Opinions de La Fontaine Mountain View
We love their food and come often. Their service is very good! Speed of getting food ready is also good. Their sticky mango rice dessert is very good, sweet and ripe mangos. Still many dishes to try!
This actually turns out better than we expected! Guess it's not yet broadly shared on xiaohongshu but already got full house on a Friday evening. Food has 锅气 which is very authentic. Rotti with peanut sauce, papaya salad, spicy basil with ground pork all are very good. Their mild spicy level is probably medium in other American-Thai restaurant, authentic in its way. Prices are reasonable, we got more than we could finish.
While visiting Castro Street we decided to try this Thai restaurant and were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food, the service and the environment. The Mango salad with crispy tofu was exquisite. The spicy eggplant stir fry with prawn was also amazing. We paired it with steamed brown rice and after our first few bites decided we will definitely be back to try other dishes.
The owner was very nice and generous. The food was really good and the service was fast.
Everyone in our group loved their food. I recommend their curry dishes (Mussaman & yellow curry), spring rolls, ginger tea, and roti with cashew sauce appetizer.
We visited this place for team lunch. Great Thai place with excellent food! I loved the authenticity of the food and their service was great and friendly! Great vegetarian options too! Deserts were okayish! Worth a try!
One of the best Thai restaurants I have been. Hot Tom yum soup was made of shrimp, mushrooms and tomatoes and it was very sour. Hoa Mok Fish was tasty and the spice level was pretty good.
10/10 experience and food. I used to come to Amarin a lot when I lived nearby. I have not been back in a long time but was able to stop by the new location. I am so grateful that I was able to come back and have the mango cashew chicken & thai tea. Everything was delicious, just like I remembered. The service was great and everyone who helped me was so kind. I will be back when I am in the area again!
Best Thai food experience in Mountain View/Palo Alto. Our months- long search is over. We had chicken satay, soft tofu fresh rolls, and spicy basil tofu fried rice. All really good. Great service, airy, on a busy fun closed street. We will be back!
Very nice Thai restaurant. We enjoyed large coconut seafood soup and springs rolls and also Sinhga beer. Everything was fresh and tasty.
I really liked the vegetarian options, cocktails and ambience. My favorite item was the mushroom ravioli. The desserts and cocktails were also very good, I recommend the chocolate temptation if you're a chocolate fan and the tiramisu was also good. I also tried the the vegetarian and golden margherita pizzas, and angel hair pomodoro pasta and they were also good (recommend the ravioli over all of them though). Definitely one entee per person based on the portion sizes. For starters, the pistachio crusted goat cheese is worth it if you haven't tried before. Good ambience in a busy location.
The food was delicious! I loved the warm toasted bread with an earthy blend of herbs and olive oil, fresh flavors and textures of the strawberry spinach salad, and garlic crostini and seafood-infused tomato broth of the Bouillabaisse. Our dishes came out fresh and quite soon after we ordered (~5 minutes or so) and the ambience was casual but elegant.
Flavorful food served with friendly service and hospitality in the hustle and bustle of downtown Mountain View. Excellent cocktails line up and wine selection to complement a nice menu. Dishes were presented in creative ways with generous portions. Our group had a wonderful meal. My favorite was the grilled octopus, truffle fries, and duck breast. Highly recommend!
Dinner with coworkers in the outdoor seating area! Really liked the pistachio crusted goat cheese appetizer! Caprese was decent. Mushroom truffle ravioli in the pasta section was another great dish that didn't disappoint. Tiramisu in the dessert section is an all time favorite of mine. Friendly staff and quick service!
Enjoyed a lovely dinner here with coworkers! Parking in downtown Mt View is kinda nuts but the garage is close so def park there. Bread is fresh and a plenty! We had the bouillabaisse, beef and mash, pizza, ravioli and all was amazing. Service was also super friendly and a great overall atmosphere!
Gourmet food, reasonable prices. Choosing a meal is the hardest part. Grilled squid yum, not fishy at all, more steak-like. Good portions, we were both full and happy. Cordon blue was tastey, mashed potatoes creamy. Braised short rib no knife needed, fell apart with a fork. Polenta was a nice accompaniment.
Wow, open on Thanksgiving. Look like the owners were doing everything, so their employees could have the day off. They were so delightful, an excellent way to mingle with the customers. Everyone looked so happy there. Compliments to the Chef on great food. Next time I will try the Duke Wellington.
Making a reservation through OpenTable is super simple and the hostess was very welcoming. Opted to sit at the bar and the bartender whipped up an old fashioned that packed a punch and a very dirty martini (per request) that was very smooth. Ordered a Bruschetta con Burrata and a Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese for appetizers, a Mushroom Truffle Ravioli for entree and wrapped up the evening with Exotic Bomba (Mango, Passionfruit, & Raspberry sorbetto covered in white chocolate). Every single item was delicious. To sum it up - super friendly & welcoming staff, delicious drinks & food, and a comfy atmosphere.
This is my favorite place for French-Italian cuisine! The food is consistently delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful! My guests included people who tried French -Italian cuisine for the first time. They were extremely satisfied with the food. The tastes were not overpowering. Each dish had a unique flavor! I enjoyed the complementary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Wish the bread was served hot! In the appetizers, crab cakes were delicious! In the main course, I would highly recommend trying the mushroom ravioli. I will definitely visit this place again!
I don't visit Italian restaurants a lot but this place is great. The patio dine in is well maintained and the ambiance is beautiful. The hosts are super gracious. The food was fantastic and mouth watering. I am a person who is not into wines and the host was patient to explain which would be better and what taste would it give. There was no delay in serving the food and the plating of the food is excellent. Overall, awesome place to visit and to keep the taste buds happy!
Trying this place after 10 years. The quality has gone down compared to our last experience. The spring roll was good but the sauce could have been better. It was too salty that it overwhelmed other tastes. Pineapple fried rice was good you can’t go wrong with it. Green curry was delicious. I think this was the only place that I could find spicy Thai curry. Overall, good meal, but kinda overpriced.
We have eaten here for years and this is the first time at the new location. This place is half the size of the old location that was across the street. The food is still very good. Mango cashew chicken is a family favorite. Service has room for improvement. They dropped stacks of plates on the center of our table and had us place them, dropped 4 glasses and left at the side of the table, and brought the wrong appetizer by accident, We will still return and hope service is better next time.
The food was delicious I enjoyed the green curry I ordered and the pan-fried noodles. Service: The server was also really attentive to our friends’ nut allergy so I appreciated how they went back to check if the dishes were nut-free. The service can be slow also. We waited a while for our food and they almost missed the last dish we ordered, so expect to wait after you order. Restaurant: The restaurant has plenty of seatings. They have Thai decorations on the wall which is nice to see. It also looks like they have the tables where you sit on the floor, but those were closed when we came. Parking: Parking around downtown Mountain View’s not bad. We just parked in one of the lots nearby.
The food was really delicious but I am giving four stars because they gave us small dish and it was hard for us to eat in small dish. Apart from this the overall quality of food was awesome and the service was also good. Along with it they also helped us by keeping the cake in refrigerator as went to celebrate one of friends birthday. Fried rice , spring roll, pranthey and chutney and special salad was too good but the quantity was less as per price. I am definitely going there again!!
A great Thai place to eat with friends! The Tom ka soup is pretty good! I ordered with seafood. Curry is a bit salty but I guess you need to eat it with lots of rices, crab fried rice is my favorite! I had it twice but first time is better than second I guess. Still enjoyable
Came for lunch. Tried to skip carb and eat healthier and asked if I can have veggie as replacement. The waitress was flexible and agreed to change it without extra charge. Food came fast. My soup was delicious, although the replaced bean sprouts were scanty. Can't ask for more when they were nice enough to modify for you. Basil chicken and yellow curry chicken were both tasty. Yet the papaya salad was unbearably sour and tasted terrible, it also had fishy smell. I've never had papaya salad this bad. The recipe was a disaster. Service was very nice. Staff was polite and attentive. Would probably come back to try other dishes.
Good authentic Thai food. Friendly staff. Nice ambience. A bit pricey but well worth the tasty fare they serve. Some tables offer great view of the street and you watch the world stroll by.
Octopus 5 tender Panna Cotta 5 milky, not too sweet Lamb Chop w/ Pistachio Crust & Fig Sauce 4 need to order medium or more Beef Wellington 4 tender, juicy, need more crust Eggplant Gratin 4 cheesy, tomatoe Smoke Salmon Crostini 4 Short Ribs 3 tomatoe plain flavor Beef Carpaccio 3 not good Tiramisu 3 has alcohol Asparagus Cream Soup 3 too salty
Chose this place for our Valentine’s Day lunch. The restaurant is located in the downtown so parking is scarce and have to walk 10-15 min depending on where you parked. The restaurant looks small from outside but it has lot of seating space and since we went on a weekday only 3-4 tables were occupied. Started our lunch with Cream of Mushroom soup which was really good esp in this cold and rainy weather. They provided a basket of bread with a herb oil for side. Ordered L-Fromage De Chevre Aux Pistaches for starter, Grilled salmon for entree, La Fontaine pizza, Panna cotta & Lava cake for dessert. The started was really good. It had the pistachio crunchiness and the slight sweetness from the caramelised onion and honey. I was not much impressed with the grilled salmon. The quantity seemed less for the price and it came with veggies and mashed potato. The pizza had the thinnest crust I ever had with the right amt of tomato sauce and little topping. They were cut into 9 pieces and we took most of them home. The highlight was the dessert. The lava cake was yummy and came with sea sat caramel ice cream which just complimented the cake and carried it to the next level. The panna cotta comes with a berry sauce which we asked them to skip for us. The texture was so good and the right flavor. Overall a good date place, friendly staff, adequate seating, just above average pricing and quiet ambience.
Staff were very attentive and food was great. Very well prepared food and presented beautifully. Best Italian/French restaurant in MTV that I have had. However the dining room was too dark and people are sitting too close to each other to have private conversations. Also the portion sizes are not quite up to the standards given by the price, ie we were still hungry after spending >$70 per person. I would definitely try it again but the dishes I ordered I wouldn’t recommend if one’s on an empty stomach.
We went to this place to have Valentine’s dinner. Nice place decorated nicely. Expensive french restaurant but it was a Valentine’s dinner so we didn’t care about it. There was a special menu for the day. Very expensive. Food was average but the service was fantastic. Server was very good she took very good care of us. Parking is very easy to find. A free public parking is just behind the restaurant. Chicken was amazing. Desserts were fabulous. Tiramisu and chocolate sheet cake was the beat. Veggie risotto was not at all good. My taste pallet didn’t like it. But overall it was a good restaurant. They even gave me bunch of roses when leaving the restaurant. Pretty booked for the Valentine’s dinner.
Steak was nicely cooked at medium rare. Fries were thin and tasted better without the ketchup. Starter was nice enough but could have done with a sprinkling of pepper. Bread was nice as well. Not sure if it was really a French restaurant, was more European. No Moules marinière which is a bit off for a French restaurant.
Tried this for brunch instead of dinner. The pastas (spinach gnocchi with truffle cream and seafood parpadelle) were tasty. The pizza was bigger than we expected and the crust was better than one might expect for a non-pizzeria specialty house. The mixed appetizer plate was perfect for a small eater who wanted a sampling of prosciutto/melon, salads and cheese. The menu on Open Table was erroneous so a bit of bait and switch but we found something of interest to eat here for a weekend brunch.
Great customer service. Staff are very attentive. They serve big portions here. We were there celebrating birthday and they were very accommodating. Appetizers were ok, the smoked salmon is too salty. Excellent seared sea bass( we had to split the food since it was a big platter). The Halibut dish is so fresh here.
Good authentic food mostly, curry etc a bit over seasoned . Also note that extra sauce for ROTI seems like an extra charge of $7. Also the bill was given to me without showing the specific price for each item. Just wishing more honesty on this. The point is mostly deducted for this.
For the overpriced place like this food was bland, small and nothing special. I got duck breast it came with 3 pieces of asparagus 😂. And I asked for veggies instead of rice. Veggies looked boiled and bland. Ambiance was plain, nothing special. I appreciated how empty it was though. It was nice to sit in peace without too many people around.
Food lacked flavor. Chicken satay and papaya salad was good. Fresh rolls and crab fried rice were average at best. Pranag chicken curry was the worst. Had big chunks of chicken with two three pieces of bell pepper. Curry was tasteless and whole dish looked unappetizing. Won’t be visiting again
Unfortunately service fell far short of even decent. Both waiters were rude and short with a 10+ minute delay to take our order and 30+ minutes to receive food. Drink refills were nonexistent. When it came time to pay the bill, we were told when we were given the check that the bill could only be split two ways. There were 6 of us that sat down and we informed the waiter we would all be separate checks and there was nothing said. We paid via handheld PoS system which could easily separate the checks. I understand it takes a few more minutes of the waiter’s time to split the checks, but that is compensated by mandatory pay and optional tips. On the positive side, the food was fantastic, with great taste and really solid portions. This unfortunately does not overcome the service issues. With all the other options in Mountain View, I would look elsewhere.
