Opinions de Blue Fish Sushi Montrose
Very good. Always positive vibe. Service is great. If you're waiting a bit for food they give a complimentary little dish. Always busy and moving. Been there about 7 times, great everytime. HUGE rolls! They don't short on the meat. Sashimi salad is my fav!
DELICIOUS!! The fish is very fresh and amazing. A great selection of rolls, sushi, and sashimi. Prices are fair, not cheap, but not too expensive either. Staff was friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely be going back!
Always great service an the food is amazing
Our absolute go-to spot, no matter the day or time. The quality-to-price ratio and speedy service are on point. Been a regular, enjoying their food twice a week for a year now, and no plans of switching it up!
Delicious food! It was busy when we got there but we got seated almost immediately. Service is very quick and efficient. Really good waiting staff. And yes, the food was phenomenal. We tried a variety of items and everything was delicious. I Wholeheartedly recommend this place.
They have the best fresh sushi! We ordered so much for the two of us. We sat and caught up not having seen each other for about a year. They never made us feel like we needed to leave. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly people. Exceptional prices!
Nothing less than 5 stars! From the moment you walk into the door you are greeted and seated! Ambience is splendid and service is 10/10. I was introduced to Blue Fish on my 28th birthday and I have been hooked on the Shat Love dish. Great place for family, friends or by yourself. If you get lucky, you maybe offered sample dish on the house ;-) Glad this place is in the neighborhood!
The food is excellent, and it's evident that the chef pours their heart and passion into each dish. The restaurant itself is delightful. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the management's organization in handling seating and managing guests.
Friend and I took a break from moving to sit outside with the dog. It was a beautiful foggy evening so I got the udon and a few sushi and it was the perfect weather and food combo. Both my and my friends soups came out piping hot which let you sit back a second to savor them and the presentation. Their little outdoor patio area is well maintained, and the sushi just melted in the mouth. I'll be back, mark my words.
Great food, highly recommended, my favorite sushi roll was the yellow fever, service was excellent, price was fare
One of my favorite go to sushi restaurants!!! It is a home away from home and best rolls ever!! They might be busy but also they are very attentive and are always there to bring another order of Saki ! Very yummy rolls and sooo many to chose!
This is a solid sushi place. We have been here twice in the past month or so even though there are a ton of options in the area. This place is great though. We sat at the sushi bar. It was really fun to watch them put together the sushi rolls. Everything is beautiful, and tastes fantastic.
Absolutely delicious. Their creations are worth every penny, they even have good baked or tempura options if you're trying to start your friends on sushi or your wife is pregnant. Whenever you enter all the staff shout a greeting in Japanese welcoming you.
Shoutout to David at Blue Fish Sushi — absolutely top-tier service. Professional, hardworking, and on point from start to finish. His recommendations were fire (every single one hit), drinks were always perfect, and the timing was flawless even when things got busy. David clearly knows his stuff and genuinely cares about giving you a great experience. This is the kind of service that makes you want to come back. If you’re dining here, ask for David — he’ll take care of you.
There are seating area both indoor & outdoor. So nice sitting outside in a beautiful weather. The Service: Hannah was taking care of our table. Super friendly & efficient. Her smile definitely brighten our day. She is very attentive and always checking on every table if customers need something. Excellent customer service!! The Food: When we dine with the kids and they couldn't really eat raw fish. We always look for options on the menu that they can eat. Here... tons of options! We like it. Under entree, we ordered chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, bulgogi and assorted tempura. They are plated like a bento box, there are also salad, rice and miso soup. Definitely a great meal with good price! Seafood Yakisoba is one of our favorite noodles dishes. Huge portion! Perfect to share. Lots of seafood and the noodles has great texture. We also tried their two new rolls, Princess Roll (no rice) & Raging Crab Roll. They are both plated beautifully. Princess Roll has no rice so if you are cutting down your carbs, you got to try this roll. There are so many good stuffs in Raging Crab Roll, crab meat, crab stick, shrimp tempura & etc. The Parking: Large parking lot at the back of the restaurant and across the street too. Free!
Blue Fish Japanese Sushi – Where the Mountains Meet the Roll Montrose feels like a town time forgot - in the best way. Tucked beneath the shadow of the Verdugo Mountains, the main strip holds onto something rare: a rhythm that hasn’t been rushed. There’s a sense of place here. A walk down Honolulu Avenue is part small-town Americana, part hidden food haven. And in the middle of it all sits Blue Fish Japanese Sushi - a spot that doesn’t scream for your attention but earns it bite by bite. Start with the spicy tuna on crispy rice. No frills, no flash - just flavor done right. The edamame is fresh, the vegetable tempura hits that perfect light crunch, and the rolls? However you choose to roll, they’ll deliver. There’s a seasonality to the experience here - not in the menu, but in the way it makes you feel. A quiet kind of comfort, a reminder that good food doesn’t always need a spotlight. Sometimes, it just needs a seat at the sushi bar and a view of the mountains. Bluefish is a must - not just in Montrose, but for anyone chasing the soul of a place through its food.
I was so delighted to find an excellent sushi restaurant in the midst of the historic Montrose Shopping Park. I had a tasty tempura shrimp roll before the teriyaki salmon entrée. They have the best miso soup in town. It was nice to be able to enjoy my meal sitting outside at the parklet tables on a beautiful day.
We had an nice relaxed lunch at blue fish yesterday and enjoyed everything we ordered. We missed the lunch time rush and we treated with fast and welcoming service as well as some good recommendations from our waitress. All the sushi tasted fresh and had good flavor and the rolls we selected we great. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good local sushi restaurante with friendly staff. We will surely be back next time we are in the mood for a good meal.
Discovered this place by accident and was so glad we did. Great quality sushi. They were super busy when we got there but still had good service. Would recommend.
Kind gesture at the end with free orange sticks. See photo. Nice atmosphere and professional chefs. I recommend the Red Mountain and the Johnny Roll. Most orders have a delicious sauce on them. Nicely priced for high-quality sushi.
Stopped here for dinner while traveling and had a pleasant experience. Portions are very generous, definitely get your moneys worth. Staff is attentive and efficient. Would recommend!
The staff was very polite and helpful. We had 3 rolls and all of them were well made and delicious. Would be happy to go back again.
The portion sizes are large. You definitely get your money's worth with whatever you order. The ambiance has a nice fusion of culture blended with hints of a modern touch. The food...? That was beyond superb and the presentation was carefully crafted per order.
In Montrose, this is the one Sushi parlor that works with whatever mood you're in. Whether it's traditional sashimi or rolls, or specialties subcategorized as fried tempura or baked rolls, they're all fresh & well-balanced in flavor. They also have an eclectic menu of beers. I like their Anush Roll, Dragon Roll and Red Mountain Roll. Tonight I tried their Jalapeno Yellowtail and loved how they accented the sliced jalapenos with Sriracha. They even nestled a yellow carnation within the greens!

My dad’s go-to place for sushi 🍣 Blue Fish is located on Honolulu Ave with plenty of parking in the back. There’s usually just a short wait—only a few minutes—and it’s absolutely worth it. The restaurant is very clean with a comfortable, enjoyable ambiance. You can sit inside or outside, both are great options. The service is excellent. Unlike many places, the staff doesn’t interrupt with unnecessary questions while you’re trying to enjoy your meal, which I really appreciate. Good sushi isn’t cheap anywhere, and Blue Fish is no exception—but the quality matches the price. I highly recommend the Anoosh Roll—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly crunchy.
We are so glad to find this location. Food is so fresh and delicious. The staff and chef so kind and professional. I really like the fact that they have a few options for vegans on menu. You can order food with tofu and veggies. It's not only limited to veggie sushi. I really love the place. Its out new go to sushi place.
I love eating here so much! Was just there with one of my close friends 30 minutes to closing. Despite our offers on getting takeout they insisted we could stay 30 minutes past closing, and were so so kind! Love the service. Also, the food is pretty cheap but quality stays amazing! Such yummy food. This is my friend groups top choice for easy and yummy sushi :).
The best Sashimi and Sushi ever!!! Fried calamari was crispy and super delicious, too. Chefs and staffs were wonderfully kind and generous. We will definitely come back to Blue Fish soon. Thank you for making our day!

We stopped here just for a few minutes and took a seat at the bar to get couple sushi and go home, but as a result, we waited more than 20 minutes. They brought us a check, and we paid, but no one even started our order. The sushi were good, but service needs improvement.
A nice place, well lit, cozy while not feeling cramped. Not very energetic baby/kid friendly but not impossible. Food was good. Brought out apparently slow on the night I visited because we were offered a complimentary small fishy salad thing before it arrived.
Cool place to hang out in Montrose and have some good sushi. The beer is cold and the edamame is hot (if you prefer). Very popular restaurant with the cool kids; always lively.
The food and presentation was amazing. Dined outside, the tables were a bit too close for my comfort. $4 for a single serving of iced tea is a bit outrageous, I'll definitely suggest bringing your own water bottle if you want to dine outside. Huge plus that they still serve alcohol.
Solid sushi spot. Nigiri is tasty, and the speciality rolls are nice. We also ordered the salmon teriyaki; it was solid but not amazing. Gyoza was crispy and tasty. Miso and salad were standard Japanese fare. Staff was above average, but not a stand out team. Outdoor dining/patio! Dog friendly. They do have a electronic check in; it was a little clunky; had to enter your full name and number, but the screen was not too responsive, so it took a while. And in a COVID world, I would prefer not to tap a screen that everyone else did. Overall, pretty good! $100 had two of us quite content, and maybe a bit stuffed!
I've been here countless times. It is a bit more on the expensive side, but the portions are generous (their cuts of sashimi and sushi are above average) and the food is good. There's nothing else in the area like this. $7.25+ for nigiri, and average rolls are around $17+. Two people without drinks comes easily to $100. The service is good, the restaurant is clean and the seating is acceptable. We came during an empty lunch hour during the weekday, around noon, with maybe 3 couples in the whole restaurant. And the waitress decided to seat a couple RIGHT NEXT TO US. I thought that was odd. There were 6 empty tables, spread em out!

The food was okay. I ordered sashimi - the fish was good quality but the slicing technique was uneven medium to fat slices. I was a bit miffed - I requested miso soup without green onions. The server stated the onions are part of the mix. When the miso soup arrived, fresh green onions were sprinkled on the soup. I picked each piece of onion out of the miso soup.
The food is delicious it if you’re thinking of asking for separate checks, forget it. They leave their customers to pull out they calculators and try and figure it out themselves
I recently visited Blue Fish in Montrose and was disappointed overall. The prices were definitely on the higher side, and the food, while nicely presented, was just mediocre in taste. On top of that, the service was lacking. The server had trouble communicating in English, which made the experience less enjoyable. Overall, not worth the price for what we got.

Their New "patio service" bites! It's take out with a table. We received NO utensils, no refills and everything was in take out containers with a spilling over trash can cause they only have one out there. but they gave us the stink eye for a $3 tip! They didn't even deserve that! A tip for WHAT making my food !? Anyways, won't be back. Food was good but service was the worst! I gave them 2 stars for the good food!
Food quality isn’t good, the chicken was rubbery, some parts came with cartilages. The staff were friendly.
Been coming here for YEARS... My only problem and it's a big one, is that now, the sushi bar itself has turned into a "work bench" for the service staff. There is "stuff" all over the counter, taking up the bar area, leaving very few places to sit. If you are seated in the wrong spot at the bar, expect the staff to be reaching over you to grab food from the chefs for other tables. Love the staff and the food, but management needs to address this... if not, our love affair may be over. UPDATE: Stopped by twice and the sushi bar is STILL being used as a staff workbench, stuff cluttering the counter. The sushi bar has limited seating because of this. The bar used to be fun, usually packed with a lively crowd. Now I feel like I'm in the way when I sit there. Give the bar back to the patrons and figure out a better service routine... Adios Amigos.

My only conclusion when I see the reviews of this restaurant is that people rating them have probably never eaten good sushi in their lives. The food is horrible. Sushi smells super fishy. Seaweed here is like rubber (no crispy freshness at all)…and did I mention their prices per sushi are more expensive than any of the top tier sushi restaurants in LA like Katsu-Ya. They don’t even have any fish options outside the basic salmon, tuna, albacore. Where is the hirami, where is the amber jack, why is the jumbo scallop not jumbo scallop (why does it taste and look like frozen mini scallop). Staff is not knowledgeable about their menu. They don’t accommodate to requests, and their response to most questions were “I don’t think we have that”. Never will return. Not even if my meal was free. Sorry this is not Japanese food. This is a Korean attempt at making sushi.
I don’t usually leave reviews but, our experience here was not good and worth the hassle of leaving a review. It took us 45 minutes to get our food. When we finally got our food, they didn’t even apologize or offer an explanation, and it was just ok sushi. Expensive for just so-so sushi and poor service. Won’t be coming back there.
We usually go to Sake Sushi across the street! I knew I should’ve never tooken the chance to eat here! Fish is rotten, quality and service suck! They brought out the wrong order and they didn’t even want to remove it off the check! Disgusting management! They would rather lose a very valuable customer but gain that extra fifteen bucks for a roll. I will never even think about eating here ever again!
I had place an order over the phone and when I got there they told me it wasn’t ready and that I had to wait like 10 minutes for it and it ended up taking 25 minutes . I had place an order in advance so I can enjoy my food for my lunch break . that obviously wasn’t the case because me having to wait and kill almost my entire lunch break completely ruined the entire meal
I’ve heard this place of being a sushi hotspot where customers travel far and wide to eat here. However, when I visited I was highly disappointed. Overpriced and understaffed. For all the profit they receive one waitress and one busboy for 10-12 tables is unrealistic and unfair to the employee. I waited 20 min to be seated with my friend even though there were 3-4 vacant tables outside. For other parties they were seated in 1 min. Then, I was given an attitude that I didn’t want to sit at a the table outside right next to the door where there was high foot traffic during COVID season. Then, 2 other parties that came after us were attended first and served 6 different plates of food immediately when I had ordered before them a soup and 1 plate of sushi, super simple. It was after work and I was very hungry and had patiently waited for my food for 30 min when the other customers who came much later than me were fed in 5-10 min. I was left confused and perplexed. They could have at least brought out our drinks and miso soup for starters. But they didn’t think of that. I had to go up to the waitress and remind her a few times about my food. Apparently, they had burned my food supposedly. If that was genuinely the case, they should have redone it before preparing other tables with plates and plates of food. Then, I asked that same waitress to give me some sort of discount b/c they didn’t even offer any free appetizer or discount for their error. At the end, I persisted and asked for a little discount b/c she didn’t want to give it. She actually huffed and puffed and slammed my card aggressively in front of me. Mind you I was talking very calmly, politely and patiently. She proceeded to pull out a “Karen” scene. Her behavior was very hostile, inappropriate, and unprofessional. I felt very mistreated and upset. This place abuses and mistreats customers. The food is same as other sushi places just overpriced with terrible service and with an aggressive / violent waitress. Steer clear.
Ordered a bunch of sushi and just wanted one plain roll with just salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and cucumber. They have multiple rolls with this as the base but I just wanted something simple. When i asked where the last roll was, the server said they wouldn't make one. Didn't bother to tell me when I ordered. So I asked for a menu to order something else. Then the manager comes out to tell me the kitchen is closed. Keep your awful servers. I'll go elsewhere.
