Opinions de Black Cow Cafe Montrose
Outdoor seating! Welcome back! Yummy dishes! My favorite is the burger and their special fries with fresh jalapeno. It was so nice to eat outside on such a beautiful day in Montrose. After you have a meal at the Black Cow Cafe you're going to need to walk around and see the quaint small businesses and do some shopping. The staff is the best and ultra polite and they never rush you or throw the check down after your last bite. That's what I love the best about this place.
Very charming brunch location. We had a party of 5, no wait. I had a matcha latte and blueberry waffles. Both were very good. But the latte was especially yummy!
The food tasted amazing! And the cafe is very cute the only downside was the waiter forgot my mom's latte and we had to remind her but otherwise the service was good. I would definitely come back here if I am in the area and would recommend this place to anyone.
If you’re looking for a spot that feels like home but with way better food, you have to check out this place. I went there recently and the vibe is just so cool and cozy. It’s got this rustic-chic thing going on with fun cow-themed decor everywhere that makes it feel really unique and local. I tried the chicken pot pie because everyone says it's legendary, and honestly, it totally lived up to the hype—it was the ultimate comfort food with a perfect flaky crust. Their breakfast is also killer; the brioche French toast is a game-changer if you have a sweet tooth. The staff were super friendly and didn't make us feel rushed at all, even though the place was buzzing. Whether you're grabbing a coffee and a sandwich or sitting down for a big weekend brunch, it just feels like the heart of the neighborhood.
As you may have guessed by looking at all the previous reviews, this place scores well. Just like their food, which basically makes this place - along with the service and the vibes, it’s pretty damn awesome. My Kobe Cheeseburger was beyond full of flavor and the Skirt Steak Salad, undeniably intense and delicious. We came here before going to Descanso, and even though it was 90 minute drive from Corona on a Saturday night, the food and company was absolutely worth the trip. I can’t wait to go back and you should look forward to going as well.
Friendly staff and great service! The food gets better all the time. Had the jasmine rice/salmon bowl and the bread rolls which were amazing. The staff is so kind and friendly even at closing time … we were there late.
My SIL and I went yesterday for lunch, about noon. We got a 4-top table inside and both ordered the cheeseburgers, medium. My SIL also added crispy bacon. The burgers were messy but good, with a great char flavor. The patty wasn't super thin and broke apart easily which is what a great burger should do. The fries were nicely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and fast with drinks refills and extra napkins. Like I said, messy but good. The bill for the two of us was just under $49 and the meal was worth the price. Worlds above a fast food burger.
I loved this place. The fish and chips were really good and that tarter sauce was amazing and I dont like starter sauce normally. The service was friendly and perfect. I will definitely be back next time I'm in California.
I love spending time in the Montrose area, and it just wouldn’t be the same without a stop at Black Cow for breakfast. I’ve been coming here for well over 10 years, and I can’t believe I never left a review sooner. The service is always consistently great, and while the food can vary a bit from visit to visit, their homemade jam (at least it used to be homemade!) has always been unforgettable. There’s always a wait—truly always—but it usually moves quickly. I’ve never seen this place anything but packed. This time, I ordered the corned beef hash and it was delicious. We also tried the skirt steak salad, which was also really good. Everyone at the table was happy with their food. Of course we’ll keep coming back—this place is part of the Montrose experience. Must try if you’re around! Especially to check out their ceiling fan, I love the decorations!I’m
I had a bowl of French Onion Soup that was delicious! It was put together rather strangely, with the melted cheese under the croutons but it didn’t bother me all that much. Strangely it came with a slice of banana nut bread instead of a piece of a baguette or something you would expect. I also got a side of fries, and they were good and plentiful. They were the textured frozen fries that many restaurants use these days. My wife had the Asian Chicken Salad and she liked it a lot. She liked it so much that she barely let me get a single bite of it. Our waitress was truly terrific and made our visit to The Black Cow a really enjoyable experience. There’s ample free parking in a huge lot behind the restaurant.
Outdoor dining. Staff was very pleasant and service was great! First of, the sangria is amazing, super refreshing! Absolutely delicious food. We ordered the rack of ribs, dynamite shrimp and a kids cheeseburger. Ribs were perfect char, shrimp had the perfect crisp and sauce and the cheeseburger tasted like it came right out of the barbecue! Really good!

Cute place! Family owned. Nice decoration and atmosphere. Prices are good. Portions are huge. Love it. The salad was super delicious. The meat didn’t have a lot of flavor and it was black. Too burned. Staff is super friendly! They have free parking in the back. Their zucchini bread is out of the charts! Soooo good!!!
Pros, service is good and I really loved the food; i got the shrimp bowl with jasmine rice and it was well prepared, perfectly seasoned and presented. Cons, a bit pricey and noisy. Also, no alcoholic beverages. Overall I loved the meal and did have enough for leftovers.
Their southern breakfast skillet and iced coffee with sweet foam is immaculate! This place gets really busy on weekends but the lines usually move quickly. I took off a point because, while Black Cow is one of my absolute favorite breakfast spots, their lunch is just okay. Get there before 11 AM!
BLUF: great coffee and fresh juice selection, OK food. There is work to be done on visual appeal of the dishes Tried this for brunch. Coffee was delicious, and pairing that with a small Nutella crepe made my morning. Avocado toast was maybe a 2/5! Like I always say, you can tell a good restaurant by their avocado toast. Chilaquiles was also 3/5, compared to what you get in Mexico City. Portions are huge and reminded me of diners, not necessarily a good thing. Interior is welcoming and staff were friendly and service was prompt. I recommend this for a afternoon tea
We had brunch, lox n bagel and eggs, sausage and potatoes. The food was great, our waitress was very busy and, while she was kind and friendly, we waited for a while to get refills on drinks, extra condiments, etc, and also for the final check. It’s Saturday, and seems like prime time to have lunch/brunch. There is easy parking in the rear of the restaurant and street parking in front. Restrooms were clean and fully stocked. The restaurant is a great place for breakfast or lunch, just be prepared to be patient in a crowded space.

While to food was good, the initial service was a mess. No one person at a hostess station or clearly designated to take names. It's definitely catered to regulars, you don't greet and almost take a regulars name down before the people you have in line. While it was quickly rectified it definitely did not impress. Our server on the other hand was like speedy but not in a bad way. We were hungry and ready to order by the time drinks came. Variety of food came rather quickly and had great flavor portions were a little big but we managed.
I've been eating here for something like 30 years, going back to the days when we lived in the neighborhood. Totally different menu now, and the place was half -empty on a Tuesday night. Butternut …
We had just ordered our food and it came too quickly out of the kitchen, my meal was barely warm. I ordered fried chicken. The server greeted us very cheerfully, but never came back to our table,…
I'm very disappointed to say the least, as a neighboring business I have tried to support this restaurant but this is the third time i've encountered bad quality. I contacted the restaurant letting them know that the huevos rancheros they packed to go had basically cold tortillas missing egg and tossed in the same container with fruit. As a latin person who is not Mexican I know you wouldn't call this dish huevos rancheros. But the most sad part about this was me calling after I had been there to pick up In person being left on hold for 10 minutes and being told there's nothing they can do and that this is the way that the food is prepared that it's not your regular Mexican dish. Please don't make huevos rancheros If they aren't the proper way.
