Great family night here for a birthday. Service was excellent and atmosphere super friendly and welcoming. Food was all great and drinks made to perfection. Would recommend coming here for relaxed food and drinks.

Great Australian theme gives an amazing atmosphere! I ordered the Katsu Chicken Curry which was £24 but delicious! It came with pickled vegetables, coconut rice and pita bread. For dessert I had the Belgian chocolate brownie which was a very good size and was also delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I jumped at the chance when i saw this place. And woaw. Wine lists galore. Outstanding australian foods. Especially the josper grill. The theme of the restaurant made me feel like i was at my uncles in western australia. A must visit place. One of the best burgers ive had all year. When my family are home from Australia in august ill be taking them here thats for sure. This place oozes class. And very good dining here. I would book in advance though. Great place to take family aswell. Theyre menu is huge. Its not often im silenced.. PLEASE VISIT

Staff were brilliant. Food was amazing. Safe and comfortable. Food all fresh made. Steak santa fe wrap was beautiful. Jalepeno sauce was out of this world. Bacon in burgers were heavenly. Would give it more than five stars if I could.

Love it, been going for years, must be getting close to 20 years by now. Deep fried mozzarella and a monster bob burger! Highly recommended, great food, staff and atmosphere.

Excellent food and great service. Would definitely recommend booking a table here. The facilities are excellently clean and the venue is very covid safe. I would recommend if you can have yourself a cheeky cocktail they are delicious!

Great eatery when you are far from home in Scotland

The onion blossom was so good I wish I'd gone for the "dirty" version. I usually go for the most adventurous burger in restaurants but decided to go for the standard burger. The meat was incredible and the roo sauce was so good it didn't need anything else. A very good meal 10/10.

Great food for meat lovers! We arrived at 4.30pm on a Saturday and were lucky to get a table as there were quite a few reservations. The food and service were both good, plus our kids loved their meal too. Will be back.

1st time coming tonRoo's Leap, and it certainly won't be the last. The food was delicious, and there was loads of it. I had the Aussie burger which had a sunny side egg, bacon, cheese, pineapple salsa and some beetroot and the bf had a cheese burger with chilli added to it. We also got a mac and cheese side. Both burgers were served with skin on fries. Staff were very friendly and the decor is lovely. They have a good range of drinks too. I had the cocktail of the month, which was a Lady Marmalade. 10/10 for everything.

Needed somewhere to eat during a brief stopover in Montrose and were delighted with the food, service & location of Roo's Leap - parking was a bonus as well. Happy to recommend.

I always love discovering places like this, an Australian restaurant in the oddest of places - tucked away next to a golf course in a small town in Scotland. Walking in you’re greeted with these strange illuminated posters of what I assume are representations of Australia? One is just a picture of a big rock! That quirk aside, I ordered the buffalo wings and the cheeseburger, and both were fantastic. The buffalo wings were probably the best I’ve had on Scotland, and the service was top notch as well, will definitely be back!

Unreal food! Mr Piggy Burger with fries and a side of Macaroni Cheese. Annoyed I couldn't finish it because it was so damn good. Loads of unique flavours made for the best burger and mac n cheese I've ever had. The good lady said the same.

Had a great lunch and with good beer n cocktails, fantastic, city quality restaurant - will definitely return. 👍 We were off work for a week and stopped in here for a lunch and drinks. We ordered a few different starters to share, they were quality. The service was great and the staff were quick to get us another drink when we ran out. Cant fault it - had a great lunch.

This place is actually brilliant. We were tourists visiting from south England and had a fantastic evening here. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, great cocktails and amazing food- huge portions and surprisingly high quality! Very highly recommended.

Great Sunday lunch, fast friendly service, plenty to choose from and amazing food & drinks

One of our go to places when we lived in Montrose. Decided to visit again for a family lunch meetup and it didn't disappoint. My fave satay chicken was still very good, and everyone else enjoyed their food too.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and although initially quiet it filled up fast so I’d recommend being early or booking. Located upstairs it’s a lovely restaurant to walk into and were greeted promptly. Service from the moment we arrived was perfect with prompt but not pushy service. Menus have something for everyone and they clearly take all dietary restrictions seriously as have menus offering choices for them all. You won’t struggle to find something delicious to eat here. We started with nachos and mozzarella sticks to start and were delicious. Be warned the nachos various salsas can be a bit fiery but my other half loved that. We had a chicken burger and their own signature burger and both were delicious. Good portions sizes and were both stuffed by the end. Delicious food, immaculately clean restaurant and great service throughout.

Great restaurant. Randomly came across roos leap when passing through and so glad we did. Great food/lots of choice. Great quality. Fab, friendly serving staff. Disappointed by lack of disabled access however. I struggle with stairs and would always use the lift. I was not aware of this on booking.

Efficient and friendly service, very clean restaurant. Interesting menu with generous portions. I chose badly and didn’t much like my meal (a steak wrap, but with crunchy taco bits). Nothing wrong with it, just not what I personally like eating. Next time I will try something different.

Maybe it was just an off day, but my burger was cooked to a cinder on the outside yet perfect in the middle. It tasted like it had been bathed in beef dripping along with the chips. I just don't think a jasper grill is a good thing. Never have, never will. Its too hot. The staff are brilliant and so very caring but for me, the food just didn't live up to the expectation.

I've been to Roo's Leap several times as I'm a resident of Montrose. As a vegan, every time I have been I've felt it is quite overpriced and the quality of my food has been poor compared to the meat eaters I am dining with, but today really confirmed it. I went for lunch with my partner and we ordered two mains; he ordered some kind of buffalo chicken burger/sandwich and I ordered the bean burger. We waited around 40 minutes for it to arrive and when it did, my bean burger was inedible. It was completely dry and solid on the outside yet seemed undercooked on the inside. I don't actually know why it was served as you could see just from looking at it that it was a mess. It didn't help that my burger bun had a big chunk missing out of it! I didn't eat it and explained why and it was thankfully taken off our bill without us having to ask. In fairness, the young FOH staff are excellent. They are friendly and attentive and really top notch. Unfortunately this won't be enough to encourage us back. For the frankly ridiculous prices charged (and that's not even considering the crazy cost of a glass of wine), I don't expect to be served something below standard just because I don't eat meat. I'll be sticking to The Traill Pavilion for vegan lunches and, as for dinner, it'll pub grub from here on out (cheap, fast and you know what to expect).

The staff are friendly, attentive and professional. If I could rate the service separately I'd give it 5*. The food is okay but leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, we had the Awesome Onion Blossom which was fantastic. I'd recommend it to anyone. For mains, we had the Truffle Deluxe Burger. It was tasty but very greasy as well. The chips on my plate were soaking in grease. The hanger steak wasn't cooked the way it should've been and the cut wasn't good either. We drove for almost an hour to try this place and we were hoping for better food. The owner / manager doesn't seem nice after us leaving them a review on OpenTable. He doesn't seem to be willing to accept criticism and keeps emailing us with cheeky comments. We will not be back.
