Peet’s installed the new lock system. Safety wise? Idk. There are individuals that frequent this location that...well, just don’t leave your valuable items unguarded. (Does not factor in my rating for this location as such individuals are customers 9/10x).
Great place! Have been coming here for years but haven't been in since I moved away. The staff is still nice, helpful, and attentive. What was very detrimental to my experience was the manager actively berating an employee rather than having any kind of management approach to an employee making a minor mistake. It was very hard to watch and made me and the employee uncomfortable in a fairly public setting, to say the least. I give that employee a 5/5 on how she handled that situation. Good on her!
This Peet's reminded me of another chain coffee company that I'm not a fan of. The drinks seemed to be made without much care, and employees seemed annoyed that there were customers present. I expect better from my favorite coffee company! (I even share Alfred Peet's birthday!!)

I was a die hard Peet's fan for years and years until I moved to the east coast several years ago. Now when I return I am appalled at where this once esteemed brand has gone. It's no better than Starbucks, maybe even worse. Their darkly roasted beans take care to eke out a good shot of espresso, and none of the baristas can even steam milk, much less make a quality shot. Their tea is still top quality for a chain. I may have to switch caffeine intake when I am back in the Bay Area....
I am used to Peet's in the Bay Area. Half the time I go to this Peet's my drink is awful, like I have poured them out, or I will order beans and they will hold my drink until the beans are ready and by that time it's cold, even though I am waiting. I only go because it's so convenient and I usually don't have time to wait to get things remade but maybe I need to because otherwise how do they know?
Not a bad place if you can find a seat inside. Outside the smell of transients overwhelms the good coffee. Perhaps it's not really Peet's fault -- the City does a piss-poor job in everything but writing parking tickets. It's time for a new Police Chief and City Manager. David Jacks was correct believing the city a fool.
Original (April 2024):Coffee was perfect ☕ *Update February 2025: Went in and the coffee shop wasn't the cleanest (Floors were dirty and bathroom could be smelled by the front door). Baristas were very condescending and rude. Told me that I was ordering a caramel macchiato when in reality what I ordered is similar but different.( A caramel macchiato has vanilla syrup with caramel drizzle. I wanted a latte with both caramel and vanilla syrup in it. I ended up asking a barista at Starbucks about the difference and googling to make sure.). The barista made me feel dumb over my order and also for not knowing what Pea milk alternative was. Honestly just very rude and also she was actively flirting with the cashier as they took my order. Just overall a bad experience
On this day the owner/Manager was leaving and said to her team have a great day and sell lots of coffee. My daughter was outside the doors not to bring her dog in so we related her order by phone. Every order she asked for the reply was we don't do that and it was off your phone menue. We ended up leaving.. Sorry to say we won't be coming back. We were down for the car show so I hope other people didn't have this problem.
Service wasn't that great compared to others while I was waiting to get my two coffee's an breakfast. One mint matcha was low. One sandwich was burnt an crunchy. Was not satisfied. N I love peet's coffee. Must not be up to par with the rest

My wife placed an online order for me and when she picked up my coffee my surprise only came with the medium sized cup, inside it was less than a small size and a horrible coffee looks like it was made yesterday.
I asked for extra hot coffee specifically. I wasn't hotter than what one would give to a newborn. Do not recommend
Only 1 star because I can not rate lower gave our food to someone else then shoved their hands in the trash pushing it down. Then without washing their hands they proceeded to open more coffee lids and continued serving people without washing hands when called out about it.
I love Peets. I’ve never given a bad review. This shop staff was so rude. I simply asked for milk and a sugar and she just stared at me. I realize there is Covid but she was so rude and so impolite. I’m in Monterey for one week. I’ve been here three times. I’m not coming back. Starbucks is just down the road. Maybe you were having a bad day. But it takes the same effort to be kind as it does to be rude. And the world needs more kindness these days.
Why is the price of the large mocha the same as a pint of beer? Why do you charge 80 cents for oat milk when a half-gallon of oat milk costs the same as regular milk?
They gave our food to the person two orders behind us and while waiting for them to make our replacement, they used their hands to scoop trash off the floor, shove the towering trash down into the trashcan and then promptly opened a new bag of lids for future use. No hand washing between. Meanwhile I carefully take my mask down to sip my coffee and immediately get told to put it back on.
I've been wanting to try Peet's Coffee for some time. Went in this shop today, and we weren't even acknowledged. Three women behind the counter, but not one even bothered to look up. We stood there for several minutes. One came up, messed with the register, then walked off. Truly disappointing customer service. Left without ordering anything.
Service was rude. Asked for a one drink, they were out (happens), Asked for different one, couldn’t do (literally lemonade and tea). Stepped aside so the line wasn’t being held up. Pulled up their online menu as a mobile order to that location and the girl said “I’ve never seen that, that’s not us. I can’t do that.” (literally their location)
I would like to give a zero star rating but it's not allowed. I can't really rate their food or their coffee because we did not get served because we were standing in the wrong spot. While we were standing there, the server behind the register was sharing photos from her phone to another customer. Then another customer arrived and got in the right spot and she rudely told us we were standing in the wrong place. It would have been kind if she had said let me serve these people first as they've been standing here a while, but she did not do that. We took our business up the street..
Service is terrible, the baristas overfill the nasty unmixed drink so it spills everywhere.
I do not recommend going to this place!!!! Customer service is very very bad. The two girls were so rude, not smiling and just tossed my Americano like they didn’t care. I had a feeling they didn’t like the color of my skin. Unfortunate to say that because we live in 2024. Move on guys!!! I hope they get replaced by people who like to work and treat everyone equally. Thank you
I got the almond matcha latte and my drink hardly had any matcha in it. It looked and tasted like straight milk. The baristas were rude when I told them why my drink was less green than another customers. I was just asking but they got standoffish and rude. I’ve gotten the matcha latte from Peet’s before and it has never been like this. Super DISSAPOINTED in both the service and food.
Heard a lot of California Peet's coffee. We were so excited to visit the coffee shop. We were there at 8.30am on Tuesday, June 27th. My husband went to the counter to get his order. He waited for 5 mins. This staff(female, dark hair, black framed glasses- i believe I was told her name was Aries) looked my husband, snubbed him, went to the counter next to him and very rudely said, the line starts here. She then encouraged a group of ladies to put in their order, these ladies were standing behind my husband. Instead of telling those ladies that my husband was there before them, she continued to take their order. We left without ordering and will never go back there again. Gave our business to Starbucks, who were extremely friendly and welcoming. If that staff member was trying to show her feminist side by this act, it's a shame it was wrong message she was sending. Hope someone teaches her how to respect all customers irrespective of their gender.
Worst coffee I've ever had in my LIFE! it was bitter and after 6 packs of sugar, my white mocha STILL was intolerable and I had to throw it away.
Was extremely hungry and weak when I arrived at this city meeting place. Although I have had very good experiences at this shop, a rude emoloyem lacking compassion ripped the sample tray of bread from my hands refusing to allow me to eat. Most coffee shops give away day old bakery items as a Goodwill gesture but this shop pulls away samples from people they do not like I do not think this cruelty is the norm here. The coffee is good and the atmosphere is great. It is a shame one employee can taint the good efforts of the excellent service staff.
This was my first time going to a peet's coffee and let me tell you, I'm buying my daily coffee elsewhere. Me and a friend ordered drinks and sat outside on the patio. After a couple minutes an employee walked outside and I suppose was taking their break, however he kept glancing in our direction. I didn't second guess it as people's eyes wonder or whatever, but his face said it all. He looked annoyed/angry at us. I felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed. His attitude continued and even went as far as taking pictures and filming me and my friend trying to enjoy our drinks while talking. We weren't doing anything out of the ordinary. We're just two 20 year olds trying to enjoy a morning chat. I don't know what his problem was, maybe he was on a power trip or something. Or perhaps he's a goody two shoes, but all I know is I will NOT be visiting this establishment again.
Staff need better training with how to correctly take orders from customer. They don’t understand the word cappuccino and they put wrong name on my order.
I bought a pound of whole bean coffee and accepted the offer of a free coffee. I chose a small cup of a medium blend. Before getting into my car, I placed the cup of coffee on the dash and, once seated, I picked up the cup and scalding coffee spilled all over my hand. Turns out the lid did not fit the cup. I went inside Peet's store asking for help, and the person at checkout who gave me the coffee put a burn gel on my hand, which I rubbed all over, before returning to checkout. When I returned to my car, my hand was painful, and another customer told me to run cold water over it. I when back inside the store and asked for the code to the bathroom, and the same woman ran up to me with a cup of ice and told me to keep holding the ice in my hand. No one who worked there stepped up to help me. I guess I was just a crazy old lady walking around the store holding her hand up asking for help. When I asked for a towel for my car, I was directed to small napkins placed on the counter. All I got was a "Sorry 'bout that". After arriving home, my hand continued to become inflamed with 2nd degree burns. I don't think it is too much to expect someone on the staff at Peet's Coffee to have at least shown concern and taken time to help me.
