At La Plaza Taquería, we're passionate about serving up authentic Mexican flavors that transport you to the heart of our Latin roots. Inspired by the markets and traditions of Mountain View's diverse community, our restaurant is a warm and inviting space where friends and family gather to share delicious meals. We take pride in offering an extensive selection of meats, seafood, produce, and more, just like the supermarket with Latin roots that started it all. Our cremería and tortillería add a touch of homemade charm to every visit, making us the perfect spot to indulge in traditional favorites or try something new – like our famous carne asada tacos, made fresh daily with love and care.

Opinions de La Plaza Taquería Mountain View
This is an authentic Mexican store where you can find everything. Excellent, super affordable and fresh produce… delicious grilled chicken on the weekends and Tamales special on Thursdays… excellent service is provided too. They have it all, including meat, carnitas, chicharrón, and chorizo - tons of options available.
🛒 La Plaza Market: Your One-Stop Flavor Fiesta 🥩 Meat Department: Thin-sliced carne asada ready for the grill 🔥, marinated cuts that beg for a backyard cookout 🌮, and chorizo that packs a punch 🌶️. Just be ready to flex your Spanish skills—English isn’t always the default 🗣️🤷♂️. 🧀 Groceries: Fresh crema, queso, and salsa that taste like abuela made them herself 👵🧄. Whether you're crafting tacos or tamales, this place has the goods. 🌮 Taco Tuesdays: $1 Al Pastor tacos? Yes, please! 🌮💸 Just don’t show up on a Monday expecting magic—taco dreams pause for a day 😅. 👨👩👧👦 Vibe: Family-run, friendly, and full of character. Grab your plate and head to Rengstorff Park for a front-row seat to local life 🏀🌳. 💬 Heads-Up: Not every staff member speaks English fluently, so patience and a smile go a long way 😊. But the flavors? They speak loud and clear 🔊😋. 🌟 Overall: La Plaza Market is a hidden gem 💎 for authentic ingredients and street-style eats. It’s not fancy—it’s flavorful, local, and unapologetically real.
Some of the best tacos and burritos in the area. I love the Al Pastor and the carnitas is fantastic. The best part? The employees are always so nice and happy that it is a delight to stop by for some food. I’ve never had a bad experience here and the food is amazing. IMPORTANT TIP: The hours on the food window is that it closes at 8pm. The store closes at 9:30, so it can be misleading in the hours section.
This review is for the outside pick up window only. We order the al pastor tacos every Tuesday. They are $1/taco and consistently delicious! We have ordered breakfast burritos and the other tacos as well and I'd give those a 3-4/5 stars but the Al pastor gets a 5/5 every time! And the employee who works at the window is SO nice. He speaks minimal English and does his best to make sure he gets your order right every time. Also my kids love the Al pastor tacos just plain with Al pastor and tortilla ( no cilantro or onions) and they are picky eaters!
Great tamales three dollars
we love coming for taco tuesday’s 50% off al pastor tacos! even without the discount these are really solid al pastor tacos. i love that they warm up the tortillas. they accept credit card too!
Delicious carnitas tacos from outdoor walk up window. Inexpensive fast local food for take away or eating at an outdoors counter. I enjoy trying aguas frescas made daily or a horchata, also very tasty.
great tacos, even greater on Tuesdays when the al pastor is half off

This place can’t take my money quick enough. Best tacos and burritos in the area. They also serve great chicken and you can buy the rice and beans fresh! Also served great horchata!!
I love their ready to eat ceviche, ensalada de pollo, guacamole etc. they are perfect when you don’t want to spend money at a restaurant and you want a quick and fresh snack. They do have great burritos too. Also recommend the produce and dried spices. Don’t recommend the breads- they are not as flavorful and tend to be dry. There’s some better places for the pan dulces.
I come for the very inexpensive vegetables. Also they have latin-typical vegetables like chayote squash of good quality. The meat section is really good, but it's not prepackaged - you have to ask for what you want (but it is fresher!). The language most spoken is Spanish but everyone speaks English too. The Mexican music is not great, but it adds to the authenticity.
Love the place. Small but with awesome variety and options. Fair prices. Meat not drawn in chemicals. The bread is awesome and fresh! If you ever plan on cooking Mexican food you should definitely come here and your will most probably find everything you need.
small compact store. Is wellstock produce department. Shells are never empty they're always a full of wonderful Mexican items and American items too. I've always enjoyed taco Tuesdays those are always a good time to come down and get a fresh taco. The tamales are a bit skimpy sometimes on the Protein sometimes.Yeah other than that there were really good tamales. I don't speak that much Spanish but I sure like trying to get my vocabulary bigger when the help of the butchers there talking to me in Spanish I'm learning more and that's the best part about going in there as you learn a new word each time I go shopping.
Always have the best tacos I always go on Tuesdays to get tacos at 1:59 dollars they're good

Amongst the Mexican/Latin markets in the Peninsula, we have found this to be one of the best for both fresh produce and tacos. (Warning: As with most street tacos, pls exercise caution. Asides from finger sized bone shards that can be dangerously sharp, we have gotten a lot of rocks in our pollo and Al pastor, and have bit down on more than one just so, quite painful, and once cracked a tooth). Fresh chickpeas, tomatillos, nopal pads, white onions, peppers, purple field corn for making fresh masa, they have it. As always, use common sense and judgement when selecting your purchases. Sometimes I have had to throw out half of the corn I bought bc they are full of holes, and float. Order at the taqueria and pick up groceries, and your food will be ready by the time you are done. It's a solid go-to for a quick weekday lunch, when you are busy working and don't feel like cooking. On Friday afternoons we have seen them smoking chicken outside and have tried them a couple of times. They look great, but taste a bit like chicken ham, due to high salt content. We think they brine them. Good to know for the tacos: Go early for chorizo, they sell out if you go too late in the afternoon. The tacos lack consistency in amount and freshness level, but generally the pollo asado is a safe bet. Sometimes it does have a bit of warmed over flavor, or tastes like their leftover rotisserie chicken heated up. We have needed between 3-7 tacos per person for lunch. (We only eat one of the two corn tortillas they give you per taco, if you eat the two tortillas per taco, you probably need less.) Depending on who is assembling that day, you may get more or less meat, and fixings (onion cilantro radish salsa). We just order a couple extra tacos to make sure we have enough. We think the flavor of Al pastor is spot on. However you get lots of pure fat. See pic for two Al pastor tacos, and the amount of visible pure fat that was picked out (some got spit out in a napkin, so it's not even all of it) So if you really want some, order double the amount, so you can still have meat after removing the huge fat and gristle chunks. Also don't recommend Tuesdays when they are a dollar, you get even less meat than usual. Really wish they would fix this problem, we have tried complaining (in fluent Spanish) but it's met with an 'oh well'. Carne asada sometimes has gristle but some days is good. Carnitas have a piggy odor and flavor so we avoid these.

I give it a 4 star because the store is great but the food place is mid there was this young boy who served me and my cousin he didn’t give us forks for bowl and only 1 piece of napkin he didn’t give us change and I orders a horchata and he ate the straw giving us the food 4 stars for the supermarket one star for service in the food side but the food is over all good
This is my rating for La Plaza’s taqueria. I love their tacos and service. Super delicious, authentic tortillas and the meat is seasoned well. I usually order tacos de pollo which already come with radishes/limes and salsas of your choice. I do make sure to order a separate order of grilled onions/jalapeños as well. Back then (when this place was named Mi Pueblo) everything was included in your tacos - now you must pay for some accompaniments like said onions/jalapeños, which makes sense because of rising costs. I also used to order their burritos when named Mi Pueblo, so gotta try those again. Nonetheless, their portions are still filling and I’ve always been satisfied with the taste. I do wish they improved some of their salsas. Some lack in flavor and I assume those are ones that come bottled and others taste more fresh like their orange salsa frita.
La Plaza’s Taqueria has amazing tacos with authentic tortillas and well-seasoned meat. I usually get tacos de pollo with extra grilled onions and jalapeños. Portions are generous, though some salsas could use more flavor. Service is great, and I’m always satisfied with my meal.

This Latin store is conveniently located near my home compared to others. It offers a variety of items that major supermarkets do not carry. While the quality of the produce is generally acceptable, I have often found moldy items and expired bread. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice these issues until I opened the packages at home. As a result, I no longer buy bread there, but I am still comfortable purchasing other products. The staff in the meat department are friendly and attentive; however, the front-end staff often do not acknowledge customers. Prices are on the higher end, and many items are double the price of those in other stores. Overall, it's a good option for a quick trip to a convenience store.

When you buy dairy products here you’ve got a 50% chance of it being already spoiled. It has happened 5+ times to me when not even close to the expiry date. I can only assume they’re leaving the dairy items unrefrigerated before they’re put out on the sales floor. Otherwise the produce selection is good and convenient for boxed/packaged items
