Opinions de Dana Street Roasting Company Mountain View
I always take Soya latte and extra hot at Starbucks. So I asked same here too, however the person at counter suggested to try oat milk, he told that extra hot doesn’t go well with Soya but with oat milk. He was very right , I never tried this. It was awesome 👍Now my preference will be always oat milk over Soya milk🙂 I have lactose intolerance.
Staff is always friendly. This coffee shop has been the best coffee shop downtown, for many years! My favorite coffee shop that has Thai coffee on the menu. Love it!... However, there is one employee that can NEVER make the drink correctly. She could redo it and still, it comes out like water...💁🏻♀️
I think Dana Street roasting company is my favorite coffee shop in all of Mountain View. Sure, I've had better coffee out of town, but when I'm not traveling, this is where I go for my caffeine addiction. Coffee here is tasty and reasonably priced. I would argue that the place has great ambience. It feels local, no frills, and down to earth, unlike those fancy, carefully decorated but overpriced cafes in the bay area.
DSRC is my favorite coffee place in Mountain View. Espresso drinks are good. The coffee is very good. The people are great. We make a special trip every weekend to grab some coffee there. It's great supporting local small businesses and like the sign says friends don't let friend drink Starbucks.
this is one of the few original coffee houses that existed before the invasion of. McStarbucks. super causal, great coffee, stuff to eat. I prefer places like this over chain places any time.
Overall it's a nice place. I don't really like their decor and not sure what I actually like about the place, but I keep coming and love spending my time inside on a weekend morning. – Nice and cheap coffee – Nice house blend coffee! Less bitter than RedRock and not as expensive – It's a nice place to meet or work – On weekend evenings you can expect live music from a local band
This is a surprising find. It's a little unclear how I've overlooked this place after visiting mountain view so many times. Items reasonably priced and stuff was served as fast as I would expect it. Live music was a nice touch and really seems like this almost doesn't belong in mountain view. Some of the lattes they have on their menu were surprising and delicious. I absolutely love the banana mocha. I'll definitely be back again anytime I'm jonesing for some caffeine near Castro
Excellent coffee - so much variety! The "really small" 8 oz option is welcome as it let's you try out all the options. Tasty sandwiches and salads to boot. Friendly ambience with plenty of seating inside and out. Cash only. Highly recommend!
Been going to Dana Street Roasting for longer than I care to remember. The coffee here is far superior to other coffee shops almost anywhere. These guys have control over the freshness of the beans since they roast it here them themselves. (The most common issue with coffee roasting in My opinion is not knowing when to stop the roasting process and ending in an over-roasted bean. This makes the coffee acidic and burned flavored.) (Think Starbucks and Pete's although they have been getting better) Here the beans are roasted to perfection resulting in a great cup of Coffee / Espresso. Also this is not some corporate store. It is locally owned and managed by the owner. That by far is much better than any of the commercial coffee's available. Love the sign; "Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks" :)
This is my absolute favorite coffee place in the area! They are always so nice and accommodating: from needing only half my beans ground to fixing my drinks when I forget to ask for half sweet (yes, I'm a bit high maintenance, I know), these guys are always great! Their espresso is amazing and the peanut butter cookies are to die for 🤩
Best coffee shop on Castro St and around the area in general! The nicest staff ever! So friendly and inviting always. They all make amazing drinks so you can never go wrong with anyone working there making your drink. Service is great, they have always been sweet and efficient.
The lattes were great, enjoyed the flavor and texture of the drink. My partner doesn’t enjoy “burnt” tasting roasts; however she really enjoyed the single shot latte and liked the roast.
This place somehow continues to be a hidden gem, still yet to be discovered by many. I lived in the bay area for 9 years and sadly, only discovered this in the last 3 or so by word of mouth. I'm doing you a favor by doing the same ;) I relocated to the Tahoe area 2 years ago and still make it a point to drop in for a chai or latte or cafe borgia. I even purchase the espresso beans from time to time to make it at home in Tahoe. Chai is authentic, steeped in the usual spices for hours with just a hint of honey. Because of this, it's spice forward and DELICIOUS. Their espresso drinks are phenomenal and I'm picky.
This is the best coffee on Castro street. The coffee is not bitter and has interesting flavors. The latte has perfect texture, foamy but not over streamed. It's clear the baristas are skilled here. Other places have automatic machines that give out mediocre coffee. It's also cheaper than other coffee places on Castro street at the same time. Highly recommended to get coffee here over other places.
I regularly buy beans and coffees here, they have a great selection of lighter roasts. My favorite coffee is Irish Cream Latte and is the only coffee drink I'll have that has anything but coffee and milk in it. It has just the right amount of sweetness to intensify coffee taste (and I never drink sweet coffees!). That being said, I've tried every item on the menu and they are all good, this is just the one that's best fit for me. The staff is very friendly and they always have great music playing.
Cozy place, they've got good drinks and plenty of spots to sit in. Baristas were friendly. Prices are good. One of my favorite coffee stops in Castro. Update from a year ago: they recently added some basic fresh pastries that go well with the coffee.
Best coffee in town. Great and friendly staff, chill atmosphere, and good selection of drinks and little treats to eat. Note that they don't have indoor seating since COVID started, only a few tables and seats outside. The Mexican Mocha is top tier, but you can't really go wrong with any of their drinks.
Amazing place to get coffee. Whether its the standard drip coffee or something a little more colorful such as the Mexican mocha, you wont be disappointed. The atmosphere is very relaxed and different from the high strung feeling on gets when going to your local Starbucks. Prices are very reasonable and the available pastries and such are great too!
Taking time to update this review with more detail... This is our favorite coffee spot ever (worldwide), especially for that perfect latte. The owner knows and cares about roasting to perfection - enjoy the shots or take the beans home! The staff is friendly and welcoming, even with the difficulties COVID poses. Support this awesome local business and enjoy the brew!
The service isn't super fast and the coffee isn't quite as good as 1oz a couple blocks away but my friends and I much prefer Dana Street for the atmosphere here. There's lots of comfy seating, the owner is typically serving, the baristas are deliciously weird and there's a massive coffee roaster in the corner which makes it feel legit.
Very cute little coffee shop, I love that everything is done local. Reasonable prices and excellent quality, and wonderful staff. I always stop by here when I can.
If I am in the area, I have to get their coffee. I have tried the Brasil roast which was great and now trying the House blend. You get a free cup of coffee with a pound of beans purchased.
Dana Street Roasting is by far the best coffee roaster in the South Bay. If you buy beans with a "roasted on" date, this is the definitive place to buy freshly roasted beans. They custom pack so you don't have to buy prepackaged sizes. You can custom mix if you like (I do a half caffeine mix so I can enjoy doppio with a single shot caffeine hit). They have an excellent selection of beans, the roasts are not burned (even dark roasts), prices are very competitive, and the roaster is right there for you to see. Best I have experienced in the entire Bay Area. Highly recommended.
Those guys deserve 5 stars! Latte has a great mild taste, not burnt or bitter at all. They use medium roast for their expresso. The gent at the register, barista, and the owner are all lovely people. After Australia I cannot drink coffee in most USA shops since coffee in most places is horrible. Thankfully I found this place.
Great staff cheapest house roasted beans in the moutian view area they will grind any way you ask! Very high quality definitely recommend. Offered pastries, hot and cold drinks, great atmosphere! And you get a free cup of coffee with a 1lb bag purchase!
Fantastic little cafe near busy Castro street. Very helpful and friendly staff. Have a tasty caffeinated beverage without the hustle n bustle of the usual Silicon Valley vibe- this cafe is much more relaxed and isn't glossed over with the sort of pretentious feeling you get at other cafes. Very down to earth place to grab a hand made cup of Joe.
Good atmosphere and music with good prices.

Coffee is great! Got there food and pastries a few times, it's not bad at all for the price
DSRC is the best! Best coffee, best croissants, best atmosphere, best service, and best smelling place around!
A quiet and cozy atmosphere just outside the city center, and the coffee is great. I'd visit every day if I were close by.
We love getting freshly roasted coffee beans from here! The beans are great, the vibe is lovely, and the people are very kind.
Wonderful service here and the best coffee! So much care goes into making the coffee here and it definitely shows. My husband and I are both particular about our coffee and we both love it!

Loved their coffee, and the spacious shop. Pretty busy in the mornings and a bit quieter during lunch time. It's cheaper than other coffee shops, but they only take cash. The indoors gets a bit warm in the morning, as it seems they dont turn on the AC til the afternoon. There are a couple of tables outside as well.
For food hacked together in a small back room, they do a damn good job. Coffee is on par with the bay area. This place is charming, but the WiFi may or may not work on any given day and the power outlets may or may not be live any given day. My understanding is that the owner is cheap, but somehow manages to run a quaint coffee establishment... quaint enough that it's my top recommendation for Mountain View coffee shops.
I like to support neighborhood coffee shops. This one had a relaxed, collegial and down-to-earth vibe. The pleasant smell of coffee wafted in the air. The baked good pickings looked slim but we were there for an after-lunch espresso/macchiato. With the spring-like weather it was nice to hangout curbside. There were 2 other pairs of friends catching up at the other cafe tables on the sidewalk. We were lucky to try this place out as the operating hours are 8-2pm. (and we sometimes lunch late, phew) The server kindly let me change my order from a cappucino and macchiato and going from a single to double.
Good coffee. It's fairly subtle in flavour, but still complex. Pretty cheap compared to other coffee shops out there as well. No indoor seating here though, so that was a bit of a letdown. There's some tables and chairs outside, but it's right next to the street, so the vibe isn't there. Otherwise, great service and short lines. This spot is decent for a quick grab-n-go
The coffee bean taste and aroma are evident with every sip, offering a fresh sensation. I like their balance of cappuccino —it’s foamy yet doesn’t overpower the espresso. Local, casual, relaxed vibes inside makes you feel like your go-to neighborhood coffee shop. Plenty of seats, with some outdoor seating available when weather permits. Baristas are friendly too.
Old school neighborhood cafe with interesting coffee combinations. Got the mint mocha which was delicious and friend got a hazelnut cappuccino which she also enjoyed. Totally recommend!

A fairly good local coffee shop. Good coffee and pastries, and the beans they roast are second to none. Prices are about average for the area and they have a very laid back vibe. Been going here off and on for almost 20 years, and they have unfortunately been slowly going down hill. Used to have live music, the uke jam once a month, and extended hours so I can only give them 3 stars. Hopefully this will change, as it was once easily the best coffee shop in the area.
Decided to try Dana Street after a morning workout in the area. Coffee was ok. Staff was kind. Though on the older side, it does take some time for the drinks to come out. Some seating inside. Street parking only.
I ordered banana latte. Tasty, family owned pretty coffee shop.

The coffee quality is bad. I asked for double and I got a cup of milk basically. I doubt that they even put one short of expresso in my cup. The service is not-existing.
