High quality sushi and sashimi, Excellent service. Truly outstanding.
Best sushi in texas. Good portions and good prices too.
Always a good choice. They have the best tuna sashimi around.
Great Sushi! There is a cool couple that operates the place. Fun!
Always great service and awesome sushi! Gyoza is great!
Loved it, always will, always fresh and they probably know my number by heart💜
Best sushi in the area ! Bear claw is our favorite.
New location is WONDERFUL! Sushi is better than ever!
Love 💕 the food it was Soo good. Love you guys see you soon!!!!
Staff was excellent, atmosphere is warm and pleasant, food was spectacular!
Always good sushi and great service.
Best I ever had, go at least once a week
Best sushi I've ever had.
Great food. Clean and enjoyable atmosphere!
Best Sushi in East Texas by far! 😆 I have been eating at this place for 18 years, they move every now and then but its worth trying to find!
This is a place to get some Beautiful Fresh sushi! The octopus salad, it is sincerely delicious. My Goodness... Yes Go Here 😊
Excellent. Top quality sushi and great service since they first opened in 2008. On par with the quality you would find in the big cities.
Great place for sushi and Japanese cuisine. Their shrimp tempura, in particular, tastes amazing. The wait isn't that long either, during most days
Great food for a good price. Best sushi in town. And their shrimp and veggie tempura is awesome.
The best smoked salmon nigiri I've ever had was here! They also have a really good pepper tuna nigiri.
I use to wait till I went to the larger cities like Houston or Dallas to get the authentic Sushi Bar experience and the type of quality artisan level of skill and variety I love about Sushi and Hibatchi till this wonderful place opened here in Nacogdoches...I have had the pleasure of experiencing the talents of the same Sushi Chef in this Sushi restaurant in their prior restaurant ventures and he is certainly an artest and a top notch Sushi Chef and he never disappoints... Always an awesome experience, great atmosphere.. Definitely a must for visitors and locals alike..
My FAVORITE restaurant in Nacogdoches and more importantly the best sushi place I've ever been to. Love the vibe of the restaurant. Perfect for date night.
My favorite sushi ever. The kani salad is always great, and their miso soup has spoiled me for eating anywhere else.
My addiction to Sake originated here. Wonderful times, memories, and experiences, as well as the best food and great guest service.
I was driving through for work and stopped at this place and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food as well as the portion sizes...I'd definitely recommend it.
I had some time off from work for lunch and stopped in here. Great service, excellent food. Can’t complain.
This restaurant used to be next to my store. I hate that they moved because it's my favorite restaurant in town.
Mom and pop shop with a great menu and excellent options. My favorite is the Jeff roll, so far.
Way smaller than the last location but the food is still great and the wait staff is friendly and great. Definitely worth going to.
Lovely, as always. Excellent fare paired with the friendliest people. The new location is great!
We always love eating here! The owners and staff are wonderful, and the food is delicious!
Best sushi in town! The hostess was lovely too.
The best sushi place in nacogdoches for sure! Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had
Cari was our waitress, and she was very nice, patient, energetic, friendly, and overall awesome!! We came in around 6:30 pm and it wasn’t too busy, there were a few tables with people, not too bad though. We had great service, Cari did not forget anything we asked for, and she paid close attention to our needs. 5 star for awesomeness!!
This is a small family restaurant in Nacogdoches TX, but is a good Asian option in town. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, everything prepared at the moment by its owner. Definitely a good experience.
This is by far the BEST sushi place in Nac. The lunch specials are awesome. The Shrimp Tempura was decadent. The waitress was busy, but still gave great service. My husband and I have not had better sushi anywhere else. Highly recommend.
The sushi here is AMAZING (best I've ever had lol) I haven't gotten food poisoning ONCE from here. My family and I have always come here for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, my husband and I even came in after getting married while I was still wearing my wedding dress. 😆
We live in the food capital of Texas and were not disappointed at all by the quality of the food here. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised. Very fresh, flavorful ingredients. The deliciously juicy yet crispy vegetable tempura, the mouth-watering sushi rolls and the especially "umami" onion soup earned 4 out of 5 stars for this review. The 5th star came in when we pulled up outside and the waitress proactively came out to initiate curb-side delivery before we even knew what was happening. Great service : )
We love this place so much. Sushi is always amazing, staff is so kind and attentive. They always have a very clean restaurant. Our favorites are the mermaid roll, tofu teriyaki bento and vegetable yakisoba. Their prices are very fair for the quality of the food. Highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t yet.
Oh wow! Better than ANY sushi I have eaten in Houston, TX. Little hole-in-the-wall with amazing, FRESH flavor and kind service. I haven’t eaten sushi this good since I was a kid in Seattle. I am 59.
Best sushi. Even when I lived in Dallas, nothing beats nijiya. And the owners are so kind.
Quiet atmosphere very pleasant. Sushi is delicious. This is my favorite restaurant in town
Best. Sushi. In. Nac. I eat here regularly, for a couple of years now. The staff is very friendly, the new location is far nicer then the last and the food is amazing. A little pricey but it’s authentic sushi and Japanese, and even the American inspired dishes are well done. This is, without a doubt, one of the best places in Nac for Asian cuisine, period.
I ate here on 7/30/22 and Carrie was my waitress. I ordered the shrimp hibachi and it was excellent! My waitress, Carrie, was a sweetheart. After my meal, I left without my purse. I live roughly 8 hours south of Nacogdoches and my keys were in my purse. I had really put myself in a predicament. I messaged Nijiya on Facebook.. on a Sunday.. because I knew that the restaurant would be closed until the following Tuesday. The owner responded promptly, and came in on their day off to give me my purse and refused money for their time. Talk about going the extra mile for their customers. Nijiya is a great family oriented restaurant that can be complimented in every aspect.
Nice little restaurant! I was passing through and stopped for dinner. The food quality was great and the portions were large! I saw some posts about serving times, but there was no wait; the staff was very attentive and friendly. I had the chicken Udon dinner and the Rooster roll, both highly recommended!!
We had 4 sushi rolls, all of them amazing! Dancing tuna roll the tuna melted, in your mouth it was so fresh. Spicy samon was good, Philadelphia roll was mouthwatering and so was the samon and avocado roll. We had the Tempera veggie was also really good. The Almost desert roll was sweet, and a good closing roll for the night. Deffantly a hidden gem, for Japanese food!
They moved locations and no longer have hibachi which is sad but I only go for one reason anyways. If you go here you must try the Bonita roll it's the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life
My wife and I eat here at least once a week. One of the only places in Nacogdoches to get fresh prepared from scratch food. A very good place for healthy options. The owners are very nice and the service is always excellent and friendly. My favorite place in town.
I come in and eat here a couple times a week, and not once have they failed me. The sushi is the freshest I've ever had, and the presentation and taste is amazing.
The fish is fresh and the service is great. The itamae suggested the fish for the day and created a great sashimi plate. The onion soup is the best in town and the specialty rolls game me all the options I would need to find what I liked.
So good!! I had (or my travel companion had and therefore I tried): Beef Teriyaki Bento Box Miso soup Seaweed salad Jeff roll Party Lumberjack roll Everything was delicious. I especially loved their tempura (came with my bento).
We just moved to Nacogdoches from a bigger city and we were delighted to find a good sushi place to go! Love this place!
The food was amazing and the waitress was very friendly! I highly recommend this restaurant! My new favorite sushi spot!
Excellent fresh sushi and sashimi. Tried a little bit of everything but was blown away by the almost desert roll. Panko fried sweet potato, cream cheese, rice and seaweed drizzled with honey. Flavors were genius and service was a dream!
Most divine, fresh, and delicious sushi in the area with a welcoming family-owned environment. Great deals on lunch specials, even with the nationwide inflation on products. They have great vegetarian options – just ask the waitstaff for recommendations! There are also gluten free options that can be recommended. One of my personal favorites is the Amazing Roll, with sweet potato substituted instead of shrimp tempura. The Almost Dessert Roll is a must-try as well! One thing I appreciate about the sushi is that they do not drown the rolls in sauce, so you are able to taste the fresh ingredients in balanced bites. More sauce can be served on the side though if you like a little extra! It is BYOB, so if you’re wanting alcoholic drinks, just plan to bring your sake, wine, etc., with you or walk over to Kroger just around the corner. Also, as a side note, hibachi is to be discontinued by May 2023. There are still a ton of delicious options to choose from!
I have been going there regularly since they first opened their doors at the North Street location in September 2008. They serve the best Sushi in NAC and the owners are great people. Great for party sized to-go orders as well.
Our go to sushi place. Small quiet. Quick service. Tasty sushi. Small good menu. Jeff Roll was tasty.
Japanese American restaurant in the casual, “Izakaya” style, which has been gaining popularity in the states amongst “Foodies” and weekend warriors alike, Nijiya, offers a range Japanese fare. Best 🍣 in Nac, for sure. Haven’t been to the new location since it opened, but I’m sure it’s just as good as the other two. Family owned and operated, locally for about 15 years, and never had any complaints. (Pro tip #223-ask if they have any hamachi kama available...but keep that on the low!! 🔥🔥🔥)
The lunch rolls and soups were delicious!
Best place in Nac for sushi. One of the only places that doesn't put a mayonnaise sauce all over the sushi. Also the only place for udon or ramen noodles but that's alright since they do a good job at it. Bento boxes are great. All around wonderful spot which Nac really needs. I always go here when I need to be cheered up. I generally like traditional sushi but one day we got the dragon roll and it was not only delicious but also cute! It's the photo I included
We visit this place every chance we get to be in the area! It’s always delicious and welcoming!

Excellent food, high quality fish, good price, wonderful service.
Wonderful place for a date. I've been going here for years. It is quiet and dimly lit. The waitresses are friendly and they don't hover over you while you eat. The flavors of the sushi are very clean and complex at the same time. Always fresh, always delightful.
This is the best sushi/Japanese restaurant in Nacogdoches hands down. It rivals many of the good places in big cities. Everything is made by the same family and consistency is perfect. Service is on point and the salmon and white fish are sublime. We eat here every week and will continue to do so. No other Japanese cuisine in the east Texas region comes close. Seriously, just eat here already!!!
Fantastic place to eat! My wife and I have had sushi and hibachi all over the country, and this place is among the very best. The hibachi room was closed on the night we went, but you could order the hibachi dinners from the kitchen. The portion sizes were very generous and the fried rice was much better tasting than the usual soy sauce saturated mess others serve. The sushi was reasonably priced and the rolls were huge. Everything was very fresh. The bathroom was not only sparkling clean, but it even smelled good.
I had no idea there was a sushi restaurant that had been around for 20 years in Nacogdoches (various locations). The food was tasty, and the staff were friendly. I'll go back again, for sure.
A charming, quiet place with authentic and americanized options. The place is clearly run with love and it shows in the food. Perfect for date night or if you need to impress someone.
The owners are very kind and sweet, the dining room is comfortable, and the sushi is fantastic!

I would highly recommend one of the bento boxes, the food was great but the waitress was a little 'spaced' out.
Everything had a great flavor to it and the staff were attentive and kind. They were pretty affordable as well.
Good service, no hibachi style grills to eat around though.
Awesome sushi and hibachi dinner! Quiet place for a date night.
Friendly service, great prices and great tasting food!
Our backup go to sushi place for nacogdoches.... the last few rolls of sushi we had from here wasn't as fresh as usual, but the service is always great!
Have to agree with some other reviewers on the wait times. Not unreasonable, but could be improved. The food is fantastic though, I would definitely recommend this place.
Extremely good sushi. Out performs a lot the sushi places I like in Dallas. Also, nice that it's BYOD, I like being able to bring some wine.
Good food at a decent price. Nice place to order lunch. This place and Asian City are the two best Asian food places in Nacogdoches.
The staff is super friendly and they have the best sushi in Nac. The lunch specials are great; you can get 3 sushi rolls for $12.
Coming from a city with a population of 1 million moving to a small town of 500+ I was hesitant but yet missing my Japanese cuisine. This place was fantastic! The sushi was delicious and the portion was perfect. Happy to know one part of my palate is satisfied ! Great place Great prices Great service
Very nice space with authentic Japanese food offerings. Their tempura and dipping sauce are outstanding even compared to many, many tempura samplings I have had had at many, many places. I'll be back to sample other of their dishes.
I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for such a long time and have finally been able to go tonight! My husband and I ordered edamame, agedashi tofu, steak hibachi, and tempura ice cream! My tofu was great though the fried part was extremely thin but my husband's edamame had no flavor he said. The steak hibachi comes with onion soup and green salad! The soup was delicious and I didn't like the salad but my husband ate most of it. The steak was seasoned just right and the vegetables sauteed perfectly! The rice was also delicious and was a very generous portion! No noodles which made my husband sad but the noodles are a different option on the menu so make sure to state that when you order! Wish we went without dessert as neither of us were impressed but the presentation was certainly unexpected which made things fun. The entire bill was only ~$31 so not a bad price for a hibachi dinner at all! It's a small quaint restaurant that I'll definitely come back to for the sushi and the waitress was very friendly and checked on us to clear our table right when we needed her! All in all, not a bad place at all and definitely worth a visit. Edit to add that the sushi lunch special is absolutely amazing and staff is on point as usual!

They didn't have any bento boxes.
Wait time for food could be better. Showed up at around 7:30 and got our food an after showing up. When my group ordered food shortly after arriving. As a whole good quality sushi and teriyaki. Chef specials are a bit pricey but the normal sushi is good for the cost it is.
The waitress forgot to put our order in. We finally went to find her. Took 45 minutes to get food.
For general information: they no longer have hibachi, teriyaki, noodles etc. Just sushi, sashimi, and a few appetizers. Service here was good. The waitresses were friendly and fairly attentive. It was our first time visiting, and overall the food was good. The edamame needed to be cooked a smidge longer and the California roll was not very flavorful. Shrimp tempura roll was excellent. Spring rolls were also very good. The pricing was super all over the place. The basic rolls are fairly priced, but pretty much everything else was way overpriced. We paid $6 for 2 pieces of sashimi that weren’t even served with rice. So basically $3 per bite. $4 for about 25 edamame beans. We left before we were full but couldn’t justify spending more money.
Save yourselve money and go to the Sake Cafe in Lufkin. (Yes you will save money even though you are driving further.) I had high hopes with all the great reviews to this place. I was sure let down once I received my sushi roll. I paid nearly $20 for the tiger roll. I was expecting a lot of sushi at such a high price. The roll comes out and I was surely let down. The roll was tiny, it wasn't even cut up into pieces, and I didn't get ginger or sauce. My fiance and I split a tiger roll, bento box, and a scoop of ice cream. It came out to 44 dollars. I would be perfectly fine paying the price if there was a decent amount of sushi offered. Have a nice drive and go to the Sake Cafe in Lufkin. Same prices but you get way more higher quality food! Also, the sushi was poorly prepared and fell apart everytime I went to pick up a piece.
We got pretty sick from eating the food. Maybe we'll try it again, in the future, but this time around it's been a miserable experience. The service review was great.

It’s a Saturday night and I️ called in advance only for the rude staff to tell me the are not taking orders 45 mins from closing time. She hung up on me and refused to let me talk to management. Absolutely the worst costumer service I’ve ever experienced. Food is mediocre at best and settled with them tonight. Last time im making that mistake agian.
My sushi was so disgusting, server Kelsey Carra hope you have a better day, you had an ugly attitude over the phone and in person. Even after tip you would think you could at least be nicer.
Barely any fish in the sushi and used too much rice. The food could be better, I think quality is not too great.
This place is weak lol.. I heard many people recommending this place and I just wanted okay sushi rolls in Nac. I ordered one of the chef's special rolls which you can't usually go wrong with, but it was just very poor quality and bad service. Rolls were cut in very different sizes too lol Just go to shoguns or the other places!!! :/
Just moved to Nac and had a few people recommend Nijiya.. sushi wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Our server was horrible! And Im usually one of those people who give people a bit of slack because I know working at a restaurant can be pretty hectic but it was not busy at all, she forgot our soup we ordered, didn't bother bringing either of the sides we requested, poured water into both of our sprites, and then at the end of the night had multiple charges on our ticket for things we didn't even order or receive. She flat out didn't care I don't think... so we wont be bothering going back.
decent sushi but terrible hours (who's closed on a Thursday?) and the last time we did try to come sit down when the hours posted as open, we were told they were only doing to go orders from this point on but the dining in didn't close for another 30 minutes and there were other folks inside eating, so either way we are sitting around waiting for sushi at the restaurant...
This place did not live up to all the hype I had heard about it. Service was weak, food was weak, and overall atmosphere was weak. I love eating sushi and rolls, however I don't recommend this place to anyone nor will I be returning.
I did have a passing review on this place but I will warn that you should NEVER eat the raw stuff here NEVER. I am a chef and have owned a sushi catering business/sushi classes years ago in Houston. The rice was once again cold and mushy. The octopus wasnt prepared properly and the squid tasted rancid. They use the lowest grade fish possible here and highly implement cost cutting techniques. Very disappointing but I will go to Lufkin Or Longview from now on. The worst part is they are priced as high quality sushi would be but the quality is that of cheap chinese buffets. If you come here, you have been warned, do not eat raw. Seriously, check out my reviewe to verify the number if places, (mainly sushi places) I have reviewed if you need a credibility reference.

They’re always closed and have a long period of breaks even though they’re closed for like three days on the week
This place is largely unavailable. They shut down their entire operations for their lunch break and will close 1-2 hours before their actual closing time. This is on top of already being open 4 days a week, and closing at random several days out of each month. Not worth it. Not sure why they bother to remain open.
